World of Warcraft Lag Spikes [WRT54GS & Comcast]

Okay, when playing World of Warcraft I seem to get these lag spikes every 5-10 minutes (on the lower side of that). They last for upwards of ten seconds and are very pestering. I've done absolutely everything to try to solve this. Set a static IP, foward ports (on my router and McAfee), used Blizzard suggested settings on my network card, and router, updated firmware on the router and drivers on the network card, etc. I have the WRT54GS wireless router (v7.2), and Comcast internet service. I have McAfee Security Center and Webroot Spy Sweeper. I've also ruled out the possibility of a modem problem, as i've gotten it replaced twice. Please help!!!

Access the setup page of the router by launching an
Browser and type on the address bar, 192.168.1.1 and press enter. When
it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field
empty and provide password as "admin" (Without quotes)
click on ok.
On the main setup page the ""Internet Connection Type"" should be
on ""Obtain IP Automatically - DHCP “. Click on the Save Settings
button.
Now click on the sub tab ""MAC address clone"".
- Click on enable
Click Clone & click save settings
Check WAN Ip on Status page of router ....
If getting Valid Ip .... try going online
If not ... power cycle for 4-5 minutes & then again check the WAN Ip address .....

  • Lag Spikes with WRT54G router

I've recently noticed that while playing numerous MMO games (Aion, Champions Online, and World of Warcraft), I've been getting lag spikes for the last few months, at first I thought it was because Aion and Champions were in beta stages, but I kept getting them in World of Warcraft, when I went back.
I bought a new WUSB600N USB adapter, because I built a new system and my old PCI card does not fit, nor does it nativly support vista or Vista 64 (which I am using).  So I am not sure if it is the USB adapter, or my old WRT54G router.  My fiancee is also having the same problem with her wireless G adapter in her laptop, so I bought her the WPC600N adapter and is still getting the same issue.  When I connect via a cable I seem to be okay.
I also have all the correct ports forwarded, for World of Warcraft.
Now my question is, is it because I am trying to game with a wireless connection, or is it because of my router?
I was thinking of buying the WRT160N to see if it will fix the problem.  Is there a better solution?
I am only about 10 feet from my router,  so distance is not an issue.
    System Specs:
    Intel I7 920
    Intel DX58SO motherboard
    6 GB memory
2X BFG GTX275OC (running in SLI)
    Creative X-FI Fata1ity PCI-E
    WUSB600N USB adapter
    WRT54G wireless router.
    any suggestions would be helpful.

Try to adjust the wireless settings on your router...

  • Macbook Pro 13" Early 2011 Lag Spikes

Okay let me just brief you on my Macbook.
In September 2011 i bought a Macbook Pro 13" Early 2011 model, 4GB RAM, 2.7GHz Processor, you can get the rest on the site.
I bought it as a ex-display model, so you can imagine it already has some milage from it.
Through the (almost) 2 years i've had it, apart from the odd overheat shutdown, and a 1 charger replacement, it's been no hassle, even with me constantly shutting it and moving it. It seems that all the issues are coming in bulk.
I generally use the laptop for gaming, mostly World of Warcraft, sometimes Minecraft, and lately Starcraft, and Spellforce on BOOTCAMP or virtual machines.
About 2 weeks ago, the laptop started refusing to charge, i couldn't understand if it was the charger (as i only replaced it a few months earlier and the cable was still in perfect condition) or the port itself in the laptop. I took my laptop to an Apple store, found it was the Magsafe on the cable, replaced it on the spot, but the reason why i'm saying this is i'm wondering why it broke so quickly, and if lack of power has anything to do with it.
I've grown a liking to Spellforce so instead of having to restart into the Windows side of my Mac, i just use the Virtualbox Virtual OS i already have set up from when i used to work from home and have to use certain software on windows because Wine just couldn't cut it (and lets face it, Mission Control is awesome, then you go on Windows and everything just seems to cluttered). So i read the default specs for the game on Steam (2GB) so i give Virtualbox 2GB, but this was a MAHOOSIVE mistake, because as soon as i clicked start, it's been a down hill spiral.
The computer immediately started lagging, to the point where the laptop was actually unusable, so i force restarted it by pressing down the power button for 5 seconds and i let it restart. After it booted, everything seemed fine (i expected nothing else) so i decided to only give it 1GB of RAM, and just turn down the settings to the lowest possible (which is something i've had to do with World of Warcraft recently. It used to be able to run on Ultra when i first got the laptop, now it struggles on low and if i have a browser up at the same time). Again, big mistake, it lagged to unusability. So i restart again, but this time it takes 5 minutes to boot, and once booted everything is so slow, so i decide to re-install the OS, so i get my flash drive and spend the next hour moving things over from my user folder because when i would try to move a folder that had 5+ files or something that was 100MB or larger, it would error out saying a certain file couldn't be read or written, and would cancel and remove everything else that was transfering at the time.
So i restart but boot into the recovery option, and do a refresh the OS, and i let it download and install. I was surprised to see when it had all completed that it still had all my files, but it still ran slow, not as slow as before but definitely not as good as before, i would estimate at quatre the performance. So i assume that Virtualbox must have editted some system setting and my Mac thinks i only have 2GBs of RAM and not 4GB, so i search on how to reset the bootloader, and i was tried the alt + cmd + r + p, but after that when it booted, it came to the wallpaper but i was getting these popups that Finder had unexpectedly quit, so i click Okay a few times, they keep coming back up, so i look at the details and it says that the app had failed 500+ times before.
So i put my Snow Leopard disk in, use Disk Utility and use erase on my Mac OS partition, then i re-install Snow Leopard, then i download and install Mountain Lion again, but the snails pace remains. I do alittle more research and someone suggested modifying the partition size by a few gigs or so to re-write it and reset certain variables attached, didn't work, even after a reboot.
So yesterday i just put the Snow Leopard disk in, and i remove both partitons (Mac and Windows) and i make one partition. I install Snow Leopard and then Moutain Lion, and so far it appears that everything it back up to speed... however, i've been keeping a keen eye on Activity Moniter and "top" in Terminal, and my CPU usage and RAM usage are always relatively low. I always seem to have 1GB-2GB RAM free, and my Idle CPU always seems to be above 80%-90% but i'm getting these weird lag spikes. I notice it most when i try installing World of Warcraft again, the download speed averages around 3MB/s (my ISP is Virigin Media and i get 60Mbs/s fibre optic so i know it's not my connection failing) and then the app seems to freeze (stops refreshing the average speed, and then about 5-10 seconds later, it starts refreshing again but it's at 12-50KB/s. This also seems to happen a lot when i use web browsers.
I have noticed something new, literally only about 30 minutes before i started writing this. There is a noise that happens every 2-4 seconds, it's pretty regular, it sounds like a grasshopper, or other chirping bug/insect inside my laptop. It sounds like metal scraping against metal, which is worrying. It's coming from the right hand side of the Magic Track Pad, which is where i believe the Hard Drive is. I've looked online and this seems to be a sign that the harddrive is dying.

Yeah, the problem has been solved.
Unfortunately, the solution is buying a new storage device.
So if you're having these issues, i tried almost everything consumer possible, that's free anyway, and the hard drive was just too faulty to work properly. So backup all your stuff whilst you still can.
I bought an SSD for around £80, only 120 gigs of storage, but i have iTunes Match so i don't need to have my films and music downloaded.
If you're very mobile with your laptop, then i suggest getting an SSD. Lugging about a laptop with a storage device with moving parts is very very risky.
As soon as i got a new storage device, everything was back to normal. It was like it was new again.
Anyway, sorry i can't give you a free solution, but it's the only solution i got.

  • WRT400N Lag spikes, similar in time, IP renewing? Please help

Hello, I just recently purchase the WRT400N along with a WMP600N (Dual band PCI wireless card) I am connected to the internet constantly. Never drop my connection, how ever I purchased all this for a single reason-to play world of warcraft.
When I am playing I get a lag spike that lasts a few seconds and happens ever 30-60 seconds. I have tried connecting to both 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz networks and I get the same issue every time. I never had this problem so consitently with my old router and wireless card.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Speed- 2.4mghz 130mbps
               5.0 mghz 150-252mbps
Singal is High and very high for both networks. Both networks are on a WEP security.

Login to the router setup and click on the Wireless tab and below click on the sub tab "Advance Wireless Settings" and below Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...
You can change this settings for 5GHz and for 2.4GHz...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Constant lag spikes in WoW

I'd like to start off by saying im not very tech savvy so im sorry if this has been explained before but i dont really know what im looking for to fix
For about a week or so now i've been experiencing terrible lag spikes, my "world ms" has been ranging from 500 to over 2000, with me often waiting 20 seconds or more for something to happen in game, sometimes i just get disconnected. This only happens in world of warcraft, no other games, and my download and browsing speeds are the same as normal.
Needless to say its terribly frustrating, does anybody know why this is happening? If you need any technical information from me just say so but please be kind enough to tell me how to get it for you

This is what is happening to me, you might want to look at my thread
    http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-Speed-Connection-Issues/Packet-loss-High-latency-and-disconnection/td-...
I would also suggest posting a traceroute and pathping to a new thread on the tech support forum on battle.net (best to do it while you are mid-disconnect - there is a guide on how to report latency issues stickied on the forum) and see if anyone has any ideas.
    http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/874936/
^ WoW EU tech support forum
    https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/running-a-trace-route
^ This is how to run a WoW traceroute - you need to find out which battlegroup your main server is in to get the right IP address to put in. Hover over the battlegroups on that page to get a server list.
    https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/running-a-pathping-test
^ This is how to run a pathping, similar method as above.
You will need to wait quite some time for both of these to complete, about 5-10 mins each. It is finished when the cursor starts a new line (new command prompt) in the CMD box.
If you follow the instructions properly for both you will instruct your PC to test the route your connection takes to the WoW servers, the time it takes, and the quality of the connection and put them into handy text files which you can then copy/paste to this forum / WoW forums to help diagnose the problem.
As you can see from my thread linked above the data is bounced through quite a few locations before reaching WoW (seen as telia.net servers - they manage WoW's servers in Europe) if the delay/packet loss is at a Telia location it's a WoW problem, if it happens before then it's either your personal connection or a BT issue.
I am interested to know whether this problem is similar to mine- I can't seem to stay online for more than a few minutes at the moment!

  • Lag spikes while gaming.

    Hi,
I had BT Infinity installed today and firstly I'd like to say that the overall service was and is very good and the download and upload speeds are beyond my fondest hopes. I was initially very happy with the connection when I was connected to the router via an Ethernet cable. However, when I moved upstairs to try out the wireless connection, I found that after about half an hour, I was experiencing major lag spikes very frequently. I ran tests on speedtest.net and pingtest.net, and found that the packet loss had increased from 0% to 14%, and jitter from 1ms to 32ms. I went back to the Ethernet cable and the connection was fine again. I've looked around the forum but haven't found any solutions. I am using the HH3, I was playing left 4 dead 2 and world of warcraft (not at the same time  ), there were 3 other devices connected at the time but only browsing and the signal strength was excellent.
Any help would be greatly appreciated .

I agree with evohicks comments a wired connection for gaming is always the best option as wireless is subject to interference and that causing a lot of packets being resent

  • Macbook (1,83GHZ Duo 1GB RAM ...) + World of Warcraft

    hi,
does anyone of you know if I m able to run World of Warcraft on an Macbook without graphic problems, or better said 'hardware lags'?
a PC haha, maybe a mac soon   Windows XP Pro   sometimes it *****

    Welcome to the discussions!
There are plenty of people here that run WoW nicely on their MBs. I recommend at least 1GB of RAM for most but the lightest Mac users, so in that comfiguration it will work well.

  • WRT160N Low latency, but lag spikes

The best example is World of Warcraft. I'll be in combat and everything will pause for about 3 seconds, and once it resumes I have missed 3 seconds of action. My latency is around 250ms, but this lag seems to happen randomly, and at least every few minutes.
My router has the latest firmware. I have tried different channels. I have forwarded all the required ports. It's not the game, nor the computer. This didn't start until I got the WRT160N and the WUSB600N adapter. If I connect the cable modem directly to my computer, everything runs smooth.
    Any ideas out there?

Well try upgrading the firmware of the router & keep on holding tightly
the reset button in such a way that power light is blinking on the
router & then do a complete network power cycle i.e., unplug the power
cables from the modem & from the router & then plug in the power
cable to the modem first once all the lights are solid green you could plug in the power cable to the router & check out it will definately work!!
Open the setup page of router using 192.168.1.1 then put in the
password as admin...all you need to do is do the wireless settings such
as Radio Band Frequency to Standard 20 MHZ frequency, channel to
    11.
Also, the advanced wireless settings to Beacon Interval=50,Frag
    thres=2306 & Rts thres=2307 & then uncheck a Block Anonymous
Internet Requests & it will definately work!!!

  • Lag spikes every few seconds

I am having lag spikes on both wired and wireless connections which give 1200-2500 ms ping spikes every 20 seconds or so. I have reset the router and also ping tested connection to the router which yields >1ms. I pinged the League of Legends server twice as shown from the link: http://prntscr.com/80xxam one gave a fine ping, then moments later a ping spike. Nothing online can be done without these interruptions or being kicked from servers. I have also done a speed test which says everything is fine, but that is obviously not the case. I had this problem on Windows 7 and I am now running Windows 10 with the problem still there. The Wireless Gateway I have is TG862, so drivers/firmware should all be the most up to date. Can you tell me if its something from Comcast side or if I'm missing something? Thanks in advance.

  • In desperate need for help - Lag spikes through a wired connection

Hello. I've recently started experiencing random lag spikes. I have no idea what the cause of these could be. I've used this router for almost 2 yrs now and never ran into a problem. I've done extensive searches and updated my old firmware to the new one following the strict intructions. I've also been trying to figure out how to log my network to provide more information on my situation. I've downloaded kiwisyslogd but have no idea how to use it... Any help with that would also be greatly appreciated.
    -Tesm
EXTRA INFO - I called my isp (cox) and they told me everything on their line is fine. I'm running on a 15mb line. Internet connection works and everything else is fine except for periodic lag spikes that really interupt my gaming and web browsing severly.
    router: wrt54g v2
Firmware: DD-WRT v23 SP2 (09/15/06) std then reverted back to linksys latest firmware... still no solution.
Tried isolating the router out of the equation. Connected pc directly to the modem and had no problems. Connected the router back in and lag spikes came back. Pc is connected through ethernet wire.
Tried disabling windows wireless zero service - no help
Pinging a game server i tested the lag at. No problems when I pinged the server with the router. But when I joined the server with the game. I experience the lag spikes. Could this mean its not my router? When I plug the modem directly to my pc this problem doesn't happen.

  • Cisco Linksys E1000 - Lag Spike about every 10 seconds.

    Hello,
Hopefully this is the right place to ask such a question. I recently purchased a Cisco Linksys router, as I was having problems with the main connection and my computer. The router works almost fine and acts as a bridge between the original router, and my computer.
I have a Westell Versalink plugged into the DSL phone cord. The Versalink is connected to my Cisco router, and the Cisco router is connected to my computer... All using cables.
    Basically, it's Versalink -> Cisco -> Computer.
It works almost great, except I keep receiving huge lag spikes every 10 seconds, when trying to run something that requires a constant connection. (In my case, a game. It will lag every 10 seconds.)
I'm not sure I setup the Cisco router to properly work the way I want it to, thus the lag.
It used to be far worse, but I setup the PPoP login on the Cisco router independent of the fact that it's already connected on the Versalink.
I need some advice on how to eliminate this lag so I can get a steady and smooth connection.
Before anyone starts giving me Wireless advice, this has NOTHING to do with the Wireless portion, that works fine. (But probably would experience the same lag.)
This is happening regardless, and I need it fixed.
Yet again, I'll type out my layout here:
DSL / Phone -> Versalink -> Cisco Router -> Computer
I believe the problem exists in the Cisco router. I'm amazed that I was even able to get it to work how I did to begin with. However, I need some additional help.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Ice Sage,
I would do a little more research on the internet regarding ALL Cisco Linksys routers... the issue you are seeing is normal of thier routers right now.. and one they have not been willing to fix... The Linksys router you have ... in reality is actually the WRT160N with a few tweaks in the firmware... If you look at the specs, the E1000 is not the best router to play your video games with or HD Movies... you really wanted the E3000
BUT .... that also has that same issue as well but more pronounced... as well as over heating... if you take your router off you will see the lag goes away.

  • Lag spikes while gaming, probably due to wireless network

While gaming online, I get lag spikes, or as I like to call them, due to the nature of what happens, warping, every so often. By warping I mean I do something, my screen shows it, but the action never got sent across the server. So if I were to move right during a warping event, it'd show me that I moved right but then in a second I'm back where I was. (I hope that makes sense)
As for what I've done to try to rectify this problem:
    Reset the router
Open up all necessary ports (actually I just enabled DMZ, which would open all ports)
I would have updated the drivers for my wireless adapter, but this problem also occurs when I'm gaming online on a console connected to the wireless network so I highly doubt the drivers would be the problem.
As for my router's model number, it's WRT54G.
Now, for the question I have. Would switching to a WIRED network fix this problem? (despite that pinging from a wireless connection then pinging from a wired connection was consistent)  If so, why? (the why would be to convince my dad, as he believes that due to the consistency in the pinging attempts (only 3-4 packets lost out of 100 when pinging to Google) the problem couldn't be due to the wireless network)
    Many thanks for your time.

You should try to upgrade your router's firmware, reset and then re-configure your router...
Download the router's firmware from here
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
Adjust the Wireless Settings after re-configuring the router -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...
Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
-Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Wireless channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bit.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...
Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...
Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...See if you face the same problem...

  • World of Warcraft installer issue with WRT110

I have a strange issue with runnnig the initial install for World of Warcraft. I have three computers on my network using a WRT110 router. None of them (Windows Vista 32-bit and WIndows 7 64-bit) would run the installer.exe correctly. Meaning once I ran the InstallWOW.exe program it would download some files and than automatically run installer.exe. This program would just sit at "Downloading new installer..." and never go the the screen where you would then click on INSTALL.  I beat myself up for awhile on this. I added entries for the WOW forward ports and tested them with pfportchecker.exe to make sure they were open both inside and out but none of the PC's would run installer.exe correctly. I even forwarded all the tcp/udp ports for 1 - 9999 to a PC with a static IP. Nothing. Finally, I removed the router and connected my PC direclty into the Cable modem and it worked. The INSTALL screen popped right up. Once I installed the normal game I reconnected the router and successfully downloaded and installed all the patches wihtout the port forwarding setup. Go figure.
I'm confused as to what involvement the router has for the installer.exe program versus the patches. It makes no sense to me to have to removed the router from the equation just to get the initial install to run yet patches ran fine even WITHOUT the forwarding setup.  I have the latest firmware 1.0.07 as well. Anyone have any clues?  WIth all 3 PC's having the same issue and with them running two different WIndows versions it seems the router is the problem.  Is there a setting I'm missing or is this a bug???  Thanks,

I can try this. My understanding is the WRT110 default is auto which in essence is 1500. What value should I try?  I've read setting this to 1492 for PPPoE and 1460 for PPTP, but I don't think these apply to WoW.  I also read where DHCP, which is what I'm using with Comcast, uses a 1500 MTU, which is the default.  I will try this messing with this setting and see if my other PC's can than run the WoW installer correctly. Would be nice to figure this out so I don't have to directly connect the the Cable modem in the future to get around whatever this issue is.  Thanks for your response.

  • World of Warcraft = 95c

Ok, so the top should help in searches.
The issue is heat, yes it posted everywhere else, yes i understand that my MacBook pro is fist generation (Late 2008 model) and YES i have not read every other post on this.
Sitting here typing this post my machine is running at 50-55c, fans are cranked to 6200rpm using smcFanControl. I have ZERO issues doing the normal day to day things, its when i stress the video/cpu that things, specifically playing world of warcraft, and only on my external monitor.
After roughly 20 min at 1920x1200 the board/cpu temp peaks at 90-95c, yes i can drop it down to about 83c using a laptop cooler however i am curious about something (other than the obviously super hot temps). The initial 20 or so minutes are fine, video is stable, however after a while the system starts to....lag, for lack of a better term. From what i can tell the system is dialing back the cpu to prevent damage, battery life or both.
Is there long term damage considerations from playing even a minority 'hardware stressful' game like warcraft?
Is there a way to manage the system resources so that in 'Performance Mode' the cpu is never dialed back?

I have the same problem you do. I'm disappointed in the WoW performance. I have the late 2008 MBP with a 24" second monitor.
    The graphic settings are:
    2x sampling
    max FPS capped at 40
    ground clutter in the middle
    view distance at 777
    shadow quality set at low
i get stutters as the graphics card loads in new textures, poor performance in Dalaran and not to mention the over heating issues. You mean to tell me no one at Apple forsaw the heating issue? <sarcasm>I know WoW is a small game and barely anyone in the computer community plays it.</sarcasm> Apple, didn't you test this out?
I get the same frame rates you do. For the money we paid out for this laptop, i would expect something better.

  • World Of Warcraft with MBP

    Hi there everyone,
I am considering purchasing a MacBookPro in the coming weeks and I am an avid World Of Warcraft player. I know there has been a universal update for WoW, however I am not sure (nor am I able to find out) any fps recordings for a MacBookPro running WoW on high resolution with the following system specifications:
    2.0GHz Intel Core Duo
    1GB DDR2 memory
    100GB Serial ATA
    ATI Radeon X1600 256MB
    4x SuperDrive
    Built-in AirPort Extreme
    Built-in Bluetooth 2.0
    Built-in iSight
I have played WoW on a PC with the similiar specs for years now, but want to know what the results will be like with one of these shiny new MBP's.
    Thanks in advance!

I was previously playing WoW on my iBook, which to me was good enough (but Ironforge was deadly, as was the fact it took ages foro textures to load up etc.) - but I bought the better of the two MacBook Pros, and upgraded to 1Gb memory - WoW was an unbelievable dream - it let me turn up all the graphic details... I had never even seen death effect before... the game suddenly looked gorgeous, textures and colours and sharpness I had never seen.. also ran very very smoothly, no lag, I could actually type in guild chat whilst on a grif... I have no idea about FPS and all that stuff and of course the MB Pro was going to be imeasurably better to me than an iBook, but even PC playing friends with decently specced machines were saying it looked and ran really well.
... slight technical hitch in this otherwise happy tale, is that about a week after getting my MacBook Pro, it stopped working - it started with WoW, getting error messages and booting me out... I tried to run the OS update which mentioned a fix to WoW, but it wouldn't let me, then I got the black screen with yellow and red along the top.... I tried to reinstall OSX and that wouldn't work either, it had been getting pretty hot too - so it is currently back with Apple (and has been for nearly a month), I have no idea what was wrong, they thought memory on the phone, but I'm still waiting for it to come back so I can play WoW on a decent machine again!
... I may just have been unlucky, I hope so as £2k is a lot of money hehe
