Hi,
I have searched for distressed type, and I get both Photoshop and Illustrator tutorials. I thought it is always better to work with text in Illustrator, but Photoshop seems to be easier to create distressed text effects, by using layer masks and various brushes. If I was creating a distressed looking type I would want it to look realistic and a simiar effect to a silk screen print.
Im just trying to understand the best workflow method for working with both programs when doing something like texturing backgrounds and text to distress them like screen printing. Which program is best to originate files in and then bring into the other..

Yes you can. In iPhoto create a Album with the photos you want in it. You can drag them from your Events folder. In iTunes with your iPad connected go to Photos by cliking on your iPad. You can then select the album or events you want.

Photoshop by itself cannot process raw image data. That is why the Camera Raw plug-in was developed. You could try the DNG converter and convert your images to the DNG format and then the Camera Raw that you have would be able to open them. I can't recommend Lightroom because you are using Vista, and Lightroom 5 cannot be used with that operating system. It may be time for you to get a new computer and upgrade your software.

You don't need a serial number for the latest version of Photoshop, just sign in with your Adobe ID

Premier Pro CS4: working with an Adobe Photoshop file

I'm trying to work with an Adobe Photoshop file, it has many
layers and I imported it as one and switched it to RGB. However, the rendering time for the file is flabbergasting:
it's a 5 second opening with light effects and it takes about 30 minutes to render. Is there something wrong that I did when exporting it or is this
just the "name of the game"-I have applied several light effects to it but have done so to other file in the past and rendering time has not been nearly this long. Many Thanks in

Thank you everyone for the responses; I think it was:
My Sequence settings were for a 720 project but the Photoshop file well exceeded that-kind of simple but I don't use Photoshop often enough. I changed the pixel settings, Thank You Bill, of the Photoshop file and it seems to have done the trick. I was baffled because even a very low res JPEG was giving me trouble.

When I try to use my brushes with actions in Photoshop, such as Save the Dress, Ying-Yang, or Foundation, they won't work. I've tried resetting the brushes, changing the opacity, restarting the program, and unlocking the layers. It was working perfectly, but suddenly just stopped. When I click on the image, it doesn't do anything. There is also a small black box next to the action the I am using in the history box. When my brushes were working, that box would show in white where I used the brushes on my pictures, but now it doesn't register anything that I try to do.

What operating system?
Which brushes, and if not standard, where did you get them from, or did you make them?
What is happening, and what have you tried so far to fix it?

Trouble with brushes in photoshop elements 7.0

My photoshop elements 7.0 worked perfectly fine until about a week ago, when all of my brushes (plug-ins and defaults) started acting strange. The image below shows what it looks like.
I'm working with only one layer here (the background), using the same hard "brush" from the defaults for both the erasor and the brush (the erasor is working normally and that's why i'm using it to compare with the brushstroke). There shouldn't be a difference between the stroke with the brush and the erasor, and there wouldn't have been a difference if i did this a week ago, but still, as you can see, something is not right here... It hasn't got anything to do with the layer opacity or the opacity of the brush/erasor, because they are all set to 100%. I did notice, however, that the first time this problem appeared, the space between the brushmarkings in the brushstroke was set to 25% in the brush settings. Now, everytime i restart the program, this brushsetting seem to be the new default setting for all of my brushes! I can't draw like i'm used to anymore because all of my brushes are so messed up. Does anyone know what's the problem with my photoshop brushes?

Your brush flow isn't set to 100%.
Select the brush as the tool then press and hold in the alt key (opt if on mac). While the alt (opt) key held in, press the 0 (zero) key. Your brush flow should now be set at 100% flow.
Reason: Brush flow is available as an option in Photoshop. In Elements, the option is not shown on the options bar but the function is still present and can be called up using the shortcut keys...brush tool + alt (opt) + number key. This setting is sticky...whatever flow rate you set with the shortcut acts as default for all brushes and is considered a user preference for all sessions.

What is the best way to work on photographs, editing them, and preparing for print if I can't save layers as .jpg or non-layered .tiffs? The photo lab I will be using does not allow layered .tiff. I have seen many videos that show how to let's say enhance eyes using layers, but in this video it says that .jpg cannot be used. I am new to photography and PSE an would like to know if there is an alternative way to edit an image that can be saved as .jpg. Thank you!

Working with iphoto AND Photoshop Elements

Hi,
I currently use iPhoto 5 and want to begin using Photoshop Elements. I am wondering if someone could share their ideas on how to go about using both programs. Here is my objective. I think that I can get more out of my photographs but moving up to Photoshop Elements. I think that perhaps this program can make better black & white photos as well as color (has more adjustments that are capable of specific controls).
That said, once I have finished with a photo, should I then import it into iPhoto?
What type of work flow routines do others use when they have both of these programs?

If I may take the opportunity to expound on this thread to incorporate my own question...
I too wish to edit in Elements and retain iPhoto as an organization tool, but have read that saving to jpg is not the best idea. After editing and/or flattening tiff is the better option, no? Anyway, the default directory in Elements in the save as dialog I believe is to the same roll the original came from, but often after an edited jpg is saved into tiff iPhoto doesn't see it. Stoplight tells me it is there, but there is apparently something about the process that iPhoto doesn't like.

Step Backward Not Always Working with Brush Tool

I'm usually painting in photoshop and I undo a lot using the Opt+Cmd+Z shortcut. It works about 4/5 times I do it, but sometimes it just stops working. I either need to switch to a different tool, so just make a random brush stroke on the canvas and then it will start working again. Does anyone have a fix for this?

I'm using Photoshop CC on Mac OSX. The problem I'm having is not the inability to step backwards--I can get it to work by making a random brush stroke and then it will work again--but since it happens after every four or five "step backwards" commands it is really slowing my workflow. I'm constantly redoing lines multiple times in a few seconds when I'm drawing and it's really getting annoying.

I have a psd file made in Photoshop CS5 which I have to send to a Graphic Designer who works with the old Photoshop Version CS3. He can`t open the psd.

What to I have to do now? Is there the same possibility as in InDesign to export it as an Interchange Format (IDML), so that he can open the document without any problems?

Those are the three possible settings – which one have you chosen?
Regardless, if the psd file has been saved in Photoshop CS5 with Maximized Compatibility it should be able to be opened in Photoshop CS3.

Problem with working with raw in photoshop

I edit an image in raw in adobe photoshop cs4 .
everything looks good I save the imaged
the image looks fine in firefox and internet explorer
but when I open the image in some other application like a stand alone image optimizer or google chrome the image looks like its lost all color or something ??

Document profiles are not "better" or "worse" overall. A blanket statement that one is "better" than another is an oversimplfication. Different profiles have their uses and each has its advantages.
I mentioned the link at the bottom of Camera Raw so that the MrMikeyNZ would know WHY he ended up with the Adobe RGB profile embedded in his image.
