Working on a ONE PAGE scrolling site but MUSE is WAY slower than normal.

I downloaded a one page scrolling template from http://qooqee.com/ but it is so slow that I can't even type into text boxes without waiting at least 45 sec. Is there a known issue with MUSE right now or is it related to the template?

I have seen many cases where that actually is the reason why Muse works slow. It freezes, as evertime it try to access the asset it takes long. Is it possible that you can move them to the same folder as the .muse file is and then check if Muse still runs slow.

There is more to a PHP page than just changing the extension from .html to .php. You can trick the server into processing the PHP code in an HTML file. Here is an explanation. Basically you add a single line to your .htaccess file on the web server.

One Page Scrolling Site with anchors and a navigation bar with submenus

Hi,
I create a one page scrolling site with some anchors.
Now I want to have a navigation bar with submenus, i.g. one navigation leads to "projects", but within projects I need 6 submenus for every project.
How can I realize this in muse?

Create a Manual menu and link to the anchors.
Widgets Library/Menus/Horizontal
In the Options pull out screen: Menu Type: Manual
Mark each menu box you create and link to the specific anchor.

One page scrolling site, why do anchors move horizontally as well as vertically?

I've created a one page scrolling site, my problem comes up when I added anchors. Seems that whenever the button brings me to the anchor it moves my page horizontally as well as vertically. I haven't had this happen before.

In Muse, when you click on a link to an anchor, Muse tries to align the anchor point to the top left of the browser, that is why you see a vertical shift. To fix this, I will recommend that you align your anchors to the browser's left margin.

I am quite keen on the idea of a big one page site that you scroll vertically and horizontally. I am testing some flash content (3 pages down, 1 & 2 across) which works perfectly well in Safari, Firefox, Opera but I recently tried it in Explorer after loading Parallels on my mac and it does strange things on the row with the flash.
Most people I know have macs so I don't know whether the problem is with my set up or whether PCs in general will not cope.
Anybody any idea why? I will take out all the flash if it means PCs are going to have problems.

Well..I went to your site again today and to be yet honest yet again it is SLOW! I have one off the fastest connections to date (for my line of work) and I lost my patience waiting. With today's standards on speed it was slow. I will also hate to tell you that your idea of such a large one page site is not new. This is why the web is what it is today. Studies have shown that users lose their patience with scrolling which is why you are seeing more and more sites even trying to avoid vertical scrolling. If you look around the web you will also notice that content such as text are also getting narrower within pages...meaning that the users eye does not like to travel long distances west to east while reading text. Shorter lines and longer columns of text are much easier to read...much like a newspaper.
Those are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to usability and functionality issues with large one page layouts. I have not even mentioned the issues with mobile devices that it would have (which is the true future for us all web designers).
As far as the new Apple Mouse. Mice have been able horizontal scroll for years so that is nothing new...that is just another case where Apples marketing has made it sound like a fantastic refreshing idea. Just because something can do something does not mean it is good. I have a horizontal scrolling mouse and never use it.
I don't mean to crash your party. The site does look good and I also tested it in IE8 an 7 and seems the flash is ok so I'm not sure of the issue your are having. I think the site would be a much better place in pages.

Creating a 1 page scrolling site - problems with the final section scrolling too far

I have created a 1 page scrolling site that works fine apart from the final section, which scrolls too far. My site is made up of a pinned headr, a pinned footer, and 4 sections (defined by rectangles - each one 1011 pixels high). I have used scroll effects to bring the items in and out.

The problem is with the contact us section, where you seem to be able to scroll further than the bottom section.
These are my document set up settings:
so my height is set to 4042 (though I have tried it with 4044 - 4x1011 - it makes no difference. When I click on the link to the contact section it looks fine, but I then seem to be able to scroll further down, and this seems dependant on the monitor / browser size. The problem is more pronounced with a smaller monitor / browser size in height.
I have tried everything I can think of to make it not scroll beyond what the anchor takes it to when I click on the link, but whatever I do the problem seems to persist.
I would welcome any suggestions on this, and also any general feedback on the site. But help with the problem first please.

Thanks for the help. Is there a way that I can upload the file for someone to look at - I have tried your suggestion but cannot find any empty text boxes or anything at the bottom. I have gone top right and tried the upload file section but it tells me that I am not allowed the create the content.

Updating my one page web site

Hello,
I made a one page web site: Inbal Kaplan
It is made with anchors that lets you click an image or a menu item and it scrolls smoothly across the page.
The problem is that in order to update the site (i.e add image to the middle of the page), I have to move all anchors and all images manually.
Is there a way to build the site in a different manner that will allow easier update process?
For example, have a different page for each category for easy editing, and have them all finely add up to a single page?

Creating iphoto book and can't seem to view/ work on only one page at a time.

I am creating an iPhoto book and can't seem to view/work on only one page at a time. The Navigator, that allows you to focus on a part of the page is actually 1 1/2 pages in size so 1 1/2 pages are in view when trying to work on one page. What am I doing wrong or how can I fix this. It is very distracting viewing half of a previous page when trying to create a new page and write a story to go with the related pictures.

My Navigator seems to be to large. It covers 1 1/2 pages while in the training information it shows as the size of one page. Is there a way to adjust the size of the Navigator?
You can hover the mouse over the left border of the Navigator - then the cursor will turn into a resize cursor and you can drag the border and make the Navigator panel smaller by enlarging the source list.
Or drag the lower right corner of the iPhoto window and shrink the appliaction window. This will only make the navigator smaller - the source list and information panel will stay the same size.

One-page scrolling website not displaying correctly on Dell computers

I am having issues with my current one-page scrolling website displaying correctly on Dell computers. I am able to view it perfectly on a MAC. How do I make sure the website will open correctly on different screen monitors? My current page properties W: 1020 H: 31281. Do I need to recreate the document with a smaller page width? Some of my images within the website appear larger on certain screens and smaller on others. Is this common?

Cut and paste operation in Hyperion Planning is slower than normal web page

We understand the web form under Hyperion Planning has many useful functions built-in but we also encountered some user complains that the operation inside the web form is relatively slower than normal web page. When user cut and paste 20 to 50 cells content, they need to wait 1 to 5 seconds on the "copy" function.
Any workaround can be implemented to improved the user experience? We have asked Oracle whether we can disable the SQL statement behind but no firm reply yet.

Yes SmartView should improve the operational speed. However as not all of our users are using SmartView we are looking for some ways to improve the web form speed.

Need help with Firefox display issue on one page of site

I have a page that W3C validates, displays properly in IE and Netscape, but does not display properly in Firefox. The issue is with a style class applied to the inner centered table. class= "vert_table" This class works on all of the other pages in the site, but not in this one.

I have been looking through this code for two days, searching for any offending omission in code or redundancy that would break the page. I've searched for missing div tags but none are apparent to me. I'm hoping someone with fresh eyes can spot it right away.
It's odd that the page validates but Firefox cannot display it properly.

Hi Jim, thanks for the reply. Your suggestions sound interesting but I'd like to figure out why this particular page doesn't work when all of the others do. I'm sure it's just a little code thing that I'm overlooking.
I could revert back to a saved page, but I updated text and images on this page before the verticle border broke, so I don't want to lose those edits. And that is why I'd like to fix this one instead of redesigning the page.
BTW, I forgot to mention in my first post, GoLive CS, W2K.

Anchors won't solve this problem. Let me explain whats going on there..When we scroll down the page,a single mouse scroll is considered as a page down function or you can say when the page is being scrolled 650 pixels are scrolled at a time. Its a javascript method if you are into coding then go for it. You've already mentioned the github link. Its not possible in muse right now..

One domain, 2 sites but I only want one of them!!

I hope someone can help. My laptop was stolen earlier this year. At that point I was unaware of how to transfer my website created in iweb to another computer and so created a new website. I was actually quite happy to do this as the old website had become a bit tired and was in need of a refresh. I created the new site, using iWeb on my new laptop and was content with this until I discovered that my 'old' website was still lurking around. Confusingly on the same domain. How do I get rid of it? The worst bit is is that right now it is ranking higher in Google than my newer 'real' one. People are obviously looking at it from some old links. That's the problem with getting yourself popular on the internet - its not so easy to disappear!
I would have thought it would be better to publish the new files with the same folder name as the old one....

That way the new files would simply overwrite the old on your iDisk and you won't have to start from square one with SEO. Also your original site name and home page name are a lot better for SEO than the generic "Site" and "Home". If you want to be found by search engines, avoid these page names such as "About", "Contact" etc, like the plague.

One site on MUSE is very slow

I have several sites that I created using Adobe MUSE where everything works perfectly. One of my newer sites which is VERY small (only 8 pages) takes forever to load. Once it's loaded it seems to work just fine. Uploading via FTP is also extremely slow. The process takes about 5 minutes for only 8 pages and minimal images.
Can anybody tell me how to resolve this issue? Help!

Frankly I am sick and tired of hearing about the slowness of the software... its so bad that the most common phrase I can associate with Muse is "Adobe Muse Not Responding"
There is absolutely no rhyme nor reason as to when the software starts to lagggggggg, it has a mind of its own.... more often than not I have to force quit it to get it running again.... I only ever open Photoshop to adjust photo's etc for my site
If I start typing text on a page I may as well go and make myself a cup of tea whilst the software catches up with me and I can return to my Mac and actually watch the text start appearing... This is just one of the many issues which make Muse frustrating... its frustrating because it is a brilliant concept and better than anything else but is pretty much unusable for any site that has more than 5 pages. It should come with a warning sign that you may need to buy yourself a brand new and highly specced computer with no other software on it in order to run the software.... and it should come with anti stress pills.
Not much point in me putting my computer specs here or what my exact problems are.... I am just adding my name to the list of many people with good spec machines trying to run the slowest program ever in a normal way.
I for one am going to start learning Dreamweaver.

I just bought a macbook pro which worked amazingly the first few days. But now it runs worse than my old computers. How can I fix this?

I've barely had it for a week and its starting to run slow. Wepages take forever to load and its impossible top watch any videos online. I am connected wirelessly. My other much older laptop is working fine on this connection and for a few days my Macbook Pro was lightning fast. Now it runs slower than my 3 year old laptop. Also some videos tend to get choppy when I move the mouse. The audio, however, continues uninterrupted. The laptop also started taking some time to shut down. I bought this open-box from Bestbuy. And right now Im realizing that this is actually a Macbook Pro Mid 2010 after looking up the specs which is strange as the box it was in says 2012.
Processor: 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 288 MB
Software OS X Lion 10.7.3
Macbook HD: 731.83 GB free out of 749.3 GB.
Could the problem be that this is a 2010 laptop? I can still return it as its been a week.
I've cleared the cache, cookies, and history but it has little effect on the way videos and pages load.

Where did you buy this laptop? I know if I opened a box expecing and having paid for a 2012 model and found a 2010 model, I'd be back at the store demanding an exchange quicker than you could imagine. Open box or not, if you thought you were buying a 2012 model, you should get what you paid for.
