World's Dumbest Question?

If I "download/open" a word, pdf, ppt file in Mail on my Ipod Tocuh, where does it go, and how do I access or delete it later? Do I need to alway go back to the email? If I delete the email does the document get deleted?
Yeah, I know...dumb questions, but I can't figure it out and did my best to find the answer before posting.
Thanks

For the most part, the iPhone/iPod touch don't really have full file storage/management capabilities just yet. If the documents are stored on a web page or in an e-mail message, you can only view them when you are looking at the page or message.
There is a file utility on the App Store called FileMagnet that gives you a place to store documents and transfer them back and forth with your Mac. It's handy, but it's still not full-fledged file management.
And don't worry - this is far from the world's dumbest question. Try browsing a couple of pages here and you'll see what I mean.

  • Dumbest Question Ever

    Ok,
    I have Garageband 1.1.0 on my computer...I want to have the latest version, but when I tried to install the latest (3.0.4), the old comp-tor said:
    GarageBand_304 cannot be installed on this computer.
    An eligible GarageBand application was not found in /Applications.
    So I figured, mine's probably too old and that one's too new...I'll just get an older version of GB that's newer than mine...so I downloaded 2.0.2 and got the same exact message...
    Where do I find the version that I can download so I can start climbing up the ladder towards a new version of the program?
    RELATED QUESTION
    My friend also has Garageband (the newest version I do believe), and he tried to send me a file which contains a song that we're working on...but when I copied it to my computer, and tried to open it, it said "damaged file", followed by "Not a Defender File"...the latter comment I found somewhat curious, since I have not heard of "Garageband: Defender"...Anyway, I can't open the file...hence I began hunting for updates, thinking that might be the key to why I can't get at the file. One other detail...I thought maybe the type of CD he copied to might be affecting things...its a Memorex...are they like, not good or something?
    Anyway, if anyone can shed some light on any of this, I'd be most obliged.

    Sorry,
    I am really picky about this, because my company writes and sells software. There is nothing worse to us than a pirate. We use a dongle to protect ourselves, but let me tell you, the open admission of a crime is being committed simply by mentioning methods to get software for free.
    I know that won't be a popular thought, but if nothing else, there are kids here and if they see adults making these suggestions, they feel it is okay. Stealing is stealing, whether gum at the store or software off the net.
    Bob
    PS: You can do the following, search out OEM versions of the software via google, it will be cheaper. Or, you can find someone who doesn't need their copy. I got my XP Pro install disk that way... The software is only loaded once, keeping the license in tact. In fact, in my case, the wrapper was still on the disk!

  • Possibly the dumbest question about MapLoader

    I've noticed that it is advised to use Maps once with the memory card in before trying to upload maps through MapLoader.
    My question is, do I have to be connected to internet while doing this?
    If I don't there is something wrong because I can't upload maps as MapLoader says my device is not connected when it actually is.
    Any help is very appreciated!
    The n95 klutz

    Hi kappy
    No you don't have to be connected to Internet at same time. When you exit Maps application with microSD in your N95 and data is saved, it creates the folder structure on microSD needed by Maploader to write the maps data.

  • Re: Unlimited World 1 month question .

    Hi there,
    I also just subscribed to the Unlimited World 1 month free trial. The list of unlimited land line calls include Finland. However, when i tried calling a corporate land land number in Finland, it still costed me HK$1.04 of Skype credit (@ rate of HK$ 0.349/min) for a call which lasted for only 22 seconds.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    I'm not sure I'm in the correct forum, so my apologies up front if I'm in the wrong place. If you know where this should be posted please let me know.
    I'm working in JDE One World under purchasing (3rd party) dealing with purchase orders.
    I'm trying to do a change order, and I need to change the currency from GBP to EUR for an order, but don't seem to be able to access the currency in my header. Is there a way to do this, or do I have to make a new order with the correct currency.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Might be the Dumbest Question ever!

    Can I put IDVD on an external 1tb hard drive and connect a dvd burner, using a partition so that the program and half the drive space is used for operations and half is used for ram. What I am wanting to do is work a project up on my computer, then send it to I DVD program on the stand alone, hard drive/dvd burner to burn to Disk. My thought is that the I DVD project would burn to disk on the stand alone, while I continue with other projects on my computer. O.K. I'm really dreaming here., Huh?

    Hello, and welcome to the discussions,
    I have not tried this, so I am not certain about my response, but it has been my understanding that all the iLife applications must reside on your computer's main drive in order to function properly. You can put iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes files on external drives, and you can create iDVD projects on external drives. You could put iDVD project disk image files on an external drive and burn those, but then you would still have to create the disk image files on your computer, which would take the same time and computer-intensity as burning a disk. I currently have four external drives for my media files, disk image files, iPhoto and iTunes libraries and backups and all my iMovies, but I keep the iLife apps on my computer's hard drive.

  • Probably the dumbest questions ever.

    Hello, I am new to flash. I can't get the button
    functionality to work so that I can display it in Dreamweaver for
    the site that I am creating. I made buttons in photoshop, but I
    want the text to have the mouse over/down effect. After importing
    them into Flash, it appeared I was able to get the up/over/down/hit
    to work because I can preview it. But when insert the flash file
    into dreamweaver its just a gray box and not a button. There has to
    be something I'm doing wrong after I import it. Or, I don't fully
    understand the publish settings thing. Do you have to do that and
    insert all that javascript code in your page for each button? I'm
    so confused...please help.
    Kris.

    Nevermind, I'm an idiot.

  • This is the stupidest question anyone has ever asked I'm sure.  But how in the world do you turn the music off?  If I just turn the sound off, then it doesn't want to work in other apps either and the music just goes on and on.

    I have the dumbest question.  Is there an off button just for the music?  I can't get my music to stop playing. When I turn the sound off, the music goes on and on and the sound won't work on other apps.  Am I doing something worng?  Haven't had this thing very long.

  • A few very basic questions

    OK, I'm just purchased a MacBook (my first Apple computer) along with iWork '08 and so far I'm very impressed, although I'm still learning to adjust from the PowerPoint program.
    OK, first off, how do you set an image as the background? This is probably the dumbest question I've ever asked, but ya, I can't seem to figure it out.
    Secondly, if I export this has a Quicktime video and say "Manual Advance" for the Playback settings, does that mean I have to press a button to advance to the next animation/slide?
    Lastly, are there any noticeable issues presenting a Keynote presentation in Quick Time? Anything I have to watch out for?
    Thanks for the help!

    1. Go to the Inspector (the movable window with all your formatting and gizmos), and click the Slide button at the top (second from the left). Within that tab, press the Appearance tab. Under Background, select Image fill, and choose your image for your background.
    2. Yes it does. QuickTime has a built-in feature that lets you click the the "movie" within the player to advance slides; I think the keyboard arrows work as well.
    3. Just make sure your quality and size to which you export are adequate for however you will be presenting. Also, I've heard that slideshows exported to QT don't always cooperate with earlier versions of QT or on Windows versions.

  • Questions about DAO pattern

    Hi,
    I am a junior programmer and I am trying to understand somewhat more about best practices and design patterns.
    I am looking for more information regarding the DAO pattern, not the easy examples you find everywhere on the internet, but actual implementations of real world examples.
    Questions:
    1) Does a DAO always map with a single table in the database?
    2) Does a DAO contain any validation logic or is all validation logic contained in the Business Object?
    3) In a database I have 2 tables: Person and Address. As far as I understand the DAO pattern, I now create a PersonDAO and an AddressDAO who will perform the CRUD operations for the Person and Address objects. PersonDAO only has access to the Person table and AddressDAO only has access to the Address table. This seems correct to me, but what if I must be able to look up all persons who live in the same city? What if I also want to look up persons via their telephone numbers? I could add a findPersonByCity and findPersonByTelephoneNumber method to the PersonDAO, but that would result in the PersonDAO also accessing the Address table in the database (even though there already is an AddressDAO). Is that permitted? And why?
    I hope someone can help me out.
    Thanks for your time!
    Jeroen

    That is exactly what I am trying to do. I am writing it all myself to get a better understanding of it.
    Please bear with me, because there are some things I dont understand in your previous answer.
    1) Each BO validates his corresponding DTO and exposes operations to persist that DTO. Each DTO will be persisted in the database via his corresponding DAO. So this would be:
    - in PersonBO
    public void save(PersonDTO personDTO) {
    this.validate(personDTO); // does not validate the nested address DTOs
    this.personDAO.save(personDTO); // does not save the nested address DTOs
    - in AddressBO
    public void save(AddressDTO addressDTO) {
    this.validate(addressDTO);
    this.addressDAO.save(addressDTO);
    Am I viewing it from the right side now?
    2) Imagine a form designed to insert a new person in the database, it contains all fields for the Person DTO and 2 Address DTOs.
    How would I do this using my Business Objects?
    This is how I see it:
    // fill the DTOs
    daoManager.beginTransaction();
    try {
    personBO.setDao(daoManager.getDao(PersonDAO.class));
    personBO.save(personDTO); // save 1
    addressBO.setDao(daoManager.getDao(AddressDAO.class));
    addressBO.save(personDTO.getAddress(1)); // save 2
    addressBO.save(personDTO.getAddress(2)); // save 3
    daoManager.commit();
    catch(Exception e) {
    daoManager.rollBack();
    If I insert the transaction management inside the DAOs, I can never rollback save 1 when save 2 or save 3 fail.
    It can be that I am viewing it all wrong, please correct me if that is the case.
    Thanks!
    Jeroen

  • A general question

    Hello again world.
    My question is of a general nature. I am trying to teach myself Java and I think I understand classes, objects, and methods in all of their incarnations. I understand interfaces, inheritance, and the API . I am now trying to tackle GUI programming and am already having a little trouble getting past page one. I refer to the following single statement that simply terminates a frame thread:
    addWindowListener(new WindowAdapter(){ public void windowClosing(WindowEvent e){System.exit(0);}});
    My question is actually a two parter. First, this seems like a lot of work - for both the programmer and the compiler - to do something so simple. Second, I'm looking at the end of the statement - ;}}); - and seem to recall, when I was learning C back in the earlies, that one was supposed to avoid constructs like that. It was considered poor style, confusing, and inefficient.
    To anyone who replies, please bear in mind that I am not a programmer. I'm just the poor sucker who has to learn this stuff in order to explain it to the people who actually write code. They say it's cheaper than sending thirty people to training classes.
    Again, thanx to all.
    Ciao for now.

    Second, I'm
    looking at the end of the statement - ;}}); -
    and seem to recall, when I was learning C back in the
    earlies, that one was supposed to avoid constructs
    like that. It was considered poor style, confusing,
    and inefficient.It's not any more inefficient from an execution time standpoint than any other indentation style, if that's what you're saying. Some may find it a little hard to read. It's more or less not a standard indentation style.
    To anyone who replies, please bear in mind that I am
    not a programmer. I'm just the poor sucker who has to
    learn this stuff in order to explain it to the people
    who actually write code. They say it's cheaper than
    sending thirty people to training classes.You know, if we could slap around managers who made bone-headed decisions like this, efficiency would go through the roof. And I don't mean just programmer's time efficiency. I mean process improvement efficiency. Corporate profits would increase by an order of magnitude while costs would plummet.

  • Unlimited World = Add mobile check in

    Hi,
    I am interested in Unlimited World, and I found that if I add "5EUR" for this porduct, I can make a call to "mobile" world wide.
    Question is that
    Is there any time limitation for "calling to mobile?"
    It looks so, but I would like to make sure, whether there is no additional cost for mobile calling as well.
    Asking for your kind help.

    With Unlimited World subscription you get to call all the countries covered in the subscription and this 5EUR extra is just a regular Skype Credit that you can buy with the subscription.
    Skype Credit lets you call anywhere you wish and your account is charged according to call rates: http://www.skype.com/intl/en/prices/payg-rates/
    Plus connection fee http://www.skype.com/go/connectionfee
    You can purchase Skype Credit and a subscription separately if you wish, doesn't really matter.

    Hello World !
    Simpel question: can I install and run all programmes in the CS5 (not the CS5.5) on a Windows 8 without any problems and/or limitations?
    Where can I find the simpel answer to this simpel question on Adobe's websites ??

    You can't find a simple answer because it doesn't exist. Too many specifics involved liek Win 8 using a different graphics driver model, different CoDecs, a different print engine and what have you. You will find out when you try, but not before.
