Working on iPod playlists while not connected?.............

The first gen. Shuffle allowed me to do this, and it would update later when connected, but my second gen playlist only appears when the Shuffle is connected to my MacBook, is it possible to change this?

The " Keep This iPod in the Source List" function isn't included in iTunes 7. You can check out a workaround at this link which may help out in it's absence: Create ready-to-sync playlists for Shuffles in iTunes 7

  • Deleting Playlist While Not Connected To PC / IToonz

    Hello,
Can someone from Apple please explain to me as efficiently as possible how to remove playlists / songs from my IPod without being connected to a computer or IToonz?
If this is not possible (rhetorical question), can you please tell me if I am correct in assuming that Apple has time after time "accidently" forgotten to add this feature to it's operating system? Why is it that you have purposefully not included this feature?
Is this because you want to nurture and teach people to be dependant on ITunes / ITunes store?
    Thanks
    Neoborn.

Only speculating, but I suspect it has never been added because:
    1) not that many users actually want it (or want other feature a lot more,
    2) not having prevents morons from deleting stuff on the iPod and then complianing later that Apple lets them delete things, or
    3) its actually a grand fascist conspiracy aimed just at you since, well, your life is just going to end if you actually have to take 30 seconds to sync the iPod and delete something.

  • My iPod touch is not connecting to iCloud account, under iCloud settings has old email account and username that I have since updated and are working correctly on my iPad, any idea how I can reset this?

My iPod touch is not connecting to my iCloud account, under iCloud settings it  has my old email account and username that I have since updated and are working correctly on my iPad, any idea how I can reset this on the iPod or otherwise? This old account info keeps coming back on my iPod and messing up access to my apple account and now the icloud. last time a system restore needed to be done to fix it....

It won't give me the option to sign out of the old account, it's that light grey color that you can't click on. And since it has the old email address that it's telling me to go into to verify the account, I can't actually change it... I'm stuck

  • Ipod shuffle will not connect to itunes on win7

Ipod touch will not connect to Itunes on WIN7. Used to work on Vista but has never worked on new WIN7 computer. Tried several cables and tried an Ipod shuffle. No joy. Current version of Itunes, restarted apple services and checked USB driver installed and functioning. When first plugged in, windows wants to know how to treat it (camera, file directory...)  and for a few moments shows it as a drive. Device also shows syncing for a few moments. Then Itunes starts, the device stops sync and windows no longer shows it as a drive. Itunes does not show the device but wants to transfer purchases from the device (transfer purchases from an ipod?). I tried the steps given in on-line help and the diagnostic. Must be missing something in the setup of Ituines. Any suggestions...

Sorry sorry I am a not clear on apple product names. Actually do not care about the names. So I had to look this up so as not to offend anybody. I am talking an ipod nano gen4 AND and ipod nano gen7. Neither work. Can you direct me to somebody who might know how to fix this?

  • IPod 4th gen not connecting to wifi?

Ok, so here is what happened,
I have had this Ipod since December 2010 I believe, haven't had any major wifi problems with it until now. the wifi has always been on and off I guess, but right now its off like never before. My mom decided to change the wifi password (ended up changing it back) and now the ipod will now connect to the wifi. I have another ipod of the same model (been around for the same time, don't ask, long story) and once the wifi password was changed back, that ipod connected just fine with no problems, didn't even have to re-input the password (same with my iPhone 4). but this ipod that im having trouble with isn't connecting. on the settings, itll say the name of the wifi as if its connected (no wifi bars) but when I go to the wifi settings, it just shows the loading spinning symbol next to the wifi name, and then it will show the same symbol next to "choose a network...", and then it just keeps doing that. It does not say "unable to connect" or anything like that. Ive reset the network settings, ive forgotten the network at least 5 times and have re-entered the password also. ive turned my ipod off a couple times, connected it to iTunes, the whole lot of it. I don't know if its just the wifi (seems considerably weaker since the password was changed, and it was pretty weak to begin with) or what. I can answer any more questions to help find a solution.
And I can not upgrade the wifi, apparently its as upgraded as it can be. But the other two devices still work, but this one ipod is just not connecting. also, the ipod is updated.

Yes, it connected to another network, for some reason it wont connect to mine. I'm right next to the router, but my other devices work, so I don't know if its the network or the iPod. I took it to a store (home button was broken) and they were able to connect it to their Wi-Fi, so I guess it isn't a problem inside the iPod. But, as I said, the three phones in my family all connect, CPU connects, other iPods connect, Xbox 360 connects, my sister's laptop connects, and my tablet connects.... I just got the iPod back from repairing the home button and I reset it (wasn't able to before, assistive touch home button wouldn't let me reset) and it still wont connect. Its weird, because the Wi-Fi bars under the Wi-Fi settings will be shown blue as if its connected (It wont have the check next to it, it will only show the loading spinning symbol; I've left the iPod open and it just keeps loading, it wont say unable to connect, and obviously it wont connect) however the bars are not next to the word "iPod" at the top of the screen. also, in the man page of the settings, the Wi-Fi will not say "not connected", it will actually say the name of my Wi-Fi as if it were connected, but there is not actual connection.
Thanks, hopefully I wont have to restore it... really don't want to do that.

  • IPod Touch will not connect to wi-fi away from home

I realise this may not be a fresh topic but I've searched and cannot find an answer.
My Touch - more or less brand new - connects to my home wi-fi with no hassle. Syncs, the whole bit. Lovely.
But it won't work away from my home. It recognises wi-fi networks, let's me connect to them but won't actually let me access webpages or update my mail. The mail aspect is the biggest problem as I'm away from it most of the day and bought the Touch to solve the problem. It says it's updating but nothing is downloaded.
Accessing the internet, even with wi-fi apparently switched on, doesn't work either. I've even tried renewing leases on wi-fi networks but it still won't work. Please help.

    Hello
Couple reasons for why iPod Touch will not connect to WiFi Networks outside the house
    1. They are using Mac Address Filtering. Which require the WiFi address in your iPod Touch to be programmed into their WiFi Router. Not much you can do to fix that unless you know who owns the network and they are willing to add you
    2. The networks are running in 802.11 n Speed only mode. Thus iPod Touch will not connect as the touch only supports 802.11 B/G connections. They could also be using the old 802.11 (A) connection on the network as well
    3. As stated earlier they could have outdated Firmware/Software on the router. Thus making the router out of date and not able to connect modern day devices. So if you know the owner it may be advised they contact router manufacture or their tech to update the firmware/software and see if touch connects after
    4. Outdated Touch Software. Ensure you have the latest free version of the iPod Touch Software. If you have yet to get one of the paid versions you may wish to research and or see if a friend has a newer software on their touch and is able to connect to the networks you can not.
    5. WiFi Network security the hot spot is using. Sometimes old standard WEP security can prevent Touch from properly connecting and getting on the network. It is recommended if you know the owner or tech that runs it to try and use WEP 128 bit 13 character password or stronger more modern day wifi security.
If they are using 40/64 bit WEP. Try adding a $ and then the password that they provide you and see if you can connect.
If you get the time please visit your local Apple retail store so they can further look into the touch and test it on the store wifi network. If for some reason it does not work there and they determine possible HW service is needed they will speak about your in warranty options.

  • My ipod touch will not connect to wi fi.

My ipod touch will not connect to wi fi.  I have tried reseting, I have the correct password.  I even took my ipod back to factory and nothing.  Any ideas/advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • IPod classic will not connect/sync/charge on iMac

I have a 160GB iPod classic that suddenly will not connect, sync, or charge when I connect it to my iMac. I recently switched from a PC laptop to an iMac and restored the iPod so it would work on the Mac, put most of my music on my iPod and it worked fine. Once I got the rest of my music onto my Mac, I attempted to connect my iPod and sync the rest of it, but it won't connect. The battery icon doesn't have the flash or plug icon, and it won't show up on my computer or in iTunes. It still plays fine and WILL charge if I plug it into the wall outlet, but that's all. I've tried resetting the iPod several times restarted my computer with it plugged in, but nothing I can think of seems to work. It also will not connect to my PC laptop either. Any suggestions?

Are you sure that your iPod CLASSIC (160GB) is formatted as a MAC?
Just had similar and iPod CLASSIC is like a MINI HARDDRIVE.
Had to reformat it from Windows Fat32 to MACKINTOSH format.
Had no problem with battery icon though (so that is separate issue from my problem).
Late post but it was today's issue for me (Aug 6th)

  • I have a 3rd Generation iPod that will not connect to Home Wi-Fi- keeps dismissing- saying unable to connect.

I have a 3rd Generation iPod that will NOT connect to our internet connection at home. Message on screen keeps saying it is 'unable' to connect. Yes I have already reset to default factory settings, No we do not have our service encrypted or password protected, anyone else have any other viable suggestions as to how to fix this problem?

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
    Did the iPod connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
