Worried about parents. Please help!

my parents phone has had a fault on it since september 16. Bt has logged the fault and there is an announcement that there is a fault when you ring the number. my parents are pensioners and live in a village. i live abroad and rely on the phone to speak to them. i have emailed bt twice to ask when the phone will be fixed but have not had any reply to either emails. when i ring up bt, the automated line hangs up on me! even though i have dialled in my parents number, the automated line says because 'i am' calling from a non bt line ( yes i live abroad) that i would need to contact MY telephone service provider. which is ridiculous as this issue has nothing to do with them. i just want to know my oarents are ok. could someone at bt contact me (as i have requested twice now) to tell me when my oarents phone will be fixed, and also sort out the ridiculous cut off on the telephone. why have a number specifically for people calling from abroad, if you then cut them off saying if they are not calling from a bt line, you wont deal with them. Please help.

    What exactly are you seeing on the phone's screen ? If the iTunes icon and cable then the phone is in recovery mode, in which case it's too late to take a new backup or to copy any content off the phone - you will have to connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and reset it back to factory defaults, after which you can restore to the last backup that you took or just resync your content to it

    Hmm. The problem still may be the RAM - Apple buys the RAM it puts in its machines from third-party vendors (usually Hynix) so it could be a RAM problem.
    There are a couple of things that you can do yourself before taking your machine into an Apple Store or an AASP... download and run an application named Rember that will run a RAM test for you - let it run for a couple of hours or even overnight. If it turns out that your RAM is faulty, Rember will let you know. If it is faulty, then you have a couple of options - replace the RAM yourself or (particularly if you're under warranty still) take the machine to an Apple Store or AASP and have them replace the RAM.
    If Rember finds no fault with the RAM, then you'll need to take it into an Apple Store/AASP and get a free diagnosis on the machine. Three beeps do usually indicate faulty RAM, but if it tests good with Rember you likely have another problem - it could be something as simple as the RAM, somehow, not seated correctly or signs of another hardware problem.
    Run Rember first... call back with results.

    Does the magazine show up in news stand that you purchased? Also you can check your subscriptions via iTunes on a Mac or PC to see if you actually were able to sign up for the subscirption or from your device. Here are the instructions http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4098. If it doesnt show up there more than likely your purchase didnt go through and what you are seeing is a authorization charge on your bank statement. I would contact itunes store support via calling Apple Care or expresslane.apple.com to see why it was declined if it doesnt show up under your subscriptions.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Maybe I am off base here but it seems to me the problem is the way in which you bind your server. The server must be bound to the same address and you are looking up from, i.e. "rmi://" host "/AddServer"
    so
    Naming.rebind("AddServer",addServerImpl);should be
    Naming.rebind("rmi://127.0.0.1/AddServer", addServerImpl);to match

    to break it down into secon ds).
    As far as the bit rate, I checked it and am exporting
    currently to a max of 5 with an average of 4.5 (for
    the video).
    The audio is AIFF all the way, I think encoding in
    Dolby is something a newer version fo compressor
    does. I have FCP 4.5 with DVDSP 3.
    I did export the audio as PCM AIFF, didn't shrin kthe
    size in fact enlarged it slightly.
    Do you figure if I have a bit rate max of 5 on video
    with 3 1.5 bit rate audio tracks, I'll be all right?

    With your version of FCP & DVDSP, you'll need to encode the audio into Dolby Digital 2.0 with A.Pack, which is a separate program on your hard drive. With Final Cut Studio, Apple did away with A.Pack and merged its functionality into Compressor.

    If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for a previous owners Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. This is a security feature that prevents thieves from setting up and using a stolen or lost iPad or iPhone. You have no alternative. You must contact the previous owner to get permission to use the device. If you cannot contact the previous owner return the device to where you bought it and get a refund. You will never be able to activate the device and no one can help you do it.

    I am pretty new to Flash and I have created a short animation
    using stop motion animation. I set up all my key frames, added my
    images and did my upmost best to align them with the top left hand
    corner of the stage. However when I play the animation then the
    whole image jumps about a bit, rather than just the intended
    animation!
    Hope someone can advise me here, I am sure it's probably
    quite simple, snap to stage or something?? I just can't work it

    For drawing your component the best of all would be using Canvas component and double buffering.
    JPanel and othen Swing components using its own methods for paint and not necessarily draw components how would you like.

    If the person is trying to send you DRM video, that won't open on the Mac unless you have a virtualization solution. Also chances are it won't be legal for you to open it on another computer than their own, unless they are willing to transfer the license to you for that video.
    If they are sending you a newer type of video than WMP can handle, try Flip4Mac. And if Flip4Mac doesn't work you'll probably need to install Windows on your Mac to play it. Ask them the source they are sending you.

    Hi,
    Increasing a quota for just a single user is not possible. You usually have an over-arching quota (20MB in your case) and restrict quotas down for individuals. If the user wants to send 50MB I suggest you tell them to put the file on a ftp/http site, or split the attachment into smaller chucks using winzip or similar and email that way.
    Increasing quota is a slippery slope. Once you increase it to 50MB, you will get request to increase it more, and more and more etc. The problems start to arise when the user is sending a large email to an external address which doesn't accept large emails (and you tend to get blamed for that being the 'email guy') or if they send to a mailing list or when they get bounces which cause their account to go overquota.
