Working with projects and albums in the browser

I have already posted a question about how to find a project or album. If you have TONS of projects and albums how do you find a specific one in the browser? I cannot see any way to sort other than alphabetically and there is no way to search project or album names.
By the same token, and this is my new question, how do you easily display in the viewer all the files in a project? (a project may contain albums with images that are not stored on the root level of that project, so highlighting the project in the browser does not display them). Or similarly, how do you display in the viwer the images contained in several albums? There eseems to be no way to simultaneaously selct albums or projects. You can have several tabs open but not see the images together in the viewer. In fact to make a slide show off all the images in one project you have to create an album and manually put in all the images.
Similarly, there is no way of making a smart album of all the images in a project or determined albums, which would have been a work around for all these issues.....
Am I missing something really obvious????????? It all seems so basic. Even iphoto lets you do these things! HELP, APPLE!!!!!!!!

Aperture is a much more powerful software than iPhoto and it's crucial to understand the way its library works to get the most of its organization capabilities.
Master images can only be placed (physically) inside projects. These are then image containers. An album only has links to images, and this links can go to any project. So even if an album is inside a project it could be displaying images that are not inside that project but somewhere else (if you drag and drop from other project previously).
On the project panel, projects are display in alphabetical order, but you can also use blue folders to organize projects. My project panel is organized as follows:
Project '1. Imports': A project created to automatically recieve all the photos when a card is inserted in my card reader. I use a hot folder with automator for this.
Blue folder '2. Smart Albums': This blue folder has all the smart albums I need to quickly find any image in the library.
Blue folder '3. Work': This folder has all the projects related to my work.
Blue folder '4. Travel': Contains projects of my travel photography divided by country.
Blue folder '5. Portrait': Contains projects of portrait sessions.
Blue folder '6. Social & Events': Contains projects of differents events I shoot.
Project '7. Templates': Contains photoshop templates to create 9 in 1 frames, etcetera.
As you can see I use numbers in front of every name to keep them in the order I want. Then the metadata does the rest, I add keywords to easily find ANY image in seconds, doesn't matter how long I did it.
A Smart album will search inside the whole Library if you create it at 'All images' level, then you can drag it to a folder to organize them if you want.
I'd recommend the book by Ben Long and Orlando Luna, it made me squeeze all the potential of Aperture, way beyond the manual that came with the program.

How did you "change" the MP3 - what program did you use? You might want to explore Soundbooth, as Aanarav suggests. It works well with PP & Encore.
[EDIT] I use Audition, but think Soundbooth would be a good choice, as it is bundled in the Production Studio CS3.
Many folk have problems with MP3 files, for whatever reason. You should be able to convert to PCM WAV from any number of good conversion programs.
I use a fair number of MP3's in PP and have never had any trouble. Some others have never been so lucky.

I followed below instruction to make video and image storage on Azure using PHP:

Whenever I record an image on Azure storage and download stored image there is no format
in the stored image. and end up becoming like any other regular file. Othe problem is that I cannot see the concerned image in the browser. I already have checked recipient access and it is defined as public reading.

show up on the browser and remove video and images from the azure storage area?

Thanks for your posting!
I am not familiar with PHP. But from your description, I think your need pay attention to those points in your code:
1.When you store file or download file, please write the file name and
suffix, for example, you need store image as blob name "image.png".
2.When you download file from Azure blob, you need set the content type.
if your file is image, you could set the content type as image type.
3.You could get the blob URI, and set your image URL as blob URI. Do this, you can show the picture.

Airplay does not work with slideshows and music - get the slides but no music with iPad Air2 and ios 8.1.22

iPad Air 2 with celluar with ios8.1.2 will not airplay with apple tv slideshows with music. I see the slides on the TV but do not hear the music. This works on the iphone 5s with iOS 8.1.2 and with my other iPad which is on iOS7.
This problem was reported on Nov 21, 2014 and other people had reported it prior to me.
When will this be fixed by Apple - it worked in the past and does not work now.

TS2518 I opened Aperture and all my projects and albums for the last 4 months have gone. Where can I recover them from?

I have lost the last 4 months of photos on Aperture and have no idea why. Can anyone tell me how to recover them? I don't find Mac software that intuitive after using MS for 30+ years.

What exactly do you mean by "lost 4 month of photos". Are earlier projects still visible in Aperture or are all your projects missing?
What is your Aperture version and your MacOS X version?
And what were the last action you did on your mac, before the photos went missing? Did you install something, update something, run some cleaning tools?
Did you move your aperture library to a different location?
Please tell us anything you think that might help to understand what happenend.
Sometimes images appear to be missing, but are only hidden.
Have you looked in Aperture's Trash? And the Trash on your Desktop?
Have you looked at the searchfields in the browser and Inspector if they are cleared and are showing "All Items" or "Showing all"?
Have you opened the correct Aperture Library? If you type ".aplibrary" into the Spotlight searchfield in the upper right corner of your screen, do you see more than one Aperture library?

5th generation iPod Touch speaker is not working with music and apps, but the alarm sound goes off fine. Why?

I have a 5th generation iPod Touch and it got a small amount of water in it around the speaker. When I tried to see if my music would play through it, it couldn't. But, when I tried my alarm to make sure I could still hear it, you could. The sound was fine from the alarm, not as loud as it used to be but I could still hear it. Why doesn't the sound work with my music and apps? Also, would I be able to exchange it if I have a warranty?

The iPad keyboard selection for Vietnamese really only seems to change the Return key to the Vietnamese language. iPad is sold all over the world....my interest is Viet Nam.....the full keyboard.

Thanks.....my Vietnamese expert spouse says this tip will work just fine. I was not aware of the hold down function. Slow typing but accomplishes the objective native on the iPad.
You are correct.....most Apps that I find seem to be based only on a copy/paste method of input.

Updating linked projects and Albums

Hi all, I'm new to Aperture. I keep all my photo's on a NAS box and have linked them into Aperture with Import Folders as projects storing files in their current location. Everything seemed great, it didn't fill my HDD up with 1TB of pictures and it kept my folder structure. I though i had it all sorted, but when i add files to the folders on the NAS box they don't get added to the Aperture projects/Albums.
When i try to do another import it just stupidly creates a copy of the projects and albums inside the ones i already have!
Basically is there a way to use Aperture in this way where i don't have to fill my HDD up with my pictures that i already have stored on a NAS box and that i can update when i add new pictures to the NAS box (preferably automatically) without having to delete all the aperture content and add it again?

I might suggest reading the page of the manual before you call it stupid. It works as designed and as documented as far as I can tell.

Yes, using referenced masters, which I believe you have already done.

Well, yes, but you'll have to change your workflow.
Aperture is not designed to import a whole computer's worth of files and sort out the duplicates every time. It is designed to do that once to initialize your library. After that, you must import individual folders or photos.
You will be in charge of telling Aperture what to import, unless you set up some Hot Folders and folder actions. People do this for tethered shooting all the time. Still, that will be only for a particular folder. There's no way to make Aperture look "next to" what it imported previously and see if there's anything there.

Working with Projects instead of Production Order

Hi Experts,
In one of our manufacturing companies we are trying to implement SAP B1. The company has MS Access currently. We work with projects and each sales order consists of many projects. Taking it to SAP B1, there is the option of production orders but that works with Item no. for final product with BOM. Our product is not consistent and every time the product can change according to customer requirement. That means if we go with the SAP's production order functionality we will end up creating many (ghost) items everyday, and that (item) would be of no use next day. What can we do to solve our problem with SAP B1? Or SAP B1 can not handle projects? We are ok to work with SDK but not with a big cost.
Please help if possible.

There are actually many things which needs to be basically studied before a workable solution can be determined and its applicability can be assessed.
For sure, there are lots of Items involved and each Project(Lets say BOM) has different combination of items which are not standard but frequently change.
Here first it needs to be determined, do we need to keep a track on the items, its value and the left over ones as well, because items would be involved in the combination which would either be purchased or kept in inventory for future purpose.
Secondly, can it be feasible where we can define a standard BOM (project) which has the normal ingredients(items) to make the final product and then based on that some changes can be made when Production Order is created (like changing the child items (excluding some and including some).
And also, can there be some process by which we can add the volume of items in the database using some external tool, like SDK or an add-on.
Actually, there are lots to be thought about and tested. I would prefer if someone who has implemented such scenario/business gives you some guideline about his procedure.

NXT Flatten to String Not Working with Clusters and Arrays

My name is Joshua and I am from the FIRST Tech Challenge Team 4318, Green Machine. We are trying to write a program that will write to a configuration file and read it back. The idea is that we will be able to write to a config file from our computer that will be read by our autonomous program when it runs. This will define what the autonomous program does.
The easiest way to do this seems to be flattening a data structure to a string, saving it to a file, and then reading back and unflattening it. The issue is that the flatten to string and unflatten from string VIs don't seem to work with arrays and clusters on the NXT. It does work when running on the computer. We've tried arrays, clusters, clusters in arrays and arrays in clusters, none seem to work. Thinking it was something to do with reading the string from a file, we tried bypassing the file functionality, still not working. It does work with basic data types though, such as strings and numbers.
No error is thrown from what we can tell. All you get is a blank data structure out of the unflatten VI.
The program attached is a test program I've been working on to get this functionality to work. It will display the hex content of what is going into the file, coming out of the file, and then the resulting data from the unflatten string, as well as any errors that have been thrown. The data type we are using simulates what we would like to store. There is also a file length in and out counter. The out file is a little larger because the NXT write file VI adds a new line character on to the end (thus the use of the strip white space VI). This character was corrupting even basic data types saved to file.
I would like to know if there is a problem with what we are doing, or if it is simply not possible to flatten arrays on the NXT. Please ask if you have any questions about the code. Thank you in advanced!

Yes you can. In iPhoto create a Album with the photos you want in it. You can drag them from your Events folder. In iTunes with your iPad connected go to Photos by cliking on your iPad. You can then select the album or events you want.

What's the difference between "Library" and "Projects and Albums?"

In the navigation panel, under Library I click projects and of course see all 16 of my projects displayed to the right.
Now, under the "Projects and Albums" 3 of those project are listed. Only 3. If I try to delete them so as not to have these 3 appearing in both places, I get the warning that photos will be deleted.
So my questions: why is there a library top level and also a "Project and Albums" top level? And why does the latter only show 3 of my 16 projects? Finally, I think my projects should all appear in just one place.
Any ideas?
