Worst chat messenger in terms of privacy settings

I wonder if anyone else has faced the same issues as i have.
I was trying to delete history of a selct chat and find i am unable to do so, unlike what was available on hotmail or msn chat.
This is a really dumb way to offer privacy settings and even no help available for thsi particular problemn online or on/in the community.
I really think Microsoft needs to fix this issue ASAP as more and more users are going to have this problem i suspect !
If this continue, i for one would certainly stiop using skype completly. I already lost all my history , and most of it , related to business chats with various custoemrs/suppliers.
Really Dumb of MS not to have looked at thsi before merging or offering to mergo hotmaila nd skype !!!

I also am getting a serious amount of emails at the moment, just woke up to 127 in my email account on top of that I have had money scammed from my account and have been overcharged in the not even two months since i have started using skpe. i would like to be CONTACTED by SKYPE to fix this asap. Especially since I cannot contact Skype by phone or direct email......and I am not going to sort through 127 emails to find your answer. Please ring me to sort this or i shall have to contact fraud sqad to fix this PROBLEM>

I would second that. Separate queues for separate interfaces gives much better control and flexibility. It may not be very important when you have only a few interfaces, but in future as you will keep adding more interfaces it will become important to control each interface independently depending on priority, load etc which you can easily achieve if you are using different queues.
Some specific advantages of separate queues for separate interfaces:
1. You can pause/resume consumption of messages for a specific interface. For ex. if your environment is facing performance issues because of overload you may want to pause low priority messages while continue processing high priority or critical messages. Obviously this will be for short term and you may want to look at sizing of your environment as the long term solution to the problem.
2. You can configure different delivery parameters for different interfaces if you are using separate queue. So you can set one interface to provide reliable messaging by retrying failed messages automatically while you may configure the failed messages to be logged and not retried for another interface.
3. You can independently do performance tuning for separate interfaces. For ex. you may configure more concurrent processing for an interface which will receive higher load compared to other interfaces.

Facebook Privacy Settings Lumia 800

Since last week, all messages posted from my Lumia 800 to Facebook have been posted with the 'Only Me' privacy setting. Previously I was able to post no problem with the Privacy set as 'Public'.
As far as I can see there are no options on the phone for privacy settings, and others that I know using Lumia phones have no problems sending messages to Facebook.
Does anyone know what could be causing this, and what the solution would be. I am posting messages from the 'Me Tile' and not from a Facebook app, though if I post from a Facebook app I have the same problem.

I have encountered this one wherein all my post created under Hotmail are set to "Only Me". You can try to check these settings and see if it will make any difference:
Go to Hotmail>Sign in your account>Under Messenger Social>Click on Add>Manage services
You will have a list of linked accounts to your Microsoft account. Under Facebook, click on Edit and put a check mark to "Share to Facebook".

Tip: If the call fails because of privacy settings

For translated calls, you need to make sure that your privacy setting in Settings>Options>Privacy Who can call you? is set to everyone. The person you are calling must have their privacy setting set to allow calls from everyone as well. In the Windows Desktop client, the privacy settings are is in Tools>Options>Privacy Allow calls from anyone.
No other privacy option will work even if you are in each other’s contact list.
When you call someone, Skype Translator creates a group video chat with 3 participants: you, the person you are calling, and the Translator. Behind the scenes, the Translator is the originator of the call, and then calls you back, and calls the other person. Because Translator is not in your contact list or in the contact list of the person you are calling, it will be blocked if the privacy setting excludes non-contacts from calling.

Privacy Settings - Photos - No app icons there?

Hi all,
I want to post photos in KakaoTalk or WhatsApp.. Both Apps tell me, i need to enable them in the privacy settings. But when i go to privacy settings -> photos - i have no app icons there where i can enable and disable (in contacts i have these icons)... What can I do to get the app icons there? Reinstalling the chat apps did not help..

Check your Restrictions settings:
Settings > General > Restrictions > Privacy > Photos

Cannot save Basic privacy settings

Hi,
I'm trying to save "Only allow people in my Contact list to contact me" under the Basic options in the Privacy options. When I press save and return to check that that choice has been retained the setting is back to "Allow anyone to contact me". Meanwhile in the Advanced options similar choices save without any problem. However, I continue to receive notices from unknown people wanting to become contacts.
I have tried one solution of signing out for 5 seconds and then signing back in, but this didn't work.
I use W7 x64 and Skype 6.10.0.104. on 2 PCs and I have an Android device running skype too, a Samsung Galaxy S3 and occasionally a Samsung Galaxy Note.

There are no Privacy settings that can prevent people from sending new contact invitations to you. Privacy settings have only effect on chat messages and calls, but not on new contact invitations.

How do i stop or disable appearing Website Privacy Settings panel before webcam starts..

i have developed flash audio and video chat application, every thing is working fine with all browser with in XP(os),
but i have problem in Mac(os), i.e i cannot able to click on Website Privacy Settings panel allow button in Mac 10.5.8, cursor is pointing on allow button, when am clicking on it nothing is happening, and there is no probelm in XP, i can able to click on Allow button, can any body help me How do i stop or disable appearing Website Privacy Settings panel before webcam starts..

Privacy settings failure

i have all my privacy settings to "contacts only" and yet i'm still getting random messages from random strangers asking to chat. it's really annoying! it's happened before. can anyone tell me how to fix it for good?

I doubt that I could add anything superior to that offered by TheUberOverlord, however in support of your frustration, I and all of the Skype users whom I support have our profiles locked down for privacy, and we all still intermittently receive unwelcome "friend" requests. Some of these are lewd and go beyond "I thought you looked interesting" requests. We all have different MS Win computer configurations and use different editions of Skype, mine being the newest and kept most up-to-date. I, too, would like to know from where these things originate so I could stop them.
Remember also to make sure the privacy settings in your profile aren't clicked -
- to allow your online status to be shown on the web,
- to accept Skype browser cookies, or
- to allow Skype to use non-personally identifiable info about you when serving 3rd party ads.
That said, it has not stopped the roque friend requests from appearing! All we seem to be able to do is block the unwanted user and click on Report Abuse.

Serious breach of Privacy Settings in MSN for Skyp...

I am not the first to post about this serious flaw, and as long as it isn't fixed, I will definitely not be the last.
My Skype settings are set to only allow conversations from my contacts. However, I am on a daily basis spammed by unknown users through the MSN integration.
I can 'remove them' from my contact list, even though they should not be there in the first place.
I cannot block them.
I cannot report them.
I use Skype as a profession chat tool where I work, and have always been very happy for it. However, this obvious error is driving me nuts. My work day is constantly interrupted, and according to my settings, I should not be.
Personally I see this as a serious breach of my privacy settings, and something I expect Skype to fix immediatly.

My facebook profile photo shows up on an email to a friend who has a yahoo email address, but is not my Facebook friend. All my FB privacy settings are at the max. Is this a Yahoo privacy issue? I don't want my photo to go to other than FB friends.

I recently sent an email to a friend, who is NOT a Facebook friend, who has a yahoo email account, and my Facebook profile picture appeared next to the email. My privacy settings on FB only allow FB friends to see my photo. Why is another yahoo account that is not a FB friend seeing my profile photo and is there a Yahoo privacy setting that will eliminate this from happening? Thank you.

Firefox will not open now - I just updated my privacy settings, and cleared cookies - what happened?

I changed the privacy settings on Firefox preferences, including clearing cookies, history and cache, and now Firefox will not open at all. It said it had to restart after one of the privacy changes, but it didn't and now won't open by the dock icon or thru applications. What happened, and how can I correct the issue to start using Firefox again? Thanks.

I have an iphone5 and no apps can access my camera roll. When i go to privacy settings there is no option to turn it on. How do I get these apps to access my camera roll? I have tried deleting and reinstalling the apps.

I have a new iPhone 5. I am trying to get apps like instagram, facebook etc to upload pictures from my camera roll. When i try to get a picture from the camera roll it instructs me to go to settings - privacy - photos and turn access on. When I do this, there is no option to turn it on. All i get is a screen saying "apps that have requested access to your photos will appear here". NO APPS APPEAR HERE. When I go to instagram I get the message "this app does not have access to your photos. You can enable access in Privacy Settings." I CAN'T enable it in Privacy Settings. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it and it didnt work. Please help! Much appreciated.

I'm also on iPhone 4, iOS 6, and have exactly the same problem. I've tried resetting privacy settings, turning restrictions on and off, deleting and reinstalling apps. Nothing seems to work. The lists of apps in privacy settings are all empty, except for location services. When using Tweetbot the app is regularly asking for permission to access my twitter account, but even when I allow that, the app doesn't show in privacy settings. When I try to go into the camera roll from the Facebook app, the app tells me I have to allow access to the camera roll from the privacy settings - which I can't do since the app is not listed there.

Hi, I'm Jan and this is more or less my rage.
I THOUGHT Skype had privacy settings, cause I wanted to change some today and I went to check profile settings on my desktop software and show full profile and suddenly at the right edge I see the bane of my existance when privacy is considered. ALMOST EVERYTHING IS GREYED OUT AND SET TO PUBLIC! ARE YOU FREAKING MENTAL?! I'd like most of my info set to contacts only, thankyouverymuch. SO WHAT?! If I want to hide who I am until I am certain I want to tell somebody that information, I should commit identity fraud and FAKE ALL OF MY INFO?! WHY WOULD YOU EVEN CONSIDER DOING IT?! IS OUR PRIVACY WORTH ANYTHING TO US?! I realize that Skype has been through the gutter since it got bought out by Microsoft, but really? You can't manage not showing certain information? EVEN FACEBOOK WHO OWNS ALL THE INFO I PUT ON THERE HAS A "HIDE YOUR INFORMATION TO NON-FRIENDS" SETTING!!! I have a feeling I'll be searching for a new IM and net-calling provider soon, if this doesn't get fixed...

Thanks for reply. Have done this already. Been spending 48 hours solving all the hardware issues that iOS 7 has caused. I have hardware issues that I never had before update. Had my beef with apple customer service that resulted in Apple being very keen on charging me £200+ for fixing iPad or advising me to buy anew iPad.
Result is that microphone is dead since update after resetting to factory setting 3 times!
Xmas will buy a nexus or samsung, fed up with the bad customer service, the poor software updates, 2 years for a £500 iPad is a bad return on money.

How do I know if private browsing is working? The purple mask does not appear when I click the mask icon. In my privacy settings "Never Remember" is selected.

I'm trying to confirm private browsing is working. Right now I have no way of knowing if it is on or not. The purple mask ,referred to in help, does not appear when selected. I should say in my privacy settings, I have selected "Never Remember" for history.

Do you mean you have checked the box: "Always use private browsing mode"? If so, it's intentional that the private browsing icon isn't displayed as we didn't want Firefox to be showing everyone within view that you're using private browsing mode IIRC.
There are some easy things you can do to confirm that you are in private browsing mode such as visiting a new website and then confirming it doesn't appear in the history window.
