Working with Two Editors in Two different Cities

I had a common question, proberly look dumb asking it but i trust everyone here better then others
Anyway I am going in to direct a feature film with a friend of mine. Now where both Final Cut Pro editors.
However he is located in Philadelphia and I am in New Jersey. I was wondering if there would be a way with out hardware for two editors to work on the same file at two different locations?

It's probably best for you to ask this on the final cut forum, but this answer is I think the best:
There are several extremely expensive ways to do this, but there is one cheap way.
Once the media is digitized, copy the media AND THE PROJECT FILE onto a separate hard drive so that you can both have copies of the same media.
You would then e-mail the project file (or just a cut within the project) to each other so that you can both see the same cut.
I don't think that there is a way for you to work on the same media at the same time without spending obscene amounts of money.

Somtimes you will get this message if something got screwy with your SAPgui, for me simply closing out of SAPgui and going back in has fixed this issue. If you do not know for sure that your SAPgui had been installed including the screen painter, then you should start there. You will need the SAPgui installation executable, either from CDs or a downloaded file. Run the SAPgui installation, and make sure to select the screen painter as part of the install, i believe it is under "development tools" in previous versions. In newer versions I believe it is installed by default, but I do no for a fact that it is not this way in earlier releases, such as the 46D gui.
So for make sure that Screen Painter has been installed with your SAPgui, if you are sure that it had been installed, perhaps it was working fine yesterday, then I would suggest first closing out SAPgui, and going back in, and trying the screen painter, If the problem persists, it may be worth it to reinstall the gui.

Will iCloud work with Pages bought from a different account

Hey,
Here is my question.
My mom bought iWork(Pages,Keynote,and Numbers) using her own accout and authorized her account to iMac that we share at home.
I'm wondering if I can get these apps to my iPhone and sync it with my iCloud account, which differs from the buyer- my mom-'s account.
if somebody tried this before, please let me konw ASAP.

The problem has been a long standing problem due to Comcast's use of POP for third-party mail applications. This means you can delete a Comcast message on your iPhone Mail app but it will still appear on your MacBook. Comcast will need to allow IMAP account management, and they have been reluctant to do this for years. IMAP alllows synchonizing of folders and trash among devices.
The problem is out of Apple's hands. It also affects Android phones. You can install the Xfinity Mobile app to manage messages on the iPhone, and use the web-based access to manage the messages on the MacBook. That is the only way to permanently delete or move messages.

Detailed validation not working with insert in to two tables

Hi All,
Hope your well!
I have a small issue relating to the detailed validation when inserting two tables.
The mastervalidation will work to identify any errors but will not look at the detailed one at all.
I have config all "Required" form elements to produce an error message but as I say I don't know why or how this is happening.
I have never noticed it before so I tested it out and did the basic of basic insert in to two table with error messages and still on the mastervaildation works.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Working with same files in two accounts

Hi,
I thought I ran into a workaround for the "Read Only" irritation if a person has two accounts, that would bypass the necessity to go through "Get Info" and unlocking every file you want to have access to on both accounts. I think it involved going through Terminal and mentioned that emulating Unix made the computer assume the other account is merely part of "everyone" who shouldn't have access without specific permission. Anyway, is there a way to allow Read & Write for all my files for both accounts?
Is the Public file web-based and hence external? I don't think I want to do that.

The best way to share files between user accounts on the same Mac is to put them in a special ACL folder. That way, any new files added to the folder or any of its subfolders will automatically become read and write for both users. Here is how to set it up:
1) Make a new folder in /Users/Shared called "sharefolder". Locate all the files that you want to share and move them into there.
2) In System Preferences -> Accounts, click the + button to make a new account, but then select "group" from the drop-down menu. Call the group "sharing" or something similar. Add the users you want to the group.
3) Open Terminal and paste in all of this at the same time:
chmod -R +a "sharing allow delete,chown,list,search,add_file,\
addsubdirectory,delete_child,file_inherit,directoryinherit" \
/Users/Shared/sharefolder
That's it. Everything in that folder is now fully readable and writeable by both users, and any files newly created or copied to that folder or any of its subfolders will be as well.
NOTE: After setting this up, if you have existing files that you want to move in to that folder, make sure that you copy them in (hold down the option key when dragging with Finder). Simply moving them in without copying won't cause the full read permissions to be inherited properly.

Why is iCloud not working with shared calendars on my different devices?

- I have had this problem for a cople of months now ... I have tryed evrything availabel in manuals and on the net ... are anybody els have the same problems?

I believe I've figured out most of what was happening.
On the iPad I had Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Calendars > Sync set to Events 1 Month Back. On the iPhone 4 it was set to All Events.
Even though I was only ever adding or changing one or two appointments, for some reason having this setting set to All Events seems to trigger a data transfer of about 4–5MB. This shouldn't be the case, because, as the article above points out, it should only be the new information that gets transfered. So I suspect a defect in the sync algorithm. Perhaps it can't handle the 9900 events in my calendar. But anyway, after changing the setting to Events 1 Month Back, the data usage for a change to an event went down to a much more reasonable 0.2MB. With the setting set to Events 6 Months Back, the data usage for the calendar update was about 0.3MB.
Finally, I purged all data prior to 2010 by moving it to a different calendar (which will not be in iCloud), so that there are now about 1280 items in the calendar instead of 9900. I then changed the sync setting back to All Events. Now calendar updates trigger a data transfer of about 0.6MB. This will still add up to a noticeable amount if there are a lot of calendar updates in a day, but it's perfectly acceptable.
So, in summary, for some reason iCloud can't properly handle syncing 10,000 events, and ends up transferring a ton of data for each calendar update, and the updates also didn't seem to get pushed properly in real time, or at least they took a long time.
After purging the calendar the amount of data transferred for each update is reasonable and the updates are now nice and fast.

Two editors on two edit systems sharing the same footage, suggestions?

So I just got done shooting my first feature and now I've got to come up with a plan for editing.
Here's what I got:
1 Core 2 Duo iMac with FW800 FCS2
1 Core Duo iMac with FW400 FCS2
~40hrs of DV25 footage
$800 dollars to spend on a storage solution
The Core 2 Duo iMac will be the primary system for the final edits, color correction, ect. and the other iMac will be used for rough cuts, capturing a/v, exporting, etc.
For the most part only one system will be editing at once, but I'd like both systems to have simultaneous access to the footage for the days when we need to hustle.
Originally my plan was to get a 1TB G-RAID2 (or something similar) and run firewire to both systems but from what I've heard, that's a bad idea. Maybe I could link it to one computer and have one system edit over a network?
I'm starting to think the only real solution is to give both systems their own drive, but it seems like a waste since we're using roughly 500GB of the same stuff. My "dual edting" idea is starting to seem like more of a pain than a benefit.
Thanks in advance for any help, and please let me know if you have a better idea for our post production setup overall.

With that much money, you only have two solutions.
1) Get two drives...put the same footage on both, keeping the exact same file structure. Name both drives the same name so that when you swap projects you don't need to reconnect. Render files you will have to re-create...by rendering. Any new footage you capture onto one will have to be copied onto the other.
2) Connect one drive to one iMac, connect both iMacs via Ethernet, then enable file sharing and include that drive. This, however, is very unreliable.
Shared Storage solutions costs thousands to tens of thousands of dollars.

Working with External editors & switching between 32 bit & 64 bit

Finally getting my Aperture 3 up and working (after days of frustration!) I am enjoying the new version now. BUT, my external editor (Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac & Topaz Fusion) will yet only work in 32 bit. After some early teething problems Aperture 3 now switches to whichever I choose - and allows me to use them for editing (eg adding text in Photoshop Elements) But, then it leaves me in 32 bit mode.
Is there any easy/quick way to switch back to 64 bit mode - without having to quit Aperture and re-open?
On a more basic issue - Elements tells me that for some edits it can only use 8 bit rather even than 16 bits. I assume that these 'bits' refer to the picture quality 'bits' Is this so - and what am I losing? Beside 8 'bits'!

Correction to this - Elements is working OK and saves directly into Aperture 3. But My Topaz plug ins switch to 32 bit and then Aperture 3 stays in 32 bit
Question still same - is there any other way to get back to 64 bit other than quit and re-open which is a long wat around?

Lightroom 4 does not work with external editor

Hi All,
I am using Lightroom 4 and Photoshop elements 9 on Mac OSX. I upgraded from LR3 to LR4 a few weeks ago and since I updated I can not anymore use Photoshop Elements 9 as external editor. I did all setups, still does not work.
Anyone has an idea what could be the issue or did anyone experience the same issue?

RAW? No. Compatible formats are JPEG, PNG, PSD and PSDX (PS Touch's own file format).
Wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of "RAW file syncing" like Adobe just did with Lightroom on mobile, though.
12 Megapixels is correct...for import, anyway. Oddly enough, I think you can create a 4096 by 4096 pixel project, which is a little bigger than 12 Megas.

How to work with two different backend with same MI Server and war file

We have a requirement that we need to work with one Middleware for two backends. For that we had to copy MAM30 sync bo's to zsync BO'S with the name ZMAM30. Now both sync BO'S will point to different backends.
I have a standard war file which was working well with standards sync bo's. Now to work on zsync bo's what all the changes do I have to do in the standard war file(code).
As per my knowledge we have a file called "syncbonamelist.properties" which maps the sync bo keys. Also there is another file called "mapping.xml" file which maps the package name with BO name.
Can any body please tell me, are there any other files needed to be change like "meRepMeta.xml", other than any existing code like java objects are also needed to be changed.
Your help in this regard is highly appreciable.

I try to get my head around the question:WHY?
The reason for my question is, that this influences the answer!
Because of several reasons it is NOT possible to handle MAM and zMAM Bos at the SAME TIME on the SAME MACHINE in the way you describe it - and it makes no sence to do so at all! But anyway......
Lets say you have two backends, cause you have two different areas of the company. But both want to use the same MI server - but the client should be independend.
So you need two apps. One uses the MAM BOs and the second one uses the zMAMBos.
If this is the case, dev should be straight forward I think and you solution should work already......... so I ask myself, what is the problem you have? Do you get an error?
- First create a new MEREPMETA-XML with just the zMAMBOs instead of the MAM BOs.
- Change the two files you mentioned above.
This should be all then.
If you have a look into the implementation for MAM001Impl for example, there you find a line like:

= ResourceBundle.getBundle("com.sap.mbs.mam.bo.impl.syncbonamelist").getString("MAM30_040");
This takes the name from the properties file and maps it to the real BO. So changing the name in the property file to
MAM30_040 = zMAM30_040
will result in MAM uses the zMAM BOs.
Be aware: after you place the WAR file in the WEBAPPS folder and do a restart to deploy the file, you need to do a data reset to make sure the new MEREPMETA.XML is read.
AND: two apps! one for MAM and one for zMAM BOs. One APP is not possible! Cause if you have something like that in the properties file:
MAM30_040 = MAM30_040
MAM30_040 = zMAM30_040
if will only take the first reading.
But I think this is clear to you anyway

How to get one crystal report to work with two different backends?

We have a software that can work with either SQL2008 or Visual Fox Pro backend. We are trying to compile One Crystal report that will work with either of the two backends. How to you make sure that your Crystal Report is compiled so that it will work with both backends?
Right now my reports were originally created using the SQL2008 backend and are retaining the DBO reference in the statement, which then will not allow the Crystal report to work with the VFP backend.

You can write your data sets as a command using hand coded SQL. As long as "dbo" is the only schema used in your SQL Server database, you don't need to specify it in the SQL. SQL Server will automatically assume the dbo.
The 2nd thing... The SQL needs to be 100% compatible with both SQL Server 2008 AND VFP. This will limit the list available functions to those that are common to both platforms AND work exactly the same in both platforms.
The other part is to make sure you are using an ODBC type connection instead of OLD/DB. That way all of the connection properties are set on the local machine and the report is simply looking for the System DSN name.

Two timecode stripes at different frame rates? (and other BITC stuff)

I'm not an FCP user, but I'm working with an editor who's not that up on the finer points of FCP operation. Would like to know if certain things are possible...
1a. Is it possible for FCP to simultaneously output a QT file with two different BITC stripes running at different frame rates (say, 29.97 fps and 23.976fps)? Or...
1b. For an already BITC'd work print (striped with 23.976 timecode) is it possible to add a second stripe at 29.97 fps, synchronized from the 1-hour mark (first frame of picture)?
2. Are there any parameters available in FCP to adjust the size of the numbers and the position of a timecode stripe?
3. BONUS QUESTION: what does the "R" in "TCR" mean? (just curious -- I've seen this for years but never knew what the "R" stood for).

2. You mean adjust the TCR window? If you drop the filter on a clip, load that clip into the viewer, you can adjust the filter parameters there.
1b. BITC? There are 2 type of timecode that I'm aware of: VTC (or ViTC)(Vertical Interval Timecode) and LTC (Longitudinal Timecode). I seriously doubt this as then FCP would have to use to different timebases within the same sequence.
1a. Again, I seriously doubt this do to the different timebases.
You could print to tape this 23.976 fps sequence which FCP would add the pulldown resulting in 29.97 fps timecode and then import that. Or, maybe Compressor can add the pulldown and export a file wtih 29.97 fps timecode. Don't know, never needed to try that.

Only two devices on our plan, so not so much an issue. And I have found myself using it much more than I thought I would when we got them (also first smart phones for both of us). Even got my wife to use hers for checking email while we were out of the country (big step forward for her ). I'm very interested in the ApplePay, but will want to wait a bit before diving into it. And since both phones are still in great working order, will likely wait a bit for the upgrade (sometime next year?). Will depend, I suppose, on the kinds of deals we see and what the plans turn out to be for updating my iPad and getting here one.
