World Clock Widget appears on my Desktop
My world clock widget appears on my desktop. I can't get it off the desktop. It should be apprearing with the rest of the widgets when I call for the widget's screen. I have rebooted my machine...still there. I went into the widget's window tried to X it and I can't.
Help...
Thanks, =bill
Glad it worked.
By default widgets do not work on the desktop. Some utilities allow you to do that, alternatively Terminal voodoo can be used.
*defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES*
Turns widget on desktop on,
*defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode NO*
off.

I noticed that the cooling fan on my PB G4 was running more or less continuously and that the case was very hot. This is quite unusual. I opened Actifvity Monitor and found that my CPU was at 85% activity while the computer was idle. I traced it to the World Clock widget in the Processes window, and solved the problem by deleting the Clock. The CPU dropped to 12% instantly and the problem has not recurred.
Hello Edub87
Welcome to Apple Discussions
The World Clock widget should display the same time as the iMac.
Go to: *Apple > System Preferences > Date & Time*
1. Select the *Date & Time* tab > check the box for *Set date & time automatically* > make sure that *Apple Americas/U.S. (time.apple.com)* is chosen.
2. Then before closing the Preference panel for *Date & Time* > select the *Time Zone* tab and make sure that *Los Angeles - U.S.A.* is selected.
Now check your World Clock widget?

World Clock widget in Dashboard - missing hands
Prior to Daylight Saving Time (South Australia) all clock hands [hour, minute etc.] on the world clock widget in the Dashboard were visible.
However, the day after the introduction of Daylight Saving Time the clock hands had gone. I've heard of people who believe that curtains fade due to DST, but clock hands? :-)))
I downloaded another world clock ('Stationsklok') but that was also minus the clock hands. The same was done with a digital clock widget ('Flip Clock') and the numerals were missing.
I removed the original world clock and replaced it with another - no luck. Trashing the world clock plist files has not brought any luck either.
Can anyone suggest anything else that I can try?

Cannot add/remove clocks in Notification Center's World Clock widget.
I was trying to reverse-engineer the somewhat cryptic white/black clock face in the new World Clock widget in Yosemite's Notification Center. (It turns out that is the clock face color is white when the time is in the range 06:00 to 18:00, and black when the time is 18:00 to 06:00.) While doing this, I added new time zones by adding new clocks. After adding the eigth clock, however, I lost the ability to add or remove clocks, so now I'm stuck at eight.
I looked around ~/Library/Preferences, but could only find com.apple.notificationcenterui.plist, which governs the placement of the widgets, not their actual configuration. Seems like a bug I'll have to live with for now.
Would love to hear about a way to patch this bug (configuration file somewhere), or work around it through other means.Oif. I just discovered that the ⓘ icon in the upper right is actually a configuration icon, and not an information icon. You need to hit that to enable the add/remove buttons for changing the selection of cities.

Issues with World Clock widget in Notification Center
The widget is inconsistent when showing the correct time for foreign locations. Right now it's showing the time in Perth as 5pm when it's actually 5am. The times in London and Paris are correct. Is anyone else having this issue?
I don't even see AM or PM in the World Clock -- only an analog 12-hour dial. It's not adequate. A world clock ought to display either AM/PM or 24-hour time (should be a configurable preference) and also the date.

Hacking: Dashboard and World Clock widget
The "World Clock" seems to be a misnomer for the lack of cities/timezones it has. In the past, I have hacked the clock, under 10.4, following the directions: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050430193250534 I try to do the same in 10.6.1, but when I open WorldClock.js, I notice there's a new field "id". From the head of the file, it looks like some sort of "geoID". Anyone know what this number represents? Where to find others?
Figured it out - it's a standardized Geoname: www.geonames.org

Widget world clock shows incorrect time
widget world clock shows incorrect time.. how can i fix this?
There are two possibilities: (1) your computer's time is wrong. Open System Preferences, select the Date & Time tab, and either set the time manually or select a time server. If you choose the time server click on the Time Zone tab and choose your correct time zone. (2) click on the i on the World Clock widget and select a city near you (that's in the same time zone as yours.)

Widgets world clock can't change country when I update to Mountain Lion
Hello everyone,
When I update to Mountain Lion (from Lion), the widgets world clock can't change other country (the clock can't show the information button).
Is this a bug ? Do you have the same problem ?
My mac is Macbook Pro (2011 Later)
ThanksI had the same problem. It looks I was able to fix this using the steps below:
1. Make sure you have a current backup, such as a Time Machine backup!
2. Go into Dashboard and close the World Clock widget(s).
3. Rename or trash the file:
~/Library/Preferences/widget-com.apple.widget.worldclock.plist
I'm not sure if it's needed but I also deleted:
~/Library/Preferences/widget-com.apple.widget.worldclock.plist.lockfile
4. Open Terminal and type the following command (case-sensitive): killall Dock
See if that works. -
Hi there,
I'm not sure what happened but my Dashboard World Clock doesn't work anymore. I had taken it off my dashboard along with other widgets when I was trying to speed up my computer. I then added the same widgets back to the dashboard except the World Clock no longer showed up in the widgets list. The other widgets were all fine.
I can see the World Clock widget file in my widgets folder in Library but it won't show up anywhere on the dashboard so I'd like to download a new file to see if that helps.
Thanks! There are multiple world clock dashboard widgets available.
See if you can find the one for the image you posted > Apple - Downloads - Dashboard
The glitch may be that the one want has been updated to a newer user interface. -
Hi I am having a problem with the World Clock Widget. When Tiger first came out I downloaded a Wideget the helped manage widgets (before apple took care of this) and I ended up deleting that widget. But sometime when I was using that widget World Clock deleted. Now the widget bar has the default widget sign and nothing happens when I click on the widget. I have looked at the widgets folder and it is listed, but it is the only widget in the list with the name ending in ".wdgt". I thought it was just something I may have moved but I've looked a lot of places and can't find anything that I may have done. I tried to download another version of the World Clock and even after trying to install that widget nothing showed up so I'm assuming that the original World Clock is messing it up. Does anyone out there know how this can be fixed w/o reinstalling Tiger. Thanks for your help.
That's why. AFAIK you cannot download any of the original widgets from your system. You can use Pacifist to extract and install just that widget from your install disks, or you can email me and I'll send you the World Clock widget.

Since ML I can't add any standard world clock widget to my dashboard other than automatically set up to my local time.
Any one wit same issue ?
Any Ideas ?
Jean.I finally called Apple Care.
The solution is to delete the corrupted plist file named "widget-com.apple.widget.worldclock.plist"
in the preferences folder in your user library
Restart the computer, a new file is created and you can make your dashboard clock widget settings as usual.

Hi, I've just bought a Mac Air (OS X 10.8). Does anyone know of any digital world clock widgets for dashboard? I'd like something similar to the digital clock available on my iphone where I can show the time and date of various countries around the world simultaneously.
I've searched for hours and cant find many digital clock widgets at all. Can anyone help?
ThanksThe links don't allow to download anymore, at least not from Firefox and I cannot spend all my times juggling between three web browsers because now web development is becoming browser-targeted. I am just getting a page describing the applications. Links either go to a widget browser or to Apple's page describing the Mac computer. Moreover, the Mac page somehow disables keyboard shortcut for Back in Firefox, which is an additional unnecessary annoyance. I needed a digital clock widget to work around the fact that the time displayed in the upper right corner of the screen is in a too small font for me to read comfortably, and there is no way to enlarge the font. Seems I have to take the plunge and write myself a small application, quite bad that something so basic is not out of the box and download links are always broken or outdated.

Broken Clock Widget in Dashboard
I have this tiny problem i can't seem to shake off;
Since the previous version any world clock widget i add to my dashboard is broken, the pointers are way off and i don't get the info icon in the right bottom. I thought updating to Yosemite might help but no luck, is there anything i can do. Since my partner has an office in NY & LA it was a feature i used daily, and now miss often when planning online meetings.
Kind Regards,OS X 10.10 Yosemite

does anyone noticed that with ne the mountain lion the world clocks widget in the dashboard cannot be set? every one doesn't show the city, am/pm and the most important thing the "i" that allows you to turn it and set it.
Hi TrinityGal3
The only thing I can think of is dat you opened the folder /Library/Preferences while it should be
~/Library/Preferences
(see step 3 in my previous posting) It's important not to forget the ~ sign
