Workspace Presets from CS2

Hello all,
Is there a way to bring my CS2 Workspace Presets over to CS3? I copied my 6 presets from "My Documents->Adobe->Premiere Pro->2.0->Presets" over to the "...3.0->Presets" directory (there were a couple xml files there). The copied 2.0 files have a square box icon with a purple banner at the bottom of the icon that said "PRES", which I thought was good news. However when Pr CS3 is loaded my presets aren't there.
Thanks!
Marty

Nope.
The way PPRO3 handles new workspace I think is very poor in comparison to 2.0.

  • FAQ: How do I migrate my saved presets from an earlier version of Photoshop or import/export them?

You now have the option to migrate presets from a previous version, export presets and to save to a directory as a zip file (great for instructors).
Preset Migration migrates your saved presets, not your preferences. The message says "Would you like to migrate presets from the following versions?"  It simply carries on the preset files you have already saved (things like Brush Tips, HDR Toning presets, Curve presets, Styles etc.)  to CS6.
HOW TO USE PHOTOSHOP CS6 AUTOMATED PRESET MIGRATION
Photoshop CS6 offers the great new functionality of automated preset migration for your custom presets from Photoshop versions as far back as CS3.
When Photoshop CS6 launches for the first time, it checks for previous installations of Photoshop on the computer to see if there are custom presets that need to be migrated. Photoshop looks in each of these presets folders for your saved custom preset files that it can migrate.
Preset migration script copies all the files in user preset folders of older versions. If there are more than one preset files with the same name, presets from the newer version will be given priority. These types of presets will be migrated by the script:
3DLUTs, Actions, Black and White, Brushes, Channel Mixer, Color Books, Color Swatches, Contours, Curves, Custom Shapes, Deco, Duotones, Exposure, Flash 3D, Gradients, HDR Toning, Hue and Saturation, Levels, Lighting Effects, Lights, Materials, Meshes, Optimized Colors, Optimized Output Settings, Optimized Settings, Patterns, Render Settings, Repousse, Scripts, Styles, Tools, Video, Volumes, Widgets, Zoomify, and Workspaces
If this is not your first launch and you would like Photoshop to look for presets,
Choose Edit > Presets > Migrate Presets
When Photoshop notices that you have custom presets saved in their appropriate folders it will give the message "Would you like to migrate presets from the following versions?"
Choose Yes. Photoshop will begin the preset migration script.
When the migration has completed Photoshop will pop up another message saying:
"Preset files from older versions successfully migrated"
In order to use your newly migrated presets, you must restart Photoshop.
If you had Photoshop CS6 beta installed and have saved custom presets, you will need to export those presets before uninstalling the previous version and installing the release version of Photoshop CS6.
    HOW TO SAVE PRESETS
For PS, check that you have saved all your presets using:
Edit>Preset Manager... (in previous versions) Edit>Presets>Preset Manager... (in CS6)
HOW TO IMPORT AND EXPORT PRESETS
    In the main PS menu,
    Choose Edit > Presets > Export/Import Presets
In this dialog you can export the presets and then import them when you load the new version using the same Export/Import dialog.
If you have gone through the automated preset migration and notice that some of your presets didn't get migrated with the rest, make sure you have exported your presets to their default folders.
    PRESET FILE LOCATIONS:
(Note that there are two different folder locations for presets, one for application provided default presets, and one for user created preset files)
These are the presets that are unique to each user on the computer. These can be migrated automatically: (this is the location that the user should save their personal presets in)
    Windows:  Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets
    Mac:  Users/[Username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets
These are the default presets that ship with Photoshop.  These presets can be imported but will not copy over using the migrate feature because each version of Photoshop will install defaults for that version.

Do you have an  iPhoto Library from the old machine? If you have then simply open it - there's no importing involved.
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
If you don't have an actual library there is no way to do what you want.

  • Use Preferences from CS2 in CS4?

    I have deleted CS2 and installed CS4.
How can I use my preferences from CS2?  I hate the thought of trying to reconstruct my actions, function keys, menu colors, etc.

First of all, regrettably there is no adobe warning other than here and in various obscure Tech notes about the advisability of saving the panoply of brushes, actions, plug-ins and preferences that many users accumulate during their use of Photoshop. It seems you have to learn by bitter experience.
Third party plug-ins should always be kept in a separate folder, identified in preferences. Actions and brushes should be saved in sets and backed up along with any styles, presets, and such like.
The whole folder containing a "good"set of preferences should also be backed up.
All this makes life easier if you have to re-install or, as in your case, upgrade.  The only help adobe gives is a warning during the uninstall process about shared files.
Regarding your questions, if you saved any of the above, they may be still on disk or on your image backup, and can be loaded into the new version. However I am pretty sure most of the preferences (psp files) will not be applicable to CS4 anyway.
Re-installing CS2 will obviously not bring back your personal items (although you will need the disk for the upgrade).
Rebuilding preferences from the edit menu in a new version only takes a few minutes and is essential in CS4 owing to the many changes. Also, even if you manage to locate and reload the other things mentioned, be prepared to find a lot won't work.
Sorry for the long answer – I hope some of it helps!

  • How do I change the folder that Photoshop gets my presets from?

First and foremost, I'm using Photoshop CS6, and I'm running Windows 7. I have a boatload of presets (brushes, styles, custom shapes, et cetera). I'm currently running Photoshop from a second, internal hard drive which has more space. Currently, Photoshop gets my presets from C:/Users/[nameredacted]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets. But all of the presets I've acquired are in E:/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets. I need Photoshop to point there.
How do I do that? Thank you in advance!

Get a bigger hard drive.  They're laughably cheap these days.
Whatever you do, don't point Photoshop to a secondary or additional plug-ins/presets folder. Ever since CS6 was released that can totally cripple Photoshop; just do a forum search.

  • Upgrade install problem Photoshop CS5 from CS2, MacOS 10.6.8

    Hello,
My wife was using Adobe Photoshop CS2 for a long time.  We purchased a Photoshop CS5 upgrade in 2010 through Amazon, but she never installed it after reading about problems other people had with the upgrade.  It was still in its shrink wrap seal until last night.
Then she recently went to upgrade her Mac laptop to 10.9 Mavericks from 10.6 Snow Leopard, and discovered that Photoshop CS2 will no longer work since CS2 was a PowerPC application.  No problem - we thought we'd just finally install that CS5 upgrade first.  The Amazon web page where we bought the product stated that this was a valid upgrade path, so we thought we would not have a problem.  However, when we went to do the install, we received an "Inconsistency in the installer database" error.
Going to the support live chat, we were told by Yaseer that we could no longer upgrade from CS2 to CS5 because the CS2 "server" was shut down, and we should go to the forums for help with this instead.
Now what?  We own a legal copy of PS CS2, and bought a legal upgrade copy of PS CS5 with the understanding that this was a legal upgrade path, purchased from a reputable dealer (Amazon), but now it doesn't work.  There must be something that can be done here.
I'm not using my wife's Adobe id which she used to register her product, but I can provide that id as well as the serial numbers for CS2 and the CS5 upgrade.

    run the cleaner, http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
    restart your computer
    then try to install cs5.
if you're prompted for a cs2 serial number and your cs2 number fails, use the one linked from this page:  http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.htm l

  • Problems using Animation Presets from Bridge

    Dear all,
Using the CC range, and recently had a new problem using the animation presets from Adobe Bridge. I'm in After Effects as normal, and then go to the Animations drop down, click browse recent presets to open up Bridge, and then as normal use Bridge to select the preset I want. Double click it whilst highlighting my selected track in AE, and then AE reports this:
And the same error codes no matter what effect/animation I choose, whether its to an image, video or text.
If I just go, in AE, to my Recent Animation Presets, and choose one from there it loads up absolutely fine. But this is massively annoying.  Any ideas? This problem appeared out of nowhere.

This is fixed in the After Effects 2014.2 (13.2) update, which is now available.

  • Is it possible to export brush presets from Lightroom 4?

    Hello all,
Is it possible to export brush presets from Lightroom 4?  I created custom brush presets on my laptop and I would like to export them and import them onto my desktop if at all possible.  Did a bit of research online and could only find this link which only applies to 'Presets' in general, http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WS2A36C507-E076-4b14-AAC3-87852595D175.html.  Please let me know if this is possible or not as this would be a great time saver.
    Thank you!
    -photorobot2010

Brush Presets are stored in the "Local Adjustment Presets" sub-folder within the Lightroom settings folder structure. The location of the latter varies by Operating System, or if you have "Store Presets with Catalog" checked in your Lightroom Preferences (Presets Tab)....easiest way to locate them is go to that Presets Tab on the Preferences dialog and click on "Show Lightroom Presets Folder"....that will open a Finder/Explorter window with the Lightroom folder showing. Open that folder, find the Local Adjustment Presets sub-folder and copy the brush preset .lrtemplate files to your desktop. Repeat the process on the desktop to locate the Local Adjustment Presets sub-folder, then simply copy the brush presets into it. They should then show up in Lightroom on the desktop (you may need to restart Lightroom first).

  • IDCS3 WinXP SP2 - Third Party Plug-in from CS2 to CS3

I've upgraded to CS3 with no problems - except for trouble with a third party plug-in. We installed SBREFX.pln, a cross reference plug-in, in our CS2. While many of our CS2 documents don't actually use this plug-in, it was installed when those documents were created.
When opening these docs in CS3, an error message appears stating that the plug-in is not found. (There is no CS3 version of this plug-in, not do we really need it anymore.) While we can bypass the error message, we cannot "package" the CS3 publication for service provider as long as the plug-in is not installed.
The only work-around we've found is to start a new doc in CS3, load the para styles, swatches, master pages, etc from the old CS2 file and copy and paste all the pages from CS2 version to new CS3 doc. VERY time consuming.
We've also tried opening the document in CS2 and managing the plug-ins. But we cannot find a way to turn off, or disable, this cross reference plug-in in CS2. Our thought was to be able to disable it, save the CS2 file, then open that with CS3, hopefully with no plug-in errors.
I appreciate any help anyone can provide.
    DH

    Bob,
Could Dawne have solved this by inx round tripping in CS2 and then opening the new cleansed CS2 file in CS3?
As I understand it, the fix works because inx does not support the plug-in references. So it should work as well in CS2. Is that correct?
    Thanks,
    Al

  • Upgrade from CS2 to CS3? (for Windows XP)

Hi, guys. I'm new here. And I only signed up for the forums so I could ask someone for help!! Haha! So, here goes......
I recently started using Adobe CS2.
I signed up for the 30 day trial of RadLab by Totally Rad. It worked fine, but my trial expired before I could finish the photos I had been editing. So I uninstalled the RadLab trial, signed up for a new trial with a different e-mail address, and re-installed it. Only, this time, RadLab wouldn't work. So I contacted Totally Rad and the guy told me that RadLab won't work on CS2. It has to be CS3 or higher. (I'm still confused as to how RadLab worked for 30 days on my CS2 if it supposedly only works on CS3 or higher)...
So, now, I am looking to upgrade from CS2 to CS3... but I don't know where to look. I tried Google, but nothing seems to match what I'm looking for. I would hate to upgrade all the way up to CS5, because I don't think my PC could handle it. (I've been told that CS5 takes up a lot of room, and I don't think my computer is strong enough to hold it all. My memory capabilities are very limited. Even with CS2, I couldn't open/edit much all at once.)
I say all that, to ask this...
How do I go about upgrading from CS2 to CS3, and it not cost me an arm and a leg? I'm on a super-tight budget ($150 is the absolute highest I'm willing to go). I'm unemployed and money is extremely tight.
Thank you in advance for your help!!

I don't want to burst your bubble about using Photoshop CS3, but I would expect any software with good trialware security to not work twice on the same system no matter whether you sign up with a different eMail address.  They'd be stupid not to have it work that way.
If you need the software to get your project done, why not actually buy it?
You're no doubt expecting to derive value from your project...  Shouldn't the people who worked to create the software you're using derive some value from their work as well?
I can appreciate your being on a budget, but the old saying "if you want to play you have to pay" comes to mind.  I'm sorry to be blunt.

  • NEED HELP! - Installing Camera raw presets from USB Stick

NEED HELP! -installing Camera raw presets from USB Stick.
I am attempting to install the Camera Raw Presets.
It says to put them into User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings...
When I get to CameraRaw the ONLY folders in there are CameraProfiles & Lens Profiles.
I have searched everywhere looking for a CameraRaw-Settings folder and cannot find one.
I have latest version of CameraRaw installed and still no settings folder.
I even attempted to find it by looking in camera raw where it has saved the custom settings I made as presets and it shows that they are saved but will not show me where.
I am using CS5 specifically Photoshop v12.0.4 and Bridge. I have Lightroom 4. I have iMac OS  10.7.3
Do I need to reinstall Camera Raw and how do you do that?
Will I then lose my presets that I made in CameraRaw?
    Thanks for your help

    Perhaps this answers question.
    Frequently Asked Questions
Why is it no longer required to place the plug-in file in the specified directory on my hard drive?
The Camera Raw update process has grown to include lens profile and camera profile files which are easiest to install via a single installer process instead of updating several different directories manually.

  • Format issue with transfer from Cs2 to Cs5.5

I transferred my InDesign files from CS2 to a new computer with CS5.5 and the formatting is all off when attempting to print. All the print settings appear to be the same on both computers but the image in Cs5.5 is way over to the left and top side of the paper. Yikes! Any suggestions?

Are you referring to a selection on the printer or on the InDesign page? Not clear. Thanks.

  • From cs2 to cs5 and i'm stuck already!

    Hi,
just loaded my brand new photoshop cs5 extended, a big jump from cs2, and i'm stuck!
I create a new page to build a design on, i open an image and it replaces the page, i open a different image and it replaces the last image. if i delete the last image every file goes. what has changed from cs2 to cs5 that wont allow me to build a project?

Maybe you can still find the Help-pdfs for CS3 and CS4 online and check out their respective »What’s New«-sections to get a more or less full list of the changes.

  • Adobe Jensen Pro from CS2 to CS5

In Indesign CS2 one of the fonts was Adobe Jensen Pro, which I liked. Now in CS5 it seems not to be one of the Adobe fonts provided by the software. Can one transfer the font Adobe Jensen Pro from CS2 (running in a Windows machine) to CS5 (running on a Mac)? And if so, how?
    Many thanks for any help

Many thanks for all the answers.
When I first saw Peter Spier's answer, I thought that everything would be easy (I only needed to learn how to copy and install the font, which I still don't know how to do...). But it seems that there are licensing issues here, and I don't want to do anything ilegal!
Let's see if I can add a bit more information. First, I have paid for the licenses for both versions, they are legally mine. I upgraded form CS2 (Windows XP version) to CS5 (Mac version). And I am running Windows XP (where Indesign CS2 is loaded) on the same  iMac that has Indesign CS5 on (I use Boot Camp to do that). Because it is BootCamp, I can only use one of the Indesign versions at a time. So the two licensed versions of Indesign are in the same computer, albeit under different operating systems. How does that affect the license issues?
    Many thanks again
