  • Will my MacBook work without the screen?

The screen on my 2011 MacBook is broken but the unit works fine with an external display. If I remove the screen (as its an unsightly mess) will the unit still work?

    Hello Dazcon4,
Sorry i can't give you an answer because i'm having the same problem (my macbook's screen stopped working) i'm considering using an external monitor but i'm wondering if the macbook detects it automatically or do i need to set it up manually (how to do so given that we can't see what's on the macbook's screen ?)
What happens when you reboot the computer ? Does it start using the external monitor or do you need to set it up each time ?
Are you using an DVI or a VGA monitor ?
Sorry again for disrupting your topic !
    Thank you

I bought today , Ipod nano which was version 1.1.1 at CompUSA.

  • Where can I purchase a replacement home button for a 7th gen nano?

My home button fell out when I dropped the 7th gen Nano and shattered the glass while mountain biking.  I have replacement glass and digitizer in hand but no home button.  I have not been able to get anywhere with my local Apple store in regards to purchasing a new button.
    Any help?

Tried to repair a toaster lately?
On a device at this price range it makes no sense to have parts available and have a technician spend an hour replacing the button. They provide you with a service replacement instead, send back your old one and have it totally refurbished. Makes far more economic sense.

  • Pressing "shuffle" on my 7th gen Nano will only randomly pick the first song, then repeats it over and over. How do I get "shuffle to work properly?

Pressing "shuffle" on my 7th gen Nano will only randomly pick the first song, then repeats it over and over. How do I get "shuffle to work properly?

Is "REPEAT ONE" highlighted. If it is, touch it to de-select. Cheers!

  • My Nike  HRM is not working with my 7th gen Nano

I got the 7th Gen Nano a few weeks ago and so far I like it very much.  I had a Polar HRM and discovered that my existing HRM transmitter would not
work with the Nano.  I got the HRM transmitter that says it works with Nike+ and it's not working.  Any suggestions?

When I plug it in iTunes recognizes my iPod, syncs it, but then the iPod library is grey.
If the iPod's Music list is greyed out, that usually means the iPod uses automatic syncing.  You cannot change anything directly on the iPod, because you are not manually managing content.  You let iTunes manage the content, based on the settings on the iPod's Music settings screen.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  In iTunes 12, click the "device button" on the horizontal bar (its icon looks like the device).  The iPod's "management" screen comes up, showing the iPod's Summary settings view.  Is the box for Manually manage music checked or not checked?  If it's not checked, you are using automatic syncing.  In the iPod's sidebar, under Settings, click Music to show the iPod's Music settings screen and set up (or update) automatic syncing for songs.

  • My Ipod 4th gen will not work without the charger.

My ipod nano 4th gen will not work without the charger.

How much it costs depends on who you have replace the battery whether that be Apple or a 3rd party repair company.  Here are Apple's prices.

It would likely be much cheaper to have a 3rd party company do it instead.  One company I have heard a lot of good things about is iResq.  For others, do a simple Google search for "iPod battery repair" and you should get a plethora of results.

I don't believe Radio Shack does offer that service.  Sorry.

  • 7th gen Nano only works when plugged in, turns off when  unplugged... battery is fully charged.

7th gen Nano only works when plugged into computer, as soon as I unplug it shuts off (it was ejected from iTunes). Battery is fully charged.  Have already done a restore in iTunes and checked for updated software.

    Hello there, DizDude.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some good recommendations for troubleshooting battery issues with the 7th generation iPod Nano:
iPod nano (7th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4433
    Particularly this section:
    Battery life appears short
Learn how to conserve battery life.
Ensure that the latest software is installed on the iPod.
When charging, use the cable that came with iPod nano (7th generation) and leave the device connected until it is fully charged.
Note: If you are charging using your computer, don't connect iPod nano (7th generation) to your keyboard. Also, the computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode. If iPod nano (7th generation) is connected to a computer that's not turned on or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPod nano (7th generation) battery may drain.
When you are done using the iPod nano, verify that:
The Radio application is off (tap the button)
Music is paused (tap the button in the iPod application or disconnect the earphones)
There is no active Pedometer session (tap the Stop button in the Fitness application)
Dimming the screen is another way to extend battery life on iPod nano. Go to Settings > General > Brightness and restore the brightness to the default, or drag the slider to the left to lower the default screen brightness.
Playing tracks with EQ requires your iPod processor to consume more energy than playing tracks without EQ, because the EQ information is not encoded in the song. To prolong battery life, turn EQ off if you don't use it. Go to Settings > Music > EQ and select Off from the list. Note, however, that if you've added EQ to tracks in iTunes, you'll need to set EQ to Flat to have the effect of Off, because iPod keeps your iTunes settings intact.
Try restoring iPod nano (7th generation) by connecting it to iTunes and clicking Restore.
    Test the battery life.
    Issue not resolved
If the issue is still not resolved, please read this information on servicing your iPod.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

  • I can't get my new 7th gen nano to sync to my exsisting itunes. It keeps saying the ipod is not detected.

I can't get my new 7th gen nano to sync to my exsisting itunes. It keeps saying the ipod is not detected.

If youre like me, I have so many Apple devices, I always move things over manually rather than remember what to sync and what not to sync........ There’s an option to UNCHECK sync on any device if that helps you in ITUNES.
On any device, like your phone, in ITUNES you can check the option for manual vs. automatically sync.

  • My 7th gen nano ipod is playing everything super-slowly! How do I get the songs to play normally?

My iPod 7th gen nano is playing songs very slowly. I have reset it and that did not help. In podcasts, when I tap the top, it says "1x" I reset my settings, and that did not help.
Does anyone know how to get the songs to play at their normal speed?

    Hi tab66,
Are you setting the Shuffle Albums setting here:
    Settings>Shuffle>Albums
If you have that last setting = Songs, then it is going to shuffle your songs. If you have it set to Albums, then it should shuffle the Albums but play the songs within the albums in order.
    Cheers,
