Would apple support be able to track my stolen 3 month old ipod touch?
I recently had my ipod touch stolen from a jobsite, and was wondering if anyone knew if apple support could track it by the serial number and/or user id? or if they would even do that. I just found out that there is an app for that called find my ipod. I did not have this installed, but will if I get it back. Can anyone help me out with some helpfull information? I am in the process of filing a police report so that I have proof that it was stolen.
Apple will not help find or locate your stolen iPod. Make sure you change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod. Also see:

In addition to what Kappy said, note that Apple won't track it for you either. They don't help with stolen hardware... can't, really. Can you imagine the liability and publicity issues if, for example, they tracked an iPhone that was supposedly stolen and ended up helping an abusive husband find and harm the wife who was trying to leave him?
In addition, note that you can only use Find My iPhone if you have a MobileMe account and have set up that account on your device. (And I'm not actually sure if it works with an iPod Touch.) If you have done that, and it works with an iPod, you can find your device by logging in to MobileMe on any computer. -
Is it possible to reorder an iPhoto book 2 years later? My hard drive crashed and the photo book is no longer in my iPhoto but Apple printed it for me before the crash. Would Apple still be able to print another copy?
For future books you might consider doing what I do: create a separate library for each book andcopy the photos for the book from your working library to the book library with iPhoto Library Manager.
When the book is completed and ordered burn the library package to a CD, DVD or external HD to archive it so it's available for editing and reordering at a later date if needed. -

You can't back up to iCloud until you update to iOS 5 or higher. You will have to back up your iPod on your computer using iTunes. Update iTunes on your computer to the latest version, then connect your iPod to your computer, open iTunes, if iTunes give you a pop-up asking if you want to update your iPod, decline. Then click on the name of your iPod in iTunes, go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases to transfer any purchased media to your iTunes library. Next, go to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click on Back Up Now to back up your iPod on your computer.
When it's done backing up, click on Check for Update (or Update) on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings. Allow your iPod to update, and leave it connected to your computer. At the end, it will restart and give you the option to restore to the iTunes backup you made earlier. Choose this option to restore your backup and sync your apps and other iTuens media to your phone.

If you can see it on the map of this app, you will know where is your iPhone in that moment.
REMEMBER: you can see your iPhone on the map of " Find my iPhone" only if it is online. Indeed you can't see your iPhone if it's offlined or switched of. -
My iphone recently got stolen so I purchased a new one and plugged it into the computer and it gives me 2 options:
1. Set up as new phone
2. Restore from backup of "___'s phone"
If I restore it from the back up of my stolen phone, will I still be able to track the stolen phone still? ThanksWhat I mean is still track my stolen one. I don't know if this will make sense to you but I'm thinking that if I restore the back up data on this phone..on my stolen phone it will like forget the icloud account or something and think this phone is the stolen one so when I go to track the stolen one, it will show that phone as the one I have now because I restored the back up from that phone.

It doesn't quite work that way. Transfer your music from the old computer to the new one. Then, sync the iPod.

I just found my old ipod touch (i think 1st generation) and would like to let my toddler use it instead of my phone. I am trying to download apps but it say I need to update to 4.3 but it won't let me update. I have the most recent itunes. any idea why? I saw a thread saying to purchase the newest software (that was posted a few years ago) I paid 4.95 for the software and it's still saying it can't be updated. Am I just SOL??
The 1G iPod can only go as high as 3.1.3. The 1G does not have an internal speaker or volume buttons on the upper left edge.

Do any fellow iTunes U administrators know anything about this? How is existing content presented in the new app? Would we need to change anything? How do we access / make available the new features?
The new features sound fantastic but it would have been nice to have some warning. I appreciate that Apple has to keep specific details about developments confidential but it's slightly disconcerting that iTunes U administrators were not forewarned about this new development and that there has been no mention of it on this forum. Also - and at the risk of sounding like a broken record - it really would be helpful for iTunes U administrators to have a private forum (perhaps an add-on to Public Site Manager) where we could discuss issues and share ideas and best practice etc.Greetings Tom;

Am I able to reset the battery of an iPod Touch 5G myself? Because my battery is doing strange. When I put it in a computer it says 'charging off'. When I put it in a charger it is normally charging but when I take it out, it says 20% battery life remaining. I put it in the charger the whole night but I don't know what's wrong. But after it says 20% it turns off (of course) but when I turn it on, the battery is 100%! I didn't even put it in a charger! And then the same story begins. over and over.
Hey Ron61, Don't know about resetting the battery, but you can do a reset of the iPod. Start with a soft reset. Press and hold the power and home buttons together, until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds+/-) then release both buttons. If no joy, then go into Settings>General>Reset then tap Reset All Settings. If that does my work try allowing your iPod to drain down until it turns off, then charge at least 4 hours. Also try a different cable, the lighting cables have a history of failing / shorting out. And inspect your charging port on the iPod for foreign debris or damage. If still not joy, make a full set of backups of everything on this iPod to your computer then try to Restore for Backup or last resort Restore to New. If none of the above work, contact your Apple store or Apple Genius Bar and have your iPod evaluated for possible hardware issue. Bring you cable alone also. Good luck. Cheers.

Nothing. The 2nd Gen Touch is OBSOLETE and is WAY past its support life. If you want to run the newer apps you have to buy a newer iPod. -

You should go to a nearest Phone Repairs store near you , and they should be able to help you there ! Otherwhise search online for iPad screen repair and send your device by post to an apple store or to a repair store !

I have a very old IPod Touch First generation, it has the majority of my music on it under a previous Apple ID, I recently Upgraded to an IPod 4, got myself a New Apple Mac and changed my Apple ID, Two of my old Computers are now broken and inaccessible, and my 1st generation IPod has exceeded the amount of computers it can be on. How can I deactivate the two broken computers and get all of my old music onto my new mac and my new IPod?
