Video stopped working on Skype with contacts HELP ...

Brought my 82 yr old mothe old G5, been working fine until recently.
Problem - video suddenly vanished in Skype but only with certain contacts.
Tried reloading alternative versions of Skype. Video works and have checked it is not being used by iChat, iSight or any other programme.
Tried reloading contacts. Any suggestions please this is her lifeline?
I’ m running PowerPC G5 with Mac OS X 10.5.8 & Skype Version 2.8.0.866

There are quite a few threads on this problem.
I suspect that Skype have ditched support for v2.8 in the latest updates. If you want to use the latest updated Skype, won't be able to Skype with the G5 iMac... The people she can still video Skype with have either not updated their Skype, or are on systems that cannot run the latest Skype, so she will not lose video with the older system users.
Two solutions (I am guessing that updating her Mac to Intel, and then training her to use the completely different Tonka Toy interface is a non starter?):
If you are a Mac, you can go to oldapps.com, & download an older version of Skype. Doing this, you must then go to Skype preferences, and uncheck the 'Automatically check for updates' box, otherwise you will be updated to the Skype that cannot connect to the G5. This solution is not available to Windows users.
For Windows users, you could consider the second option. Although PPC Macs are likely to continue running for quite some time, because Skype & Flash, and a few others are no longer supporting PPC Macs then PPC Macs are not a great cost on eBay, or used. Ideally 1.33Gz or more, although my 1.25GHz iMac does Skype quite well, as much RAM as you can put in is useful. Using a PPC Mac will mean you can Skype with the G5 iMac for as long as it lasts, avoiding the hassle for your mother of the Tonka Toy Skype version.
This does mean that Windows users would have to go to the ... dark side & run a Mac...

I worked with chat help two hours last night - we have reset a password that lets me into my adobe account but in the download reader process that password will not work - where it says Adobe reader wants to change something and please type in password, just vibrates with the dots glowing purple but will not open…. what do I do to reset that password or get it to function. they would not assist me further they said its a free download and I would need to seek help from forums ( all this is new to me )

I have been able with your lead to find the password I need , and to have install happen
however - when I then go to the website to download the Pdf document I need I get a screen with the big red adobe icon that says to complete and down load this document I must launch adobe reader a dn sign the terms of agreement , close browser and reopen.
but thatscren has no choice buttons whatsoever, I cannot find anywhere a adobe reader image to launch - been into launch pad , preferences etc.
so now the loop is the pdf document and the adobe screen saying I must do terms of agreement
like is this Kafka like or what ...

Can't use my HP Deskjet F4580 Wireless Printer with the AirPort Extreme Base. The printer is NOT connected at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme, and is placed in another room. It worked just fine with my previous router (Linksys WRT54G). Help me!

I just got my AirPort Extreme Base, but I can't use my HP Deskjet F4580 wireless printer with it.
The printer is not connected to the AirPort Extreme's USB port. It is placed in another room, and I'd like to use it (the printer) wirelessly (not connected to the USB port os the AirPort Extreme), as I used to. There is no place for the printer close the AirPort Extreme. It worked just fine with my previous wireless router (Linksys WRT54G). I'm very disappointed with the AirPort Extreme Base Station because of that!...

Please follow the steps below to make sure the reminders have been enabled in Outlook:
On the File tab, click Options.
Select Advanced in the Outlook Options dialog box.
In the Reminders section, select Show reminders.
Click OK.

until I updated him from SnowLeopard 10.6.8 to Mavericks 10.9.2.
2 Days all was OK. Next Morning-Start he needs (until now) 3 minutes to show me a SCREEN only milky white. After that he starts like ever with all ICONS in about 1 minute. (together 4 min.)
..But I must notice, that I cannot make anything, because the „BLUETOOTH APPLE WIRELESS KEYBOARD and the APPLE MAGIC MOUSE“ doesn't work anything like before.
I could nothing do, I must drop my APPLE only out.
That I maked ever 10x and all was the same... (Maveriks also 4x new updated)
I taked my Logitech-Bluetooth-Mouse from the WIN-Laptop, dropped it in USB from iMAC...and in one second I could work only with this MOUSE...I buyd the Logitech COMBO K520 and all was OK now with my lovely APPLE iMAC to work with him...But without APPLE KEYBOARD and MAGIC MOUSE...and with a 4 min. -START until now.

if you start up your iMac in Safe mode, do you still have Bluetooth problems with your Apple wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse?

Adobe encore the software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system. installing the correct decoders for the file you are working with may help correct the problem

The files we're shot with HD cameras. Edited in Premiere Pro CS3. I installed the update 3.0.1 with still the same error.
I also tried a brand new project and after about ten or so files being imported into a timeline, the system crash. I tried this twice....

       Here is the skinny. A window base PC. footage shot with HD sony HD cameras, Project imported to Premiere CS3. Once completed sent file to Adobe media encoder and render them as H.264 widescreen high Quality. Imported them to Adobe Encore CS3. After about ten files or so. I got the error message. Did all the basic trouble shoot like restarting the computer, got latest patch. Even build a new test project with the same problem.
    Something else I read in the forums, is the encore will transcoded the project to Mpeg 2 anyway, after looking at my project I realized those few files were indeed untranscoded. So it will be a double compression and I dont want that. So, my new question is, what is H.264 good for ?????????? I was research that Mpeg 2 is a faster render but H.264 is a slower render but better quality.....
   what do you think ????

Reinstall MacFuse with the one from http://www.tuxera.com/mac/macfuse-core-10.5-2.1.9.dmg. If that doesn't work, you can use Paragon NTFS for Mac 9.0 which has been designed to work with Lion.

You need to find the format of the drive by looking at its info, my guess would be you are currently in NTFS (windows only) mac can use any mac os journaled or non journaled, or you can use fat32 which is usable on both pc and mac but is unable to move files over 4GB so no good for large file transfers. You will need to re format at some point but this will delete everything currently on the drive.
