Workshop 8.1 sp2 bug?

The following codes works fine in sp1. But it failed because the
userManagerControl was null in sp2.
In order to get the code work again, I have to comment the
session.invalidate(); codes.
If a session exists there, it has to be invalidated to avoid the session
intruder, right? And I checked the session attributes after I comment out
these lines, I couldn't find any where this userManagerControl is stored.

  • Workshop 8.1 SP2 crashes when build webapp

    Hi,
    Help!
    It keeps crashing when I try to build a webapp!
    Anyone knows is there an error log that tells what happened?
    Thanks!
    Hai

    Raj,
    I have since rolled back to SP1.
    I will try SP2 now, and see if the problem still exists.
    One possible reason it might be because of ClearCase view
    I used(local dynamic view).
    Somehow generating a lot of files in .workshop directory
    as view private files make the view corrupted.
    Thanks!

  • WebLogic 8.1 SP2 bug in JDBC Pool creation for IBM Informix Driver - Type 4 XA

    Funny business happens when you create a JDBC Connection Pool with IBM's Informix Driver - Type 4 XA under WebLogic 8.1 SP2
    I have included the ifxjdbc.jar and ifxjdbcx.jar in the classpath in the the extENV.cmd, but I kept getting errors on connection:
    weblogic.common.ResourceException: 0:com.informix.asf.IfxASFException: Attempt to connect to database server (myhost) failed. - with nested exception:
    [weblogic.common.ResourceException: com.informix.asf.IfxASFException: Attempt to connect to database server (myhost) failed.]
    at weblogic.common.resourcepool.ResourcePoolImpl.makeResources(ResourcePoolImpl.java:1180)
    at weblogic.common.resourcepool.ResourcePoolImpl.makeResources(ResourcePoolImpl.java:1040)
    Then I realised the WebLogic console was swapping these properties:
    serverName=ol_myserver
    ifxIFXHOST=myhost
    Terrible forehead-slap!
    I rechecked and this what happens:
    Informix Server: -> ifxIFXHOST
    Host Name: -> serverName
    But the URL is correct.
    jdbc:informix-sqli://myhost:1543/mydb:informixServer=ol_myserver
    Notice that the exception message says:
    Attempt to connect to database server (myhost) failed.

  • Workshop problem in building relationship

    Hi there,
    It seems that workshop (comes with WebLogic 8.1) has problem building
    relationship. It keeps saying that it cannot retrieve column info. from my
    data source, when in fact creating entity beans from the exact data
    source/table works fine.
    Am I miss anything?

    Thanks for the assist, your option B was the problem. It appears thatwhen using
    the "create entity bean from database table" feature the data-source-nameproperty
    is set by workshop to the JNDI data source name, and NOT the NAME. Whenusing
    the 'Add Relation' feature the wizard uses this name, which of coursewon't work!
    But, it has to be the JNDI name because in weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml
    <weblogic-rdbms-jar>.<weblogic-rdbms-bean>.<data-source-name> has to be JNDI
    name. EJBGen puts the name here...
    So, I still think it is a bug:( A work-around is to name the NAME and JNDI
    Name the same?
    >
    Now, I'm getting some error about can't find table!!! I guess it doesn'treally
    matter since I can just use the "have workshop generate foreign keys"option,
    since we don't use the appserver to create the tables. The "query table"option
    is just a little more convenient.
    Again, thanks for the help!
    Michael Kovacs <[email protected]> wrote:
    Hi Byron,
    The error you're seeing is because the relation wizard
    is unable to find your datasource on the server. It does
    this by looking up the datasource mbeans on the server.
    A couple of things:
    A) Make sure that your datasource is created on the server.
    There's a couple of different ways you can accomplish this:
    1) Use workshop's datasource viewer under Tools->WebLogic
    Server->Datasource Viewer...
    and make sure you see your datasource.
    2) Use the console or weblogic.Admin to make sure that your datasource
    exists. In the console you'd look under Servcies->JDBC->Datasources.
    With weblogic.Admin the MBean type that you would look for, and that
    Workshop looks for, using the command line tool is: JDBCTxDataSource
    So a sample command to get these MBean types would be:
    java weblogic.Admin -url t3://localhost:7001 -username weblogic
    -password weblogic get -type JDBCTxDataSource -pretty
    (making sure of course that you have weblogic.jar on your classpath)
    If you don't see the JDBCTxDataSource MBean that corresponds to your
    datasource then workshop isn't going to find your datasource.
    B) Make sure that the datasource NAME that you specify for
    your entity beans match what the NAME of the datasource
    is on the server. Not the JNDI name but the name of the datasource.
    hope this helps,

  • Workshop and Filters

    Hi
    We are planning to incorporate filters in our J2EE App (created using workshop
    8.1 SP2) to be able to the NDC approach of Log4J in order to be able to log the
    remote host name in our server log file with every log message . Ours is an intranet
    app so the number of clients is < 60 and we need to log messages in a single server
    log file with each message identified by the remote hostname.
    How do we incorporate filters in workshop ?? Is it like a normal filter in any
    web-app or is it not allowed in workshop (which i guess is highly unlikely).
    If anyone has a code snippet that would be great else if u can let me know the
    approch that would be also cool.
    TIA folks !!

    Filters in Workshop are no different then in any other J2EE based
    application. Write the filter code in a class as per usual and modify the
    web.xml in your web project accordingly just like you would do normally.

  • Upgrading WLS 8.1 SP2 to SP5: does SSL setup need to be re-done?

    All,
    Our production application has been built using Workshop 8.1 SP2, and is deployed on a WLS 8.1 SP2. We are now wanting to upgrade to SP5, and so I used the "Smart Update" utility to upgrade my local instance to SP5. Our application is accessed over SSL, so I was wondering if the whole SSL-setup that was done when we setup our production SP2 environment a year ago needs to be re-done? Our application has a web module, two java projects, uses SSL-based web-services and has a custom Oracle JAAS login module. I already found out that there is a particular setting on the domain that has changed between SP2 and SP5 that allows anonymous lookup of MBeans(Anonymous Admin Lookup Enabled). Are there any other such settings/considerations i need to be aware of in moving from SP2 to SP5?
    All help is appreciated..it will help me decide on moving to SP5.
    Thanks in advance!
    Vik.

    Hi Vik
    When you use smartupdate to upgrade from sp2 to sp5, it will upgrade only the weblogic workshop instance and not the domains.
    Either you will have to upgrade the existing sp2 domain to sp5 or create a new sp5 domain and configure it just like sp2.
    After the upgrade open the config.xml under the new domain and check the SSL config under the server just to make sure.As far as the SSL config is concerned it did not change from sp2 to sp5.
    More information on this is available at
    http://e-docs.bea.com/platform/docs81/upgrade/faq.html

  • Possible to use Beehive tags inside Workshop for AJAX?

    All,
    Our application is built using Workshop on WLS SP2, and we were thinking of adding some AJAX features in, especially an AJAX tree control. We know of the BEA WebLogic Tree control, but it doesnt support AJAX. On the other hand, the same control has been re-worked under Apache Beehive to support AJAX. Could anyone please tell me if they have managed to get Beehive tags work inside Workshop? Any pointers/suggestions on other AJAX-enabled Tree controls are welcome too!
    Thanks ,
    Vikram.

    At this point, Beehive tags can't be used in Workshop 8.1 apps. Beehive depends on JDK 1.5 features that are not available in Workshop 8.1.

  • Log4J Logging from Global.App

    Hi
    Has anyone tried logging from the Global.App in a workshop project ?? I am able
    to get logging done from everywhere in our App except from Global.App .
    My WorkShopCFG.xml snippet is as follows :-
    <appender name="APPLOGFILE" class="org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender">
    <param name="File" value="app.log" />
    <param name="Append" value="true" />
    <param name="MaxFileSize" value="3000KB" />

    </layout>
    </appender>
    <category name="global">
    <priority value="info" />
    <appender-ref ref="APPLOGFILE" />
    </category>
    A code snippet from my Global.App source code is as follows :-
    public String getModuleAccess(String moduleAccess){
              log.info("[Entered getModuleAccess]");
              // Return the moduleAccess to the NetUI Repeator tag on the Page Flow.
              return      moduleAccess;
    The above code does get executed as I have verified this using the debugger but
    nothing gets logged to the log file .
    Is this a bug in Workshop 8.1 SP2 ??
    Please advise as we are embarking on a major J2EE project using Workshop and we
    want to be confident that the tool we use gives us all we need.
    Thanks

    PN - BTW what happened to the log posts ??? I see only 2 posts .. Just Curious..

    Hi
    We have not seen any such issue reported
    does the issue happen only with the Global.app of this particular application or does this happen with Global.app file in simple sample apps too?
    Did any one else tried the same project on a different m/c?
    It appears that there could be something with the app may be the size of the app that's causing the issue? Is it a big application?
    Also turn off the auto build. that way when you save Global.app no build will occur and we can see if it still crashes. Increase the heap size to some setting like vmargs -Xmx1024m -XX:PermSize=256m and try to see if it works.

  • Suggestions requested for Unit Testing process and build processes.

    Hi All,
    We are using WebLogic WorkShop 8.1 SP2 to build our WebApp. One thing I am trying
    to get together is a "Best Practises" list for aspects of WorkShop developement,
    particularly Unit Testing, Continous Build methodology, source control management
    etc.I have been through the "Best Practises Guide" that comes in WorkShop help,
    but it doesnt address these issues.This could help us all for future projects.
    1)Could anyone give pointers on how to perform Unit Testing using either JUnit/JUnitEE
    in the WorkShop realm, given that Controls cannot be accessed directly from PO
    Test classes.
    2)For a project of size say 5 developers ,does it make sense to have a nightly
    build using tools like CruiseControl?We use CVS for our source control and its
    working out pretty well, but given that we currently have no Unit Tests that can
    be run after the build and that can provide some reports on what broke/what didnt?
    I am sure we all would appreciate any suggestions and more questions on this topic.
    Thanks,
    Vik.

    Hi, Chris,
    can you perhaps explain your solution in greater detail. I am really curious to
    find a way to test controls.
    "Chris Pyrke" <[email protected]> wrote:
    >
    I have written (well it's a bit of a dirty hack really) something that
    lends itself
    to the name ControlTest (it unit tests controls). Its a blend of Junit
    and Cactus
    with some of the source of each brutalised a bit to get things to work
    (not much
    - it was a couple of hours work, when I was supposed to be doing something
    else).
    To write a control test you code something like...
    package com.liffe;
    import com.liffe.controlunit.ControlTestCase;
    import controls.Example;
    public class TestExample extends ControlTestCase
    private Example example = null;
    public void setUp() {
    example = (Example)getControl("example");
    public void testExample() {
    this.assertNotNull(example);
    String result = example.getData();
    assertEquals(result, "Happy as Larry");
    Other tasks required to set up a test are creating a web project with
    a jpf which
    needs some cut and paste code (14 lines) in its begin method and a jsp
    which is
    also cut and paste (5 lines). (ie create a standard web project and paste
    in 2
    pieces of code)
    In the web project you need to create a control (A) with an instance
    name of controlContainer.
    (if it's called something else the pasted in code will need changing
    to reflect)
    In this control you need to put an instance of TestContainerImpl and
    any controls
    that need testing.
    You then need to add a method to the control (A) that looks like…
    * @common:operation
    public String controlTestRun(String theSuiteClassName, boolean xsl)
    container.setControl("example", example);
    return container.controlTestRun(theSuiteClassName, xsl);
    You need to call container.setControl for each control being tested and
    the object
    'container' is the instance name of the TestContainerImpl that was put
    in.
    There are 4 jars (junit, cactus etc) that go in the library. You will
    also need
    the ControlUnitBase project (or maybe just it's jar).
    To use you call a URL like:
    http://localhost:7001/TestWeb/Controller.jpf?test=com.liffe.TestExample
    TestWeb is the name I gave to my web project - this will be different
    for each
    test project
    com.liffe.Example is the class above and will therefore be different
    for each
    test case.
    You can also call
    http://localhost:7001/TestWeb/Controller.jpf?test=com.liffe.TestExample&xsl=true
    (Note the extra &xsl=true) and the browser will (if it can) render it
    more prettily.
    This seems to do the job quite nicely, but there are several caveats
    I would hope
    someone from bea would be able to address before I start using it widely.
    1) To access the control you need to create it (eg as a subcontrol in
    the control
    (A) above.
    To get it into the test case you need to pass it round as an Object (can't
    return
    Control from a control operation). As it's being passed around among
    Java (POJO)
    classes I'm assuming that control remains in the control container context
    so
    this is OK. It seems to work and the Object is some form of proxy as
    any control
    seems to be reproxied before the control is invoked from the test case.
    2) If I'm testing controls called from a JPD then they either need to
    be in a
    control project (and my test cases called from a Web Project) which makes
    for
    a large increase in project numbers (we already have this and are trying
    to resist
    it) To avoid this - as a process project is a brain damaged web project
    I simply
    perform some brain surgery and augment the process project with some
    standard
    files found in any old web project. this means I can call the test JPF
    from a
    browser. This seems nasty, is there a better way?
    3) I would like to be able to deliver without the test code. At the worst
    the
    code can be in place but must be inacessible in a production environment.
    I don't
    know how best to do this - any suggestions (without creating lots of
    projects,
    or lots of manual effort)
    If anyone has read this far I would ask the question does this seem like
    the kind
    of thing that would be useful?
    Hopefully a future version of workshop will have something to enable
    unit testing
    and this hacking will be unnecessary.
    Could someone from BEA tell me if this is a dangerous way to do things?

    Hi All,
    We are using WebLogic WorkShop 8.1 SP2 to build our WebApp. One thing
    I am trying
    to get together is a "Best Practises" list for aspects of WorkShop developement,
    particularly Unit Testing, Continous Build methodology, source control
    management
    etc.I have been through the "Best Practises Guide" that comes in WorkShop
    help,
    but it doesnt address these issues.This could help us all for future
    projects.
    1)Could anyone give pointers on how to perform Unit Testing using either
    JUnit/JUnitEE
    in the WorkShop realm, given that Controls cannot be accessed directly
    from PO
    Test classes.
    2)For a project of size say 5 developers ,does it make sense to have
    a nightly
    build using tools like CruiseControl?We use CVS for our source control
    and its
    working out pretty well, but given that we currently have no Unit Tests
    that can
    be run after the build and that can provide some reports on what broke/what
    didnt?
    I am sure we all would appreciate any suggestions and more questions
    on this topic.
    Thanks,
    Vik.

    To add to Patrick's suggestion....
    What I am suggesting is not the cause of the FLOWS_030000 user existing error, but could be another issue which caused your installation to fail.
    In your post, you said...
    This is the command i gave to configure from SQL prompt:
    @D:\Apex3.0\apexins.sql <Newly Create User> <Newly Created Tablespace> <Newly Created Tablespace> TEMP /i/
    You have specified an absolute path when running the apexins.sql script. In order for the installation to succeed, you must first change your working directory to the directory where you unzipped the apex_3.0.zip file and then run the script. This is because the apexins.sql script subsequently references other sql scripts, using relative paths.
    You have also not included a password in your command, was this just for purposes of the posting, or could this also be an issue, as in:
    @apexins password tablespace_apex tablespace_files tablespace_temp images
    Hope this helps,
    Anthony

    regards

    Install 4.0 pass ok!
    1. I was changing apexins.sql
    as PREFIX='@/usr/lib/oracle/xe/apex/'
    and add path to coreins.sql as @/usr/lib/oracle/xe/apex/coreins.sql
    2. create two folders coreinscore and coreinsbuild and copy all files from folder core and folder build
    3. copy and rename endins.sql as coreinsendins.sql
    after 10 min instalation pass ok!

  • Wsdl2service and document style

    Hello everybody.
    This is very urgent so any help will be really appreciated.
    I have a WSDL which uses document/literal style/encoding. I am running wsdl2service on it to generate java classes, and then proceeding successfully to generate and deploy a web service. The weblogic test page also works successfully.
    But when I look at the SOAP on-the-wire message, it is not document style SOAP compliant, for example, for the operation CreateNewAccount, that takes in the schema Customer.xsd, I get the following message :
    <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:SOAP-ENC="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:m0="http://www.schema.com/Bank">
         <SOAP-ENV:Body>
              <m:CreateNewAccount xmlns:m="http://www.telcordia.com/TestWebServices/Bank.wsdl">
                   <m0:Name></m0:Name>
                   <m0:SSN></m0:SSN>
                   <m0:Balance>0</m0:Balance>
                   <m0:Address>
                        <m0:Number></m0:Number>
                        <m0:Street></m0:Street>
                        <m0:State></m0:State>
                        <m0:Zip></m0:Zip>
                   </m0:Address>
              </m:CreateNewAccount>
         </SOAP-ENV:Body>
    </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    The way I understand, if this were document styled web-service, the operation name in above should be replaced by Customer.xsd root element name. (Pls see the attached WSDL).
    I tried the same WSDL with the Systinet server, and it produced a SOAP message that I was expecting.
    If I changed this WSDL to rpc mode, the CreateNewAccount node is followed by the Customer node, which is fine.
    So my question is, is this a WLS 81 SP2 bug, or am I doing something wrong or missing something?

    The generated web-services.xml from wsdl2service can have either style="rpc" or
    style="document". And in order to accomodate doc/lit operations that have multiple
    params you would need to edit the web-services.xml to have style="documentwrapped".

    Hi,
    I have been using the autotype and wsdl2service ant tasks to generate
    firstly a complex data type from the .xsd, associated with a .WSDL.
    Then I use the wsdl2service to generate a Interface class which I implement.
    When I deploy this and try to use it from the test page in the Console,
    I get an error in the Weblogic.log:
    ERROR: Backend components for Document style webservice can only accept
    methods with one input parameter.
    Does anyone know how I can get wsdl2service to generate documentwrapped
    webservice.xml.
    Many thanks,

  • How to run a simple program with main?

    I have a simple class with main, something like the following:
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    Is it possible to run / execute this main from within workshop?

    In SP2 we've made it very easy to automatically set the main class name
    when you first try to run a class in a Java project that doesn't have
    already have debugging configured.
    More generalized ways to easily run a class with a main method are
    already on the list for the next release.
    Thanks for the feedback,

    Thanks, that worked:)
    Workshop should consider dealing with simple classes with main much
    simpler...

    Yes, you can run and debug it, but it needs to be in a Java project. If
    it's not already in one, create a new Java project and copy in the
    source. Go to the Project Properties, and select the Debugger settings.
    Enter the class that contains the main method. If you'd like, you can
    set the checkbox for Build before Debugging so that you are always
    running off the current source code.
    You should then be able to run the project after building it.
