Workprocess in Private Mode

Hi,
In our BI system, we want to avoid that dialog workprocess entering in private mode.
Now we have the next situations:
Number of dialog workprocess: 30
rdisp/wppriv_max_no: 25
rdisp/max_priv_time: 600
We had thought to change this parameters to:
rdisp/wppriv_max_no: 15
rdisp/max_priv_time: 3600
Do you think these new parameters are correct or that we can to have some problems whit them?.

as so often: It depends.
And as I wrote: You can't really compare these two scenarios.
The new setting could result in this:
20 work processes in priv mode since about 45 minutes.
20 other work processes in priv mode since about 30 minutes.
All the other work processes in priv mode since about 15 minutes.
So nobody else will be allowed to work. This will only change in 15 minutes, when those exceeding 60 minutes will be cancelled.
On the other hand, if know know for sure that only a few of your users will go priv, your suggestion will work.
There are a lot of SAP notes or help texts about priv mode. You might want to look for different solutions. Or it might be necessary to buy more memory for your SAP server.

Work process in private mode

Dear All,
Our server dialog workprocess goes into private mode during peak usage. We have increased the value of parameter em/initial_size_MB to 10092 also em/blocksize_KB to 10092
But still the problem persists, as we notice all developers use the same userid and there count is more than 20 users.
Can using same userid by developers cause the problem since the workprocess private mode is with there id and userid is shared among all. Please advice

I do not want to comment on the licensing question of 20 developrs with 1 idea ...
But, the setting of the profile parameters is the issue !
Please check out ST02 and the max use value - I bet, 9-11GB - which is too much with 10GB setup ...

Try:
em/initial_size_MB = 20000
PLEASE leave this parameter on default:
em/blocksize_KB = 4096
(this only needed when you have to increase on more than 65000 for the other parameter - and then you are only alloed to use powers of here ....)
There is NOTHING shared between 2 different people using the same account => the problem would be identical with 20 User IDs ...

I do not think background work processes would go into PRIV mode.

Does private mode still save cached files?

I'd like to know more into how private mode works. Where does the cache/cookies files go after closing firefox in private mode? Are they even saved at all? Lets say i streamed some videos over the net, that has some cache right; does private mode save the info until i close firefox, or it doesnt save it at all? Im sort of a minimalist, i like keeping my system clean and fast. I would prefer not having the files saved at all even when its in private mode...

I am a software dev and I wish to have my application open links in Firefox.
Using ShellExecute(), i can do with with commandlines like:
firefox.exe http://support.mozilla.org
But I also want the option to open the link in private mode.
I am able to start firefox in private mode by doing this:
firefox.exe -private
However, if I add a link to the command line
firefox.exe -private http://support.mozilla.org
I get strange results.
If firefox is not running, it launches 2 copies of the application.
One that opens in private mode and the other opens in normal mode and goes to the URL specified.
If firefox is already running, it just opens the URL in a new tab.
No private mode instance is launched.
Am I using the command-line syntax incorrectly?

It will never work if Firefox is already running as Firefox will use the already opened Firefox instance. 
In that case only using a separate profile will work.
You can try to specify the -url switch as well.
*firefox.exe -private -url http://support.mozilla.org
You can also look at the -new-tab switch.
*firefox.exe -private -new-tab http://support.mozilla.org

Private Mode
Private mode is mode where the heap data is getting exclusively allocated by the user and is no more shared across the system, this happen when your extended memory is exhausted.
You can go to transaction
ST02 --> Double click on extended memory --> Mode List
From there you see a history of which users were using all of your extended memory, and how much memory total.

Is it possible to install a module only for the private mode (i would use https everywhere only in this mode). Is there any way to do that ? Thanks

I would use the module "https everywhere" wich is an extension that encrypts communications with many major website. The thing is that i dont want to use it all the time.
The way to use it perfectly would be to activate it only when i'm in private mode (wich makes sense IMO).
Is there any way to install / configure it in order it's effective in the private mode but not in the normal one ?
That would be a great feature but i found nothing about it.
Btw, sorry for my bad english, not my mother tongue anyway ;).

Starting Firefox in Private mode from the pinned ico in taskbar causes Windows Explorer to crash.

Starting Firefox in Private mode from the pinned icon in taskbar (right click, choose "New Private Window") causes Windows Explorer to crash almost everytime, but not always. Very odd.
Didn´t happen with previous versions of Firefox.
Firefox 22.0, Win 7 Ultimate with all updates applied.

That's a very odd behavior indeed. All I can think of is that an add-on is confused and makes Firefox crash. The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

"Private Browsing is always turned off when you open Safari, even if it was on when you last quit Safari" > Safari 5.1 (OS X Lion): Browse privately
This goes back to previous versions of Safari and is the same for Safari 7.0.4.

I have the new iOS 7.1.1 software on my ipad and I can't not stop my child from using the private mode in safari. There is no privacy setting to turn on or off either, please help.

Disable Safari in Restrictions. Download another browser such as McGruff that gives you more control. Or, just put a passcode on your phone to stop your child from using your phone without your permission.

Check your extended memory uses. most of the time extended memory uses is almost 100% that's why work process goes in priv mode.
We faced the same problem in our ECC production server then we increaded this two parameter value
em/initial_size_MB
em/max_size_MB
these are the parameters for extended memory
