Worst case scenario going on,..

okay my old computer had itunes, but now its gone.everything was wiped out.no more itunes, and i didnt have any of my songs, photos, videos backed up. my ipod still has everything in it (thank god) and i just downloaded itunes a couple of minutes ago. Now i changed the settingss so tht itunes wouldnt automatically sync the emmpty library with the ipod. and im trying to drag and drop the files from my ipod to the library, but it wont let me. Is there i can do this,or am i stuck this way?
also,i have my ipod conected right now,and its showing its summary page, and at the bottom it says 'sync",if i click that will all my content dissappear?or will all of it get transferred to itunes?

I've never used that utility. I actually paid for this one
http://www.zeleksoftware.com/liberator.htm
because I it works well and has a few extra features, such as saving playlists.
But yamiPod probably works the same way. The utility probably asks for a location to put the files. Select a place that you can easily access later, in your hard drive. Let the utility do it's thing and copy the files to that location.
Once it is done, spot check the location to confirm the files are there. Then run iTunes. First, go to preferences Advanced tab to check two things. The checkbox for +Keep iTunes Music folder organized+ should be checked, as well as the one for +Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library+. If those options are checked, when you add the songs to the iTunes library, iTunes will make a copy and put it into your designated +iTunes Music+ folder AND organize the song files by Artist and then by Album. iTunes will access the copied music files from the +iTunes Music+ folder going forward.
To get the songs files into your iTunes library, open a Windows Explorer (or My Computer) window to show the location where yamiPod placed the files. Drag the folder with all the files from that window and drop it onto an open iTunes window; drop it onto the main pane that shows your Music LIBRARY. iTunes should look for all the music files in that folder and put them into your iTunes library (as well as copy the files to your +iTunes Music+ folder).
Once iTunes finishes, you should spot check your +iTunes Music+ folder to makes sure the files are there. You can also do a +Get Info+ on a few random songs, and make sure their files are stored in your +iTunes Music+ folder.

  • Worst case scenario for spam update error

    hi friends
i need to know what is the worst case scenario if our support package stack update(SPAM) process fails. I am asking this question because we dont have a DR system.I mean we dont have test server to check our restore & recovery. We have ECC 5.0 and our SPAM updates are long overdue. I need to convince the management to prioritize this activity and my boss thinks that since we dont have test server if anything goes wrong then we might have to restore the db which he is not in favor of.
i would really help if you could provide me some suggestions.
    thanks in advance.
    regards

    Hello Nathan,
Very first you need to convince your management that since you didn't had the Support package update in your system actually you are not having the latest corrections available in the system. As per Best practise you should keep the systems to the latest available support package levels.
Now, to your question.Support package update is a easy but critical activity. Easy because it is bit effortless and critical because major changes are involved with the corrections. UPdate for BASIS support package can bring your system to HIghly unstable state (I am just talking about Worst case scenarios) as they update the system basis tables. Application component packages if aborted due to some errors can have problems in the business cycles.
So anyways you'll have to keep proper backup of your system available just to make sure if, by chance you are not able to complete the SP update under the given downtime window you should have the possibility to restore and release the systems to the business users.
This will not be the new thing you'll be doing as majority of the customers don't have DR server to the rescue.
You can discuss with your team and decide a suitable backup strategy.
    I hope it helps.
    Best Regards

  • HT5787 How can I recover my password if my account is blocked and I have no access to my email? And, worst case scenario, I forgot the answers for security questions? How can I proceed further?

    Hi,
How can I recover or re-activate my password if my account is blocked and I have no access to my email adress associated with my apple id, and worst case scenario, I forgot the answers for security questions...
    Thanks,

    I forgot my  password
Go to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with your iCloud login. A new password will be sent to your associated email address. If this doesn't work you will have to contact Support. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com; click' See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'.
I forgot my security answers and have no rescue email
Go to https://getsupport.apple.com click 'See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'.

  • Worst case scenario backup?

I have a general question about backing up my files. I currently have an external hard drive connected to my iMac. I keep my work files on my internal hard drive and time machine backs them up to my external hard drive which is always connected. If I ever had a lightning strike (which my neighbor just had), I would most likely lose both in one shot. Of course I'm also using a surge protector on that outlet, but really don't know how reliable those are with lightning. With approx. 20 gb of files, is iCloud storage a better option? Since these files are constantly edited, would that take forever to keep uploading revisions?

With SugarSync you can select any folders on your Mac to sync. It does block-level incremental uploading which makes uploading changed files a very quick process. Changes to the folders are automatically detected while the program is running and uploaded - a remarkably quick process as only the individual blocks of a file which has changed are uploaded
It doesn't have a background process: you leave the application running (it appears in the menu bar) - the Preferences give you the choice of having it run automatically at startup. There is a free 5GB plan: paid plans start at $4.99 per month ($49.99 p.a.) for 30GB. It's received good reviews: I've been using it and found it's flexible and easy to use; it would be my choice of the available methods.
(I have no connection with this company.)
Some other online services are examined here: http://rfwilmut.net/missing3
This is useful in case of a disaster like a fire or a lightning strike, but you would also be advised to do local backups, particularly as there is a practical limit to the amount of data you can reasonably store online. A clone is useful as you can boot up from it if the internal disk fails: if you want to be ultra-cautious you could alternate two and keep one off-site.

  • Worst case scenario: Dead HDD, no backup. What can I do?

    Hello,
So today was not a good day. My Macbook's HDD just upped and died, for no apparent reason. It was working as normal, shut down, it hangs, I restart, and I see a "?" and if I put my ear very close to the Macbook, I can hear faint clicking repeatedly. I took it to the Apple store and my nightmare was confirmed.
Here's the thing: they won't get the replacement HDD until Wednesday, and they offered to attempt to get the data off my old HDD for $150. I said no, thinking I had made backup DVD+R's at home. Turns out, I really didn't
At this point, I would indeed have them try to salvage my data for $150, but the HDD is sitting here right next to me, and if I shake it I can hear something rattling around. I have memories of a broken spindle arm of a iPod. I'm thinking that this is not salvageable.
What do you guys think? I have until Wednesday, as they told me once the new HDD comes in, I have to give them the old one back. Can Apple indeed do it? What if they can't? Anyone else?
    Thanks much.

Hi, sorry to hear about your problem. There are several ways you can try and recover your files. One way is to purchase a utility like DataRescue 2 that may be able to recover your information. The other is like was said before, have apple or someone else try and do it for you at a high price. One way that you may not have heard or tried (its very old) is to remove the hard drive from the macbook and put it in ziplock bag (make sure its well sealed) and then put the bag in you freezer for a while. Then remove the bag, and reinstall your hard drive, restart and try to copy the data from it to another hard disk. Here is a link to research this in google: http://www.google.com/search?q=harddisk+infreezer&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
    Anyway good luck,and regards

  • Typical business case scenarios for SharePoint 2013 Apps

What are the typical real time business case scenario for 1. SharePoint Hosted apps 2. Auto Hosted apps 3. provider hosted Apps? Why people choose any of this model apps model in comparison to typical On-Premise solution?
Another question comes is when should one go for On-Premise solution rather than Apps? What are real time scenarios?

Let's discuss first whether to develop apps or full trust solution.
Talking about technical aspect, On-Premise solution is popular choice for organizations who have SharePoint hosted on premise (not SharePoint Online). However, if you are using SharePoint Online, there's no choice except Apps (and possibly sandbox but deprecated).
So for SharePoint Online only viable solution is developing apps. However for on-premise you can develop full trust or apps. However since apps requires a bit more configuration and not yet full feature set as you can do with full trust, most people are still
developing full trust solution on premise.
Talking about business requirement at hand, you can develop apps (even in on-premise), if your requirement is really looks like an app. For example, you would like to develop a SharePoint solution, that will show data from SAP inside SharePoint. The solution
mostly nothing to do with SharePoint but calling SAP services to perform stuffs. So you can develop an apps and deploy inside SharePoint. Another example is import CSV files in SharePoint list, you can write an apps. But mostly I think you need to decide whether
to develop apps depends on the Apps API ability. The API is still very limited in features/functionalities. So even if your requirement looks like apps you can't develop apps if the current SharePoint Apps API doesn't support the functionality.
Now let's talk about which apps model you would like to use SharePoint Hosted apps means everything hosted inside SharePoint and no other external infrastructure is required. One example is the CSV file upload apps. However, with SharePoint hosted apps,
you can't use C# rather you just have javascript to develop the apps. There's rumours that auto hosted apps will be deprecated not sure but there's not more conceptual difference apart from where the apps is hosted (both hosted outside SharePoint). Provider/auto-hosted
apps will be running outside SharePoint (i.e., in IIS web site), and communicate to SharePoint through REST or client object model. One provider hosted apps in the office app market is adlib pdf conversion. The apps allows you to select multiple files and
covert them to pdf file. Basically the conversion site is hosted somewhere outside (in the provider's infrastructure). When you select all the files and click 'convert' from ribbon user is redirected to the provider site (different url) and the files are merged
and converted to pdf. Since it's outside of sharepoint, you can use any development language (C#, java, php etc.). The provider hosted app talks to sharepoint through REST or client object model.
So in summary, sharepoint hosted app has less complexity as it doesn't require another infrastructure and runs inside sharepoint. However you are limited to use only javascript to develop your apps. On the other hand with provider hosted apps, you can use
any development language but you need to consider extra level of security/complexity to integrate the app with sharepoint.
    Thanks,

Thanks for this nice reply. Plz clarify if only Auto hosted apps will be deprecated or provider hosted apps also may be deprecated by MS?

  • Feature - use case scenario with different scopes

Can we share few real-time use case scenarios when we can create SharePoint 2010 Feature with following scope levels:-
    1. Farm
    2. Web application
    3. Site collection
    4. Site
    I mean with real-time examples....

Below are the examples which you can build based on different scopes.
    1. Farm(Farm-scope) - Web templates
    2. Web application (Webapplication-scope) - Timer Jobs
    3. Site collection (site-scope) - Content Types, web templates
    4. Site(web-scope)
    - Lists, Content Types
You can build a Content Types by
web scope or site scope, but it makes more sense in making them
at site scope so that it can reusable. If you see the above examples web templates can be built either at FARM or site scope, you have to decide at which scope you need to develop based on your requirement.
Check the below elements which can build at various scopes.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ms474383%28v=office.14%29.aspx
I would suggest you to go through a list of features and their scopes available in SharePoint 2010 to get an idea when to try to build a new artifact

  • Does worst case analysis work with model parameters?

The worst case analysis does not seem tow work with model parameters. I performed a worst case analysis on a simple one transistor amplifier stage. It gives correct answers for resistor tolerances, but for the transistor model parameters it never changes them. I did the same with a diode in the circuit and entered tolerances for the diode parameters and it never used the tolerances.

That's the same message I get. See attached circuit.

  • IPad (4th Gen) What is a good case that goes with the "iPad Smart Cover"?

    Hi,
I'm currently looking for a case that covers the aluminum back that also goes with the iPad Smart Cover. Thanks!

I've bought a ton of back covers. It's been hard trying to find the right one. I've settled on two really good ones though:
Caudabe Shell: This one's my daily driver, so to speak. I've got the frost version and it looks really good and has held up really well. Price is very reasonable too.
Switcheasy Cover Buddy: I like this one as well. Only thing is that they don't seem to have a frost version. They just have opaque colors, which I'm not a huge fan of. This is also a little bit more expensive than the Caudabe cover.

  • Best Case Scenario: OtterBox

I'm very surprised that I haven't seen the upcoming OtterBox Defender and Armor series cases for the Touch mentioned here. Both look wonderful. I just ordered a Defender. I know from my experience with OtterBox in the past they make great stuff.
Is there something someone knows about them other than the fact that I don't think they're actually out yet? I like the Defender because it's really protective (even covers the glass), somewhat water resistant, and the edges are even beveled to help not get in the way while typing.
I almost opted for the Armor (Waterproof, shockproof, etc.), but I didn't want the extra bulk.
Anyway, I'm just surprised not to see them mentioned... anywhere.

Thanks in advance! When it updates to paid it looks new in the eyes of Fico so it drops your score if it hasnt updated in awhile. If its been going month to month already with updates there is no loss of Fico points as its already occured. Once it stops the updating and begins to age then your Fico can begin to recover over time. A CO will affect your Fico the entire time its on file.

  • Catalog file on a network drive - case/scenario proof?

I know this has been been in debate for years, but the local photog group I'm with is getting into a good discussion on why putting the catalog on a network drive should be a good thing.
So being the resident IT pro, I went on twitter and both Adobe and Pete Green both say there are some scenarios that influenced the decision not to allow such awesomeness but haven't backed up their claims at all.
Can anyone prove and/or provide the full list of the scenarios claimed by the LR team?
I have built a bulletproof server rig:
Full rack battery backup, dual & redundant links to the iSCSI array in Raid10 + high speed ECC caching + hot spares on a stacked set of switches (6 links - split 3 per switch) Dual bonded NIC's from the server (two links per switch)
The workstations have dual bonded nics (1 link per switch) SSD drives inside for improved caching and performance.
Case for failure? Small, very very very small. The reliability and availability level of the servers are spot-on for a robust system that runs at about 800MB/sec. If that's not enough, Lightroom needs some serious redesign.
I have run filemaker, directory replica, and MySQL database servers on just Mac Minis! Even after an accident with not plugging it into the correct side of the desk UPS, it is still running fine to this day. So, in my experience, the claims for corrupting the catalog due to server/network failure is no longer viable unless some newb photographer tries to use a LR catalog from a wifi shared hdd in the middle of a storm.
So, am I on the right track or what?

    chattphotos wrote:
So, in a nutshell, the use of SQLite and no plans to cast to multi-user MySQL (the defacto standard of databases) is what is holding LR back from becoming a very useful multi-platform, team-friendly, and workshop-oriented editing suite.
No, look at what they're doing with Lightroom Mobile and particularly its browser-based sibling Lightroom Web, then consider where the underlying tech might allow them to go.

  • IPhone's Best "Case" Scenario  (The quest for protection)

Many of us are trying to find that best case, so I thought this follow-up would be helpful.
I have owned the iSkin Revo case for iPhone for nearly 2 months (http://www.iskin.com/). Basically, the case has really worked great for me. It has 3 parts, the case, a non-glare/privacy film screen cover and a plastic screen protector that snaps on the front of the phone to protect it from heavier impacts.
    - The case has really held up great and protected the phone well. It has stayed true to form and has not become stretched out. Unlike some other cases, dust and other particles have NOT scratched the bezel. I've dropped the phone only a couple times--once face down on my coffee table--and the sides of the case helped prevent the thing we worry about doing most: cracking the glass.
    - I hesitated using the anti-glare film, but have gotten used to it and feel the minimal loss of resolution is worth the extra protection to the glass. I'm probably going to pull the film later this month and see what I like better.
    - The plastic cover, while a great idea, is not really practical for me. Yes, it snaps off and can be placed on the back securely, but I end up leaving it behind. It's really just added bulk.
I'd like to read some follow-ups on some of the other cases people have purchased. Let's start a fresh thread with people's experiences. The ones I read here really helped me. Thanks for posting!

I had one of the Incase rubber cases and stopped using it because of all the crud that would find its way into the case, and my iPhone is now a bit scuffed up because of it after only a couple of weeks.
I no longer use a case for it anymore. I think a large part of what makes the iPhone so great is how sleak and clean looking it is. I have it in my pocket most of the time, and make an effort not to put my keys or anything else in that particular pocket.
I do use the Incase Leather Folio clipped to my belt while I am at work to protect it from getting smashed in my pocket (part of my job is bumping into a lot of things, and leaning in ways that I worry would cause undue pressure on the phone).
I'm not a fan of any phone being worn on a belt, people act like its a fashion accessory. But while at work it is a practical way to keep my phone on me. I can't leave it in my car because it gets way too hot during the summer.
Outside of work however, I like my sleek, attractive, case-less iPhone.

  • Help tech worst case senario

i was happily using my imac 17 in' for a few years now delaying getting leopard until the price dropped ( it didn't and i finally crashed a bought it) i messed around with the new applications for about 2 days then disaster struck in the form of BOOT CAMP
i split the disk drive into 2 pieces 32GB for windows and about 120 for my mac hes where i hit the land slide running
#1 there was an error with splitting the drive and i had to reinstall leopard unknowing that i had accepted deleting my ENTIRE disk drive and about 2000 songs with it
#2 now i need to admit to everyone I'm a techie of low standards and i "Barrowed"
my offices copy of ./shutter Windows 2003 server edition and loaded it with a fancy bit of working the lop holes
#3 and this is the part you will all kick me for when it started the loading the program it asked me for a 25 digit code on the instruction book which was thrown away many a year ago
#4 this is why a 25 digit code will not help me now. i ejected the disk and restarted it praying that apple will open .... no dice so i put in leopard hopping that it will load the apple OS i have and error message and can no longer eject the disk
so now i am forever doomed to an error message and karma is having a fare bit of revenge i need help and i think ill take it in to a apple store tomorrow. unless one of you guys has a wonder cure

Hmmm... When you try to reboot into the Leopard DVD, did you hold "c" or "option" ? Also, when you say that it doesn't boot, does it give a folder with a question mark, or does it not display anything (white loading screen forever)? Something that you can try is holding command+"s" at startup, which will boot you into a Command Line Interace, single user mode. At that point you can type "fsck -fy" to perform a disk repair on your hard drive. This shouldn't erase any of your data, but it will check all the necessary system files to make sure everything is correct, then repair it if it isn't. After you type that and it goes through that process, you can type "quit" to continue booting. Good luck!
