Workshop Wiki Page on Dev2Dev

All,
I started up a Wiki page on Dev2dev in response to a customer?s question
about plug-ins that work with Workshop. If you have plug-ins you use with
either Studio or Workshop, and would like to contribute to this, please add

Hi,
It is a really nice idea. Maybe the page ought to serve as a hub for other articles.
A couple of comments on sharing medias:
* I have not been very happy with upnp. I used it for a while when I had a Synology NAS, but the fact that it seemed to rely on some kind of index made it less attractive. Samba has treated me nice; it always works (as oppose to "real" Windows shares which is a drag to setup).  I use samba for sharing videos and pictures to XMBC4Xbox.
* For streaming live audio output, i.e. what is playing *right now* on my laptop to my stero, I have found a combo of icecast, pulseaudio and gstream to work nice. For serving static audio files I use squeezeboxserver. Had I used a Sonos sound system I would have used Samba again.
* For PS3, which is a somewhat limited device, there is a nice java application that takes care of everything.
* What I really miss is some way to preserve metatags when downloading video podcasts. To me it does not matter much at the moment as xbmc does not support local rss feeds. . .
I could add some comments on some of the above if you think it fits into your article.

  • How to add a reference to a custom stylesheet from a Team Site wiki page

    We have a Team Site (no publishing feature enabled).  We have several wiki pages where we inserted custom html content via "edit source".  This custom content has some divs defined in it to which we want to apply some styling.  We
    have styles.css saved in Style Library.  How do I reference this style.css from the wiki page?  I don't want to put the style definition on the wiki page itself since the same style will be shared by multiple pages.
    thanks,

    There are a variety of customization options available for BEA Workshop. Through metadata you can define renderings for custom tags, tag appearance in the tag libraries view, customize the tag editors, and much more.
    Information about customization can be found at the following link: http://workshopstudio.bea.com/docs/tlei.htm
    Adding custom tag documention to the Tag Libraries view is not currently a configuration option but would be a useful addition. I will file an enchancement request for this functionality.

  • SharePoint 2013 RTE Custom Styles lost on Team Site Wiki Page after you select a control in the editor

    I have a weird issue in that I have custom RTE styles working fine in publishing pages, but in the team site wiki page, when you first go into edit mode you see your styles, but if you highlight some text, select say the font drop down to expand it and then
    select it again to contract it (i.e. without selecting a font), all of a sudden all of the custom styles are lost and everything reverts back to the default RTE styles.
    In my master page I am running the following script to force my styles to be loaded.
    ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(
    function() {
         $(
    "div[RteRedirect]").each(function()
    varid = $(this).attr("RteRedirect"),
             editSettings = $(
    "#"+ id);
    if(editSettings.length > 0 &&
    editSettings[0].PrefixStyleSheet != 'custom-rte')
                 editSettings[0][
    'PrefixStyleSheet'] =
    'custom-rte';
                 editSettings[0][
    'StyleSheet'] =
    '\u002f_layouts\u002f15\u002fFiveP\u002frteStyles.css';
                 RTE.Canvas.fixRegion(id,
    false);
    "sp.ribbon.js");
    See below screenshots (note Heading 2 is orange).
    After you collapse the font menu, you see that the orange H2 has disappeared, and selecting the font drop down again now shows all of the default SharePoint RTE styles.
    I haven't been able to capture the Event that is being called using the debugger. Any ideas how to fix this?

  • Wiki page layout with multiple rows in SharePoint 2013 foundation?

    We have a SharePoint 2013 foundation version and a requirement to create custom wiki pages with predefined templates. SharePoint provides template with header, footer and middle row out of which only middle row can have more than one column, we need more
    than that. Can anybody help us in achieving this?

    Thank you for your reply Inderjeet.<o:p></o:p>
    Actual problem is with wiki page custom templates, we have created some custom templates and they work fine, please refer below link for implementation

  • Problem with adding a second Categories field to my Enterprise Wiki Page template

    I wanted to add a second category field beside the default wiki category. So I did the following steps:-
    Inside my enterprise wiki site collection, I added a new Site Column, named “customer” with a managed metadata type.
    Then I added the site column to the “Enterprise Wiki Page” content type.
    After that using the SharePoint Designer , I added the new “Customer ” column to my EnterpriseWiki.aspx page layout.
    The result was that I got a new category field , but I am facing these two problems:-
    When selecting items for the new metadata column, the items are not clickable, unlike the default Wiki Category field, which allow users to click on the terms , as follow:-
    The new category column was not displayed inside the Tree View , same as for the default Wiki category, as follow:-
    So can anyone advice how I can solve these two problems ? Thanks

    The Visio Web Part displays Visio diagrams that are located in SharePoint.  Once you log out it won't have access to your desktop anymore.  Instead you should upload the Visio document to a SharePoint library and then reference it from
    there.  It would be nice if it was integrated into a single process, but I suspect its not something MS thought enough people would do to spend the time writing the extra code to integrate it.  So at least for now its a two step process.

    so to add a visio diagram , we need to do the following:-
    1. upload the visio to SP.
    2. add a web part.
    3. Browse for the Visio drawing.
    by defualt there is no way to directly upload a new Visio diagram...

  • Printing SharePoint 2013 Wiki Page Library as a whole

    Hi!  I'm trying to find a good solution for printing an entire SharePoint 2013 Wiki page library.  In SharePoint 2010 I built a site and created a printer friendly view that used "Wiki Content" column that only printed the contents
    of the wiki pages as a whole using the solution from this link:
    https://mail.americredit.com/owa/redir.aspx?C=Wl_sVZBaUUqYaSN9F2Qq6Mc3RL-ZwtEIzEWL5ULgM7U6Hr1eoqsoq26BC3E89ofm2Liksb54EjM.&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.eblogin.com%2feblogin%2fpost%2f2011%2f11%2f24%2fsharepoint-wikiPagePrint.aspx%23.VDVWdPldVBc
    It was very easy to do and my client loved it.  However, now that we are starting to migrate over to SharePoint 2013 I don't see the same column option and I haven't been able to create a printable view like the one above.  Is there a way
    to do this in 2013 like what was available in 2010?

    Hi Jeremy,
    That link take me through to an Exchange Login.  Can you provide another link for the solution you've used.
    An older solution that sounds familiar is in this thread.  It's for an older version of SharePoint but should still work

  • Page Title Option in SharePoint 2013 Wiki Page.

    In SharePoint 2013, How can I add title to the page that is created under Site Pages library, out of the box I don’t see any option to add title under “Edit Properties section” , please find the attached screenshot.
    I am trying to navigate to the
    /_catalogs/masterpage
    by opening site in SharePoint designer but I don’t find the test1.aspx page.
    Thanks, Ram Ch

    Hi Ram,
    Based on your description, my understanding is that you want to add Title to a wiki page from Site Pages library in SharePoint 2013.
    By default, when we edit a wiki page’s properties, the Title is not displaying. If you want to change the Title of a wiki page, you can modify the current view and add the Title into the view, then use “Quick Edit” to change the Title.
    If you want to add the Title property into a wiki page, you can do via SharePoint Designer 2013.
    The steps are:
    Open your site with SharePoint Designer 2013.
    Click “Site Pages” from the left panel, then click the page that you used and click “Edit file”.
    Find the content place holder with ID “PlaceHolderPageTitle”, then add the following code into the below of the content place holder.
    <asp:Content ContentPlaceHolderID="PlaceHolderPageTitleInTitleArea" runat="server">
            <SharePoint:ListItemProperty Property="Title" runat="server"/>
    </asp:Content>
    The result looks like:
    Note: when you edit the page in SharePoint Deisgner 2013, make sure it is in Advanced Mode.

  • Sharepoint 2013 Wiki Page - Links in content rewritten to relative urls

    We have an issue where on all SharePoint 2013 wiki pages any URL to items within the site containing the wiki page are rewritten to be relative URLs. This causes a huge problem when we surface these pages and a snippet of their content through a search web
    part because the links fail being relative to the wiki page itself. To further illustrated with an example.
    A site collection root page http://www.sp2013.com/default.aspx contains a search results web part returning all wiki pages in the site collection. There is a custom display template that renders
    the linked title of the wiki page and the first 500 characters of formatted text (html) of the wiki page.
    A wiki page is created in a sub site (sub1) called wiki1 (http://www.sp2013.com/sub1/pages/wiki1.aspx) the text of the page contains:
    "Check out our new library: Document Library"
    Document Library is a hyperlink to (http://www.sp2013.com/sub1/Document%20Library/Forms/AllItems.aspx)
    Upon saving the wiki page the link is reformatted to be /Document%20Library/Forms/AllItems.aspx
    From the rollup web part at http://www.sp2013.com/default.aspx the relative url in the snippet text of the display template evaluates to
    http://www.sp2013.com/Document%20Library/Forms/AllItems.aspx which does not exist.
    I have attempted modifying the source of the wiki page as well as the link in the ribbon however upon save of the changes the link is always modified to be relative. Any assistance is appreciated as this is extremely frustrating. Thank you.

    Hi JonesEJ,
    According to your description, my understanding is that SharePoint converts a absolute URL to
     a relative URL when you save the wiki pages containing the URL.
    This is actually the preferred behavior in SharePoint and on the web in general. SharePoint saves all absolute URLs for the wiki content as relative. It only does this if the URL matches the URL for the web application for that current wiki
    site.
    There is no OOB way to change the relative URL back to the absolute URL. For your issue, you can try to use
    SPSite.MakeFullUrl() to convert it back.
    There is a similar post for your reference:

  • Rendering Error when using more than one DataSheetView on a Enterprise Wiki-Page

    Hi Experts,
    how to reproduce:
    Add two Custom Lists with some Fields (Add Lookup-Columns to both Lists).
    Add a DataSheetView to each List and mark it as Default-View
    Create a Enterprise Wiki-Page
    Add a WebPart (Custom-List-1)
    You will see the Content from List 1 as DataSheet-View (because it is the Default-View)
    Add another WebPart below the previous added WebPart (Custom-List-2)
    You will see the Content from List 2 as DataSheet-View (because it is the Default-View)
    Notice that the First DataSheet has faulty Rendering. The Lookup-Columns having more than one 'Arror-Down' Image and it is even on the left. If you click into different Column, different row you get the same.
    I can reproduce this behaviour anytime.
    Environment: SharePoint 2013 Enterprise, IE10
    If you use Development-Tools to identify first datarow of first DataSheet you can see that it has to do something with the related <Input>-Tags:
    <div class="combobox-placeholder" id="jsgrid_combobox" style="left: 27px; top: 32px; width: 117px; height: 29px; border-top-color: currentColor; border-right-color: currentColor; border-bottom-color: currentColor; border-left-color:
    currentColor; border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; visibility: inherit; ; direction: ltr; min-width:
    117px; background-color: transparent;">
    <input class="cb-textbox " style="width: 156px; height: 25px;" dir="ltr" type="text"/><input tabindex="-1" title="Dropdown" class="combobox-img" style="height: 29px;"
    dir="ltr" type="button" value="▼"/><input class="cb-textbox " style="width: 84px; height: 25px;" dir="ltr" type="text"/><input tabindex="-1" title="Dropdown"
    class="combobox-img" style="height: 29px;" dir="ltr" type="button" value="▼"/>
    Please have a look into it. Current Workaround for me is to have a Default-ListView in first WebPart. But then Customer has to click the Edit-Button to Change the Item in the releated EditForm. This is a Show-Stopper here!
    With Best Regards,
    Ronny

    Hi Ronny,
    According to your description, the lookup column would render incorrectly when adding more than one datasheet view in the Enterprise Wiki page.
    I tested the same scenario per your post, and I got the same results as you got.
    We will help to submit the issue to proper pipeline for you.
    Again, thank you for your report which will definitely make SharePoint a better products. There might be some time delay.
    Appreciate your time and patience.
    Best regards.

  • How can I allow users to view any Wiki Pages inside my enterprise wiki site collection, as PDF files

    We are working on an enterprise wiki site collection, and users start adding wiki pages and link them together. But a new requirement was raised by the customer, to allow users to be able to convert any wiki page to pdf file and save the pdf file to their
    local PCs. They are suggesting to add a link or an option inside the upper ribbon , named “Make as PDF”, and once clicked they can view the current wiki as a pdf file.
    Not sure what are the capabilities of SharePoint 2013 to do so ? and is there any third paryt tools that allow doing similar tasks ?
    Thanks

    If you want to save as PDF, could you not use a PDF printer, so the procedure would be to 'Print this page' and the user then selects their PDF printer and where they want to save the file.
    but in this way the user will have the page header footer, left navigation included in the pdf file. while i want to extract the body only. i so not think you apprach will work for my requirements

  • How can I create a link that allows users to convert a Wiki pages into PDF format.

    I am working on an enterprise Wiki library site collection, but I want to create a link named “Convert to PDF” , which allow users to convert the current Wiki into a pdf file. I need this link to be displayed some where in all the exsiting Wikis pages, and
    on any new wiki page. Can anyone advice if there is already such as capability within sharePoint 2013.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    For your requirement, we can add this link to the master page, then it will appear in the pages which apply this master page.
    To convert the current page to PDF, you can take consideration of using jsPDF.

  • How to automatically remove the wiki page's images from the Images library , when a wiki page is deleted

    I have noted the following strange behavior inside my Publishing enterprise wiki site collection. Now by default when I create a new wiki page and I add Pictures to it, the pictures will be saved under the “Images” library and will be inside a unique folder
    that have its name similar to the page name.
    But when users delete the picture from the wiki page or they delete the whole wiki page, then the related folder inside the “Images” library will not be removed. So can anyone advice if there is a way to automatically remove the page’s pictures
    folder from the Images library when the page is deleted? as currently i might end up having many pictures inside the Images library which are not linked to a wiki page, and they will waste my server desk space...

    I think, not sure, there's no out-of-the-box solution in SharePoint for this problem. So I can only think of custom solution:
    In event Receiver, ItemDeleting, you can delete images. The only downside is if some other pages are referring the images..... you need to check somehow which is quite time-consuming operations if you have thousand of pages in wiki library
    A timer job, that will run periodically, every day or week, and clean all unused images.
    Hide the default delete button and add your own. And then using your own custom layout page, show a 'configuration dialog' to user if they want to delete both page and images.
    Thanks,
    Sohel Rana
    http://ranaictiu-technicalblog.blogspot.com
    Please do not tell me this is not supported out of the ox ,,,,, i that i should handle this process by myself !!! and SharePoint does not support this feature .... this is another  problem i should include in my list .....

  • I need help using multiple content types in a wiki page library

    I currently trying to used multiple custom content types based off of the wiki page content type in one wiki page library.
    EDIT: "Allow management of content types" has been enabled with the designer
    The way i would like this library to work is:
    Click the "Files" tab in the ribbon
    Click the "New Document" drop down menu
    Select one of the content types (Client, Contact, Project)
    SharePoint Will Ask for the Page Name and content type fields
    Click create
    Then it will take you to the new created page.
    This issue I'm currently having is when i click on one of the options (Client, Contact, Project) it will ask for a page name then you have to check it in to get to the edit form. The edit form it then loads is the default content type and not the selected
    content type.
    So my questions are.
    Is there any way i can combine the page name and edit steps together into one step?
    How can I get the edit form to pull from the selected content type?
    Thanks in advanced
    James T.F

    Wiki library isn't really designed for customizations... it's a "special" library that overrides a lot of default behavior... similar evidence can be found if you're trying to add metadata columns to wiki pages... they're just not really designed to handle
    it very well.
