Worst kind of **** found on my iPod touch - where's it from???

I was experimenting with one of my music apps (Audio 3-D Player) but the iPad may have been switching between apps because a picture appeared for just a second and disappeared (so it probably wasn't that app at all - and some of the worst kind of **** appeared. I was so freaked out I did a total reset of the device but now I'm afraid to download any apps. I did a search and found no Apple specific help with this matter. I'm not a prude re **** but this was material that could give me nightmares and ruin my or anyone else's reputation; it was truly disturbing stuff. I'd report it to the police but I don't know enough about iPod file management to know where to find the file or what app it was specifically part of. My iPod Touch was attached to my Windows machine so now I'm wanted to reinstall everything on every machine.. Am I over-reacting. How do people find this crap and clean it off their machines - and then be sure it's no longer there.

Unless you have jailbroken your device, then it is not spy/malware. The same regarding getting anything from the Windows computer. You say that you have never used Safari on the iPod, so you do not use the internet through Safari? If you are using an app, and this generally applies to free apps, that have advertising as part of their package, it probably came from there. An accidental tap on one of those advertisements can cause problems, but if you know what app you had open at the time, I would complain to them about their advertising. What generally happens is they purchase a service to add advertisements to their site, and at times, things like this can get through. I can understand it being a shock. Devices connected to the internet can be prone to anything, depending on what you may be doing at the time. These are also caused by java script on websites, but since you say you were not on the web, it would have to have been from an application.

I saw a thread saying to purchase the newest software (that was posted a few years ago) I paid 4.95 for the software and it's still saying it can't be updated.  Am I just SOL??

The 1G iPod can only go as high as 3.1.3. The 1G does not have an internal speaker or volume buttons on the upper left edge.

  • I found someone's ipod touch at a walmart in my area, and would like to know how to find this person? There is a passcode lock on it.

I found someone's ipod touch at a walmart in my area, and would like to know if there is any way to locate this person? The ipod is locked.

The only other thing you can do is to take the iPod to a place with unsecured wi-fi (like a starbucks) or temporarily turn off the security on your own wi-fi router (be sure that all your wi-fi devices are turned off when do this).  On the off chance that the owner has activiated the iCloud Find My iPod service s/he could send you a message on how to contact him.  Most people forget to set this up, so a contact is unlikely; but it is possible.

  • I found a lost ipod touch

i found a lost ipod touch 4g  im wondering if you can turn it into itunes will they give u a new one

As with every thing, you have two choices:
    1.  Do the right thing
    2.  Do the wrong thing.
Doing the right thing:  Contact Apple, give them the serial number and have them contact the registered owner.  Also, contact you local police department and give them the serial number.  If no one claims the device with in a certain time, its yours.
Do the wrong thing:  Keep the device and don't tell anyone.  Connect it to your computer, install iTunes, wipe the device clean, and then use it like you stole it.
When the cops come knocking on your door you have two choices:
    1.  Run
    2. Surrender.
If you run the cops have 2 choices:
    1.  Run you down
    2.  Shoot to kill.
    And so it goes...
And to answer your question, NO.  Apple will not give you a new iPod.  You have to buy it just like the poor soul who lost the one you have....

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

Yeah, i found the file 'iPod touch app pack 4a93.ipa' in mobile application directory, which directory in Mac should i copy to? Is it \user\<name>\music\iTunes ?
    Hi,
I think that is the old "January update", I'm not so sure it is necessary to transfer that one but it would go here -
    ~/Library/iTunes/Mobile Applications
Look here for the latest 2.0 etc. updates -
    C:\Documents and Settings\"name"\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates
Even then I'm not sure even these are required but best back them up to be safe.
I'm not sure where the go in Mac OS X though.
I'm sure someone will let us know soon.

Was your wife logged into the libray at the time you tried to log in? I have had a similar problem and it was because another user was logged into the library when I attempted to. I got the permission denied banner.

  • IPod touch 5th generation (replacement from Apple Store) - yellow tinted screen

I have an iPod touch 5th generation replacement from the Apple Store, and the display is slightly yellow compared to "new" or floor models. There are also some areas where the yellowing is more obvious than others. Is it possible to get this replaced at an Apple Store?
I have read other posts where the yellow tint goes away within a week or so. I have had this problem for months.

An iTunes library you previously downloaded those versions to, or a backup of that library.

  • IPod Touch won't update from iOS 3.1.3 to iOS 4

My second generation IPod touch won't upgrade from iOS 3.1.3 to iOS4. Everytime I plug it into the computer it tells me there's an update. I'll click theupdate and it will start backing up my files but it never gets beyond this point. What is the best way to fix this?
