Working with Titles Painfully slow (or am I Doing something wrong?)

I have tried with a couple of new projects adding titles to the beginning and end. I have tried plain text as well as some of the backgrounds provided or using images. In all cases, when I edit the text or especially if I try to undo or even preview it, it takes forever. It will finally return control, but only when I add Titles does everything slow WAY Down.
I have no problem creating them. They are just painful to work with. Can anyone suggest better (more efficient and quicker) way of working with titles?

So I dl'd the driver update. I had previously done many of the items in the thread regarding performances increases. I do have to admit Godmode was a new one to me so thank you for that as well.
I did kill some additional background programs as well from the service auto starting (services.msc) and set them to manual or disabled as well as some MSCONFIG options. The ones I need will kick in if I launch the programs. I also turned off disc indexing as I did not know that was such a hog.
All-in-all besides booting faster performance in Elements has definately improved and quite a bit. As a positive on the side, I use Cakewalk Sonar x64 X1 Pro Expanded and a Presonus 10x10 digital firewire interface and I was occaisonally having some stutter on larger projects. This seems to have resolved that as well.

Dear Old Bob..I enjoyed that! I and thanks so much ...I would have done it if I could have done it but I was blocked by Photoshop at every stage! Thankfully my own IT Guru and friend came to the rescue remotely last night and has down-loaded it. But it took him quite a bit of time.
As XP is faded out, there will be an awful lot of people like me complaining.
But truth is my problems are only at a start! About 30 prints (some not yet on my 'blog' (juliamatcham.wordpress.com) all have varying settings which I have noted. Everything depends on these settings.
All are Apple RGB (although my computer is a PC) and they were all set for my printer Epson Photo 1800. Also they were set at varying settings...Standard or Vivid 1.5, 2.5 whatever suited the design.
These settings appear not to exist on CS2 which is a nightmare for me as each print was carefully proofed with a great deal patience and at some expense as in the end one has to use expensive paper even for proofing.
If you have any hints for how to translate these old settings...I would kiss your feet!
Just looking through how things work, I can't understand why I can't change my first printing option to landscape ...everything esle so far seems comprehensible.
I do hate change!
Meanwhile, thanks so much to Curt, Noel, Nahraka and Old Bob for cheering me on. I am obviously going to be back asking more questions about CS2!

Switching tabs in firefox 4 is slow. Am I doing something wrong

When I have multiple tabs opened to various web sites and I go
to switch from one tab to another there is a significantly greater
delay in switching than there was back in Firefox 3.6.17. Other
than that, Firefox 4 does seem to be faster.
It made me wonder if I am doing something wrong that might
cause firefox to slow up in switching web site contexts like that?

Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

I used to be able to mirror my Mac Book Pro screen to my LCD tv. It seems like when I updated to Lion it no longer works. Am I right, or Am I doing something wrong?

I used to be able to watch movies from my laptop on my LCD TV, and it seems to me that eversince I upgraded to the Lion operating system the mirroring does not work. I have researched previous questions and I have checked the FAQ section on the Apple website and I am told to click on the mirroring icon but the icon has dissapeared from my task bar. When I plug the adaptor from thunder to HDMI the laptop screen flickers, turns blue and then goes back to the desktop but nothing shows on the LCD. I have also tried with a Thunder to VGA adaptor and the same thing happens. Any clues?

You may be thinking - that's great but Captivate doesn't publish for Tin Can.
Well, I'm here to tell you about a litle project that aims to allow you to take Captivate swfs and drop them into a Tin Can package that will communicate with the LRS. I've so far developed a proof of concept - a Captivate swf that reports to a TIn Can LRS and also successfully bookmarks. Its far from being a finished product and there's a lot of stuff like hard coded variables and missing functionality, but the basics are there.

Hi folks,My host are still being rubbish so I've re-written the site in static HTML, moved it across to Github and re-pointed the DNS. All the good content is not available again, but in a nicer and mobile friendlier format. http://www.tincanapi.co.uk
The downside is that all of the urls have changed for the individual pages so any existing links to specific pages will get a lovely custom 404 error and need to be changed to point to the new location.

Have you tried turning off automatic transitions ? Choose file - project properties and follow the dialogue box to change duration with a slider. iMovie also doesn't allow a transition to be more than 50% duration of the clip its attached to. In other words if the clip is 4 seconds the transition cannot be more than 2 seconds and remember that relates to the first clip as the following clip (right side) is pulled back to overlay it.

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

DVD's are only 640 x 480 (interlaced), so yes, the quality is not nearly as good. You should probably create your .mov in DV format to best match the DVD format

Problems with aspect ratio metadata filtering, am I doing things wrong?

I tried to filter out all my pictures in a collection that has a portrait aspect ratio but LR is doing it all wrong.
As you can see, there is a mix of landscape and portraits even though portrait is filtered.
I tried to look at some of my other collections and see if this was an isolated issue but found that I have the problem here and there.
Found this example:
Even though the dimensions in the EXIF-info on the right says 3456x2304, LR thinks that the picture is square.
Could I be doing something wrong here or could I somewhere help LR on the way or is it a bug of some sort? I'm using LR 3.3 on a Mac with Mac OS 10.5.8

Many thanks. Didn't think of that but I cropped all the wrong pictures to landscape and then did a reset to the crop and that did the trick. There were almost 4000 pictures wrong so I'm glad that I could use the auto-sync feature to do it faster.

Here is how to see RAM overloaded…
Reboot to see the system in it's default state.
Open TextEdit for the sake of it
Open Activity Monitor & Terminal from /Applications/Utilities.
Select the Memory tab
In Terminal enter the following command
memory_pressure -l critical
# note that is a lowercase L
RAM usage will climb, compression will begin the VM will become way more than the system has installed.
Eventually the system will start swapping (look for RED) - Watch the 'memory pressure' & 'Swap used' as this happens.
Try switching to TextEdit - the system is still coping !
Switch back to Terminal & hit ctrl+c to stop the process.
Watch the VM & memory pressure return to normal levels.
This OS kicks 4ss !
