Worried about my remote login being hacked

I use a wifi router here in my apartment and I have the network encrpyted. The thing is that my computers are connected together using ethernet and one of them recieves the wifi and allows internet sharing on the other. I have personal file sharing on and remote login enabled because i am often going back and forth between both computers. I know this allows for some security vulnerabilities so i have some questions about whether it is actually possible for some neighbor to somehow get my user/password. I am very sure that the best advice will be to only turn on these sharing/login services when i have to but id really like to keep everything fluid. I mean, is it really that easy to get my admin user/password through my wifi network? I know it would be safer to cancel these services but i dont want to be gripped by fear...

Yes, once they crack the WEP, then they have your Login Name & Password(s).
"Now it takes just 3 seconds to extract a 104-bit WEP key from intercepted data using a 1.7GHz Pentium M processor. The necessary data can be captured in less than a minute, and the attack requires so much less computing power than previous attacks that it could even be performed in real time by someone walking through an office."

I've often mused that WEP may be worse than a completely open Network! After all, these Hackers are generally looking for a little challenge for some thrill/boasting rights, and saying hay, I just broke into an open network, isn't going to make your hat any blacker!

• On a multiple member Icloud account, do I need to worry about my text messages being restored to one of the other phones?

I have a multi family icloud acct. i am concerned that my chat records can be recovered by someone else on the account. is that a valid concern?

Your text messages are only stored in your iCloud backup. Someone else would need to restore your backup to their device in order to access them.
But you should be sure that everyone is using a separate Apple ID for iMessage on their devices to prevent you from seeing each others messages on your devices. (This has nothing to do with iCloud.)

• What is the best app for a password keeper? Should I have to worry about hacking or information exploitation, etc.?

I have jusst switched from a Blackberry to my new iPhone 5s. One feature that Blackberry had built into it already was a password keeper where all I needed to remeber was one master password and the rest of my passwords and information were securely locked away. I'm in search for an App I can trust that has a secure network. One I don't have to worry about the possibility of beine hacked and all my information being stolen. Maybe I'm being overly concerned, but you can never know now a days. So if anyone has any insight on this particular subject, I'd love to hear. Thank you.

One of the best, IMO:

• Hi SAP Remote Login

Hi all,
I am getting training in SAP ABAP and in the training institute there is SAP software, is it possible for me to login to the SAP software by Remote Login.. What are the steps I need to follow?. I asked my instructor about the Remote Login facility and he said he dont know how to connect to the SAP software. Let me know how I can connect the SAP software which is in my institute to have a Remote Login and study from home. Also, the training institute is not very big organisation, its a small place giving training to about 10 students at any given time..So how can I achieve Remote Login in this case??
What are the steps that I need to follow in order to access the software.
Please reply me as soon as possible.

Hi Ashok,
Please reward and close your previous post with the title 'Hi SAP Installation ??????'.
I am assuming this is the same question as that one. you need to install SAPGUI on your laptop/computer-at-home. You then need the 'saplogon.ini' file from your company's windows directory and put that in your windows directory.
Above all, you need network access to your company from your home. Ask your network administrator about how you can achieve that.

Your iOS device backup only includes data and settings stored on your device. It doesn’t include data already stored in iCloud, for example contacts, calendars, bookmarks, mail messages, notes, shared photo albums, iCloud Photo Library beta, My Photo Stream, and documents you save in iCloud using iOS apps and Mac apps.

• Do I have to worry about my macpro getting hacked?

Do I have to worry about my macpro getting hacked?

The SSL problem has been handled by Apple through security updates to the Mavericks and Mountain Lion and Lion operating systems. If your operating systems are up-to-date you have little to worry about.
The Mac OS X Mavericks update, 10.9.2, is quick and easy to install.
The concerns with the SSL flaw are with using an unsecure public wireless network. If you are using your MBP on a wired network or your own network there is very little likelihood of a problem. The flaw did not allow access to the computer, just third-party eavesdropping on the communication.
But, one should always be aware of the risks involved in transmitting sensitive information such as credit card numbers, bank account information, over any public wireless network. Always use proper secure and encrypted communications when doing that.

Howdy Libbidydooda,
There are a couple of possibilities that may apply to the email you have received regarding your Apple ID. The first is that the email may be a legitimate warning that your Apple ID has been compromised. For this reason I would suggest that you change the password to your Apple ID as soon as possible. Use the instructions on this page -
Apple ID: Changing your password - Apple Support
In order to increase security for your Apple ID you may want to set up and use two-step verification. See this article for information about it -
Frequently asked questions about two-step verification for Apple ID - Apple Support
The second possibilty is that the email is an attempt at "phishing" in order to get you to reveal personal information. Typically this is done with an email that looks like it comes from an official source but has links to web pages that, while they may look like they are real, may actually be gathering your information for use by others. This article has more information about phishing -
Identifying fraudulent "phishing" email - Apple Support
For this reason it is important that you do not follow any links in the email, as they may compromise your security.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Best,
Brett L

• On the top left of my computer screen there are what look like the bottom half of small grey and white squares stacked on top of each other. They form a line about three inches long and I cant seem to get rid of them. Is my computer dying or being hacked

On the top left of my computer screen there are what look like the bottom half of small grey and white squares stacked on top of each other. They form a line about three inches horizontally along the top and they cover half of the regualr bar (so half of the apple sign int he corner is covered) and I cant seem to get rid of them. Is my hardrive crashing or being hacked?

I have never seen DEVELOP on the menu bar for Safari, hence my query regarding testing.
What OS are you using and what version of Safari?
If you want to check your HDD, Open Disk Utilities>First Aid and run Verify and Repair.
The only remedy that I can think of that may work is an OS reinstall.
I seriously doubt that your MBP is being hacked.
Ciao.

• Can I turn off mu iCloud without losing all my documents on my iMac?My iCloud window popped up unexpectedly, and am worried about a hacker. HELP.

Can I turn off, or remove myself my iCloud account, without losing all my documents on my iMac? My iCloud window popped up unexpectedly, and am worried about a hacker. When I try and sign out of iCloud, The iCloud window is giving me a message that "If you turn off Documents & Data, all documents stored in iCloud will be removed from this Mac". I have iMac OS X 10.7.5, 2.7ghz, Intel core i5. I don't use my iCloud service, and I somehow my iPhone linked it to my computer by mistake. I don't want the service or need it, & don't want my info in cyberspace. I don't want to lose my documents on my hard drive, and it appears that I haven't used any data in iCloud, as 5GB of 5GB is available. HELP.

I would love to hear that Apple has remedied this problem. From other discussion strings that I am following related to this issue, it seems thus far we remain out of luck. I did discover that if I log onto iCloud.com I can access my files that way. Still, what a pain.
When I got the message re iCloud Drive as I was setting up my phone after the update to iOS8, it said I wouldn't be able to access my files unless all of my devices were running iOS8 OR Yosemite. That message was misleading as it really should have said all devices need to be running iOS8 AND your mac needs to be running Yosemite, as it was not an "either or" situation. So frustrating...

• Remote Login and Password no longer being stored

I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but ever since
I upgraded to IE7, Dreamweaver 8 will no longer store my website's

• I'm really worried about the security of my information. I have just turned on and tried to set up my new Iphone5. It keeps asking for my ex partners login details? She has never had access to my account??

I really dont understand how this works ....? Is this not a helpline??

No, this is community forums.
Did you and your ex ever share an iCloud account or Apple ID?
When is it asking for the info?
Did you plug your phone into your computer to sync with iTunes? If so, it's nothing to worry about probably, it's probably trying to grab and app or something from your iTunes library from her account.
