Would a European iPhone work in the U.S.A.?

Would a European iPhone work in the U.S.A.? The specs for the ones sold in the U.S. look the same but there might be some differences which I'm not aware of!

Your problem, as a traveler to the US is that the largest GSM carrier, AT&T, is not very friendly to travelers. The only other nationwide GSM carrier is T-Mobile...more friendly, but not as much coverage. Realistically you only have two choices: 1. Go to a T-Mobile store when you get here, but since they are not an officially iPhone carrier, you'll have to get them to fiddle with the settings to get everything working. 2. Straight Talk...same deal, not an official iPhone carrier but they rent spectrum from AT&T, thus coverage is the same:

  • Does find my iPhone work if the device is dead?

Just like the title does Find My IPhone work when the device your looking for is dead?
    Thank you

No.  The phone must be turned on, obviously.

  • Does "Find My iPhone" work on the original iPhone?

Does "Find My iPhone" work on the original iPhone, or just the 3G and 3G S? Also, after installing 3.0 on my original, it seems some apps were deleted, like Google and the weather app.

Yes it does work.. but the map accuracy isn't great at all, but workeable
Try to sync from your computer again, and check the apps are there and are checked in the Applications tab of the iPhone page/screen.

  • Would these Viewsonic Monitors work with the Mac Mini?

    Hi,
I ordered the latest mac mini and I need to order a monitor...Due to my budget constrainsts I cannot order a Dell Ultrasharp, so I'm looking at a viewsonic...
.I want to do some webdesign on it, so I don't need a lot of color accuracy  ....But would this work with the Mac mini?
ViewSonic VX2363smhl-w 23-Inch SuperClear IPS LED Monitor  1920x1080
do I need to buy any type of cable?   the conectors it has are
    15-pin mini D-sub (VGA) / HDMI (x1) , HDMI/MHL (x1)

    Those monitor's will work fine.
One will connect to the Mac Mini's HDMI output port using the supplied HDMI cable.
For the other you will need either a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter or better yet a Mini Display Port to HDMI adapter.

Either will work for the second monitor, but personally I would go with the (Digital) HDMI adapter instead of the (Analog) VGA adapter.

  • Would this storage card work in the Media Card slot of my W700?

    Hi,
I'm interested in buying this Lexar 133x SDHC Card:
    http://lexarmedia.com/products/lexar-professional-133x-sdhc-card?category=213
Basicallyl, I want to use it as another storage drive (as opposed to putting in my camera or other device).  So after I insert it, I want to be able to format it and use it as another storage area.  Would this card work?
The reason I'm gravitating to that card is that is that I see in the specs that is minimum 20MB/sec read transfer rate and it does not take up one of my USB slots.
However, even if it does work, would I be better off with their Echo ZX plug-and-forget it USB drive when they ship it?:
    http://lexarmedia.com/products/lexar-echo-zx-backup-drive-0?category=90
If both work, which would be faster as a storage drive?
    Thanks.

It is a SDHC card so it should work on the card reader of the W700.

If You Think iOS 7 Feels Slow Here’s How to Speed It Up
    http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/23/ios-7-slow-speed-it-up/
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Will the iPhone work with the Bose SoundDock Digital Music System?

I want to get one of the new Bose SoundDocks but I'm not sure if it will work with the iPhone. I know it works with the iPod Touch but I know it's a little thinner than the iPhone. Has anyone tried using the iPhone with one of these?

There isn't an adaptor that fits the iPhone but it works flawlessly with the iPhone. In fact, it works better with the iPhone than it does with the new Classic. The new Bose SoundDock has a nifty little remote that allows you to scan foward/backward through your playlists - this functionality works on the iPhone but not on a Classic iPod.

  • Will a US bought iPhone work in the UK?

My dads going to the US for a few days and he said he would get an iPhone 5.
When he comes back to the UK will he able to use it here of he gets an unlocked phone from apple?
He will also be going to Saudi Arabia to live there so can be use it there?
I know that's a lot but if he can what carriers in the UK will he be able to use. He might be pay as you go. Thanks.

LTE is the latest version of high speed cellular data networks, 3G being older technology that is being replaced with LTE (LTE is a 4th generation technology).  Even if you do not have an LTE network in your coverage area yet, you should still get cellular data with any 4g/LTE capable phone or tablet, just your data speeds will be lower as you will have to connect with 3G or even something older and slower in some places.
LTE operates on many different frequencies, and different carriers in different countries lease different frequencies (depending on what is available to them and what they can get).  So if you buy an iPhone that does not support the LTE frequencies in use by the carriers in your area, you cannot get the benefits of LTE data speeds when using cellular data (and LTE is noticeably MUCH faster than 3G, at least in my experience with AT&T in the USA).
That is the pitfall of buying a USA phone and trying to use it somewhere else - you may find you simply cannot actually take advantage of the best service available to you (and no carrier discounts your data plan just because you naively bought a phone that does not connect to their higher speed network).

  • Does iPhone work with the Apple Hi-Fi speakers

Thinking of buy the Apple Hi-Fi speakers. Does it work with the iPhone?

Neil is correct, it does work, a previous version of the firmware had some problems and could trigger the warning message you refer to, suggesting airplane mode. In fact, airplane mode is a good idea because the GSM interference will be really loud on the HiFi.
The HiFi has been discontinued, have you been able to find one?

  • Would an unlocked iphone bought in the usa work in the uk with a uk sim card

I am looking to buy an unlocked iphone 4s on my next trip to the usa and was wondering if it would work back in the uk with a uk sim card?

If it is truly unlocked, yes. Note, though, that you would get no warranty or other support for a US-sold iPhone in the UK. Should it ever need service, you'd have to send the iPhone to someone you know in the US to get it serviced. So think hard before you decide to purchase a US iPhone.
    Regards.

  • Would a wireless bridge work with the Home Hub 5?

Hi there. I am wondering if I might avail myself of the community's advice and wisdom. I'm due to have Infinity 2 installed in a week or two, but I have a few concerns about how to get things working properly. Mainly I am wondering how on earth to connect my PC to it, when they won't be on the same floor in the house. The worrying over this almost has me rethinking the wisdom of changing from my old ISP of twelve years.
The Home Hub 5 will be installed downstairs at the master socket (or whatever that thing is called), but the family PC (currently wired to a Netgear DGT2200 'N' modem/router) is upstairs. I can't run wires all over the house (so sayeth the wife) so I am a bit stuck thinking of a solution that is workable. My neighbour had his Master Socket moved (I think) to solve a similar issue, but I'd prefer not to (if the engineers would even offer that) as access to the socket for the study is really restricted by several very full and rather rickety bookshelves.
I was thinking of using a wireless 802.11ac bridge, like the Linksys WUMC710, so I can connect a PC, Xbox360, SkyHD box and Blu player to the network whilst not having to use 4 separate adapters. However that bridge is single band only, (frankly I can't find a dual band AC bridge). Would the 5ghz signal from the Home Hub 5 be strong enough upstairs, bearing in mind it has to go up one floor and through one (admittedly paper thin) wall (the study is nearly directly above where the hub would be positioned)? It would rather defeat the object of switching to FTTC if the only room with a decent connection is the one where I only use ipads, another SkyHD box and very occasionally a laptop. The PC is arguably the one device that I want/need a good connection for work/play.

I'd hoped I was done with wondering what to do on this, but more reading has confused me even further.
    1. If I did ask the engineer (likely a contractor I gather) to have the master socket moved upstairs (and he agreed to do it), is it true that the current telephone extension sockets would not longer work unless rewired? Not a deal breaker as I only use one of them for the master unit for my cordless phones.
    2. If the engineer either refused to move the Master Socket or I opted not to ask due to the extension socket issue, am I correct in thinking I can pay something like £130 for a BT Engineer to come out to specifically move the Master Socket and rewire the extension sockets? The difference in cost between that and buying good powerline extenders and a switch is not that much (especially if I'd lose less connection speed by doing that). Actually I think a friend of my father's is a BT engineer...I should probably be asking him this.

  • How does texting with a non iPhone work on the mcbp with the new software?

With OS X Yosemite and if you have an iPhone that is using iOS 8 your are suppose to be able to send and receive SMS text messages right from the mac. This is suppose to be working regardless of what phone they are using ... has anybody figured out how to make that work?

  • Will iPhone work with the iPad kb in ios4?

Can anyone confirm whether the new os4 enables the use
of the kb dock with the iphone 3GS?
I would find that very useful indeed!

From footnote 1 on this page: http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/ios4-software-update.html
Not all features are compatible with all devices. For example, multitasking, custom wallpaper, and Bluetooth keyboard support are available only with iPhone 4, _iPhone 3GS_, and the third-generation iPod touch (32GB and 64GB models from late 2009).

  • Why would a rented movie work on the ground but not in the air?

This is the craziest thing.  I rented a movie from my MacBook Pro and then transferred it to my iPad 2 for a flight.  However once I got on the plane each time I tried to open it I received a message that the movie could not be opened.  OK.  I figured I made a mistake in the transfer.  Once I got home I tried to open the movie again (in Airplane mode, just to be sure) and it loaded right up.  I didn't press play since I was leaving on another flight in two days.  Got on the flight and had the exact same problem.  Once I landed I tried it again and it loaded right up, but I didn't hit play because I have another flight on Friday.  What are the odds it will occur three times in a row?  I have 20 days left on the rental and about six more flights.  This could be fun.
To lend a little irony to the situation the movie is "Up In The Air".  Anyone have any clue what the heck is going on?  The only variable among the two instances is that in the air I had headphones plugged in, but on the ground I didn't.

    Hi Dominique:
First-if your mac can control the camera but not see the video,
    *Open Garageband
    *Play a note or two
    *Close Garageband
    *Open iMovie
    The camera will work now-REALLY!!
