Workstation removal not working

Hello,
I recenlty noticed that the workstation removal policy does not seem to be working. I see the removal screen on the server, have it set to remove after 14 days, but on this particular Zen server (I have several) the remove isn't working. I didn't realize this until I just did a data export. Workstation object that were under long-deleted OUs are still being exported. But, when I search eDir for the objects, I cannot find them.
So is this a removal policy issue or a Zen database issue not doing the purge. Suggestions for remediation?
Thanks
Tom

  • @REMOVE not working

    Hello,
    I want to load data into one Account in USD, rather than Local.
    To achieve that, I loaded data in USD currency and thought of changing the Currency Conversion script where I would exclude that one account from DATACOPY and then conversion part. I tried @REMOVE(@LEVMBRS("Account",0),"xxxxx"), @REMOVE(@RELATIVE("All Accounts",0),"xxxxx"), @REMOVE(@DECENDANTS("All Accounts"),"xxxxx"), but no matter what I tried it is still taking that one account into calculation. I even tried pulling that one member in @LIST function but still it did not work.
    Am I missing something? The funny part is, another @REMOVE is already being used in the script where rates are being copied.
    Can anyone please suggest any solutions? I have already got the script to working but really want to know why is @REMOVE not working.
    Thanks!

    but what if further changes come in outline where as in UDA script will be same just need to tag UDA to members^^^So you've got four choices:
    1) Change the members in code
    2) Update metadata aka UDAs in outline
    3) Create a shared member parent and go after the children/descendants. This is a metadata approach as well but from the hierarchy side.
    4) Update metadata but this time in the form of attributes instead of UDAs. I use this in Planning apps all the time as it gives me a way to filter on a form if I want to. Without Planning, I would go with UDAs as they seem to be lower impact.
    I personally would do it with UDAs but would keep in mind lots of UDAs = a pain to maintain.

    P.S. I am patiently waiting for MMIC, GlennS, to give you a fifth, sixth, and seventh way of doing this. :)

  • Red Eye Removal not working properly

    I'm having a problem with the red eye tool. I've done a search of this problem which returned no results.
    I have three similar photographs, i.e, taken a few seconds a part at a wedding ceremony. I've corrected the red eye problem on the first file. However, the red eye "dots" REMAIN when I switch to the next files. If I select the red eye tool, I even get the location ovals overlaying the new picture.
    Bug?

    How about Evil Eye? 8-}
    Actually I've had the same problem with Red Eye Removal not working properly. Problem is intermittent and the eye was for sure red.

  • Red Eye Removal not working

    I am using 1.3.1 and started out using the original version of lightroom that was released. I have really enjoyed lightroom. However, the red eye removal tool which worked when I started using lightroom is no longer working. I am having to pull all red eye corrections into "Elements" and that is annoying. When I select the red eye tool and click on the red eye all I get is a beep. I have tried clicking and dragging to select the exact size and that does not work either, just a beep. Does anyone have an answer to my problem?

    the server AWI policy defined (Politica_Import_Remove_CCRTV) says to put the newly created workstation into the user container, that's why uses the user to locate the destination container.
    What I've been observing is that the process to automatically create the workstation runs before the user writes his login/password (I suppose the process is initiated by the Workstation Manager), so no username is still defined !!!! (as you can see in the log file, in the line under "Version=zfd4", "username=")
    Why the Workstation Manager launches the process in the AWI server BEFORE the user logins??????
    Some week ago, once the user got logged, without automatically creating the workstation object, if we run "zwsreg", then the workstation was rightly created. That's was our salvation. Unfortunately, now even this method is not working ...
    I had the intuition (now discarded) that the error was in the ZDM 6.5SP2 AWI server; so I've installed a new ZDM 7SP1 server, and a new AWI policy. But the results were the same. With a ZDM 6.5sp2 agent in the workstation, or a ZDM 7sp1 agent. It doesnt matter.
    So it seems the problem is on the eDir 8.7.3 tree, or maybe on the workstation, but haven't done any important changes in both elements before the problem appeared.
    Another thing I've noted is that the login count doesn't get incremented !!!!
    I've followed the TID 10056909 "Automatic Workstation Import/Removal Errors and Suggested Remedies", and the TID 10074993 "Unable to import workstations to User's Container"; the version of the ZENPOL32.DLL is 08/09/2005 ... I've re-created several times the AWI policy.
    Any idea ????

    it launches during boot, after the user logged in, when the user logs out,
    when you shutdown the wks and when you run zwsreg..
    check if you have the correct treename

  • Workstation Bridge not working when Updating from 10041 to 10049

    I am using Workstation 11 on a Windows 8.1 Host
    All works well including Bridge network connections
    I loaded Windows tech Preview 10 version (before 10041)
    All worked apart from the Bridged network connections when using VMware workstation 11
    Then there was an update to 10041 and the bridged connection started to work but you could not access the physical network card on the host...some error
    Then somewhere the new update version was installed on my machine to version 10049
    Now I cannot configure bridge mode in my VMware workstation 11 it tells me there sre no un bridged host insdtsalled and when I look at the physical network card there are no protocols installed.
    Looks like I will have to go back to windows 8.1 pity
    When one thing is fixed another is broken

    I too has the same issue and I apprently tried to revert to 10041 from 10049 and it did not work.
    But I tried to these and it worked for me. I stopped all the VM's and in vmware networking removed all the adapters.
    Then tried to run the vmware 11 (latest) setup again and when it asked to install I choose repair and it did repaired and reinstalled the networking and after that I tried to create new virtual adapter and it worked and vm can able to browse internet.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 DNS Entry Auto remove not working

    Dear All,
    I have configured DNS Ageing for 30 days removal of unwanted host entry.but it will not work.
    Active directory DNS having all unwanted host in forward lookup zone and as well as reverse lookup zone.
    how to solve this ?
    pls help
    Sunil
    SUNIL PATEL SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

    Hi,
    This is a rather common problem when configuring Scavenging and Aging of stale DNS entries.  This has to be set in two spots, not just one as so many admins have difficulties with.  It isn't very obvious.
    Aging and Scavenging must be set on both the DNS Server and on the Zone
    that you want to clean.  In addition, DNS needs to be Active Directory integrated and resource records need to be dynamically registered.  Static entries are ignorned.
    First step:
    To set aging and scavenging properties for the DNS Zones using the Windows interface
    Open DNS Manager.
    In the console tree, right-click the applicable DNS server, and then click
    Set Aging/Scavenging for all zones.
    Select the Scavenge stale resource records check box.
    Modify other aging and scavenging properties as needed.
    Second Step:
    To set aging and scavenging properties for the DNS Server using the Windows interface
    Open DNS Manager.
    In the console tree, right-click the applicable DNS server, and then click
    Properties.
    Select the Advanced tab,and then enable Enable automatic scavenging of stale records
    check box. Once done, specify the Scavenging period (That is recurring
    interval for Scavenging on a DNS server)  and click on OK
    That will do it.  Your DNS entries will then start auto scavenging based on the times you have determined. Word of caution - do not set your aging too aggressively - I have seen where an admin had set aging down to 1 day and when it finally kicked
    off, nearly brought the company to a halt.

  • Spot Removal not Working

    I just bought lightroom 5 and the spot removal is not working on my Windows 7.  Is this a bug?

    Thanks for the response, Rikk.  I set it to a smaller amount and it worked better, Does that mean I can only use it at a 100%?  Makes it difficult for smaller items.

  • Automatic Workstation Inventory not working

    Hello there,
    we have a NW5.1 SP6 Server with ZFD3.0 Sp1 on it...
    for what circumstances ever the inventory is not working anymore...
    I see the task in workstation manager (scheduler), but nothing happens
    on the server.. (the workstations are running NT4.0 SP6a)
    All 4 java-tasks are running on the server...
    When I do a manual scan (ntscan32.exe) from my WS, it is working...and
    invertory is running... the same at a colleagues PC (we both with
    admin-rights)..
    Trying the same from a normal users workstation... nothing happend...
    ??? What is wrong?? we never changed rights or something else at this
    server or the ZEN-Installation.. HELP! ;)) Wo has an idea??
    Thank you in advance :)
    Ralf

    Hi Charles and Jared :)
    Thank you for the answers, it took me a time to look back here because
    I
    was going mad with that problem *grin*
    Meanwhile... I found the reason!
    But before I tell you let me answer your tips:
    Jared mentioned the zenerrors.log file, but the Problem is: I do not
    have that file on my NT4.0 Workstation! ?? I still dont have it...On Lindas PC (my colleague),a Win2000 Workstation, she has the file!
    And there we saw the error "036 unable to access SCANDIR directory", what helped us out to find more TiDs ;)
    And,yes, after the manual scan, the inventory information was sent to
    the server, yes.
    And after looking, asking others, searching and so on Ive got a tip from a friend and consulter:Make the Root of the Tree a trustee of the
    scandir folder... Hm... never thought about that... it worked from
    the beginning and suddenly it stopped..why should these rights be
    gone??
    Fact is: after doing this... next morning Invertory was working
    again!! :)
    Please dont ask me why these rights were gone.. I have no clue!!
    I am only a dumb CNE *g* ;)
    Thanks for your help and please excuse my english, I am German ;)
    Greetings, Ralf :)

  • Macro error with BI Publisher Add-In: exd removal not working

    I'm running into the 'macro not found' error as of today with the Oracle BI publisher desktop add-in for Word. Using Word 2007...everything worked fine yesterday, computer did an update overnight.
    I tried the old methods of closing Word, locating .exd files on my hard drive, renaming them, and then restarting Word. Still running into the same issues. Has anyone else started to experience this today?
    exd files are being generated after the above process to AppData\Local\temp\vbe (2 files: MSComctLib.exd and MSForms.exd)

    Hi I was also running with exact problem, and running on this issue for 1.5 days with all regular work around.
    However below steps resolved my issue.
    1. Uninstalled the old version of BI.
    2. Taken latest version Oracle BI Publisher Desktop via OTN (http://otn.oracle.com/ ) which is 11.1.1.6 [ I took 32 bit version as my MS Word  is 32 bit version].
    3. Renamed the *.EXD %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp\VBE as *.EXD_OLD
    4. Installed the latest version of BI Publisher Desktop, in admin mode.
    With out any other work around its working.
    Thanks!

  • Preview: Alpha Select (background removal) - not working for me

    The help says "choose Instant Alpha from the Select pop-up menu"
    I see Select in the toolbar with a pulldown arrow, but clicking it does nothing. The only select I have on the previewed image is a scalable box...
    I'm stumped, I can't seem to find out how to get the background removal working in the new Preview.

    Click the button for a short while, a drop-down list should appear. Select the Magic Wand Icon and your Pointer should change to crosshairs. Click and drag to control the colour-difference to be converted to Alpha.
    Once you have selected all the sections you want to convert, press Return or Enter; Voila!

  • Xerox 7328 workstation printer not working in Arch x86_64

    Hi
    I've converted from Ubuntu to Arch.  My Xerox 7328 was working in ubuntu jaunty 9.04 perfectly with a special ppd file given to us by Xeorox.  In Arch, the printer just spews out blank paper.  I have tried downgrading cups to 1.3.9 as per what Jaunty used but the only difference is the printer does not spew out as MUCH blank paper!  I don't know where to troubleshoot on this - please could someone provide pointers as to how I can go about solving this?
    Thanks

  • TreeSet contains and remove not working

    I am using a TreeSet in a class that extends AbstractListModel. It seems that the TreeSet.remove() and TreeSet.contains() is not finding the object. If I run the code below, the element is not found (sometimes).
    public boolean removeElement(VariableInfo element){
            boolean removed = model.remove(element);
            if(removed){
                fireContentsChanged(this, 0, getSize());
            return removed;
    }If I run this code, however, the element is found. (The code below will fail if the uncommented line is used.) Any ideas why this is happening? I don't want to use the code below because it requires iterating over all the elements in the list.
    public boolean removeElement(VariableInfo element){
            for(VariableInfo v : model){
                if(v.equals(element)){
                    return model.remove(v);
                    //return model.remove(element); //will also fail if using this line instead of previous one
            return false;
    }

    Sorry for the confusion. The compareTo method in VariableInfo simply calls the compareTo method in VariableName which is wrapped by the Variableinfo object. The two classes below should clarify what I mean. Should I not be calling the compareTo method on VariableName from the VariableInfo class?
    public class VariableInfo implements Comparable<VariableInfo>{
         * Variable name
        private VariableName name = null;
      public VariableInfo(String name, String label, int type, int dataType, int positionInDb, String subscale){
            this.name = new VariableName(name.trim());
            this.label = new VariableLabel(label.trim());
            this.type = new VariableType(type, dataType);
            this.positionInDb = new Integer(positionInDb);
            this.subscale = subscale;
    public int compareTo(VariableInfo o){
            System.out.println("VariableInfo compareTo");
              return this.name.compareTo(o.name);
    @Override
    public boolean equals(Object o){
            System.out.println("VariableInfo equals");
            return (o instanceof VariableInfo) && (this.compareTo((VariableInfo)o)==0);
    public class VariableName implements Comparable<VariableName>{
       @Override
        public boolean equals(Object o){
            System.out.println("VariableName equals");
            return (o instanceof VariableName) && (this.compareTo((VariableName)o)==0);
        public int compareTo(VariableName o){
            System.out.println("VariableName compareTo");
            return this.toString().compareTo(o.toString());
    }

  • @Remove not working on DATAEXPORT

    My data export still has rows for the years in my @Remove.... Any ideas?
    SET DATAEXPORTOPTIONS
    DataExportLevel LEVEL0;

    DataExportNonExistingBlocks OFF;
    DataExportColFormat ON ;
    DataExportOverwriteFile ON ;

    @Remove(@Relative(Measures,0),@List("CAD","JAP","GBP","PO_UNITS","RTL_$"))
    DATAEXPORT "File" "!" "D:\Export.txt" ;
    EndFix

    I'm puzzled by why you're using @REMOVE on the years - sounds like you really just want to FIX on "2012" and "2013".
    That aside, have you tried using a FIX with an inner EXCLUDE block, rather than @REMOVE in the FIX? This may not be relevant, but I noticed that the DATAEXPORT Technical Reference article explicitly recommends EXCLUDE.
    At first I was wondering if you'd accidentally @REMOVEd everything from Years, and you had an EMPTYMEMBERSETS problem, but that could only be true if you don't have members for "2012" or "2013" which seems unlikely!

Maybe you are looking for
