Worse Phone I ever had, drops calls on average 20 time a day

I have never experienced a phone that drops calls so many times, 9 times on the last call alone.  VERY FRUSTRATING. Does anyone else have the same experience, and can anyone offer suggestions?

What network are you on? Have you contacted them? Have you had your phone checked for a hardware fault?
For what its worth, my iPhone 3GS has never dropped a call on O2 in the two years since I've had it, so maybe yours has a fault.

I know a lot of people with iphone 5 and have never heard them complain about top button always brake and screen that decides to pop off or the back of their case is bending.
That sounds like a phone that has been dropped a numerous times.

  • My IPhone 6 with AT&T is dropping 5-10 calls a day. Calling from same location as my 5S which never had dropped calls. Is this a hardware or software issue?

My IPhone 6 128GB with current software using AT&T is dropping 5-10 calls a day. I am calling from an office with good signal strength and in the same location as i did with my 5S which almost never had dropped calls. Is this a hardware or software issue? Is this a common issue with the new IPhones?

    Hi jackneedshelp,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If calls are not going through on your iPhone 6, I recommend going through the troubleshooting method found at this link:
iPhone: Troubleshooting issues making or receiving calls - Apple Support
These steps can help identify and resolve the symptom that might be causing the connection issue.
    All the best,
    Jeremy

  • THe BEST phone I ever had....Nokia 1100 - Nokia, p...

I have just had to pay SILLY money for a Nokia 1100 - the BEST phone I ever had.  PLEASE, Nokia, re-release this excellent phone....for me, what's done is done, but, please make this phone available for others...I cannot reccomend the Nokia 1100 HIGHLY ENOUGH.  The fact that people are now sheling out £££ speaks vulumes....
Here is my Amazon review for this EXCELLENT phone....
"I am someone who likes things exactly so. For a lot of things, basic doesn't do it for me.
For example, I won't use anything but the highly customisable Firefox (with Adblock Plus, Noscript, Stylish and Social Fixer add-ons), to get the web just the way I want.
You know what? As far as mobiles go, this IS just the way I want already.
    Here are the reasons...
    * Simple and easy to use
    * Old style monochrome viewer, with a backlight, which means that, unlike basically every other phone on the market, whatever the time of day...indoors, outdoors, day, night, the display is always - ALWAYS easy to read.
    * It has a 'Loud' profile. As someone who is slightly hard of hearing, this means that I absolutely always hear when someone rings me or texts me.
    * Unlike a lot of other phones, the alarm clock is loud enough to actualy wake me up.
    * Rounded keys...meaning that I don't struggle to type someone's number.
    * Durable. I have had this model for over 5 years, in that time, it's been on the roof of a car that's driven off, falen on concrete from 10 foot, been with me when I've fallen over drunk countless times, and who knows what else...and it still works perfectly.
    * Long battery life. I only have to charge it once every 12-14 days.
    * It's basic, so won't get nicked. It's fallen out of my pocket in pubs, clubs and at a party, and I've always had it back.
Three times, I have 'upgraded' when I've been flush, and three times, I've come back to my trusty Nokia 1100.
I cannot rate this phone highly enough. Shame on Nokia for discontinuing it..."

As far as what people want from phones nowadays is concerned...I accept that, but, there are plenty f us out there who want a phone to be - A PHONE - it's not rocket science. I spand ages online - but, through my PC - where I can see hings properly, and with Firefox add-ons, Adblock Plus and Noscript, I'm safer than safe, and don't get to see any capitalist rubbish. Also, the fact that prices for the Nokia 1100 are rising, and rising rapidly...that, to me, suggests something...myself, I've bought a second one just as a backup...my first one lasted me well over a decade before I lost it...so, I reckon these wil last me well into my life...

  • Regarding "Dropping call state without timer" error

    Hi,
I am using WLSS-3.1-MP1 on Solaris 10 in a clustered environment.
I see following error in engine tier console log.
*[1259525001295] [CallState] : Dropping call state without timer: [email protected]*
First and last string varies with each error.
Any idea what this error is for ? Didn't find anything in documentation about this.
    Thanks,
    KeDar

Thanks for your reply, Anurag !!
There isn't any known communication issue between engine and data tiers.
None of the Engine Tier JVMs was shut down.
If I want to look further into the possibility of "Engine tier un-responsive for long time", would you please give any details as whats considered as long time etc..
In console log, I don't see anything else around this message, thats related to the error.
A quick search in engine's server log files also didn't give any info.
Also, can I safely assume that this error won't cause any trouble if another engine tier instance picks up the call ?
    Thanks again,
    KeDar

  • Airport Extreme drops internet connection several times a day

I have an AE that is about 3 years old and it has worked great until the last two weeks or so. Over the last few weeks it will be working fine and then drop my connection for no reason. I will get an amber light on the AE although the cable modem stays connected. It is as if the AE is rebooting itself about a dozen times a day for no reason. I was looking around a bit and I see several things in the log at the same time that say:
    Jul 10 10:09:47 Severity:5 Connection accepted from fe80::21c:b3ff:fe71:762f%bridge0:49424.
but I am not sure what (if anything) that means. I have a Mac, Win & PC, XBox, PS3, Two IPhones, and an IPad connected to it if any of that matters. I also make sure the AE is sitting out in the open with plenty of airflow to stay cool.
What do I need to do to make the connection more stable? Is there a way of reloading the firmware on the AE to see if that will help?
    Thank you for any help.

ElksSS01, I have the EXACT same problem with my Airport Extreme but, I am 100% certain it is my service provider... The problems started for me back in March of this year, I've replaced my cable modem 3 times, Bought a new Belkin Router (didn't work either), had technicians come out to my house 4 times and FINALLY they found that they are reading voltage on the COAX line into my house, they traced it all the way back to their junction box in my neighbor hood so I asked my neighbors if they were having similar issues with the same service provider, which they were... So now I am back to using my Airport Extreme again, but using the Logs to keep track of how many times the connection drops...
When your internet goes down, try observing the cable modem, there should be a CABLE LED indicator, if it is not on SOLID while your connection fails then it is more than likely your service provider... Below is exactly what happens to mine...
    1) no connectivity from any device, wired or wireless
    2) cable light on modem turns completely off
    3) cable light begins to blink
    4) cable modem reestablishes a connection to the internet
    5) AE light goes from solid green to blinking orange for 2-3 seconds
    6) AE light goes back to solid green and all is well, for about 45 minutes in my case
I would definitely do what Bob Timmons sad above as I also thought it was my router and jumped the gun to buy a new one, only to find out it wasn't my router after all... Before you replace your AE though, I would check with your service provider... In my case, whenever I called them they said that my modem and everything looked fine on their end... In the event their is voltage getting fed back into your modem via the COAX, the only way they will be able to tell is by checking the lines, and tracking it back to where ever the faulty equipment is located...
Here is what I am dealing with, this crap gets VERY annoying... (removed ISP address for obvious reasons) and this isn't my entire log, actually it isn't even a quarter of it... Every day, I drop a connection at least 20 times... The log I keep is NOTHING but what you see below...

  • Westell 7500 drops DSL connection several times a day

Okay so ive had this problem for several weeks and ive about had it with verizon.
everything started off fine at first i had the modem bridged to my netgear router (because its a crap shoot and not powerful enough to run 2 xbox's and hardly 1) and for two weeks it was good till my house was struck by lightning and my router broke. i purchased the same router and reset the westell 7500 and bridged it again.
NOW for the past month about 3-4 times a day my dsl light on my westell will go from solid to flashing and all of sudden drop both me and everyone on my connection.
I have talked to several crappy tier 2 reps, and tier 3's with no fix still.

  • Severe drop connection (10-12 times a day) and slow internet

Hello, I am getting very frequent dropped connections (between 10-12 a day). My internet connection is very slowwwwwww. I cannot even stream a YouTube video without pausing it and waiting about 10 minutes for the video to completely load before playing it. Most websites take over 30 seconds to load and some won't load at all because it says that it timed out. I have tried using IE8 and Google Chrome and Firefox....the same result on all browsers. I am running a brand new Verizon GT701C modem and a brand new Belkin 926 router. I am hard wired into the Belkin. I bought a new modem and router because I thought maybe my equipment was too dated, but I am still having the same severe problems. I feel like I am on dial -up all over again. Thanks in advanced for any help.  Here is the system log report from my modem :

  • Conference using phone Built in Bridge dropping calls

I have a client that is having an issue using the confrn softkey.  Here are the steps that are happening.
    User is on a call
    User presses confrn button
    User diales number
    New participant answers the phone
    User presses confrn button again
    Call gets dropped.
Not sure why this is happening as I have not seen this before.  All participents are using g711.  and the Built in Bridge option is enabled on the phone.

Really did BIB used to be used for that cause I thought it was.
Yes they do have a software CFB setup and it is still having this issue.  They have also discovered that if the press the conf button the second time while the phone is still ringing then it works.

  • Nokia N97 - faultiest phone ive ever had

Hi guys im new to the forum and its interesting to see just how many people are suffering with issues with their n97. How Nokia have managed to release a phone as buggy as this is unbelievable. I will never buy another Nokia, there are issues with EVERY software update, alarm doesnt work, keypad freezes, unlock/lock doesnt work, cant open SMS, memory always saying it is full. How is it possible to release such a bad phone? Why are they still not capable of fixing the problems?

    @markmacdonnel
Nokia are defently one of the best companys to follow up their phones. Samsung and SE does hardly make updates at all.
Around on different forums you will find people complaining about any phone on the market. Today I read a few posts about the desire freezing and rebooting and peeps wishing they had never bought it.
If you buy a HTC with WM for instance, you will likely feel that it's a xtremely heavy and have a lot of wierd bugs or are non userfriendly. - Giving some time on XDA dev. site, you will find ways to tweak and do whatever you like with it, but it needs some effort.
I have an Iphone my self, which works flawlessly, but I have friends who also have a lot of problems with theirs. - Freezes, reboots, and gpu burn to death.
What I'm saying is that there are faults and issues with every brand and every model.
Nokia sells a enormous amount of devices every year, from cheap basic phones to expensive N and E series devices. Apple have one phone to work with which the majority won't afford. Iphone is great, but Nokia is "bleep" great too.
Take the HTC HD2 which has extremely great hardware, unfortunately a lot of users have now gone almost a year with problems of sms's beeing stuck in the outbox... I've read a "few" comments about that for sure - It was far more expensive than the n97...
Don't misunderstand me, I know that the n97 has been a pain for a lot of users, and I do understand your frustration, but the point is, you find it everywhere... Dell computers, HP computers, gps's, phones, tv's.
Now, if you want to, I and many more here would like to help you with your issues, and perhaps get it to work like it has worked a few months!?
You say it has been working for a few months... Do you remember doing anything to it right before it started to misbehave? - Installing any 3rd party apps, deleteing anything, change settings etc?

  • WRV54G drops VPN tunnels several times a day.

Help I have a WRV54G with 6 VPN tunnels all going across DSL. Each 1 of the tunnels will just drop and reconnect for no reason at some point maybe not at the same time but constantly. The other side of the tunnels are also WRV54G's. All 6 tunnels are connected together at each location and only their tunnels to me drop and not to anyone else. Any help would be appreciated. Tech support sent me a so called beta load of 2.39.12 but that did not help at all. I also loaded that same load to one of the routers and that tunnel still drops as well as the others.

I've had this wrv54g for several years now and it's never worked properly.
As a router and wireless access point it's ok but using it to connect to my vpn at the
server (befvp41) it's useless. I bought it to test for a company I work for but because of the problem with maintaining a vpn connection I cannot recommend it.
I can establish the tunnel and it will work for a while but if I leave it alone for a while
the tunnel stops working. Both ends show connected but you cannot pass anything thru the tunnel. I have to reset the client end in order to get it to work again. The one thing I haven't tried is getting a static ip at the client end.
I use befvp41's and befsx41's and they work fine... A bit slow but they stay connected.
I've ended up using it on my network because I hate to waste money but it really is a PITA. whenever I have to use the vpn to check the server I have to log on to the router and disconnect and then reconnect the vpn before I can work.
The internet connection doesn't drop out just the vpn stops working.
The Linksys tech support was no help whatsoever.

  • IPhone 5 drops calls as fast as my confidence in Verizon

I've been a happy Verizon wireless subscriber for roughly the past 7 years. I've always had LG flip phones, and in that time have had perhaps 2 dropped calls. In July 2013, I upgraded to an Apple iPhone 5 16GB in black. As each day passes, and my iPhone 5 drops more and more calls, my regret about the poor choice I made in accepting Verizon's offer to upgrade, exponentially increases.
I live in the same home as I did with all of my LG flip phones that performed flawlessly on the Verizon Network. Never was there a dropped phone call. I transmitted a great deal of data via text and picture messaging with out any significant or frequent slowdowns in speed. I never had problems in the timely receipt of my incoming texts. When I turn on either of my old LG phones and place them next to my Apple iPhone 5, they all match, showing 2 or 3 bars of service and LTE.
Conversely, my regrettable, disappointing, and obviously flawed Apple iPhone 5 does outperform all others when it comes to call dropping dependability. I can count on my iPhone to drop 100% of the incoming and outgoing calls, 100% of the time in my bedroom and in my home office. The rest of my home is about a 70/30 crap shoot in favor of it eventually dropping the call where none were ever dropped in the prior 7 years of my Verizon service using LG phones. People will send me text messages over the span of hours, or a day, and they appear to stack up somewhere until I receive an incoming phone call which pushes all of them through at the same moment as the phone begins to ring. Never had that problem before. People will phone me, and I never hear my phone ring or receive a missed call notification. Hours later my iPhone will suddenly go off with the voice mail notification, all the while between showing 2 or 3 bars of reception when I check the phone wondering why expected calls haven't called me, yet. Short of having to walk outside, trying to have a voice conversation on my iPhone 5 reminds me of the old days, and the family having to get into those awkward "TV viewing positions" and holding old style TV antennas and aluminum foil just to get a favorite station to come in better. Thanks to my Apple iPhone 5, I have to do the same "assume the position" when trying to send any picture or large data files.
No, I do not have a case on, or around my phone.
Yes, I keep my iPhone 5 in the same indoor locations that worked well for LG, and have looked for other "convenient" places to locate them for potentially better reception, with no luck.
I am located in zip code 98663.
The 4G coverage map indicates my location is deep within Verizon's  "supposed" coverage area.
I've done the recent IOS 7.0.4 software upgrade, and I think it got worse afterwards, if possible.
All 3 roaming functions are enabled.
I've tested the device in multiple places in and out of the house. It does NOT drop calls outside and data is faster, HOWEVER the iPhone continues to register the same 2 or 3 bars of reception outside as it does inside, including LTE.
I do not power cycle daily, but I do power cycle often.
I have tried resetting the Network Settings in the past.
When others are in my home and are serviced by Sprint and AT&T and others, I can use their non-Apple, non-Verizon, phones, and have ZERO DROPPED CALLS indoors.
I've been told I need one of those $250 network extenders. HAHAHAHA!!! Never had one problem in 7 years in the same house on the Verizon wireless network prior to my poor decision to accept Verizon's upgrade offer. Why, exactly, is it my responsibility to pay $250 to fix a problem that has clearly resulted from either a phone that is lacking in quality that Verizon (ironically?) "upgraded" me to into, a wireless network that is inadequately designed in my area to be compatible with some of the products Verizon sells, or both.
This whole nightmare has severely diminished my confidence in Verizon's commitments to both quality and customer care. I sincerely hope that this plea for help from Verizon will bring an acceptable resolution and restoration of my confidence that Verizon is still willing to defend it's once good reputation, and is the wireless provider that I should be proud to be a member of, for the rest of my life. Hate to jump ship, but if there is no loyalty towards customers, why stay?
    Thank you.

    KinquanaH_VZw:
Thank you for the reply to my concerns.
I have not had a trouble ticket created over this problem. Since the iPhone 5 continuously drops calls, I have not tried to call *611 from it due to the long hold times. Early on, I made several attempts from my land line to call the 800-922-0204 number for customer service. After holding for up to 20 minutes on different days of the week and at different times of the day and never reaching an agent I became frustrated and chose to live with the problem, realizing that Verizon would be of no help to me. When I finally became disgusted with the call dropping, and related poor reception issues, I decided to research the problem, read what others had experienced, how they coped, what  problems they specifically reported,  how they communicated their problems, how they were treated by Verizon, and finally what solutions were offered by Verizon, and the ability of those solutions to improve the problem to the satisfaction of the complaining/unhappy customers.
From what I was able to dig up, it appeared that replacing the iPhone was successful in satisfying the customers issues with call dropping less than 10% of the time. Statistically speaking, I felt that replacing one iPhone for another would be a waste of my time. Besides, if I can't get through to customer service on the phone, requesting a replacement is the least of my concerns.
You mention some other things that can affect service:
-Location of tower - Lived in same home for almost 50 years. Unless you moved the tower the day I activated my iPhone and deactivated my LG Chocolate (which received flawless reception in my home). I doubt that is the problem.
-Building structure - Again lived here for almost 50 years. It has not changed since the LG had flawless reception and the iPhone has been less than satisfactory.
-Weather - In the 4 years with the LG Chocolate we had about every type of weather that is typical for this region, and never a problem. In the 6 months I've had the iPhone, the weather here has been pretty consistent and good and there is no noticeable difference to the constant call dropping.
-Tower congestion - Admittedly there were consistent blocks of time Monday-Friday that I did notice the LG slow a bit on data transmission, and attributed it to tower congestion. However, even at minimal usage times, such as 2, or 3, or 4 AM, the iPhone still is quite reliable in it's ability to drop calls and transmit data slowly.
In addition to the above things that can affect service, please keep this in mind, I have friends with smart phones on other networks, specifically Sprint and At&T. When they visit my home, I am quite envious of their reception, even when putting the phones side by side in worst spots in my home, theirs outperform mine in every test I have asked them humor me by doing. Other friends with Verizon smart phones that are not Apple products, receive better phone and data service/reception in my house than I do, but not as good as those with other providers.
From the data I was able to research, customer complaints and resolutions, and comparisons of reception in my home before and after the iPhone and with other providers, I concluded this:
Were I someday able to get through to customer service, I would be willing to jump through the hoops, as I am now, so that you can verify and collect what ever technical data you need regarding this problem.
Ultimately, I would be offered the same choice, or two, as all others having the same problem with their iPhone as I am. Exchange it for another iPhone, which is unsuccessful about 90% of the time, and/or I should purchase at my own expense a network extender. If I, and others, had always had poor reception/service in my home, I would have no problem paying for one. Since the case is the other way around, I decided to be proactive about my feelings on having to purchase one, resulting in my plea for help on the message board.
I do apologize for the length of my message, but I wanted to try to cover all of the potential questions that would be posed to me in an effort to look for causes that would eliminate the iPhone or the signal quality provided by Verizon of any blame.
Anyway, I am happy to have you open a trouble ticket and to answer any questions that anyone needs to ask, and do what needs to be done to find a solution. If you were unable to locate my account through my user name or email address I will provide that information below so that you can get started. If there is anything that involves asking a lot of questions, I suggest it be done via email, as over the phone will probably even frustrate the technician or CSR who has to call me back 20 times to complete the questions due to call dropping.
I sincerely hope that you are able to find a mutually beneficial solution to this problem.
    Thank you,

  • Repeated dropped calls...again :-(

Lately, I've been experiencing a high number of dropped calls. I have had this happen in the past, and the agent asked me to call (I believe) *52-but seeing as though I have forgotten the * code, I didn't want to do anything else to further jeopardize my service. But service has been getting worse lately with all the dropped calls, on 2 of 2 lines I have. And , sometimes, when I get through, (separate issue lately) either I can hear the other party good and they cant hear me or vice versa and yes, I have tried restarting the phones as I was told to do when I first brought this to Verizon's' attention; but that seems to be only a quick fix. Yesterday, during a conversation with my mother, the call was lost. I looked at the screen and it said no signal, then no sim, them 5 of 5 bars, all within seconds.

I would start by visiting a VZW corporate store and getting them to change your SIM card.
