Working offline with Designer

I have got a requirement that a Business Analyst want to carry his laptop for business requirements meetings and simultaneously work over there on his Designer repository. Is it possible that he can make some changes offline. Any alternative methods or suggestions are also welcomed.
I also forsee that if I grant this facility to one BA then the other three in the team may ask as well. Can I satisfy them all.

It is possible for your analyst to work on his own repository. He is not really working offline, as you will need to set up a repository for him on his laptop. You do need to plan this, because any changes or updates he makes in his own repostory need to be exported and then merged and checked back into the main repository.

I have an Access 2010 web database that I have published to a SharePoint site. Users currently work with the data via one of several Access 2010 front end applications that simply have linked tables and client queires, forms and reports. On a couple
of occasions, we have had issues with our SharePoint site that have left users unable to access the data. A couple of times it was due to our site collection suddenly and inexplicably becoming read only and the last time (while I was on vacation, of course)
due to some license changes my folks were unable to access the site.
I'm getting ready to go on vacation again. What i would like to do is have a sort of emergency back up plan should things go awry again while I'm gone.
What I envision is a back up database that has actual data tables, rather than simply linked lists, that I can sync with my SharePoint lists on a regular basis. That way, should the SharePoint lists become inaccessible, users could continue to work with
the data offline and any changes can be synced once a connection is restored.
I have read through
this article, but in each scenario I was unable to actually open tables to work with the data once offline. Is this a situation where I should simply have folks work offline with a local copy containing all of the data and then republish? Or, is there
a way to simply sync? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. I'm really hoping to leave my laptop at home on this next trip.

Make this simple thing, import the class in your jsp, for example, in your case this should be:
<%@ page import="UserData" %>
The jasper compiler assumes that any unqualified class is part of the package jsps. I think this is to allow class definitions in the jsps. So if you indicate that the class is not packaged in jsps it will be found.

Work offline with Photoshop files

At our company, we work a lot with Photoshop (Webdesign Firm). We have a Windows-Server environment, and several iMacs. For backup-purposes, we save all work-files on our server. Our Mac-users connect to the server through SMB, and open the PSD-files from there.
Most of the time, this works great. However, the bigger the Photoshop-files, the slower the Macs get. Also, quite often, saving the files to the server fails, resulting in a corrupt file.
To prevent this, I'm looking for a way to work 'offline' on a PSD file. I would like to select a PSD file from the server, mark it as Offline, so it is saved on my local computer. From there I can edit it. And when it has changed, I would like the file being saved on the server automatically.
Are there any programs that can do this?

to access RoboSource, if that helps at all...

New FocusTraversalPolicy Mechanism Does Not Work Well With OO Designs

I would like to complain about the new focus traversal mechanism not working well with object-oriented GUI designs.
Specifically, we have many reusable panel classes that can be swapped in and out of reusable dialog classes. On some of these panels, the default focus traversal is not what is desirable, perhaps because one component on the right side of the window is just slightly higher than a component on the left side, maybe due to the component on the right having a label on top, and so the default focus goes to the component on the right instead of the left. So we have a need to be able to explicitly define the order of components in some panels.
If I try to define a focus traversal policy in the panel's constructor, a NullPointerException is thrown because the panel's focus cycle root is null (the panel has not been added to any dialog or frame yet).
If I try to associate a focus traversal policy at the dialog level, it would have to explicitly reference its child panels' inner components, which would break the encapsulation of the panels. It would also make it hard to have generic dialog classes into which various reusable panel objects can be swapped.
Someone suggested making each panel a focus cycle root. This makes it hard to "break out" of one panel to move on to the next panel in the dialog. Special keys would have to be assigned to try to cycle out, and these keys would have to be different than the normal traversal keys, making them inconsistent and nonintuitive to the user. Also, the focus policy would have to know if the dialog had more than one panel, what order the panels were in to know whether to cycle to the next panel or not, etc. This is a mess.
Does anyone have any idea how to get around these problems? I have tried using a global focus policy with a global hash map of prev/next component key-value pairs, but we are still running into trouble with some deeply nested tabbed dialogs. It's just not possible to always have the focus cycle root in existence at the point where you want to explicitly define traversal between two components, or when you are trying to establish the default component for a panel in a tabbed pane.
Has anyone else run into similar issues?

I agree completely. One of the popular consultants on this forum stated that the new focus mechanism was more versatile and only a little more complex. I would say it's more than a little complex given the trouble average programmers are having understanding how it works...at least at first...and after understanding it realizing that they are going to have type their fingers off to update their code. Oh, and the dread of maintaining this awful mess.
I'm currently having the same problem as you Robbie. Some of my reusable panels need special tab ordering...that's not usually a problem, in most programming environments, till now. Now I have to go around the world and back just to get my stupid cursor to be in the right place when I hit the tab key??!!! and special key mappings just to get out of a focus cycle...lame.
And how is an IDE graphical designer going to work with this? It's not, that's how...ok maybe if some kind person or company creates a custom focus traversal policy editor of some kind, I don't know.
Good grief Sun! We need something to help us meet our deadlines, not solutions that force us to spend 80% of our time customizing every stinking bit of UI functionality we need!!!
JTables are even worse. I've mastered most of the garbage that is JTable after many months of pain and I don't know how I'm going to help my peers understand them in any short amount of time. Most of them were Oracle Forms programmers, not that that is any great solution either. But they will likely have problems.
In conclusion, I wish I had chosen another UI technology for our new product client, and may yet.

After 4.3.3 update, with International assist enable, all US calls start with 001 area code number. If disabled, works as before upgrade. New feature ? working as new design?

I upgrade my 3GS yesterday to version 4.3.3 without changing any settings. Now all incomming US calls are displayed starting with 001 + AC + Number. Incomming calls do not match entrys in contacts list. Calling number cannot be dialed back with the way the number presented e.g. 001 +.
International assist is enabled under settings. When International Assist is disable, works as it has for the past year + (the way it should)
Is this a new feature with version 4.3.3?
Or working as new design feature?

Which Macs have graphics cards that are specifically designed to work best with CS6?

I'm currently using a late-2009 24" iMac but it just isn't robust enough for some of the the programs included in CS6 (After Effects, Premiere Pro, for example). I'm planning to buy a new Mac, but I would like to know if there is one or more that has/have graphics cards that are specifically designed to work well with CS6, and if not, were I to purchase a Mac Pro, would I be able to replace the factory graphics card with an after-market card that does? If you are not in the 4K business --> I would go for the 32 GB & 27" iMac w/o Retina, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M mit 4 GB GDDR5 (CUDA support) will give you quite a good performance, i.e. with a Thunderbolt connected Raid6 system your 2K projects (including some color correction and other plugins) will work well and you can even use the system as 4k starter/test system.
If you in the 4K business you could use a full blown iMac Retina system with a GPU AMD Radeon R9 M295X mit 4 GB GDDR5 together with an already mentioned TB Raid6 system. As described from the forum-compatriots, this non-CUDA card doesn't perform too well on GPU accelerated functions of PPro --> but --> search this forum... you will be surprised....some workflows are nearly unaffected....
If you are in the high end 4K footage busine$$ and you apply a lot of external color correction to your 4k footage (e.g. BM DaVinci) I would go for a MPro with 2 D700 cards.

I use a virtual server to complete my web design work and recently downloaded firefox 3.6.13. Now when I try to use the browser offline all I get is a message telling me firefox is currently in offline mode and to uncheck the "work offline" in the file menu.
