Working with Linux?? changing language?

Hello Blackberry community,
I am about to buy my fist Blackberry and I think about starting with the 8100. So far so good- but two questions I'd like to have answered first:
1. how are Blackberries working with Linux especially with Mandriva? Any of you synchronising your phone with Linux?
2. can you change the language? I am living in Italy but my motherlanguage is German. If I buy one in Italy can I change the devices language into German?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
1) Yes you can have German as your input and operating language. Make sure you the one you purchase has the correct multilingual
package loaded.
2) Linux is not supported by the Blackberry desktop software:

You can install any software operating system.
The notebook would functions using Linux, Win2k, Win XP Vista Win 7 and others
But the question is; would you be able to find the Linux drivers for A660 16M.
Answer; No, Linux drivers are not listed on the Toshiba pages but since most drivers are a part of the Linux distribution, no special drivers are needed
However, if you would need any drivers for example; LAN, Wlan or graphic card then I would recommend searching on support pages of the chip manufacture.

Setup FB for PHP 4.5.1 to work with linux zend server ce edition

Hi,
I'm new to FB and hope that someone can help me.
Using some tutorials I've found I have installed Zend Server CE on my windows pc and created a project which accesses a database. This is all working as I would expect in that I can introspect the services and everything works.
As the next phase in my learning I am now trying to move the Zend Server CE onto a seperate RedHat linux server so that the services are not bound to my pc which has a dynamic ip address.
I used the yum repository to install the zend server ce with php 5.3 support and this all went as expected.
I've created a new remote project using SSH to access the remote server. When I did this i noticed that the "public" folder and the amf_config.ini and gateway.php files are not automatically created as they were when I used my local pc.
Also when I create a php service and right click on it the "create php service for flex" option is not available.
I was hoping that everything would remain the same as when I used the locally installed zend server ce but it seems there is more configuration required and I'm not able to find any current tutorials which cover how to get this working from both the zend server ce side as well as the local flash builder for php settings that need to be set for the project.
Can someone point me to a tutorial on how to get flash builder for php working with a remote linux copy of zend server?
There are plenty of tutorials which cover how to do this if you install zend server locally with FB and use localhost and a local webroot....
Any help would be greatly appreciated... If I work out the steps to do this I would be more than happy to do up a youtube video of the process to help other new users.

What I would like to do is this.
In Flash Builder 4.5.1 for PHP I want to create a "Flex and PHP Project"
I want the PHP project to use the Zend server that I have configured on my linux server 192.168.214.212 ip address.
In the flash builder for php, php project I want to be able to create new functions and classes and then as I do this have them uploaded to the linux zend server via ssh.
I also want to be able to "Introspect" the services and have them create the Value Objects in my flex project.
Then when I debug or launch the project I want it to use the services on the linux server.
If you have zend server installed on the same windows pc (localhost) as flash builder for php all of this works automatically, it creates a public folder and also generates the gateway.php file automatically and everything works with out any manual configuration.
The problem I have is that I cant figure out how to change it so that it uses the linux server and I know it's not as easy as just changing the ipaddress of the server and uploading the files to the linux server webroot as I've already tried this and it doesn't work.
I can ping the linux server and access the zend server admin page.
I can get the flash builder php project connected to the server filesystem (via ssh) and have it upload the php as I change them.
The two things that are not working are Introspect and also the gateway.php and amf_config.ini files are not working.

Satellite M40-129: PCMCIA Card doesn't work with Linux

I have D-Link DWL-G650 with Atheros Chipset which is good supported under linux (madwifi). But if I boot Linux the card is not found. I tested the card with an Fujitsu Siemens Notebook and it worked out of the box!
Any idea why it doesn't work with my M40-129 ?

Like you know Toshiba doesnt support the Linux and there are no Toshiba drivers for the Linux OS but I was able to find this useful Toshiba page about the notebook configuration with Linux:

Will my Nokia Lumia 520 Windows work with Linux Ub...

You need to have Media Transfer Protocol installed. No idea if that is currently available for Linux but check the link below:

Logitech wireless mouse doesn't work with Linux 3.10

When I rebooted after updating to the 3.10 kernel my mouse stopped working. The cursor is displayed but it doesn't move. I downgraded back to 3.9.9-1 and it works fine again. As far as I could see it was detecting it in the dmesg output, so I'm not sure of the cause (maybe just a regression in the driver). I've never had any problems with this mouse before.
The mouse is a Logitech M515 connected wirelessly with a Logitech Unifying receiver.
This is the dmesg line (on 3.9.9):

Mine works fine with Logitech Anywhere MX, never noticed any problems. Is this still an issue?
According to the bug report, Logitech Anywhere MX should be broken I guess. If you need any info dumped to figure out why it's working for some, tell me what you need.

( I have a keyboard attached to the same unifying receiver. Paired them up using a windows laptop. Maybe that's the difference? Sane-epjitsu backend stopped working with linux 3.6.2

I have been using a fujitsu scan snap 300m with arch linux for over three years. It has always worked fine.
With the upgrade to linux 3.6.2, scanimage can no longer find the scanner. When calling scanimage, I get the following error:

Was there a regression with the new kernel and usb peripherals or udev permissions?

How do I get High Speed Wireless internet to work with Linux?

I have Linux on my computer and I have the Wine Software on my computer to download what need to be installed. As I was trying to download the installment for activation it loaded to the installing part and then it told me there was an error and it couldn't finish installing. If you can help...IT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL AND VERY APPRECIATED!!

Should work if you're connecting for the first time (new DSL hookup). Most areas use OpenPPPoE which pretty much allows you to connect with any user/pass combo set up in the modem's DSL Connection settings. Other areas, mainly out West (sold to Frontier mostly) use DHCP which does not need a User/Pass, but binds the IP address to the modem's MAC address.

i'm 99.9% sure that it will work, although you might have to set the Apple TV to 480i first (which is done on the video based menu, so you have to be able to see this first), depending on what model sony and whether it can input progressive or only interlaced video.
also, if the TV does not have the anamorphic squeeze mode, you may have a problem with aspect ratios on content.

SSO does not work with DNS change

Hi all,
I have an ITS service which works fine on intranet but do not work on internet. But the same service when put on internet (ofcourse with a different DNS i.e. abc.mycompany.co.uk) and it breaks down. When clicking on a webgui service or webrfc service it opens up the logon screen asking for password. In the whole ITS service there is no cross domain service.
The same thing works fine on intranet with different domain name.
Is there any other settings to be changed to accomodate for the new domain to work on the internet?

Hi Surendar,
cross domain support is from security point not a proper solution.
The ITS issues a MYSAPSSO2 cookie. The cookie specification says that the browser rules who is getting cookies. Normally only site with the corresponding DNS name will get.
Possible solution would be:
If you switch your application, the service which creates the ticket must be connect with another DNS name. Your DNS server allows to configure aliases. So just connect your WebServer with WGate with this new (alias) name, then you will get a cookie with another entry in DOMAIN property of the cookie.

Change Country with out changing language

When I am creating my Account, I have created the ID with my current address (UAE) and credit card of UAE but wrongly I created India as my Country.when I am chaging the country language is getting changed to Arabic. how can I change country with english language.

The language of the stores will be the language of the country where your iTunes account is based, and it can't be changed - so if your account is based in the UAE it will Arabic

Seems RTL8192EE wireless card doesn't work with Linux 3.19

Hi all, I just fresh installed ArchLinux on my new Thinkpad T450s. The installation has been smooth enough. I can use wifi-menu on ArchISO image (which is based on kernel 3.18.6) to get my wifi connected. Everything works great. But when I reboot into the new hard disk installation, the WiFi connection always fails.
I have tried to connect manually via wpa_supplicant and dhcpcd. It didn't show any error information like driver issue or so. The problem I can see is the link is really slow: too slow to get authenticated by router. At a small chance I can connect to the WiFi but then failed to get dhcpcd work. And at a really really small chance I can get an IP from the router but the ping latency to gateway is about seconds, so I cannot visit any service via this network.
This issue happens to Linux 3.19. I have tested on 3.19.2 in core and 3.19.3 in testing.
Is there any of you have the same issue, and is there a solution for this currently?

Hibernate not working with linux 3.7

Greetings folks.
Since kernel 3.7 I have not been able to hibernate my computer. Suspension, though, works fine.
I do not know how to log that kernel panic, I manage to shoot a video with my mobile phone and apparently there is a
WARNING: at arch/x86/kernel/smp.c:119 native_smp_send_reschedule
and
kernel BUG at kernel/hrtimer.c:1259!
I would like to provide more detailed information, please, tell me how I could log that KP in a file and if you need anything else.
Needless to say that with the kernel 3.6 everything works fine.

It seems that it has been fixed in 3.7.5. From the changelog:
The 'intel_idle_probe' probes the CPU and sets the CPU notifier.
But if later on during the module initialization we fail (say
in cpuidle_register_driver), we stop loading, but we neglect
to unregister the CPU notifier. This means that during CPU
hotplug events the system will fail:
This patch fixes that by moving the CPU notifier registration
as the last item to be done by the module.
