Workspace Admin vs. ProjectDeployment

Hi,
as far as I know, I can create views, presentations, etc. either by creating them in the studio and then deploying the project or by creating them using the Workspace Admin. Question for me is, is there anything I can do only with the Workspace Admin and not within the Studio?
Kind regards
Matthias

I think the layouts... You can only change in the workspace.. Also songs external resource setting might be done using Process Admin...

    Hi All,
I am trying the create a seperate domain for workspace admin, which is deployed in the Weblogic server. When I try to login, I get the error "Protocol [REMOTE_JDBC] not supported".
    Am I missing some configuration?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Is this this is the first project you've deployed on an Engine you've just installed? Knowing this will help us understand if you have a problem in one of the external resources in your project or if you had a problem caused by the installation.
If this is a new Engine, did you use the installation wizard that comes with Oracle BPM 10g? How did you answer the database information for the Directory Service and the Engine? Did you allow the wizard to create a new J2EE domain or did you try to use an existing one (I struggle using the wizard using an existing domain during the installation and get a similar error when I do so)?
    Thanks,
    Dan

  • Process Administrator and Workspace admin url for 10gR3

I am running 10gR3 bpm locally.
Url to access my local workspace is http://localhost:8585/workspace/faces/jsf/workspace/workspace.xhtml
Could you let me know the URL for accessing the process administrator and workspace admin.
    Thanks in advance.

Looking at your port 8585 it is the default port for Studio, in Studio there is no webconsole or workspace administrator, those applications only are available in enterprise.
If your case is enterprise then the url is /webconsole and /portaladmin

  • Your Feedback Desired: Integrating Developer Workspaces through SSO

    Greetings,
I work a for junior college in the San Francisco Bay Area, and we are actively preparing to deploy Oracle APEX to complement our web application design activities, and hopefully empower our developers to create applications that move away from the aged batch and process model. We are interested in securing the development side of APEX using single sign-on if possible. We want developer accounts to be provisioned and password controlled through an external source of truth. I've reviewed the administration guide, and did some Googling to see if this is possible or has been done before. So far I'm coming up with nothing. Managing developer accounts apparently is done one way through APEX instance administration. Before I deliver my findings to the greater team, I want to make sure I have accurate information.
Please share your experiences with managing APEX developers and workspaces. How are you doing it in a production environment? Have you been able to automate the process? Successes or pitfalls?
    Cheers,
    Matt

    Hi,
Currently application builder is authenticated with Apex users
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/admin.40/e15521/aadm_users.htm#sthref107
There is no way use LDAP or SSO to login to application builder currently.
You can create end user applications that are authenticated with LDAP, SSO ....
But developer users are maintained as Apex users by instance and/or workspace admin.

  • Assigning additional storage to workspace

    Hi,
there should be a really simple answer to this question, but as I can't find it, I would be happy for some help :)
How do I request additional storage to a workspace as a workspace admin/assign additional storage as an apex admin in v. 3.1?
The manual (Application Express User's Guide Release 3.1) seems to be referring to version 3 or earlier?
    Thanks!

    hi
You can approve workspace limits via:
    http://localhost:8080/apex/apex_admin
You can request workspace limit changes via
    Home>Administration>Manage Services
    Then click on Request Storage.

  • Workspace/Developer users and Oracle accounts

We plan to install Apex 4 (for first time) into an existing database with many schemas and users. Some users already have developer privileges in their schemas pre-Apex install. Will their user/schema privileges be 'inherited' into the Apex environment or will they have to be re-defined as Workspace admins/developers? If they have to be re-defined as developer user in Apex is there a way for them to keep their old passwords?
Also, we are implementing Oracle Identity Management and plan to move all developer-type accounts to be Enterprise User accounts in OIM. Will Apex developer users be compatible with this?
    Thanks,
    Pat

Yes, I have no problem with end-user authentication -- we have already implemented LDAP authentication in another Apex environment with our central LDAP directory as an alternate user authentication. I am glad to hear that some plans are being made for other methods of authentication of developers--why not become compatible with Oracle's own OIM and the concept of Enterprise User??
Quoting an Oracle whitepaper entitled: Directory Services Integration with Database Enterprise User Security
"... many enterprises today are still managing database users and privileges in individual databases. From end user perspective, managing passwords in multiple databases is confusing and results in poor user experience. From administration perspective, redundant user management is costly, and managing user authorizations in multiple databases is error prone. From auditing and compliance perspective, on time provision and de-provision of user access and privileges across databases is challenging.
Enterprise User Security (EUS), an Oracle Database Enterprise Edition feature, leverages the Oracle Directory Services, and gives you the ability to centrally manage database users and role memberships in an LDAP directory. Enterprise User Security reduces administration cost, increases security, and improves compliance through centralized database user account management, centralized provisioning and de-provisioning of database users, centralized password management and self-service password reset, and centralized management of authorizations using global database roles. "
Sounds like a great option to consider!!

  • Classic Application Administration vs. Administration within the workspace

Can someone tell me the Pros and Cons of Classic Application Administration vs Administering the App from the Workspace?
We have always used Classic and I would like to know if it would be worth the effort to convert over.

Workspace admin features, or EPM Architect, is certainly the future direction. The windows based metadata manager is on the sunset trail in terms of new features being added. That said there are still some things that need to be ironed out in certain areas. I would recommend building this into your dev plans and carefully evaluating before migrating to your production efforts. One impetus for moving straight to the EPMA platform was to take advantage of the new graphical calculation manager interface for building rules in HFM rather than using the VB script editor. This need will be gone with the release later this summer where you will be able to use the Calc Manager with both CLassis and EPMA applications. So I would definately prepare yourself, but tread lightly for now.

  • Schema Assignment to WORKSPACE

    Hi,
I developed Application in one of the custom Schema.
    WORSPACE : DEMOSPACE
    SCHEMA : DEMO
Can i assign one more existing schema to "DEMOSPACE" like OE,SCOTT,HR..
    Best Regards
    Perumal Swamy.R

Actualy while adding schema the process is
completed.Eh? You are one confusing person. So you are already able to successfully associate another schema to your workspace?! So why in the world are we talking about that part? Why not focus on your real problem.
Creation Method: As an application on a database
    table
Table / View Owner DEMO (LOV Shows only DEMO
Schema which is the Workspace owner).Clearly, you are using HTML DB Version 1.6 (that is something else you should mention up-front to avoid confusion)
That Schema dropdown on that page is supposed to show you all the schemas associated with that workspace.
If it does not, maybe your userid is restricted to access only subset of all schemas available to the workspace.
Log in as a workspace admin and go to
Home>HTML DB Workspace Administration>Manage HTML DB Users>Existing Users>Edit User for the userid that you are logging in as.
Make sure that the "Accessible Schemas (null for all)" box is blank. This will ensure that the user will have be able to build applications using any of the schemas available to the workspace.

  • Workspace to parse SQL statements from multiple database schema's

    Hi ,
When go through the following link of workspace admin user :
Home>HTML DB Workspace Administration>Manage Services>Schema Reports>Workspace Schemas there I saw "Your workspace has the privilege to parse SQL statements using the following database schemas. Note that the terms database schema and database user can be used interchangeably.
    " at the right pane.
So how can i make my workspace to parse SQL statements from multiple database schema's ?That must be listed there .But i have only one schema in view ? Can i make it multiple ?If then How ?
    Anybody have an idea ?

Assign as many schemas to your workspace as you want using the administration app. Read about it in the doc.

  • Assign more the one workspace to a developer account

I have run into a stumbling block in setting up my accounts for Apex that seem to conflict with the training class I just took
I want to assign more then one workspace to a developer.
On page 1-16 of the oracle class manual it indicates that you can assign more then one workspace to a developer. On page 1-16 it depicts user 'A' having access
    to Wkspc1 and Wkspc2.
However when I login as admin or the workspace admin and I click 'create' there does not appear to be a way to assign more then one workspace to the account.
It appears you need create the same account(e.g. dev01) under each workspace. That is you create the same account for each workspace and can give it the same password.
So you end up with more then one account with the same name assigned to each workspace. Create dev01 on wrkspc1 then create devo1 on workspc2 etc.
Is this correct? This doesn't seem right.

    Hello,
are given access to only one workspace at a timeCorrect
are created in Apex only(not db)Well Apex runs inside the DB...so yes the accounts are created in the DB, however they are only accessible (and meaningful) from within Apex. You can't login to the DB via SQLPlus using Workspace credentials for example.
can not use a db account to login as a developerCorrect
to access more then one workspace at time the account must be
    created seperately in each workspace.Correct
if the applications are db account authenticated ....Correct.
if the applications are apex account authenticated then a different user account...Correct
    Hope this helps,
    John.

  • Workspace adminlogin failed

I have apex 3.2 with oracle 9i on server. apex works fine. today i tried to login as workspace admin (kpkdadmin) to admin page (i.e. f?p=4550:10). login failed. it gives message invalid login credentials.
if i login to sql plus using admin, it is successful and display all data & tables etc.
then i searched for forum and try to run validateapex.sql by login as system to database.
but i got errors ora-00942, pls-00201 multiple nomber of times.
I need to create database link by login kpkdadmin
kpkdadmin user status is open in dba_users table

But my problem is that I am able to login in sql plus as kpkdadmin.
If password works ther it should work in apex on admin login page also
correct me if i am wrong. You are incorrect. The admin user for the APEX internal workspace does not correspond to an database user/schema.
The default username for the apex internal workspace is ADMIN. The password can be changed using apxxepwd.sql:

  • 2 database schemas for the same workspace ?

    Hello Marvel team,
I have a workspace with an application which points on the DB shema1.
Now, can I have in the same workspace, another application which points on anoter BBshema ?
    Thanks for any help !

=1134724Wow! That's quite a thread. I'm not sure if that helps anyone or not.
Rosy, are you the HTML DB admin or is that someone else? If you're not, then you can request an additional schema by going to Administration tab of your workspace, on the Manage Services dropdown/link select Request Schema.
If you are the workspace admin then follow the instructions above re: logging into the internal workspace and setting up another schema.
Either way, once the schema is setup you need to decide/set your parsing schema and do the appropriate grants from one schema to the other so you can query them both like they're in the same schema.
