Working on oracle application 11 and 12 versions

Hi all....
Can any one help me how i can run the oracle application R11 and 12 on the same browser?
I have IE8 and my operation system is windows XP.
Note: i can just run r12 but when i'm trying to run r11 the error messege (close explorer) is appear.

By "R11", do you mean 11i (11.5.x) or 11.0.3 ? If the former, then IE8 is a certified browser, assuming certain software levels/patches are met - see MOS Doc 285218.1 (Recommended Browsers for Oracle E-Business Suite 11i). If you are referrign to 11.0.3, then it is a really old de-supported version that is not certified with IE8.

*** may have found a fix ? *** Thanks to your post re: GDI objects I checked task manager ( added column "GDI objects")and saw 700+ whereas working 6.18 was 160 ish Got thinking - what could possibly use that many GDI objects ( firefox only uses a few hundred and it's a platform ) Then it hit me - emoticons ! So in tools/ options/ IM&SMS/ IM Appearance unchecked "show emoticons"and also unchecked "show images and other media previews"restarted Skype and GDI objects now only 164 ( down from 729 )and all other windows are repainting fine and are usable again( my problem was RDP sessions that became unusable, as I work remotely ) To be sure, have rechecked the options and restarted skype and see 700+GDI objects ( goes up from 660 when place call to echo/sound test )and removed them again to get only 164have also rebooted a few times and gone through the whole processof unchecking emoticons, restart, rechecking emoticons, restart to make sure itsnot a fluke. pretty sure this has fixed it for me ( so I now have a working 7.6.0.105 on XP SP3 ),and as your problem "sounds" the same I hope it also works for you. Date Formats in Oracle Applications Forms and Oracle Self Service

Can someone tell me what determines the Date format that appears on Oracle Applications Forms and Oracle Self Service ?
*1.* In Oracle HRMS,all dates i see on the Forms are of the Format "MM/DD/YYYY" but my NLS Parameters are not in this format .I'm giving the results for the NLS parameters below.I thought the date formats are determined by the NLS format.Is there something else that determines the date format appearing on Oracle Applications Forms ?

Here are the profile options I'm seeing for one of my instance :
ICX: Date format mask - 12/31/1999
ICX: Date language - American English
ICX: Language - American English
ICX: NLS Sort - BINARY
ICX: Territory - United States
ICX: Numeric characters - NULL
NLS parameters are given in my original email.
In Self Service applications(OAF) ,the date format is appearing in "mm/dd/yyyy" format but when i login to Forms based applications ,I see the date format as "dd-mon-yyyy".What determines this date format ?
How can i make the date format to always return one format everywhere ,be it Self Service (OAF) or Oracle Forms ?
I'm getting date format related errors for my code because of default date formats changing intermittently when i log into Self Service.I want to know if there is anyway to prevent this from happening?

what is the exact difference between oracle application server and weblogic application server?

The difference between Oracle Application Server AND WebLogic Server has been discussed in a lot of forums dated 2008 and earlier comparing OAS10g with WebLogic10.0/WebLogic9.2
But, now since Oracle has taken over WebLogic, this is not really important.
Now, OAS has no further releases post 10g. WebLogic Server will be the Oracle's strategic application server going forward.
So, if your query is for choosing one of them for a new environment, you are better of with WebLogic Server 10.3.6 OR WebLogic Server 12g
As we will not have further releases of OAS and also OAS10g will be end of life soon, we recommend Oracle WebLogic Server.

I am getting login pag not found error for e-buz home page. iAS Server is runnung fine.(One more thing setup is failed after 100% installation. I mean it did once more system check and the error was jsp not resonding. And no action after that just sinply close that message windoe and manually close setup dialog)
What might me the error.

Difference between Oracle Application Express and Oracle Forms/Reports

hi guys,
i have just use oracle apex to create some report generation tools through the web. know that this is what is known as html db in the past.
however, i have not really touch oracle forms and reports before, neither have i really seen how they work.. but soemhow i feel oracle report/forms seems to be more.. then this oracle apex.
it includes integration with web services, java and pl/sql .
but i still cant really figure out what is the actual general main difference ?
is it that for oracle forms there can be some programming logic inside , whereas for apex , it is just using what is available from what oracle provides ..
i am read oracle form white paper, but seriously, i am not a very web guy. it has alot of components that i am not familiar with.
so i hope you guys can just give me a more general rough idea.

... most Forms & Reports users will tend to be old installed base customers using applications developed many years ago in F&R such as insurance company cores and even banking cores. Going from client/server F&R6 to "web" F&R10g is costly as you have to license an application server and most likely need to migrate to recent versions of the DB in case the customer is still on oracle 8 (common occurrence). So many customers opt. to not migrate or to simply invest in new web enabled solutions.
Using the migration tool f&r installed base will have an easier job of migrating and at a price of whatever DB edition they are using and probably be able to do it with the same people who maintain their f&r systems provided they learn a bit about web technologies.
what might be interesting to see is performance perception of users on f&r vs. apex...

Client-cert auth impl in web.xml does not work in Oracle Application Server

I am new to implementing security features on the web applications.. I have developed a new web service using jdev1012 and deployed in OAS 10.1.2. Its working fine according to the business requirements, but I am in need of implementing client-cert authentication to enable the web service available to only those who have client certificate.
My server details are:
Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
Server certificate is in place and SSL mode have been already enabled.. able to access my web service through https://<mydomain.com>/myws/TreqWS as well able to see the WSDL file through https://<mydomain.com>/myws/TreqWS?WSDL.
I tried to include the following in my web.xml file as part of implementing CLIENT-CERT authentication.

It is not woking as expected, though I have restarted my oc4j container after including this content to the web.xml file. i.e, I am able to invoke the web service though my sample java client program, though I donot have client certificate/keystore.
I believe I am missing something..Can anyone help me in this regard to implement CLIENT-CERT authentication successfully?

I am having the same problem with doc and xsl. I have added this
<mime-mapping>
<extension>xls</extension>
<mime-type>application/vnd.ms-excel</mime-type>
</mime-mapping>

<mime-type>application/msword</mime-type>
</mime-mapping>
to my web.xml. I even restarted the server. I still see doc and xsl in binary.
Is there some other setting that needs to take place?
I am using WL6.1 with fixpack 1.
I can see the doc and excel files in the browser if I don't go through the weblogic
server. That just confirms it's not my browser.

Oracle Applications 11i and R12 on Laptop

I have installed Oracle Applications 11.5.10 and R12 on linux RHEL UP7 in Dell Laptop as different users.
Laptop has the H/W configuration is 4GB Ram and Coure2duo 1.7 Processor speed.

when i am shutdown the R11i able to accessing the R12 fine.But where as i am not able to accessing the both at time.its working one only at a time either 11i or R12.

What if you stop the CM on both instances, can you access the R12 page then?
I believe 4 GB of RAM is insufficient to run both instances in addition to the OS, so review the following threads for some tips on how to tune your R12 instance (posted by Michael (mdtaylor)):

Hardware Sizing for Oracle Application Server and MapViewer

Hi all,
I need to develop an application using Oracle Application Server 10g and MapViewer. The applicaction will, basically, do thematic maps based on a search criteria. The estimative is that we will have 25 users simultaneously using it.
I´d like to have an idea about the hardware to support it.
Do you know where I can get this information?

Hi Luis,
It may depend on your database size, but I think at least you need to meet the minimum requirements for the Application Server. You can find additional documentation for the AS at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/index.html.
However I would suggest some extra memory, and if possible the better CPU that you can get. MapViewer will render the spatial features on the server side, and depending on your database size and number of features returned from the queries, this extra memory will help.

OC4J is only the Oracle Container for Java, using a inner HTTP Server.
Oracle Application Server, the components depend of the installation type.
Components
1. OC4J : Oracle container for Java ... without inner HTTP Server, this component use Apache to presentation tier.
2. OC4J_SECURITY (SSO) : Single SingOn
3. Forms and Report Server, Wireless ....
4. Apache : Presentation Tier (use .so or .dll) for OC4J
All the components of this suite are controlled by the OPMN (This component is installed in the OC4J).
OPMN : Oracle Process Manager to control all the components.

Getting Window help in Oracle Applications 11 and 11i.

I installed Oracle 11 on Windows NT. I have few problems.
1) I am not getting window help for every screen.
2) I am not able to install client on other machines. I am getting the welcome screen.
3) The output from requests is not coming in the HTML window ie., Internet Explorer. It is giving "file not found" error.
Please help me out.

This discussion forum is intended for help authors and developers who are implementing help systems using Oracle Help for Java (OHJ) and Oracle Help for the Web (OHW). Perhaps one of the Oracle E-Business Suite forums would be more helpful for you. For example, you might want to try E-Business Suite > Administration > Managing Oracle Applications.
