Working with Subcircuits in Multisim 10 Student Edition

Hello Everyone,
I built this circuit mainly using subcircuits. It's supposed to display a 4-digit hexadecimal number using a
single BCD to 7- segment decoder to operate 4 displays. I am using 16 switches
organized as four groups of 4 switches. Each switch outputs a 1 or 0. I constructed a 2 bit-counter, 16-4 multiplexer, a 7-segment decoder, and a 7-28 demultiplexer connected to 4 seven-segment LED display. When I test my subcircuits separately, it works fine. But all together in the circuit it does not work. I plugged in an oscilloscope to the 2-bit counter, and I don't get any pulses, but it works in the subcircuit. Is there some kind of special trick on how to make this work? I've attached my files. Maybe someone else has run into this problem before.

I tested the counter and I am getting a signal at both outputs with no changes made to the circuit. I know the circuit is not operating as you want it to, but right now I can't isolate what is causing the problem.
In such a situation, I usually Isolate one subcircuit at a time, get it working correctly and then hook it to the second one and so forth. You may have to do this in order to find out where it deviates from what you expect as an output.
This is the only thing I can suggest at the moment. I will continue looking into this, but with so many nested subcircuits it may take a while. I cannot guarantee finding a solution, but I will try.

If anyone is interested I managed to solve this problem by reformatting the ipod as a mac ipod, with the help of friends system. This does get rid of the music but as I had it backed up wasn't a problem. I then plugged the mac Ipod back into a windows pc and reformatted it as a windows ipod which updated the firmware correctly and have'nt had a problem since.

Database access denied for MCT6 in Multisim 10 Student Edition

I am getting this error for a component that I was able to use over the
last few days. The component is the MCT6 optocoupler.
Luckily I had
saved an older version of my circuit, or I would be screwed.
I am using
Multisim Student Edition Version 10.0.267 on Windows XP Pro SP 2 with all updates.
I found the documentation on what parts are available for the student edition.
According to the list, the MCT6 optocoupler should be available.
I've
tried removing and reinstalling the product 3 times. The last time, I went into
the registry and removed everything related to National
Instruments.
Nothing has worked. Why is this happening?

Melissa, this is the same response as for the post you placed on the LabVIEW board.
So I found the error, the component database the flag used to indicate whether a component belongs to a particular tier or not is incorrectly set in that component, the MCT6, according to our datasheet it is supposed to be included in the Student Edition. I will report this immediately to R&D, but in the meantime... I created a new component for you, its the same component but you should be able to add it to your user database.
Download the attached PRZ file, open Multisim, and go to File >> Open, point to this file, it will prompt you to add it to your user database, accept all the default questions and click Start, once its done, exit the dialog. Your component should appear on Place >> Component... select User Database... I think I configured it to be on the same place... Misc >> OPTOCOUPLERS... check it out.

Upgrade to Adobe CC with the conditions of the "special offer" (35,69€ / year) with an old registered CS5 Students Edition?

Hi!
I just tried to update my Adobe Creative Suite to Adobe CC. I have a registered CS5.5 Master Collection from 2012 that I bought while studying (Students Edition).
On the Adobe Website I can choose the CC as a special offer and a price o 35,69€ per year. When my Serial is checked they say that I'm not allowed to use this special offer.
Does anybody know what's the problem? Can't I use the special offer with the old serial of a student's edition?

Not able to work with customized Java roles which were edited in ABAP stack

Hello All,
I am trying to copy standard roles into customized roles (i.e. Z roles) using PFCG in XI system. All ABAP based roles are working fine, but all JAVA based roles are not working. I generated profiles as well. And I check all the authorization objects in both standard and customized roles. Everything look same but customized roles are not working.
And when I check the logs on JAVA stack I found the error which says " User XXXXXXXXXX IP address HTTP request processing failed. HTTP error [403] will be returned. The error is [You are not authorized to view the requested resource.No details available]."
I thought there might be any Jco RFC connections missing between the stacks and I tried to check in Visual Admin, but I was not able to find much info regarding these roles.
Am I missing anything or is there any other way for these roles to make customized roles.
And can any one tell me how to run a trace for JAVA stack activitites as we do in ABAP using ST01. Any help will be rewarded. Thanks in advance.

Java roles work with influence of permissions in Application Server which we call actions in UME. As you are aware in PI user master record will be in ABAP stack. So the roles in ABAP stack will be having only RFC connections to JAVA stack for the specific JAVA based role. So you need to edit the permission on Java App Server. For that you need to log on to server through visual admin and then go to services and you will find the standard groups assigned to actions. But I dont remember that under which service you will find them
Under that service you will find some 200 actions. And you have to add the name of the custom created JAVA roles on ABAP to all those actions where you find the standard roles. And its a very very lengthy procedure. So SAP advice to go for customized ABAP roles and Standard JAVA roles.

I got a question regarding SBO2005. We recently purchased a new server and decided why not to upgrade to SBO2005 aswell. So we were wondering if SBO2005 SP01 also works (and is supported) with the MSSQL 2005 Express Edition or if it only works with the Workgroup, Standard and Enterprise edition.

If I remember correctly Microsoft does not want the Express Edition to be used for productive systems...

Mini dvi to dvi adapter not working with monitor

arright *** i got a mini dvi to dvi adapter which is connected to my vga monitor through a vga to dvi adapter. The computer recognizes the monitor in display preferences, but the monitor doesn't display anything it just sits in standby mode... any ideas why this isn't working? You'd think if the problem was going from vga-vga to dvi adapter-dvi to mini dvi adapter that it wouldn't even recognize the monitor but it does.
well that *****, back to best buy to get the other one. Reason i got the dvi one is because i plan on getting a different monitor with dvi soon. But noo dvi adapter wont work with vga adapters.

The mini-DVD to DVI adapter doesn't pass through the analog video signals needed for VGA, so won't work with a DVI to VGA adapter. All the control signals are there, so the display is recognized, but there will be no picture.
They could have used a DVI-D connector on the adapter, instead of DVD-I, so the DVI to VGA adapter wouldn't even plug in, but then it couldn't be used with some non-Apple LCDs, that use DVD-I connecters.

Working with clips

How can I join 2 clips? As I'm exporting footage from my camcorder, I'm getting a whole bunch of clips. How can the clips be joined so that they'll be easier to work with when it comes time to editing.

Welcome to iMovie Discussions.
You just drag your clips down to the 'Timeline' at the bottom of the iMovie window, and arrange them side by side. Then click on Play ..or press the Space Bar on your keyboard.
They play ..one after the other. Then you can drop Transitions (..fades, etc..) between them to melt them into each other.
Why not have a look at Apple iMovie Tutorials?
Then, when you want to go further, read all of Dan's 'Unofficial' iMovie FAQ', where he gives the answers to all sorts of possible problems.

Missing Document "Erste Schritte in LabView" for current Student edition 2014

Can anyone tell me where i can find the current documents for
"Erste Schritte in LabView" to go with the 2014 ServicePack 1 Student edition ?
All i can seem to find is those for the 2013 version:

wich contain a hint that there's a newer version, but the search link redirects to the same document.
they seem to have quite a few differences, especially the tutorial documents they refer to didn't come with my install.
In Addition where can i find the tutorials folder they refer to? is that an extra download package?

It seems that there is no getting started for LabVIEW 2014. I think the differences between the basic operations of 2013 and 2014 are not very large.
In addition, the tutorial folder of LabVIEW 2013 contained only two VIs. You will find one of them (generate and display) in the template folder "simulated" of LabVIEW 2014.

Any Skype Video that will work with the A1 ?

Is there a version of Skype Video that will work with the A1 ?

Skype works wonderfully on the HTC Thunderbolt. The Tegra single core is just fine. It's not the chip, it's this device. As I've written as well, playback of any video is poor and any HD video is unwatchable. The phone plays HD video reasonably smoothly.
The Skype issue is the same - the app sees that it is video capable but cannot find the front facing camera (or any camera for that matter.) I'm surprised to find that video functions on this device don't work very well. Hopefully the company will be behind supporting this device. I'm surprised that it has Gingerbread only but you can't expect them to dump these out without having made sure they worked properly just for simple things that have worked properly on comparable devices.

I've never used an iPod, but don't they charge through their docks?
I doubt if it would work- very few Mac products are designed to be compatible with PC devices.

Is there a way to open a .mst file created in the student edition with MULTISIM 9

When a student builds a file with MultiSIM 9, the circuit is created as a .msm file. When the student goes home to work, they can open a .msm file with a student version, 2001 for example, but any change to the file can only be saved as a .mst file. As soon as the file is saved as a .mst file, we have not found a way to open the file with the educational version of MultiSIM 9. Is there any way to convert these files? This makes it very difficult for a student to work at home for a project between or prior to labs.

Unfortunately, the ".mst" extension is supposed to be open only by Textbook editions of Multisim. Not even a Power Pro version would be able to open it.
I'm not sure the specifics of your case, but I guess that you open/saved the circuit on your textbook edition and that converted the file extension, is that right?...
Well, as far as I know the textbook editions are meant to be 'demo' type of releases, so is limited in many features. You should be OK with a Student edition though -- which is not the one commonly found in textbooks.
