Worth protecting alu macbook with invisible shield?

hi
i was wondering is it easy to scratch the new alu macbook becasue i have had mine for three days now and so far so good. would like to hear your views?

dood,
I have to say I already scratched that flimsy bottom panel where the battery and HD are... That is part of the reason why I quickly ordered a shield...
Not to be a party crasher here, but aluminum is so easy to scratch, too bad eh, it's so pretty, bare silver like that... At least the shield won't hide the sexiness!
I also called Apple, asked for the panel as a spare part and was willing to pay for it, thinking it would cost a fortune... Much to my surprise, the part is... 8 $ ! plus shipping, which is ironically 11 $ (more than the part ironic isn't it).
Last comment: I have rarely had such great customer support, first time I call Apple, and I'm very impressed with the gentleman who was patient and went through the whole paperwork thing.

  • Ipod in the car with invisible shield

I have Blitzsafe ipod adapter installed in the car and hook up my ipod with the bottom connector which plays through the car stereo and charges at the same time.
I had the invisible shield on but the ipod got very warm and froze. I took the shield off and so far the ipod is working fine. It still gets warm but did not shut down or freeze. Anyone have experience like this ?
Now I've the ipod in the Agent18 case and the ipod is fine so far in the car.

I use the Blitzsafe to charge my iPod and it never seems to overheat.
(As an aside: I don't use it for the audio because I found it to boost the bass unreasonably. Only one of my two Blitz units does this, so I imagine it's just a bad unit.)

  • Is anyone having touch response issues with Invisible Shield Extreme?

I received the iPhone 5 today and had Best Buy put on the Invisible Shield Extreme and now the touch response stinks.  I guess it certainly is a credit to the shield but I'd like to be able to type and open apps.  Is anyone else having this problem, or is this something that will resolve itself as the glue dries fully.

Yea man got picked up my Invisible Shield Extreme today at best buy and the gentlman there did the install and now the reasponsiveness is crap. I'm hoping its cleared up by tomarrow if not I'm going back to best buy.

  • Returning nano with invisible shield - do I remove the shield first?

I have a nano that I need to return for replacement. It is wrapped in an invisible shield. Is it necessary to remove the film before I return it to Apple?

I got the standard answer from the Apple support line...They are not responsible for any accessories so keep them if you want them. I didn't expect that the Invisible Shield would come back, since I think they will just replace the unit. I removed it anyway. I thought I may try to install it again.
I always make sure I have backups to whatever is on the nano. Too many people have been bitten by that...Trying to learn from others' mistakes.

  • Invisible Shield for iPod touch: Don't Get!

    Worst product ever.
Do not get. If you are wondering how to protect your iPod the invisible shield is NOT the answer. I have used many of ShieldZone / Zaggs products before without problem but the Invisible shield for the iPod touch is terrible.
For whatever reason the back shield will nor adhere the he curvature of the Touch and the shield for the front of the touch was cut too large and will never fully adhere to the slight bevel around the perimeter of the screen.
    Be advised AVOID THIS PRODUCT!

I just finished the application process for my full body Invisible Shield. Overall, it went very well but there are a couple of bubbles and/or imperfections on the front shield that would compel me to ask the company for a replacement if they do not work themselves out over the next 2-3 days like the instructions say. So I'll reserve judgment for now, but here are my overall impressions:
    1) The material is fantastic. It doesn't show fingerprints when you touch it, it's very transparent, and it feels very nice to the touch. It does stink a little if you put your nose up to it, but I don't plan on sniffy my iPod too often. LOL.
    2) The back shield installation actually went better than the front. The back shield is virtually flawless and you can't even tell it's on. I didn't have any trouble getting the curved parts to adhere at all. However, I was slightly off in my centering and the top edge covered my Hold button just a tiny bit. Rather than completely remove and reapply, I took a small pair of scissors and just cut a tiny slit right where the shield was overlapping my Hold button a bit. Voila! The back shield is awesome and will seemingly protect that chrome for a long time. The shield material actually has a little more friction to the touch, which might help you prevent dropping the iPod.
    3) The front shield (which I applied first) didn't go quite so well (perhaps because it was my first time). When I first put it on, I was off a bit and had to pull it back off. When I reapplied, I got the centering pretty good but now there are several bubbles and a couple of lines going across the material that I can't seem to work out with the included rubber thingamabob. If they don't work themselves out, I might try removing the shield again and trying once more. Otherwise, I'm going to have to ask for a replacement because it is distracting.
More importantly, the front shield doesn't interfere with the "touch screen" at all and you can't really tell that it's on (except for the aforementioned bubbles/lines). I don't know how long it will last before you need a new one, but I would definitely recommend the product but just be very careful the first time you apply it.
I will report back in a day or two and let you guys know if the imperfections works themselves out.

  • Martin Fields V Invisible Shield

Just wondering what you guys think is better out of the two film protectors.
Also, anybody found them in the UK, or from US with free shipping?
    *nathan

I have to say i was disappointed with invisible shield because... i never got it and was charged for it and the crap explanation i was giving is because i chose free shipping so unless they get the item back they cannot refund my money so the package is somewhere out there i cant use it cos i dont have and yet i'm paying for it because they supposedly shipped it. On the flipped side i just installed the martin fields and its great it blends verywell and is protects properly but make sure your carefull when applying because my first attempt trapped dust particles but my second was fine. One minor complaint and im nitpicking is that the shield is glossy hence easily smudges not scratches just smudges which is easily wiped off. In summary for my marin field is an A star product, invisible shield no no because i never tested one. PS i used free shipping for both and i live in the UK. hope this helps

  • Macbook Pro Bodygaurdz or invisible shield

I had ordered a bodygaurdz unit for the Macbook unibody that I was going to buy. However, two of the pieces will not fit onto the new Macbook Pro that I bought yesterday. I realize this isn't an accessories forum. However, does anyone know the usual time between a release of a computer and the release of a body guard or invisible shield for the new model. They are very small changes, but I would like to make sure if fits correctly.
    Thanks for your help.

Those icons are displayed when you check the appropriate box in System Preferences. For example, the wifi icon is set on the bottom line in the image below:
If this is a recent occurrence, you may be able to get them all back with a NVRAM reset. Excerpt from How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R.
    Turn on your Mac.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys immediately after you hear the startup sound.
Hold these keys until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for a second time.
    Release the keys.
After resetting NVRAM, you may need to reconfigure settings for speaker volume, screen resolution, startup disk selection, and time zone information.

  • READ THIS IF YOU BOUGHT INVISIBLE SHIELD WITH FREE SHIPPING!

I want to order an invisible shield with free shipping. about how long did it take to get to your location?

I don't think so cause i don't got a tracking number, a code or anything like that. I just got my order number from invisibleSHIELD but that's useless. I think i should start saying goodbye to my $30. Shipping by Miami Express i'll end spending more than what i paid for the invisibleSHIELD. Right now the only thing i can do is hope that someday it will arrive.

  • Something went wrong with the invisible shield application

After putting on the invisible shield, I was really happy because it turned out great. I waited about two to three hours then started using it.
To my horror, I think my nano might have shorted out because when I press play the song changes. sometimes the play/pause button doesnt even do anything when i press on it...when i touch the volume control, it increases and decreases erratically regardless of what im trying to do...sometimes it even seems like my nano has a mind of its own because when i simply move the nano, without touching the controls, the song changes or the volume changes.
this erratic behavior occurs sporadically. sometimes my nano works fine. then right when i think all is well, my nano becomes possessed. is it possible that my nano has shorted out? maybe i should let it dry?

    hey carl,
The process of applying the shield requires that I wet the film with soap and water. What do you suggest I do? My mistake was that I did not put on the hold button when I was applying the wet film and thus my ipod turned on while I was putting on the shield. i realize now that my nano should not have turned on for 24 hours. Should I just wait and see if the funky behavior goes away? or should i visit the nearest apple store?

  • MacBook with retina display worth it?

I'll be a college student next year and am ecstatic that I am required to have a MacBook pro. My intended major of industrial design recommends that I have at least 500GB of storage and FireWire capability.
I really like the new MacBook with retina display because the screen displays text, photos, videos, etc. with an extremely noticeable (at least to me) definition, which I feel is perfect for art and design. I also like how it is thinner and a tiny bit lighter than the Non-retina MacBook pro, making it easier to to carry around Syracuse's large campus. My only concern is that if I go with The standard model of the Retina display, I'll be paying quite a hefty sum, and still won't have the hard drive size I need. I have no problem paying more to get what I need, but my urgent questions are as follows:
    1) Is the higher price ($2800) MacBook with Retina display worth it?
    2) Would I be able to upgrade anything (Hard Drive Size, RAM, battery life, etc.) after I purchase the MacBook by sending it to apple or some other retailer?
    3) Is it inconvenient to not have an optical drive?
    4) How is the battery life?
    5) Is it possible to have a retina display installed on a MacBook pro that does not originally have one?
    6) How easy is it to switch from a PC to a Mac?
If any or all (1, 2, and 3 most importantly) of these questions could be answered I would really appreciate it, I would also love to have any other advice on this topic.
    Thank You!

Buy one of the other MacBook Pros.

If you are worrying about cost: you cannot afford it. This so called Pro MacBook has only 1GB of VRAM when even an ugly DELL has 2GB using the same GPU. For some reason, proably due to heat it had to be downgraded to 1GB of VRAM which in the Mobile Workstation world is considered rock bottom and means you will be buying a GPU that is already date and underpowered.
    1) Is the higher price ($2800) MacBook with Retina display worth it?
It's really only useful if you have clients who are impressed you can afford it. Plasma Blue Ray is set at 1920X1080 and until HD is 4K no one will see what you see.
    2) Would I be able to upgrade anything (Hard Drive Size, RAM, battery life, etc.) after I purchase the MacBook by sending it to apple or some other retailer?
NO, maybe sometime in the future a thrid party will construct an SSD that is compatible but it will be very, very expensive.
    3) Is it inconvenient to not have an optical drive?
YES, you do not really need it these days and can easily use the external DVD drive.
    4) How is the battery life?
Considering it's ok but not as good as the other MBP.
    5) Is it possible to have a retina display installed on a MacBook pro that does not originally have one?
    NO
    6) How easy is it to switch from a PC to a Mac?
    EASY.

  • Replacing the nano battery with the invisible shield... How?

Does anyone know how the invisible shield will work when the battery needs to be replaced? I am looking for a permanent solution. While I know that I will be able to peel the Invisible Shield off for the battery replacement, the shield will become stretched and distorted. At this point I will not have a shield, and don't have to want to buy another one. The only solution I think would be possible is if there was a way to slice the shield with a razor (around the seam). Any ideas. Perhaps I shouldn't buy the Invisible shield, it might just be a short term solution.
    Anyone?

Actually, I think the more prudent question is whether or not the nano will even be accepted for battery replacement by Apple, or anyone else with a cover like that attached to it.
They could even charge extra money to deal with it, I can see either situation as being realistic.
If that does turn out to be the situation, then it would come down to a matter of costs as far as what you would need to do.
That being said, I personally think it is way too early to even worry about things like that since it is years off at a minimum, and it could very possibly never need to be done.

  • Protect macbook with Open Firmware password

Hi. I'd like to protect my MacBook air by enable an Open Firmware password.
How can I do it ?

Open Firmware was available in PowerPC-based Macs, so your MacBook Air hasn't got it. Instead, it's a EFI firmware password, that will ask you for a password every time you want to start in a mode different than the normal one (without holding any key while your Mac is starting up).
To enable it, hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting to start up into OS X Recovery. Then, go to Utilities menu (on the menu bar) > Firmware Password Utility, and enable it.
Don't forget the password. Only Apple knows how to reset it, so you will have problems

  • Am I worth to wait for the new macbooks with snow leopard?

As the day Apple released the new macbook pro 17. I was considering about If I need to wait for the all macbooks with the new operating system. Because I just heard that Snow leopard will come with a 64 bit. But now leopard just is with 32 bit. Some of people said new macbooks with snow leopard will be different from the old models(2008 late), even the macbook pro 17 2009. Can someone help me? Thanks a lot.

I think if you need a new laptop you can take the plunge. If you have a look on the apple website on the SL page you will note the following text near the bottom:
+Benchmark based on the SunSpider JavaScript Performance test on a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo-based iMac with Mac OS X Snow Leopard and 2GB of RAM.+
That's the sort of specs for a machine that would run the OS well...I think the new 17" MB Pro is well within that ballpark.
