Worries about MBP C2D screen, please advise.
Hi all,
I recently sold my Macbook CD and upgraded to the Pro 2.33. But I've been seeing issues concerning the screen on the new Pro's and was curious if alot of people have been having these problems. The biggest reason for me upgrading was the display on the Macbook. I didn't appreciate the shared graphics, and the screen had a horrible ghosting effect when moving windows.
So, my new MBP comes next week, I mean I won't know until I get it, but I was just hoping to have a basis of comparison. So if everyone could please enlighten me on two topics.
1.)Inconsistant backlighting / screen color
2.)Screen ghosting.

I sold mine for the same reasons.
1.)Inconsistant backlighting / screen color
Mine is working fine. Color is better than the MB, and fantastic for an LCD screen. I have the glossy screen.
2.)Screen ghosting.
Maybe a tad at times if you move the window fast, but nothing like the MB. Fans don't go ape like on the MB when doing something with video either. You will be real happy with it.

Just ordered a MBP C2D with 15" glossy screen. Can somebody please tell me if the screen looks the same as the one on the Macbooks?
I found a website showing a MBP next to a Sony Vaio and was just curious if that MBP is the glossy or antiglare.

The MacBook uses a pixel density of 114ppi
MacBook Pro 15" 110 ppi
MacBook Pro 17' 116 ppi
Hence the display on the 15" MacBook Pro isn't as sharp as the display on either the MacBook or the 17" MacBook Pro.
The 15" does also have a very noticeable anti-glare layer on the screen. This can be quite distracting when using the machine and has been posted as a grainy / shimmery issue on many threads on these forums.
Having changed my 15" for a 17" I have stopped looking at the 15" machines to see if the display has been resolved (hard to believe when Apple do not accept the 15" MBP C2D as having any display issues), maybe somebody can update us on that point? -

I have a MB core duo. When i tap with two fingers on the trackpad the right click options come up....this feature was not there in the MBP core duo 15 inch models
Does anybody know if this feature has been included in the new MBP C2D 15 inch models.

MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.7)It is true that the functionality was not available in the first versions of the MPB CD, but after the MB was introduced that did support the 2 finger right click, the MPB CD also got this feature.
This was not announced, but it is there -
Who has a good MBP C2D display?
Sincerely, I need to know from people of have a good MBP Core 2 Duo display.
Because I just went to a Best Buy (sadly, we don't have Apple Stores over here) and had a look at a MBP Core 2 Duo matte display. I could see the uneven illumination and the white brighter stripe at the bottom of the screen. And there seem to have lots of discussion concerning the display issues!
And comparing to an iMac 20"inch C2D display, the MBP C2D had nothing to envy.
Please post your comments and recommendations! (I'm hesitating for an MBP replacement between a new MBP C2D or iMac 20" inch. I'd be ready to give up portability to avoid big issues like uneven illumination.)I know you were asking if anyone does have a good MBP C2D screen.. but mine is pretty horrible. 17", uneven backlighting all over the place, and a very definite brighter bar along the bottom. also there are lots of 'pinched' areas around the edges where it seems like the display is fastened together, and there very bright patches in these areas.
I get used to it and mostly ignore it while working, but when you start up the machine and it's all grey, it's always a sudden reminder that this screen is awful. it's actually a bit embarrassing given that my machine is the absolute flagship laptop that apple are currently shipping. a director/3D animator friend who saw my machine for the first time the other day was impressed by everything about it, the design, the power, the silent performance.. but when I started it up again and he saw the restart grey screen, his jaw dropped.. 'omg, take it back, that is appalling' is what he said.. -
I just downloaded the new Firefox 4, rebooted, and viewed your videos re the new look and new features. Problem is, my toolbars look no different than before. The new icons you talk about do not appear on my screen. Please advise. Thank you.
The Firefox icon is the default feature for Windows Vista and 7 only, it does not apply to Windows XP users.
To have the Firefox icon instead of the Menu Bar:
View > Toolbars and UNCHECK the Menu Bar.
After that, click on the Firefox icon and you'll have the Menu Bar appear again.

The screen is frozen while installing software updates. Say about 2 minutes and it has been more than hour. How can I cancel or do something about it? Is it ok to unplugg it? Please advise.

It just started this evening when 4 hours before operation was working normally.
do not movie it, drop it, or what not, so you don't ask, it is one my my FCP editing iMacs.
did a techtool run, found nothing, even while it was happening.
PLEASE ADVISE as if it is a loose wire, a bad video card, or what?

MBP C2D Battery Issue (Please Need Information)
I recently bought a MBP C2D 2.16 Ghz 1gb RAM
ive read all stuff about the battery problemas mbp's have presented.
I have my mac about 3 weeks ago.
Until now battery seems to work well, and i haven't had any problem at all...
The only thing that worries me is that in what ive read it says the battery may present problems if cycles are under 300...
Mine has cycles of 30... What does that mean ?
Should I worry, should i ask for a replacement ?

* Battery is not recognized causing an “X” to appear in the battery icon in the Finder menu bar.
* Battery will not charge when computer is plugged into AC power.
* Battery exhibits low charge capacity/runtime when using a fully charged battery with a battery cycle count (as shown in System Profiler) of less than 300.
These symptoms
31 Charge cycles with Full charge capacity : 5323 is more than ok buddy. Better than my battery. -
After installing the above mentioned update, my ipad will no longer turn on. I have just a black screen with the apple logo when I attach it to a power source. Anyone else having this problem, please advise on how to fix.
IF RESET DOESN'T WORK, FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTunes and plug (very important)
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...

Hi, I have a 3 year old Macbook Pro 13" and I accidentally cracked the outer screen of my mac book, however the LCD panel is fine and works well. Please advise what to do. I live in India and I have gone to authorised Apple technicians and they infomed me that I will have to replace the LCD panel as well even though it is not cracked, is this really true or can I just change the outer shell? Also they say that they cannot do it in India... can I do it myself at home?
Since it is 3 years old find a local repair shop that can replace the glass Only. you may have to send it out to a Non Local shop for that but there are some that specialize in doiing that on Mac notebooks.
Apple will ony replace the complete screen enclosure with all normal parts included, LCD, Camera, Aluminum housing and glass as one unit. Which is very expensive. Or you could just use it as a desktop system with external monitor and buy a new notebook. -
i just updated my 3gs to iOS5 and it keeps on saying cannot activate iphone.. after searching videos how to activate it.. i can't tap my three fingers because there is no clock showing on my screen. how do i go about it? help please.

Hi, We have to display the fiscal year months (Like: Apr to Mar) in Line chart. We already design Query in BW and it is giving the output on fiscal year period (April to March). But in the dashboard it displays from Jan to Dec. We have not done any
