Hi,  Just downloaded trial of PSE 11.  I have PSE 10.  I can have two different photos or projects open in my workspace at the same time in PSE 10.  How can I do that in PSE 11?  Thanks so much

Hi ,
After opening both files in Expert mode , Go to Task bar icon of Layout and select All columns or All Rows.
If you want to customized way of arrangement Go to Edit menu > Prefereces and select "Allow floating document" and go to Window menu > Image > Float all in windows.

  • How to un-fill workspace background, PSE 8 for Mac

I just bought v. 8 for Mac, and there is no checkbox in Prefs to get rid of the 'fill workspace background', its keeping me from using v. 8, as I cannot see my desktop.
Here is a screenshot to show what is wrong,
    http://www.jcdouglass.net/images/no-yes.jpg
If you can help me get rid of this annoying thing, I will be very happy to use the new version,
    Thank you,
    Jane

    Hi Barbara,
Thank you!   Weve been struggling with this, they sure fooled me by changing the way to do it.
I would think that Fill Workspace would be better working than Application Frame, as it sure isnt a frame in my book.
But you saved the day for us, as you always do!
2 more interesting things, when I use this forum with Firefox 3.5.5 for Mac or Opera 10.10, when I click Post Message, I get an error message that there is no body to the message, but found that using Safari is the fix for that one.
And Adobe forums would not recognize my old username, email, Adobe ID #, nor my password on this new Mac. I couldnt figure that one out, as it works fine on my old Mac, but this new one, whew, I had to re-sign up. But I am the old Jane from years ago from Cape Cod.
And we have a new Yellow Lab, a girl named Lilly.
    Thank you again!
I will post the answer on our classroom forum immediatly.

  • Color Management Module In Photoshop

Question:  A color management module is the software that defines the mathematical manipulations by which color conversions are made?

    Thanks for your quick reply.

Re: Color Management Module In Photoshop created by ronzie99 in Photoshop Elements - View the full discussion
There are different types of icc\icm profiles used in color management.
First is the color workspace. PSE is by default set to create files in the color space embedded in the image opened and if not then the default color space of your choosing. The type of color space describes the gamut limitations of that color space.
Next are device specific color profiles. These are the display and printer profiles but can also exist for input devices. These profiles serve as tables to fit the measured characteristicsof the device to the color space requireed. For output devices there are Rendering Intents that can be chosen to determine how the limitations of a device can be best interpolated to fit the color space of an image  into the limitations of the device for best appearance.
A practical way to think of a display to output workflow think of the color space situated between the displayed image and the output device with the color space in the middle defining limitations as a standard. The devices profiles are then measured against the standard color profile to create corrections or translation table so they react appropropriately to present the image on the display for the output device target profile in an attempt to get a 'what you see is what you get' envirionment for the specific devices used.
You need to create via calibration either by you (better) or insttall from the manufacturer a profile for the display. This matches your display device to the 'standard' profile. If you go to print then you'll need to install a printer profile (which varies by ink and paper type) either OEM or from paper suppliers or created by a measuring device you can purchase if you go 'rogue' regrding non-OEM inks and papers.
PSE does not have a soft-proof mode built in like Photoshop. It does have a setup, though, where it will let you assign every time you print an output profile that you select if you want PSE to directly manage the printer for tonality and color, in which case in the printer driver itself you disable color management only leaving the driver to descrive the image quality and surface type of the paer chosen and choosing none or leaving icm unchecked in the printer driver. The profile is selected in the PSE printer driver under advanced.
Soft proof mode is where the display translation is further manipulated to approximate the printer output. This can happen because you have calibrated your monitor to a standard and a printer tothat same standard. I have an add-on for PSE 10 called Elements +  that in addition to lots of filters and effects adds some soft-proofing capability and curve color level adjustments to PSE. http://www.simplephotoshop.com/elementsplus/index.htm
In practical terms that is the function of color management.
BTW: The defacto color space for the Internet web browsers is sRGB. Use this when correcting color for web distribution.

  • Pan&Zoom in Picture-in-Picture; Zoomen&Schwenken mit Bild-in-Bild; Premiere Elements 13

    Hi,
    my question is:
I want to have the Pan&Zoom-Effect (also known as Ken-Burns-Effect) in a smaller Picture in the bigger background Picture. Every time I'm using the Pan&Zoom- Tool the Picture-in-Picture Effect disappears and the smaller Picture becomes a full frame Picture.  Is it possible to have both effects in one Picture?
Thanks for your Time and Support.
    Hallo,
    meine Frage lautet:

Here are two ways in the Expert mode in the pse 11 Editor:
(it works pretty much like pse 8, except the Tool Options are at the bottom of the workspace in pse 11)
    1. Use the Custom Shape Tool and in the drop-down choose the Arrows set
Set the options for the Shape Tool to Line and use the options in the tool options bar.

  • Zooming using mouse wheel ?

I just upgraded from PSE 5 to 9.  One of the handy functions in PSE 5 was the use of the mouse wheel to zoom in or out of a picture that you're working on in the editing work space.  Now it seems I have to use the brackets or the awkward zoom tool.
Is there a way I can activate/modify something so I can zoom with the mouse wheel?  Thanks.
Also, the type on the pulldown menus is harder to read than in PSE 5 because the type is small and it's revered out of black.  I'm going to explore the workspace in PSE 8.  Maybe I upgraded too far.

Open a photo in "Full Photo Edit" mode.
Select Edit>Preferenes>General.  Check the box that says "Zoom with Scroll Wheel".

  • Pse 8 for mac: turn off tabs in workspace?

I am finding the tabs across the top of the workspace get in the way when i am using tools and modifying them etc, mousing over the tab to get to the modify options, activates the tab label pop up, which blocks my use of the modifyers -- hope that makes sense)
I want to turn off the tab option -- no inactive, no active tabs above the workspace square -- just have the photos in the project bin is enough for me. I can't figure out HOW to turn this option off. Please help !
    eljoh

Thank you for quick response. When i open a few photos in PSE 8,  thumbnails go in the project bin along the bottom (that's good), the last photo opened opens in the in the work window (that's good), and at the top, above the workspace that holds the photo to work on (active photo), and below the options for adjusting tools and then the menus about that, are TABS with the file names of each photo opened, along the top of the work area. I want to shut off that option (i know i turned it on to try it, now want it off) as each time i ajust a brush size or opacity etc my mouse goes over a TAB which then leads to the file name "popping up" and blocking my access to the ajustments i want.
does that help you understand? i hope so !!

  • PSE Workspace too large for screen

I'm using PSE v.11 with OSX on an iMac.
The PSE workspace is too large for the screen e.g. the five icons to the left of "Add Event" on the lower control bar are not visible.
Have noted previous discussions have mentioned a "green button" - what's that ?
    Help appreciated.

But I'd try going to system prefs>displays and changing your resolution a few times till it snaps into place. You aren't running this on a first generation macbook air, are you?

  • PSE 11 Editor Workspace setup - new user ?

When I first installed PSE 11, the workspace was similar to the screen shot below, and I really liker thesetup, found it intuitive ans welcoming to use:
When I recently pened the program the workspace changed to this:
I thought maybe the "preferences were changesd accidentally, tried resetting them, and even reinstalling, but still the same "different" workspace in Editor.
Can anyone assist / explain and tell me how to set up / run PSE in the first format?
    Thanks!

Elements 10 was similar to most other advanced editing softwares. Priority to the image, to its colors and tones. Tools must not be disturbing to evaluate the image. Text menus should not fill the editing space. In other words, a professional tool for people working with big, calibrated displays in controlled ambient light.
You know what ? Adobe had so many complaints from people :
    - with not so good eyesight
    - working on small displays (notebooks)
    - used with bright and colored softwares,
that they decided to change everything to put the priority on the tools, texts and menus to make Elements editor a common amateur interface.
The result is not perfect (mostly, the interface lacks smart customization to be able to work both on big displays as well as minimal ones). Most former complainers were very happy, others like you and me were disappointed.
I don't think a forum poll would be representative : the new interface is clearly targetted at new users with different needs and practice. I do hope that future versions can add some customization to help advanced users to keep the focus on the image space rather than on the invading panels (photo bin, tool palette...)

    an do?

Nothing seems to work!!  PSE 8 is supposed to be plug and play without having to mess with anything, get tech support or waste my time.  Why then have I spent 3 evenings trying to make it work?   I called Wal Mart who have a no refund policy on software.  I HAVE HAD IT WITH THIS NONSENSE!!!
Please provide the link to get a refund from ADOBE.

  • PSE 7 no longer uploads the Organizer Workspace on my PC (Windows XP).

Can I simply reinstall PSE7 from the original disk without risking the loss of slide shows and catalogs?

Have you tried finding the application and double clicking directly on it?
It will be in the Program Files\Adobe folder and is named:

  • How can I use my PSE  9 after PSE 11 uninstall killed it?

    Hi,
no thanks to Adobe's "This version is no longer supported" policy I end up here - I am VERY upset but I hope it does not show.
I got the PSE 11 as a trial to see if it would have improvements I'd need but I decided not to buy it. Most annoying for me was that PSE 11 registered as "the official PSE" version - so whenever I use Edit in Photoshop Elements in Lightroom I got the PSE 11 version ... great design chooice, to have a TRIAL take over a regular full installation.
Now that the trial is over I decided to uninstall it, hoping to have my trusty PSE 9 as default editor. But, woe to me, as soon as I had PSE 11 uninstalled and tried to start PSE 9 I got an error ...
"Unable to continnue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable"
Great - so I uninstalled PSE 9 via System Control and reinstalled it from DVD. First thing I noticed ... it no longer installed Photoshop Elements executable - you know, the one where you have to choose at start between Edit and Organize. All I could find was the actual PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe. It didn't install the Organizer either ... so something is VERY, very wrong.
And when I actually start the PhotoshopElementsEditor it get's to the point of "Reading Workspace Modes" before it pops the same error message as before ...
Great ... now ... does anyone have any idea how to get  me out of that mess?
(Just in case someone from Adobe is reading that ... you may not support PSE 9 any longer but you fail to mention that installation and uninstallation of PSE 11 CAN render prior installations unusable ... in case I don't find a solution to get my PSE 9 up and running again this should provide enough leverage ....)
Thanks in advance to any  helpful souls out there,
    HtFde

It seems that uninstall of PSE11 didn't go fine. Can you please refer to following KB article to make sure that PSE11 has been uninstalled succesfully and then try installing PSE9.
