Workspace SmartView install

I'm try to enable the Tools->Install->SmartView link in workspace for deploying SmartView to many users.
I have checked the path for SmartView.exe and SmartViewVersions.xml and they both exist in the workspace/SmartView folder structure.
When I click on the link I get file not found web error 404.
We are running WebSphere, do I need to do something else to make this work?

On the other hand, we don't want users to install Smartview under "Tool/Install" of Hyperion Workspace. Can we disable this option in the main menu?

Import Log shows Incompatible version of Workspace Manager Installed

Hi,
I did an export of my DB using oracle 10.2.0.3 in Windows 2003 R2, I am trying to import the DB in Oracle 10.2.0.4 on Windows 2008 Server.
Question 1
I am getting the following error message
IMP-00003: ORACLE error 20000 encountered
ORA-20000: Incompatible version of Workspace Manager Installed
Is it safe to continue the import? Do I need to do any post import configuration to solve the above error message.
Question 2
I have few notes in the log which states, is it because of the above error message or can I ignore these notes
Note: table contains ROWID column, values may be obsolete 0 rows imported

Smartview install/ uninstall

Hi gurus,
I tried to uninstall Smartview for Office here at work but I'm getting an error message where it's looking for the Smartview.msi file. And if I point it to that file it's still erring out. I can install it too even to a new location. Has anyone ever experienced this? We have the following:
- Smartview 7.2.1.2
- Excel 2003 SP2
- Window XP SP2
I really appreciate whatever help anyone can give.

Can you install it to the current location, then uninstall it?
Did the user initially install SmartView, or did a help desk or another user?
Does the user have admin rights on the pc?
Does the person who installed the add-in have admin rights?
We have not had this exact issue, but have struggled with admins installing SmartView on user pcs in the wrong location. SmartView is not listed in add/remove programs when installed by an admin user and viewed by another non-admin. It seems we can re-install/uninstall/re-re-install to fix. Sometimes when it's really messy, I'll just delete the SmartView files manually as well as the references to it in the registry.

Install smart view link not working from workspace 11.1.2

Hi all,
I have a client who cannot install SmartView from the link in workspace (tool > install > smart view). A window briefly appears but then nothing happens. I had successfully installed smart view this way in 11.1.2. and it works in 11.1.2.1.
Any ideas?

If it is IE then you could try going to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level >
Under Downloads
Automatic prompting for file downloads - enable
File download - enable

EPM 11.1.2.0 and Smartview 11.1.2.1

We currently use Office 2003 and 2007 with EPM 11.1.2.0. Our IT is going to be rolling Office 2010, we have been told that we need Smartview 11.1.2.1. We currently have no plans to upgrade EPM 11.1.2.1.
The question what is the best way to rollout Smartview 11.1.2.1 to my current users?
Can we update the link in workspace (Tools->Install->SmartView) to have the 11.1.2.1 instead of 11.1.2.0 ?
Would this change violate some software agreement?

We are currently using 11.1.2 EPM , I have downloaded the 11.1.2.1 Hyperion SmartView and installed the same to utilize the new features specially displaying the Member Names and Alias both Adhoc analysis , after upgrading to new version 11.1.2.1 I am able to see some changes in look and feel of the Smartview options but still there is no option for members display . Could you please let me know do we need to upgrate some other application also for using 11.1.2.1?

Smartview 11.1.2 and Stand Alone Essbase

I am migrating some applications for a client and they are interested in using Smartview 11.1.2.
Currently, they are using the add in with their 9.2 environment and I just migrated all their apps to essbase 11.1.2 which is pretty slick. I installed the add in for 11.1.2 and that is working fine.
However, I know there is an interest in going to planning so they wanted to set up smart view as well. They don't use shared services but use native security in essbase. So when I am trying to establish the URL connection in Smartview 11.1.2 I am not able to connect to the shared service provider. These are the URL's i tried with both a shared and a private connection to attempt to connect to stand alone essbase in smartview 11.1.2:
http:server:13080/aps/APS
http:server:13080/aps/smartview
http:server:19000/workspace/SmartViewProviders
I didn't think the workspace URL would work since they aren't using worksapce. Any ideas on how to connect to stand alone, no shared service essbase for smartview using 11.1.2?

In private connections type http:server:13080/aps/SmartView. The url is case sensitive you had http:server:13080/aps/smartview.
While on the topic, two points that I would like to mention:
1- I don't believe Essbase 11.1.2 still has native security but I will have to confirm.
2- Workspace gets installed by default in 11.1.2 and http:server:19000/workspace/SmartViewProviders is the right url to use for shared connections.

Im using hyperion 11.1.2.1 with SmartView installed with Office 2007. A lot of forms are working fine on it but we have entered data recently on a number of them and we are unable to open them in SmartView either through the icon and menu options in workspace or through the smartview panel in excel 2007. The error we are getting is "XML Load Error: An invalid character was found in text content."

Smartview: Excel 2007 and 9.3.0.1

Is there a version of Smartview for 9.3.0.1 that works with Excel 2007?
If so where I can get it? And are there any known issues with it?

I have a problem with Excel 2007. With Smartview installed, I cannot "save" or "save as" a new file. When I try to save, the save/save as diaglogue box does not show the folders, the file name box nor the save as type box. Any suggestions?

Installing OWB R2 on Windows Vista

Hi, I am installing OWB Release 2 on Windows Vista Home edition. I already installed Oracle 10g R2. I am using Repository Assistant. While I press Finish button on Repository Assistant - Summary page I am getting the following errors :
" warehouse builder workspace
owner install failed on user owbsys
java.lang.Exception(Runtimeinstall)
connect is null "
User for workspace owner is : owb09. I also grant owb_user, dba, connect, resource to user owb09. I am able to connect with this user. Please let me know if there is any solution.

I am facing similar issue when trying to logon to bpm workspace (http://localhost:7001/bpm/workspace) after installing BPM & SOA Suite 11.1.1.4 Developers (single JVM install of AdminServer only).
Steps I followed are-
1.     Database is XE, I have set an environment variable to TRUE as suggested on download instructions page
2.     Install SOA suite 11.1.1.4 by choosing the options for BPM for developers
3.     When logging to WLS and em console with “weblogic” user, it works fine.
4.     On the em console, I have checked and verified the “BPMWorkspaceAdmin” role exists and weblogic user is a added to the role
5.     However using “weblogic” user, I can not login to bpm workspace (http:// localhost:7001/bpm/workspace). The server log shows-

SSAS loses connection to local workspace

I seem to be running into this quite regularly these days. I'm editing an SSAS tabular model, filtering data in the views in VS 2012 to verify that calculations are working, and I get this:
The result is that any work you've done since you last saved is lost, because you won't be able to save. It's really getting quite frustrating.
I did find a post online that went over how you could recover your work from your local workspace SSAS install by reverse engineering/scripting the cube out of it, but that's really not an option in my case since I'm using source control and can't dump my
project history every time this happens (and it happens multiple times a day now).
Does anyone know of a workaround for this issue before I open a support incident? Thanks.
Edit: Seems that screenshots don't get persisted to the messages in MSDN forums anymore. Here's the text of what would have been in the screenshot:
"cannot complete the operation because there is no connection to the workspace database that contains the model currently being edited"
Specific steps to re-create. Filter any column in the tabular designer, and when you go to clear the filter if you hit clear before the list of available values populates in the box below, it'll lose connection to the workspace server, and everything will
be lost. Any attempt to save will result in:
"Unable to save the file Model.bim. Reason: The file cannot be saved because it is marked as readonly"
Some posted elsewhere about getting past this issue by un-setting the Model.bim file as read-only, or unsetting the entire project directory and it's contents as read-only, but that has not worked on any workstation I have ran into this problem with.
I suspect this is only one of several ways to cause the issue - I know about this one, I try and avoid it, and I still run into problems occasionally.

According to your decsription, you can't save the bim file and it throw the above error. Right?
In Analysis Services Tabular mode, this error occurs if the tabular designer has lost the connection to the workspace database server at some point during the editing session. However, there is a way to recover the work you did since the last save of the
