Working on PPro CS4 footage/project in AE CS4

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this particular forum, so please be gentle!
I have shot some video that I want to stabilise in AE, so I went into Premiere and chose my best clips and shortened some clips to a second or so longer than they need to be (at the start and end) ready for AE and leaving me enough footage to edit with after its been motion tracked.
I understand I should be able to open the PPro project in AE, and technically it does open, but then I get problems.
It asks me which sequence I'd like opened, so I choose the one I want, I then drag the sequence into the timeline (it creates a new composition automatically for me) and a solid timeline appears for the full 17 mins of footage of over an hours worth I have selected and trimmed down (in PPro).
Now I should be able to see the individual clips, each in a separate layer shouldn't I?
Well I cannot, this is all I see:
(Click to see higher res version)
I heard I could also copy and paste clips over from PPro to AE, so I tried that. But that doesn't give me the trimmed clip, just the entire clip I captured...
I don't really want to have to export individual clips from PPro to stablise in AE, only then to have export them back out of AE to edit in PPro, so what can I do??
Cheers.
--- EDIT ---
I forgot to say that I have also tried sending the sequence to AE from PPro using the Dynamic Link, but all I get is a new composition with a length of 30 seconds that I cannot drag into the timeline...

Not with the method you used which is - *tatah* -  DynamicLink. As of CS4 this works both ways. It's easy to confuse with the conventional file import, so I recommend you try this again. There should be other entries further down in your import list simply labeled Premiere Project (legacy projects up to Premiere 6.5) and Premiere Pro Project. These will give you the expected behavior. Regarding the Replace Clip with Composition thing - it's merely a workflow to create quick placeholders from within Premiere. It works as designed and cannot be used to exchange data. You can however use its brother Create Composition from Selected Clips to get something similar to a direct PPro import. Look in the Premiere help for the specifics, as I'm typing this I'm on my Mac (sans Premiere) and I'm not using Premiere much to begin with. The functions are there, but I may have gotten their names wrong.

  • Why is my mic suddenly not working in PPro CS4?

    Hi
I have a mac running CS4 Premiere Pro.
I'm using a SM57 mic which I plug into a pre-amp to boost the sound and then from this box I plug into the line-in slot on my mac. I'm recording simple voice-overs over silent footage.
It's all been working beautifully. But now it's not receiving any sound (the green bars don't move) and I can't work out why.
It's not the pre-amp, cables or mic - they all work fine through garageband (but the sound quality isn't nearly as good so I don't want to use that and then export to PPro)
I'm certain I have set it up as I always have done. I'm completely baffled as to what has gone wrong.
    Any suggestions much appreciated...

When something works one day, but not the next, then something has changed. The task is to find out what has changed. My first guess would be that an Audio Hardware setting in PrPro has changed, Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware. The second would be that something has changed in the OS, but as the mic still functions in other programs, but not in PrPro, I moved this down to #2, for possible causes.
Check the Audio Hardware settings in PrPro, and maybe upload screen-caps of the dialog screens, so that others can see the settings, if nothing jumps out at you.
If nothing is wrong in Audio Hardware, I would Delete, Move or Rename the Preferences file for PrPro. I will not even try to talk you though that on a Mac, as I will certainly mess things up, being a PC-guy. PrPro will regenerate a new Preferences file, though you will have to then manually adjust those, as you require, since it will be the install default Preferences. Maybe a Mac-user can give you directions on how to do this. On a PC, one would just hold down the Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys, while doing the full launch of the program, all the way through that launch. Or, they could go into the folder structure, and locate the Preferences file, and either Deleting it, Moving it, or Renaming it.
    Good luck,

  • PPro CS4 with Windows 7 (64 bit) slow after upgrading to CS4.2.1

I upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit recently. Before I worked with PPro CS4 (4.2.1) in Windows XP 32 bit and performance was fine. My system is not up to date (Opteron dual core, 4GB, ATI Radeon 3870), but performance was o.k. Since Windows 7 I had problems running HD footage natively (e.g. Sony XDCAM) in the timeline (it simply stops after two three seconds). I also had problems using vob-files (which under XP was very smooth). I reinstalled and figured out, that PPro runs better without upgrading to vers. 4.2.1. So for everyone who is suffering a lack of performance after switching to Windows 7, try this, it might help a little.

I had a somewhat similar experience with the 4.2.1 upgrade with my computer. With my Q6600 running at 3.2 GHz, Vista x64 and with PPro CS4/4.1 update, I ran the PPBM4 benchmark and scored an 83.8. I then installed Win 7 x64, clean install etc… and re-ran the PPBM4 benchmark, with the same 4.1 update and with all system configurations the same as before, my score improved to 68.8, fantastic! I was very impressed with Win 7 x64.
This was short-lived because I updated PPro from 4.1 to 4.2.1, re-ran the PPBM4 benchmark and my score fell to 83.1 seconds, not impressed with the 4.2.1 update as far as this benchmark was concerned. I replaced the Q6600 with a Q9450, also over clocked to 3.2 GHz and with Win 7 x64, ran the PPBM4 benchmark and scored a 68.1; I got back everything I had lost in system speed from the 4.2.1 update plus some.
The Q6600 does not have the SSE4 instruction set while the Q9450 does. Perhaps the 4.2.1 update benefited CPU’s with SSE4 while those CPU’s without it, took a performance hit, just a guess.

  • Loading Project problem in Adobe Ppro CS4

Just registered in this forum and I hope you guys can help me out.
I've been editing in PPro CS4 for quite sometime now and my main problem is during the loading of the project.
    here are my specs:
    Processor: i7 @ 2.8ghz
    OS: Win7 Ultimate 32-bit
    RAM: 4GB
    VC: ATI HD4670 1GB/128 bit
    Storage:       C: - 320GB 7200rpm Seagate SATA
                       D: - 1TB  7200rpm Western Digital SATA
since I upgraded drastically from a Quad 2 Core to an i7 I decided to use the HD1080i30 (60i) preset in Pprocs4 since I have a sanyo xacti1010 HD cam. But up to now I am unable to finish my video because after the project loads up many of my clips turn into green screen while others no longer play the actual clip.
    now my questionS are:
    1. Is it because my computer can't handle the specific preset or is my camera not compatible with the preset. If not, which preset should I use?
    2. If it's not because of the preset, then where can I find the source of the problem? Specs? Software? Me? :|
I'm not the techie type and I am just starting to understand the technical aspects of editing. I hope a lot of you can help me out because I'm losing my mind and I really want to start editing again.
    THANKS in advance!

The Xacti uses it's own version of some MPEG4 codec. That works great with applications like Nero or Ulead, typical consumer applications. PR however is more oriented to standard video camera formats, that are shown in the available presets, like AVCHD.
There have been more questions about the Xacti and how to make it work, but I think these are mainly in the Premiere Elements forum. I would look around in the PE forum and do a search. You may come up with relevant asnwers.

  • PPro CS4 not holding "interpreted footage" settings

I have a project underway which had a combination of footage (given to me) in both 1440x1080 and 1920x1080 (all AVI files).
I have used "interpret footage" to correct the ratio on the 1920x1080 footage and looks fine. Done my edit.
I noticed on exporting that the aspect ratio on the interpretted footage exported incorrectly.
Every single time I re-open my project some of the interpretted footage has returned back to original aspect ratio. Sometimes it has not. The inconcsistency alone is annoying as I cannot fathom a logical answer.
Sometimes only some have reverted back to original aspect ratio. The 1440x1080 stuff is fine.
Can anyone explain this as I cannot export or fix it.
The only extra info I can give which MAY be significant is that in Windows Explorer, when a clip is highlighted, it says the ratio is 1440x1080, but when imported into PPro CS4 it says 1920x1080 - which I cannot explain.
All other preferences and settings are holding fine, just the "interpreted" footage.
    Any help appreciated.
    Setup is:
    Premiere Pro CS4
    Windows 7
    32 Bit Operating System
    4GB RAM
    INtel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU  6600@ 2.4Ghz 2.39 Ghz

  • PPRO CS4 doesn't work?

I got PPro CS4 (french edition) by the adobe store. Download several times. Double click. A blank window opens with the title (Adobe premiere. this software doesn't answer). Sometimes, it carshes. Sometimes, it works. I put some clip on the timeline but I can't export on a tape or through media encoder. On the tape, there is nothing. Encore answers: "can't find the files". But I can see the film on the monitors. After that, PPro CS4 was unable to find the project.
Nothing has been moved and to make sure a new download and a new clean installation have been made.
make a phone call to adobe and I'm waiting for ...
I ask also to downgrade to PPro I bought to the adobe store in 2003. But this is no more available!
    I really appreciate any help

    Hello,
    Thanks Robert for the link.
There are one or two problems:
    1)PPros CS4 crashed when launched
2)A problem with media encoder (maybe 2 comes from 1)
The second problem looks (at least partially or it's a variant) like the problem described by Ruby45 in your forum and solved(?) by Johan973. (error messages are similar).
    Some comments:
    1) I have also photoshopCS (zero) and adobe web premium cs3 suite. Recently due to conflict between extension manager cs3 and cs4 i got a hard time to move the pvii extension from dw8 to dwcs3.
    2) On the folder .../AppData/Roaming/Adobe/ i have some folders called PremierePro (includig the folder 4.0) and Premiere Pro (including 4.0, 1.5 and 1.0) and i never did a change.
    3)I didn't find in the folder programme/adobe/..../premiere any PProCS4.exe
At this time I csan't afford any issue with dreamwaver/fireworks cs3 or any interruption of service.
    Question:
    1) any conflict known between CS3 and CS4? solution?
2)how to perform a very clean installation of PPro CS4 without any interference with the web suite cs33? (I already download and install ppro cs4 several times).

  • Cannot save PPro CS4 project created on another PC

Another editor told me to delete the pref files but I'm double checking first.
I brought across several projects created with CS3 and CS4 on another PC.  All open and eventually load after I find all the media (the projects are > 250 gig.  The one I need (always the way, ain't it) will open but not even any of the auto-saved versions will Save.  I left it overnight and nada.  I click cancel and PPro crashes.  What is the solution?

    Windows 7 Ultimate 64

    Quadro FX 3800 video card
All suggestions are welcomed with gratitude.
    Peter B

Out of desperation I resurrected a machine that can mount the Matrox RTX2 and will try to open the wretched project with the machine it originated on.  When the project tries to load on the Super Micro server box it warns all sorts of what appear to be Matrox plugins and effects are missing so maybe that is the key.  I've never seen that little red dot with the X on it before nor the yellow caution sign that precedes it while the media is loading.  From now on all projects on the SuperMicro unit will start their lives as AJA format so we can use the $6,000 Braodcast HD monitor I bought in 2008 but haven't actually used for HD other than checking footage from the PDW700 via HD/SDI.
Hope I can open the project because I suspect there will be serious consequences if I do not.
    cheers,

I can only give you the location for PrPro 2.0 on XP-Pro. Sure that there are some changes, but maybe this will get you started: C:\Documents & Settings\[Username]\Application Data\Adobe\Premiere Pro\2.0 and the file is "Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs" w/o an extension. If one "trashes the Prefs," then the Adobe program will just rebuild them with the defaults. There is also a keystroke combo, to use when launching the program. Unfortunately, almost all Adobe programs are different. I think that PrPro is hold down Shift, launch program (while holding down Shift), until it launches fully. For PS it is ShiftCtrlAlt and one gets a dialog screen, asking if one wishes to delete the Preferences - IIRC, PrPro does not have such a dialog.
For the manual trashing of the Prefs, just rename the Prefs file (should be named in a very similar fashion in CS4 and Win7), to say Old-prefs, for backup. Launch CS4, and the Prefs will be re-written.
    Good luck,

  • Working on a CS4 project in CS5.5 - Flash won't let me save FLA normally (ctrl+s)

I started working on a Flash project and I'll be moving it back and  forth between two different computers. The project was originally  started in Flash CS4. The other computer has Flash CS5.5 installed. So  when in CS5.5 I save the fla as a CS4 version FLA.
I hit Save As... and  then from the Save As Type pull-down menu I selected CS4 Fla document and I  assumed that from then on I could just hit ctrl+s to save the project  and it would maintain the CS4 version. But that isn't quite what's  happening. Every time I hit ctrl+s a Flash Compatibility Warning pops up  and tells me that I need to use Save As... and then Save As Type again  to keep it a CS4 document.
So basically, from what I understand, when working on a CS4 project in CS5.5 - I can't use Save. I can only use Save as...
This is really annoying because I am accustomed to hitting ctrl+s pretty often.
And  now EVERY TIME I wish to do a simple save, I need to hit ctrl+shift+s,  then select CS4 from the Save As Type menu, then hit save, and then  click YES when asked if to overwrite the previous file with the same  name.
    Is this a bug?

Flash will let me Embed the FLV but not let me use it for playback.

  • PPro CS4 and CS5 installed and Windows 7 default launch from project dbl-click is...CS4?

This is sort of a curious one.  I have to keep CS4 installed to edit Camtasia files as their codec is a 32 bit no-go with 64 bit CS5...
Oddly, when I double-click any PPro project (most were created in CS5), they will launch CS4, not CS5.  When i go into properties and attempt to link a different application as the default for this project type, I browse to PPro CS5's executable and choose it, but end up back in the "Open with" dialog which again, only shows PPro CS4 as an option.
Oddness...  anybody else seeing this?  I just launch CS5 from it's shortcut and it loads whatever I want without an issue, but I still double click without thinking 3-5 times a week and have to back out...It's an annoyance.

    Tim,
Are you comfortable wading around in the Windows registry? If so, you can probably fix this with a quick digit change:
In the Registry Editor (launch regedit from the Run dialog), find the following key: Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project\shell\open\command.
Once you select the "command" key, you'll see the program destination string on the right side; likely it's pointing to CS4. Double-click the "(Default)" string and change the value to to following, exactly as pasted here:
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5\Adobe Premiere Pro.exe" "%1"
That's with the outside quotes and everything. OK the change, and you may or may not need a system restart, but that should correct the issue. Basically the file extension (in this case, .PRPROJ) is associated with a class (Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project), and that class points to default application. Once that's fixed up, the chain should be put back together.
Also, there is another key in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project\shell\open\command. Changing the above should change this as well, but you may want to check it.

  • How to Open PPro CS4 project in PPro CS3?

I have to make hundreds of individual avis from a Ppro CS4 project. In CS4 the Media Encoder has to open up for each one and then I must wait til it loads the clip and then I can keep them in queue and do many at once but it takes forever. Is there any way to open this project in CS3 so I can simply export movie files one after the other (without that horrible media encoder)?

Unfortunately, there is almost zero backward compatibility. I did find that Encore CS3 Projects could be Opened, with few issues, in my EncoreDVD 2.0, but that was surprising, and not of help to you.
Now, one can use a bit of a workaround, if such is required. One can edit loosely in CS4 (remember, you will want Handles), or edit very tightly with all Transitions, knowing that those will not be changed in CS3. When done, Export (for SD Projects, either the DV-AVI Type II, or Lagarith would be good), and then Import that into CS3.
Also, an EDL might be useful. There is another option, similar to EDL, that starts with an A, but my mind has gone blank. Others will be quick to offer that, and tell you if it would be useful in your case - sorry.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • PPro CS4 won't play back

Suddenly video in Premiere Pro CS 4.0.0 for Mac won't play back from source window, program window, or timeline, except for an occasional playback of < 1 second. Scarily this was described by a bunch of users in a thread started two years ago. Only one solution was offered there, which didn't apply to my Mac.
I was involved in another thread on a related subject in this forum once before but that setup seemed connected to the use of a Dazzle Bridge for capturing. There's no such complication now...it's just not playing any video more than a few frames.
An editor who can't playback any video is in trouble, and after paying as much as I did for this program and a Mac Pro, it is disheartening. Any ideas out there?

I appreciate everyone's help but I'm afraid the situation has gone from bad to worse, since Premiere suddenly disappeared.
Yesterday, following one bit of forum advice, I tried using a separate user account labeled Premiere Pro and the program did play the files--though it wouldn't let me save the project file where it resided. Now, however, the program is nowhere to be found. I have the original installation disk but I have heard of problems arising from reinstallations.
To answer some other questions, I did try to download the latest update for PPro CS4. I am using PPro for Mac on a Mac Pro with a 10.5.8 OS. I can't say for certain exactly which version I "have" of PPro CS 4 since the update because the program has disappeared and is not turning up in the Finder anywhere, nor can I recall the exact wording of the error message saying I couldn't save my project as edited under the alternate user. The program and system worked fairly problem free for almost four years before the last few days. I use a variety of source footage, including .avi, .mov, .flv, .mp3, .wav.
One Snow Leopard user has recommended using a Root User account which doesn't seem to apply here. For example, he referred to a "Network Account  User" option that was supposed to appear in Accounts/Login Options but doesn't on my Leopard. Also, as per another user at Trafford College, I revised permissions to select Everyone...however since the program isn't appearing on my computer, there's no telling if that worked.
Community help is greatly appreciated--especially in light of one forum report of someone who was on the phone with Adobe for hours with this kind of problem but without getting it solved.

  • Dynamic link confusing two separate AE compositions in PPro from different projects

I am using CS5 Master Collection for Windows 7 (64 bit) on an HP Pro desktop (Intel core 2 duo, 6Gb RAM). The tower has two hard drives installed (no RAID). CS5 is installed on the original C drive along with the OS, but the working files, footage etc are all on the larger, secondary F drive.
I am working on a DVD project consisting of several seperate PPro projects. Each project has been colour corrected in AE using dynamic linking. Recently two of my projects suddenly became mixed up, by which I mean the video (not the audio) from one AE composition in one project has taken the place of another in another project. The clip remains the same length, but the link apears to be referencing the wrong clip during playback. Interestingly, there are two clips on the track above the affected clip that fade out and in at either end, during the dissolves between clips, the correct footage plays. It is only when the clip plays by itself that the problem occurs. The next clip also has the same error, though the problem only occurs for half the clip and then suddenly corrects itself. Just to be clear, All clips have been rendered, there are no more than two video tracks on the sequence, and I have tried replacing the composition from the asset menu (in which the clip plays back correctly), but the problem remains in the sequence.
I hope that descrition is clear enough. My guess is some kind of file path error in the dynamic link, perhaps due to the separate hard drive. But I really wouldn't know. I'm very pressed for time right now and I'd prefer not to go against workflow and re-edit a new composition in AE, I would also like to understand what is going on in case it happens again.
Any help with ths problem would be appreciated,
    J

Thanks Colin, I tried what you suggested with both the AE Project that it should be referencing and the AE project it is erroneously referencing but both failed to fix the issue. Its as if a hidden clip were laid over the top of the one I want to play. Frustrating.

It's not the comps that are the problem; it's the project file names themselves. You can have all the comps in a project named the same thing, and it'll be fine, but naming projects incrementally is an issue. After Effects includes a versioning function (Save and Increment) that will create a new AE project file with a serial number, e.g. AE Project 01, AE Project 02, etc. This is all well and good if you're just working in After Effects, but Dynamic Link gets confused and will usually start looking at the later project file for comps. That will just create a big mess, as you've found. Changing the names of the project files won't help things relink automatically properly, but it can help you fix things. Make all your DL AE comps offline in your Pr projects, and name your AE projects in a manner that is not serial (give them more random names). Select your offline AE comps, and right-click > Link Media, and point to the new AE project. Things should link up correctly then--but if they don't, you'll just have to remove all the AE comps from your Pr project, reimport the comps from the newly-named AE project, and replace them. It's a pain but it'll probably just keep getting worse if you don't.

  • PPro CS4 - half of audio is missing from exported files

    Hi all.
I'm currently working on a project in PPro CS4, and by that I mean that I've already completed the project. It was exported and uploaded to youtube for my boss, no problems. Then he asked me to combine the two videos, so I copied the second half of the video and pasted it onto the first half's sequence. The settings I used for the two sequences were the same. When I play the video in PPro everything works fine. When I export the video, however, the audio is missing from the second half of the video (the half I copied). The second half audio is on the same track as the first half of the audio, so the audio levels on the exported video should be exactly the same.
I've been browsing the forums and looking at troubleshooting pages but I still haven't found a solution to the problem. The video is intact; only the second half of the audio is missing. I have no idea why it's doing this or how to fix it.
    I'd appreciate any input.
    -RD

Yes, if he is exporting one file of video and audio then either the entire track is exported
or only the work area bar is exported for both video and audio. If he is exporting video and audio separately THEN they might be different lengths.
You might right-click the audio for the second section and select Audio to see if it is muted.
Try exporting the audio alone without video, listen to the audio in Windows Medica player and listen if all or only half of it exported. If all of it exported, then that narrows the problem.
You might try creating a new Sequence and pasting the video and audio into the new Sequence (don't just duplicate the sequence, that may just duplicate the problem). Then export and see if that circumvented the problem.
What format are you exporting to?

  • AI into ppro cs4

    Hello all,
I have an issue that it seems no one has discussed.. at least I can't find anything on the wide web or here about it.
I'm trying to import .AI files into Premiere, one of the features they like to boast for vector rasterization, alpha, etc etc. (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/4.0/WS74FBAC3A-F651-4f98-A58E-8576504C47CDa.html)
It's not working in Premiere Pro CS4.  I go to import (drag drop, or menu-->import) my .ai file, which is a very small 350 pixel wide logo, and I get:
    File Import Failure
    /path/path/pathblahblah
    Error Message
File video dimension (width/height) too large.
It works fine in CS3.  I seem to remember using it in CS3 and CS4 before without problems.  In CS3, I drag in, no errors, I use on timeline, looks great zero issues.
I've tried making a new fresh project, even at different formats (though this project is standard widescreen).  Tried messing with different things in Illustrator, even making a new project and using it's "NSTC Video" project presents.  The AI it makes still says it's too large in CS4 (but works in cs3).
On a second note, I tried to reproduce the error while typing this.
It imports, but the imported file's preview is just a bunch of tearing.  Here are some stills (btw I experimented b/c of the error and made a 150pixel wide AI file):

It does this randomly instead of giving me the too large size  error, I double checked this.
If I timeline and start playing with it, it'll eventually freeze Premiere and close out.
    Any thoughts, comments, suggestions?
You know, I've started several projects in CS4 with all the best hopes and intentions, and every time I wind up just reverting down to CS3 to actually get the thing out the door.  I know this particular problem is work aroundable, but hey.. it worked in cs3?  We're devolving.  And where is .pdf support already? Really?
I hate that FCS has better integration with adobe's imaging files, layers, blending modes etc, then Adobe itself's video suite.  I don't like FC.  I'm trying, here.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.
Like I said, I know there are work arounds to this particular problem, which works in ppro CS3 and doesn't in ppro CS4
One option is rasterizing it out in photoshop, as Hunt has mentioned.  Why I like it vector is so that I can animate and play with the file, perhaps bringing it on screen at a huge scale percentage so that the "camera" "moves away" from the object.  This means in photoshop, when I open the .AI, in the rastorization dialogue that it brings up automatically, I'd like a huge DPI so that it rasterizes a very large version of the vector AI, that I can shrink as needed once inside Premiere.
Another option is using Adobe Dynamic Link and importing the .AI there, in After Effects.  After Effects loves layered vector files.  Then I can switch back and forth between the two programs in real time to get the desired effect.  This is probably the more "correct" solution, or more, least prone to problems, as it's AE doing things it's built for, sort of.
I just thought I'd post to make the bug aware to others, and possibly get a solution if there was one.  A simple use (rather than all the animation I'm describing) would be to drop a watermark logo into Premiere that you recieved from graphics as an Illustrator file.  I think this was the intent for the support of the ai files.
Stan, yeah, I've played with different artboard, dimension, and crop mark settings.  I gave up and deducted that being the issue beings it's imports right in on CS3.
Both of the above methods have worked for me in both CS versions.

  • Trancode burn hangs/crashes in Encore CS5 but works fine in CS4

    Hi,
I've been reading lots of stuff in the threads about Encore CS5 crashing at various times, and I wanted to see if someone could shed some light on my circumstances..
Windows 7, LG Blu-ray burner, everything always worked fine in CS4.
I had been using Encore CS4 to burn my Premier CS5 projects because I couldn't ever get Encore CS5 to work prior to the latest update..
I did a new project in CS5 and when I did a rough cut burn it worked ok..
Since then, no joy.. It imports it from PP to Encore (CS5) and starts rolling, but then seems to freeze along the way in transcoding and crash. If I load the same project saved by Encore CS5 and try burning to blu-ray in CS4 it transcodes, burns and works.. So it does seem to be some difference between Encore CS4 and CS5. I really want CS5 to work for the promise of not needing to transcode AVCHD, and make it look worse
Couple of things to note that may or may not matter:
I read somewhere that "blank space in the timeline" crashes Encore CS5 .. I mean really? I have a couple of gaps of black in the timeline when I switch sections, but this never caused a problem before, and this seems like a bug that Adobe just couldn't have could they? For real?
I have both CS4 and CS5 installed. Does this matter? I haven't uninstalled yet, because CS4 works, and CS5 doesn't.
I have a GTX 295 (not the 285 and I did the "hack" to load and take advantage of the GPU's with the mercury engine). Everything in Premier CS5 seems to work fine, but admittedly, the one time I did get Encore CS5 to work, this was not in enabled and now it is.. Could this really matter?
Right after I post this I'll be doing that roxio update thing, but I have a pretty fresh copy of Win 7, totally updated that I the only thing I do with it is use it for Premier, so the point is I don't have a bunch of junk installed and use to for all sorts of other stuff.
I really want to fix this because I have noticed that after CS4 transcodes and I burn the blu-ray, it doesn't seem to look as good.. And since nearly all my footage is in AVCHD, and it wouldn't need to transcode it, this not only saves time, it probably looks better, so this would be a super powerful feature of Encore CS5 I really want to take advantage of..
    Any ideas?

    Thanks for the tips..
I changed every file including the name of the project to have no spaces.. I also don't have any breaks in my sequence, I'm not using a timeline, I'm just importing the sequence straight into Encore...
I don't think the GTX 295 thing could be related the only issues I'm having are in Encore, not Premier Pro..
But I guess the news now is that everything seems to be working pretty well and it looks to be transcoding, but I keep getting a:
"Blu-ray Object: Sequence 01/Cozumel_2010.prproj, Export file not found"
The Sequence part is obviously the name of my project file..
I've been trying to read about why this would come up, but no one seems to have an simple answer.. I've cleaned the media cache and renamed the project, but the old project name gets the same error..
And here is the point, as stated before, I open the exact same Encore project in Encore CS4, and bingo everything works..
