Worse 3G reception after 2.0.2

I applied the update, did a hard reboot of the phone, and headed out for the night. In places I was getting great 3G reception before the latest update, I am now hardly getting service. This is truly crazy. In my NYC apartment I had always got 3 -5 bars and now I am barely getting 3G. And, no, this is not a question of just the number of bars. Before the update I could make calls with very few drops in my apt and now I am getting "called failed" more times than not.

Same here in Jersey City. 2.0.2 broke our two iPhones!
Reliable 3G data is non-existent now.
The iPhone 3G, if you dare to turn on 3G, is superfast data for five minutes and then it just slowly degrades into non-responsiveness.
You can get it back by turning 3G off and then on again -- but who wants to do that every 20 minutes?
2.0.2 forced us to turn off 3G on both phones for good and I am at a loss for words (and data!) now.
What a mess.

  • G5 Quad - No Airport Reception After Upgrade - Software Issue

    Hi,
I've just installed a 'wireless upgrade kit' in my quad (yes, I know it says AASP install only but I did in anyway). Bluetooth is working fine but airport gives me no reception at all.
Now, after some poking around I became pretty convinced this was a software issue. The system I'm running on the quad has been cloned from that on my old DP 2.5 ghz G5. I tried a fresh install on an external disc from the install discs that came with the quad and, lo and behold, airport works like a dream!!
So my question is - is there any way to migrate whatever extensions (or whatever) I need from the 'clean' system to my 'cloned' system so I don't have to start everything from scratch? I've tried an 'archive and install' but still no reception after that so I guess whatever I need must be in one of the folders that was archived...
What software bits and bobs does airport require to work?
Can anyone help me out here?
    cheers

I never found a solution to this. Just had to reinstall everything from the discs that came with the Quad. Annoying.
But no airport reception can definitely be down to software!!

  • HT2417 my ihone 4s does not have good reception after i downloaded the new ios 6

my iphone does not have good reception after i upgrade the new ios6 version

no, and i have spent my entire spring break with a dead iphone 4s, no access to my iphone mail accounts, can't get into my text service app, and can't get into notes. oh yeah, all of my music is gone. thanks a bunch for this wonderful upgrade.
i am never upgrading again until i am sure all the bugs are out. this is a waste of my time and what's the use of having a cellphone if it only stays charged for two hours?
one of the apple forums said that iox is "expanvie" and gave us tips on how to lengthen battery life. i was already doing all that stuff. so it seemed to me that apple was just taking the stand that  ios is just more "expansive." this is lipservice hogwash. if that is the case, then we need to get new phones with batteries strong enough to accommodate running these power apps and updates.
my iphone makes a **** good coaster though. right now i am just ready to start sending smoke signals!

  • Nokia C7 poor 3.5g reception after version 013.016...

I notice a marked degradation in 3.5g reception after I updated my nokia c7 firmware to the 013.016.C04.01 version.
As a matter of fact, the 3.5g reception appears to be totally out of range for my c7 after the upgrade. This was not so before upgrade as I enjoyed on of the fastest browsing speeds in a long while.
The funny thing is that even my previous phone (nokia 3110c) has a remarkable 3g reception in this area.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and what could be the solution?
I dont see any option to revert to the previous version.
My phone was working great before this upgrade please someone help me out with any suggestion.
    Thanks.

I've noticed poor reception on my C7.... couldn't tell you if it happened after the firmware update or not as I didn't use the phone as a main phone until the PR1.1 (013.016) firmware came out to make the phone more stable.
On my old N86 I used to get 4-5bars of (2g) signal in my living room, but on the C7 there is a problem maybe abit like the iphone.... cos if I dont hold the phone I get 4-5 bars as soon as I hold the phone the bars drop down to 1bar...
I've found that I have to go upstairs again to have a call cause holding the phone seems to make the signal level go way down....
If I hold the phone whilst wearing a glove the signal doesn't go down as much... but still goes down by 2bars to about 2-3bars...
Can anyone from nokia help or is it another design fault?? and I should give up and go back to my N86???
    advice nokia? please?

  • What can I do to restore good wifi reception after upgrading Snow Leopard

My situation is similar to what is described by others, but different enough that I thought starting a new thread might help.  I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard (10.6.3) in January.  All was good.  As new upgrades came out I conscientiously updated my software.  Then about 4-6 weeks ago I noticed that I could not get wireless in some areas of my house, further from my router, where I used to able to get fine reception, and where other computers in the house still worked fine.  The other computers are a MacBook Pro (running 10.6.8 but now just updated to Lion) and an iBook G4 (10.4.11).  I also noticed that when I streamed video it was choppy, even if I used an ethernet cable.
I decided to reinstall from the CD (10.6.3) and that worked; all internet was back to normal.  Then I updated to 10.6.8.  Problem came back immediately. Reinstalled 10.6.3 and all was normal.  Upgraded to 10.6.4 still normal.  Updated to 10.6.5 problem back.  Went back to 10.6.3 and back to normal.
I have tried repairing permissions and some of the other suggestions I have found here, but nothing works.  The only way to get decent wifi reception throughout my house is to go back to the CD and reinstall.   I see lots of people saying that after upgrading to later versions of Snow Leopard they lose wireless, but no one says they just lose wireless at greater distances from the router.  I am using a Westell 327W ADSL modem router (802.11g) and I am connecting to the internet on Verizon DSL.
I would like to upgrade to Lion but I heard that this does not help with the Wifi issues others have reported, so would like to get this sorted out before upgrading.
    Please help.

The solution given by Tenortim fixed my problem.  Thank you Tenortim

It is a little difficult.  You have to be able to use Terminal to do step 3.  Fortunately, my son was able to explain some of the details.  The rest is straightforward.
I wish Apple would not include the new firmware without making sure it worked.  I suppose if I upgrade to Lion, which I would like to do, I will have to go through the process again.  For now I will stick with 10.6.8 and the Airport driver from 10.6.4, since that is working great.

  • Really bad wifi reception after upgrade to 10.6.7

    Hey.
to make a long story short - after installing 10.6.0 on a MacBook2,1 (i think "mid-2007") everything's ok - but if i upgrade to 10.6.7 (either with built-in software-update or downloaded combo-update) the WiFi reception is really bad. in numbers -50dBm with 10.6.0 vs. -82dBm runnin 10.6.7 (everything on a clean system and exact the same location in the room) i tried it with two different networks both Linksys WRT54 routers running dd-wrt and openwrt.
    i don't know what i can do -.-

I don't know for sure that it will help but it won't hurt to reset the SMC.
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
    Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • Bad Reception After VoLTE Update

Ever since I update the Turbo with the VoLTE update, my call reception dropped significantly.  However, the reception gets better once I turn off the Advanced Calling feature.  Anyone else have this problem?  Any fixes?  Suggestions?

I'm having the same trouble as well. Call reception is horrible at my home after getting the volte update an enabling advanced calling.
I think the issue is that I have half a bar of 4g at home and thats not enough of a signal for advanced calling. Turning advanced calling of helps but then I can't have mobile data during a phone call when I'm back in good 4g quality areas.   If I'm home and the phone switched to 3g the quality is better, I think because advanced calling isn't in use.

  • Terrible reception after Jelly Bean update

The morning after upgrading to Jelly Bean my phone suddenly began having terrible reception issues.  At home I normally get about 2-3 bars but I have never had any issues getting calls out or in or texting... Now I get one bar and absolutely cannot call out or text out AT ALL...  I can receive texts, but I get no calls.  Sometimes it will say that I have no service, even when I have one or two bars...
Even when I drive closer to town I can't call out until I get 4 or 5 bars...  even then reception is poor and calls are dropped for no reason.  Literally this phone has gone from working beautifully to being absolutely worthless as a phone.  Wireless still works fine at home and I still get 3G/4G service...  It also always says I'm Roaming at home or if I have less than 3 bars...
I have tried *228 and even reset the phone to factory defaults with a full wipe.  No beuno...  Obviously I've tried numerous reboots as well...
I'm not sure if the Jelly Bean update is a coincedence, but something is definitely up with my phone...
    Suggestions?

Javaslinger, I'm sad to see that you've developed signal issues on your phone after the software update. Updates should bring enhancements and fix bugs, not cause issues. It looks like you've done quite a bit of troubleshooting already. If you have a battery saver, please uninstall as these can turn off data to save battery, causing signal issues.
If still having issues, we'll need to submit more info to our product team.
    1) Provide network type and network strength details observed on phone, Menu>Setting>About Phone> Phone status> network type and network strength parameters.
    2) What type of network service issues are observed on device? Like call drop, browsing failures, SMS etc..
    3) Do you see any flickering in "network type" icon at the time of issue happened.
    4) Is the issue random / always ?
    5) Is the issue limited to a location/region or does he have problem everywhere you visit?

  • Bad iBook G4 WiFi reception after hard-drive swap

I just replaced the hard drive in my iBook G4 with a larger one. Everything works fine except that the WiFi only works in close proximity to our Airport Extreme Router. Our other 2 current Macs and our 2 iPhones continue to have good WiFi connections. The iBook G4 had good WiFi reception before I changed out the hard drive. The stock Airport Extreme antenna connector is well-seated, and the plug and jack look fine. I disassembled the iBook and traced the antenna wiring to see I could spot any anaomolies.

    Thanks, Ronda!
I just swapped the Apple M8881LL/A AirPort Extreme Card in my Power Mac G5 and my iBook G4. Both cards work perfectly in the G5. The "new" card works a little better in the iBook G4, but not anywhere near its performance in the G5 or the original AirPort card in the iBook before the hard-drive swap.
The antenna was treated with great care in the disassemblies, so I don't think it was damaged from that. What does the antenna connect to inside the iBook? Could it be that it's not making contact on one of the shields?
    Any help is much appreciated!

  • My wifi had very poor reception after installing the new iOS 7? I think

Ipad probs with my DMQJRB2YF18Y model A1460 fccid BCGA1460
I Have done sll the reset, check router, blablabla .... Even went to mcD and could not connect there. I have reception, close ( where I can see router) 3 bars, far ...next level of house (where it used to work)  the small little dot of the 3 bars. .??
    My wife has a ipad2
    I have an ipad3
She has reception without a problem any distance from router.
I had reception anywhere in the hose, but now I must be within line of sight to have wifi.
I never dropped, changed or did anything hut upgrade the software when Apple said i should.
My ipad is now nothing more than my biggest frustration
I have done everything i could find, like switch off both the pad and router, reset ipad, forget  network, delete history, delete cookies, etc etc .....
Apple tries to blame the problem on the user or the environment ..... Only problem .... We have 2 devices, of which one is very happy and one is very bad bad bad to say the least!-

  • No reception after cracked back

    HI!
So I recently bought my mates iPhone 4 off him for cheap because the reception doesn't work. It has a cracked back glass on it due to being dropped. Thing is though, if I toy around with the antenna in the back, it comes up with "searching" often, and today I even managed to get 2 or 3 bars of reception for about 10 minutes, then I lost it since. Would this be an antenna issue for certain? I took it to a mobile repair shop and they said it has water damage, which could be the culprit, and if so then it is unfixable. But they can replace the antenna for $50 and this would be worth it, if I was sure it would work afterwards.. which they weren't. What's your guys opinion?

If a "mobile phone repair shop" touches it Apple will no longer provide service or support for the iPhone or here from this Apple hosted Forum
If you Take it to an Apple Store genius bar they would exchange for an identical factory refurbished model under the Out of Warranty programme ,$149

  • No Reception After Update - 6500 Slide

Hi, I'm new to the forum, but have done a search and haven't found anything similar.
Basically, the phone was working ok, apart from occassionally restting the ringtone or wallpaper, so I applied a software update through Nokia Software Updater. However, since the update, my phone has no signal! I want to try and go back to the original software, or if there is anything I can do to get the phone to work on the new software, then please help! (SIM works fine in another phone)

Thanks, will try that. Do I just use the backup tool in Nokia suite for the backup? or is there more to backup when reformatting the phone?
Also, after reformat, what will happen? Will it go into factory setting and original version of software?? Sorry for the questions, but phone's are not my strong point
