Working proj in different FCP versions

We completed a project using FCP 4.5. Then, we hooked the external drive with all the media, etc to someone else's system, which operates on 5.1. We had to re-render everything and then continued to work on the project in 5.1. Then, we wanted to reload it and work more on our system (4.5), but we couldn't reopen the project. Is there a remedy to this problem? Is it possible to work a project in 4.5 after it's been modified in 5.1? Thanks.

Not directly. Once a project has been modified and saved in FCP, it is no longer compatible with older versions. However, you can create an XML file of the 5.1 project, then use the XML file to build a new project in FCP 4.5

My sound guy requires a Motion JPEG A version of my timeline, 320 x 240, 2 fields, odd dominance, at around a 1000-1500 kbit/sec data rate (no audio attached). When I did such conversions from FCP 4.5 / OS 10.3, the quality meter would have to be set to 70% to fit into his data rate requirement. I recently upgraded to FCP 5.0 / OS 10.4 and now I have to set the quality meter to around 15% to get the same data rate!!! What's going on? This quality is far too low for my sound guy to do his job.

1. Situation
OS: windows 2000 pro English
Java version: jdk 1.5.x was already installed. (Its not permitted to change.)
I dont have any authorization to install any software on the PC.
But I need to use an Integration Builder.
I already knew URLs of an Integration Builder (http://<hostname>:50000/rep/start/repository.jnlp).
2. How To Do
At this moment, an Integration Builder (XI 3.0) can be launch under jre 1.4.x environment (on windows).
2.1 jre preparation
I download j2re-1_4_2_10-windows-i586-p.exe from http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
I installed it on my home PC and copied all files from C:\Program Files\Java\ j2re1.4.2_10\ into my USB.
2.2 Put them into the system
I pasted j2re1.4.2_10 folder from my USB into the windows 2000 pro system.
Finally, I could list up all of javaws.exe under this system.

2.3 Execute a Java Web Start under jre 1.4.x version
I executed c:\j2re1.4.2_10\javaws\javaws.exe .
2.4 Change Java Runtime Versions
Go to File-> Preferences -> Java
As you can see, it indicates 1.5 version.
Click [FIND] button.
Click [NEXT] button.
Click the j2re1.4.2_10 folder.
Click [NEXT] button.
A JRE Finder is able to find javaw.exe automatically. Or you can indicate C:\j2re1.4.2_10\bin\javaw.exe directly.
Click [NEXT] button.
Finally, there are two Java Runtime Versions. Now you need to uncheck the Enabled column of 1.5 version and check 1.4 version.
Click [OK] button.
Well, in the General tab, I selected None for Proxies.
2.5 Launch an Integration Builder
In the Location field, I typed the URL of an Integration Builder jnlp.
http://<hostname>:50000/rep/start/repository.jnlp
SAP Integration Builder comes up inside Applications area.
Select it and click [Start] button.
If you click Environment-> Integration Builder (Configuration), you can launch Integration Builder: Configuration.

I am not getting anywhere with deploying my application or
applet.
I have set up my bc4j project. It contains all my VO info,
links, application module. (proj a)
I then have another project with DbInfo in it(has all my rowset
info), Multiple Frames, and my Applet.java file.
Actually I have an Applet.java file and a Application.java file
because I was seeing if both/either worked. Anyway they seem the
same, except for that extra window that comes up when you run the
applet.
I follow the steps in the oracle directions (from earlier post).
And all seems ok. But at ---->

with applets being served from a different server than the
database. So a stand alone application was my front runner, but
I haven't gotten either way to work yet.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

2. Double check your resources, namely in Disk manager. What is free space on HDD?

Oracle Sql Query issue Running on Different DB Version

I have come into situation where we are pruning sql queries on different DB version of Oracle and have performance issue. Let me tell you in brief and i really appreciate for your prompt response as its very imperative stuff.
I have a query which is running on a DB of version 7.3.4 and it takes around 30 mins where as the same query when run on 8i it takes 15sec., its a huge difference. I have run the statistics to analyze on 7.3 and its comparatively very high. Question here is, the sql query trys to select data from same schema table and 2 tables from another DB using DB link and 2 other tables from another DB using DB link.So,how can we optimize this stuff and achieve this run as same time as 8i DB in 7.3. Hope i am clear about my question, Eagerly waiting for your replies.

Difficult to be sure without any more detailed information, but I suspect that O7 is in effect copying the remote tables to local temp space, then joining; 8i is factoring out a better query to send to the remote DBs, which does as much work as possible on the remote DB before shipping remaining rows back to local.
You should be able to use EXPLAIN PLAN to identify what SQL is being shipped to the remote DB, If you can't (and it's been quite a while since I tried DB links or O7) then get the remote DBs to yourself, and set SQL_TRACE on for the remote instances. Execute the query and then examine the remote trace files, And don't forget to turn off the tracing when you're done.
Of course it could just be that the CBO got better,,,
HTH - if not, post your query and plans for the local db, and the remote queries.

Creating projects with more that one exported sequences from different FCP

I am creating a compilation DVD containing 6 different FCP projects. I exported all the projects using the same settings
MPEG-2 6.2Mbps 1-pass 4:3.m2v and .aiff files.
They each burn and play just fine when I use just one in a DVD Studio project. The problem comes when I put them on one track using chapter markers to mark the beginning of each new clip on the track.
It looks as though it is working until I try to play it in the simulator. I can hear the audio, but the picture does not view on any of the clips other than the the first one in the track. If I go back into the viewer and click on a portion of the clip, it will play both audio and video, but once it moves to the next clip (through a chapter marker) the video will not view until I click on the track again.
What have I done wrong? I am a bit of a newby with FCP and DVD Studio.

It seems to be a "kind of bug". If you build and test your project in your hard drive everything plays fine. In another thread (that cannot find right now to link!) someone mention that the problem is the difference in the lenght of audio and video aafter encoding each sequence.
But as I told you at least my projects builds fine.

CTS to different OS version

Dear all
We have very time crunching situation and we need to install ECC 6.0 system on HP server as DEV system.
This HP server is RISC based and we have installed HP11.11 version on it.
SAP and Oracle version will be ECC6.0 and Oracle 10g.
A month later. we will install SAP ECC 6.0 and ORACLE 10g on HP_UX 11.31 on HP CISC server as DEV/QA/PRD server
in this case. Can we tp all the work we done on HP11.11 system to HP 11.31 system?
Please let me know your experience.

I don't understand the question..
from the title of the question "CTS to different OS version " I guess you want to know, if there will be any inconsistency becasue of different os versions.
If thats the question, then it will not have any inconsistency. Because, tp/r3trans works on database/OS independent. so the datafile/cofile created are os independent. (as long as you are on the same release like ECC 6)

Keyboard problems, not working keys and different connection with letters

PLEASE HELP ME, The background is this: Yesterday I have done for the first time the time machine with my external hardisk, and I try to delete also all remains documents of windows from virtual machine Parallel (I delete it after trial version and I still have windows data in the mac).
(I dont know if is connected to the problem)
After this, this morning the keyboard start to work bad, some keys don't work, like ENTER or P or Volume Buttons, but the strange thing is that some other work differently, like pushing the left arrow it type "à".
I try to change Mac, in order to understand if is a software problem, but nothing, it didnt work also on different computer.
It's not a keyboard lenguage problem as you can think, I changed, lenguage, and nothing, in fact this does not explain why some keys dont work,
In the keyboard visor, I can see which key works and which not, and some like, down arrow, is perennially insert, and furthermore, up volume work as backspace.
So, a series of strange problems.
-keys that dont work
-wrong connection (key-letters)
-and keys always "ON"
I'm sure that no liquid went on the keyboard, and the keyboard is new, (less than 6 month, bought at Apple store)

Ok, I try again, and I followed perfectly the process, the "UTILITY DISC PAGE" was due to the fact that the "P" button doesnt work, therefore, it get just option+cmd+R
Oh, really this is very strange. I try this keyboard on an other mac and it didnt work (it fail the configuration process because the "ENTER KEY" doesnt work)
I try also a USB keyboard on my mac and it was all OK.
So, it seems to be a software problem of my bt keyboard, there isnt a way to reset? I'm worry about match again the bt because it will ask me to type numbers and then ENTER and if the keyboard will not be fixed, Im without keyboard... now I can use it and when I need some key that dont work, I use the virtual keyboard.
Guys, what do you suggest to do? The keyboard is in warranty but the bill is in Italy, now I'm in UK, the apple store could replace it without the bill?

Cannot find FindById..My old script cannot work anymore in SAP new version.

I have upgraded my SAP to a new version but I cannot use script that I wrote in the past with this version.
I tried to use record and playback. It works but with different code. It seems that it is using a different kind of code that is not similar to FindById at all.
Moreover, I cannot call Development Tool, Professor Dumbledor, any more.
Is there anything I have to change to activate Developmento tool and change back to FindById code option?

LWAPP to CAPWAP across different software versions. ?

I was wondering if someone could clarify what happens when you have controllers live on two different software versions..
We have 4 controllers.. 2 on version 4.2, which APs currently register to with LWAPP and 2 new ones on version 7..
On WCS, I have moved an AP currrently registered on a version 4.2 controller and reassigned it to the newer controller ( ver 7 ).
The AP then reboots and I can see in the event logs that it comes back up on LWAPP after resolving the entry CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER.
On WCS, the AP shows as registered back on the old Controller ( ver 4.2 ) but the Primary and Secondary Controllers are still pointing to newer ones ( ver7 )..
According to the Cisco document, the transfer from LWAPP to CAPWAP should be seemless, so is this a problem migrating across different software versions. ? Will the AP sort itself out eventually.
If I console into the AP and statically assign the new controller IP address, this forces the AP to download the newer software version ( after multiple auto reboots ) and it comes up on CAPWAP.. This shows that the path between the AP and controller is ok..
Ideally, Im hoping that I can simply reassign our current APs to the new controller ( and onto CAPWAP ) rather than having to console into all our remote APs and statically reconfigure them.. Not fun !!.
Any advice would be appreciated..

Yes I agree that, once on version 7 it will perform a lookup for " cisco-capwap-controller ".. I forgot to say in my original post that I had already check this and it does resolve correctly to the two newer controller IPs.. If I console into the AP and manually define the newer controller IP address, it all goes through sucessfully and I can see the discovery and correct registration process in the logs
So we know that it kind of works but Im hoping that there is a simplier solution from within WCS where I can do all this remotely, rather than consoling into every AP locally.
Your suggestion of inputting the new controller IPs in WCS instead of the names sounds good however, it needs to be on version 7 first to be able to do this ? As you say, there is a field for this in version 4.2.... Looks like there is a bit of chicken and egg going on here !!.
Any other ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.

- Match Legacy ... Gamma Adjustments checked ON
But it does not correct the colors in effects. And checking or unchecking Make Movie/Output Module Settings/Color Management/Profile/Preserve RGB does not make any difference.

Those parts of the video image that does not have color effects are just fine. In these parts the color is preserved when reimporting to FCP. However, those parts having color effects (except Levels, as decribed earlier) have altered color results. So, only the parts having effects affecting color are misinterpreted in the image area. The mismatch is of course seen in AE, before making the movie.
What I ment with "Color Management not working properly" is that (instead of "disabling" it) Color Management does not seem to be able to correct this "misinterpretation" or difference in effect handling between AE 6 and 10.
So, would you have any solution for this problem?

Audio Render and New FCP Versions

An odd, annoying, time-consuming problem which I hope somebody can help with...
A client has brought some audio files mixed in FCP to me for mastering. She has FCP 5.0.?, I have 6.0.4 on my Mac Pro and 5.1.4 on a G4 Quicksilver.
On opening some of the aif stereo mixes that my client had exported, we found numerous clicks and pops that needed fixing (par for the course, it seems, when getting "creative" with sound in FCP?). In addition, much of her audio seemed randomly in mono.
We opened her original FCP projects and, again, much of the audio was in mono. We quit, deleted render files and restarted - now we had the stereo back. For some reason her system was rendering in mono.
But now there was another problem. She's been very creative with the "speed" setting on imported sound clips, but the pitches were frequently wrong. For instance, a sound she had set to "Speed 35%" was now at 9%.
We opened the project on the G4, hoping that as the FCP version was closer to hers, we'd be safe. Now, the same clips no longer referenced the same bits of the original audio files, leading to incorrect sound or silence. And the "speed" was now set to "variable". We spent a few hours trying to sort this out - in the end she has gone home to try to sort it out on her own rig before coming back to me.
Is this kind of thing common - audio settings such as "speed" corrupting when opening projects in later versions of FCP, or file references scrambling? Or am I getting something very basic, very wrong?
(btw - we always worked on copies of the FCP projects, so she still has her originals to work with).
Is there any particular settings I should be using, or workaround to avoid this?

Here's a couple of answers. I don't see any difference between what I sent to STP and what I got back as far as Vid Rate (23.98), Frame Size (1440x1080) or Aspect (HD 1440x1080). Where I do see differences is in the number of tracks (4V,10A for original and 4V,8A in what comes back - I cleaned up the music track in STP and made it one music track). Also I noticed Audio Output went from 2 to 6. But, where I'm seeing the need to render is on the video track. When I import the video, I am using the HDV - 1080p24 preset.
As to what is in this video: some 108024p video, lots of images, text and title blocks, VO, music, and the associated audio track for the standups and b-roll.

FCP version 6

I have FCP version 5. I have been practicing editing and learning with it, in order to hopefully some day be proficient in it. Now that version 6 has come out, am I wasting my time learning version 5, or are the versions similar enough that my knowledge will easily transfer over?

It's the rest of the Studio packages that you need to upgrade before you will see a lag in your abilities. Motion 3 and the new rev of Soundtrack are quite different from the ones you may or may not be using. There are no significant changes at all to FCP6 (but they are all listed on the FCPS2 marketing pages), unless, of course, you are heavily into HD, have the latest Macintosh with super-fast drive space that can take advantage of the new processing and display features. Otherwise, the upgrade is largely a waste of money.
