Would appreciate help with applecare difficulties

I have a 1ghz G4 14” ibook that was purchased in December of 2003 along with the extended applecare plan. Since then, I’ve sent it in, under warranty, 4 times for the same problem; this will be my fifth attempt to have the flickering lcd backlight repaired.
This is obviously a problem and complete waste of my time, but what irritates me more is that the ibook has been returned, by applecare, every time with more problems and even damages.
The ibook came back from the first “repair” with light scratches and deep gouges on the outer case plastics. The deep gouges are located on the underside of the ibook, where it looks like the computer was placed on a tool or improper work surface and then slide around. The case plastics are misaligned and poorly reassembled. The lcd backlight problem was unresolved.
The second “repair” replaced the perfectly functioning combo drive for some unknown reason. Now the combo drive scratches discs, misreads discs, and sounds like my garbage disposal. The lcd backlight problem was unresolved. Beginning at this point is when adjusting the display angle can influence the backlight flickering.
Applecare kept my ibook for almost 2 weeks on the third attempted repair. We had an apple genius observe and note the problem with the flickering lcd. Apple told us that the computer would now be fixed because a genius had witnessed and documented the problem. Applecare kept the computer in observation for 2 weeks and then sent it back, functioning improperly, because they couldn’t replicate the already documented problem.
Upon delivery of the fourth “repair” attempt is when I was most disgusted; I found my ibook barely reassembled. It seemed that whoever had worked on my ibook was sick of having it pass through their hands repeatedly and believed that nothing was wrong with it. They decided that destroying my ibook would be a good deterrent against me sending it in again. Besides for the loose screws and open seams along the plastics, the backlight is stuck at about 50% brightness and the clicker/charging board randomly acknowledges mouse clicks and will not charge any of my batteries.
It feels that powerbook repairs take precedence over ibook repairs, because I have had nothing but great service from applecare regarding my rev. a 12" pbg4.
I guess I would just like to hear some suggestions about how to deal with this and have the ibook properly repaired. How do I email apple's customer service? My phone calls just lead all over to people I can't trace and "promises" that aren't documented.

You need to contact Apple Customer Relations. You can get to them (in the US) by dialing the AppleCare Support number, but pressing "0" instead of one of the other options to get to an operator. Ask them to connect you. Be prepared with the dates and case numbers for your previous repairs and the problems your iBook came back with. Be friendly, but firm, and request that this time your iBook is replaced rather than repaired. There's no guarantee they'll agree to it right away, but they may agree that the next time you should get a replacement.

    For example to populate a NumericField1 on the form when the selection was made in ListBox1, you need to use some thing like this.
    Place the code in the Exit event of the ListBox. Language is JavaScript.
         NumericField1.rawValue = ListBox1.rawValue;
    rawValue will give the value that was assigned in the Binding tab.

    i have done this on my ipad mini and my imac but they are still not syncing. my iphone 4 has the icloud symbol but it seems to be unresponsive to touch, I cannot get it to highlight or turn-on. Bit confused.

    It's not completely obvious. What you have to do in Spaces is to position your cursor to the upper right of the screen, after which faint + (plus) sign appears in that area. Click that, upon which another Desktop will appear.
    The + may be difficult or impossible to see with some desktop backgrounds (black, for instance):

    Unfortunately, most of my advice is in the "hindsight is 20-20" category.
    First off, I would never have purchased the peripheral accessories until the 14 day return period had expired. Second, you learned the hard way what the "14 days" really means.
    Too bad you didn't do any homework, reading this and other forums and tech sites. Even word of mouth from others. That, more than anything could have steered you towards different phone choices from the get-go and I will leave that there with no further comment other than to say most of the issues you described have been discussed in this forum, ad nauseam.
    Once you got into the refurbished phone exchanges, that is where things really went haywire. What someone tells you over the phone is a sketchy proposition, and when it comes down to it, it's your word against theirs.
    I think Verizon tried to make it right, though. Remember, they don't make the phones. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
    You stated yourself you were a satisfied Verizon customer before this. Had the first two phones performed as they should, you would still be a satisfied Verizon customer.
    Doubt any of that will make you any happier, but after you went through the effort of writing such a long post, I thought I'd try.

    Open the email and then from the File menu select Save As Rich Text Format. That'll save it to open in TextEdit. If you want a pdf then open the email and do command-p (Print) and then from the PDF drop down box lower left corner select Save as PDF.

  • Would appreciate help am having problems with iCal duplicate entries (100's!!) which I cannot clear?

    I have manually deleted and edited duplicates and originals of events and reminders etc many many times but have had no success and i mean hundreds of duplications!   Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

    Hi Margaret,
    iCal Dupe Deleter sees events with the same start time and title that are also in the same calendar as duplicates. If your events are in different calendars then it will not see them as duplicate.
    You do not say how you are syncing to your iPhone, but as it is an Outlook calendar you are syncing I expect it will be via iTunes.  If so, this is what I suggest you do.
    1. Turn off the Outlook syncing. You'll find the place to do this under Outlook's Preferences > General Preferences > Sync Services.
    2. Then sync your iPhone (if it is not via iTunes let me know).
    3. Open iCal and if there are any remnants of the Outlook calendars in iCal delete the calendars.
    4. Open Outlook and turn on Calendar syncing again.
    5. Open iTunes with your iPhone plugged in. Select the iPhone on the left and then select the Info section at the top. Scroll down to the  Calendars section and turn on syncing for the calendars. Then scroll down to the Advanced section and check to replace the calendar information on the iPhone next sync.
    6. Sync your iPhone.
    Let me know how this goes.

    okay so whenever i plug my ipod in it tells me i need to download the newst version of itunes. This has been happening for a while now. Everytime i try to download the newer version it says that downloading will start automatically. It then tells me to do something with my updater. Now i know this probably might sound extremely dumb but i dont even know what a updater is. And its really frustrating me that this whole thing doesnt seem to be working because it tells me i cant put any songs on my ipod anymore since i dont have the lastest version. If anyone could be absolutely wonderful and help me out here i would seriously appreciate it

    hmmm. is it asking you to download the latest version of itunes, or the latest version of the ipod software? these are two different packages.

    hey guys and gals, i really need help. i've been trying to fix my iTunes software for months now. Without further ado, here's what happened:
    installed itunes
    deleted quicktime accidently
    installed quicktime
    installed itunes
    itunes still doesn't work
    installed and reinstalled multiple times from both the c.d. and itunes.com
    Therefore, when i attempt to open my itunes program, the dialoge box stating, "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Send error report, dont send."
    the details of the error report are:
    "information regarding the condition of iTunes when the problem occured; the operating system version and computer hardware in use; your digital product id, which could be used to identify your license; and internet protocol(ip) address of your computer.

    these wernt present in my add/remove programs list. but itunes was.
    "Uninstall iPod Updater
    5) In Add/Remove Programs, select iPod Updater. Click Change/Remove.
    6) A Confirm Uninstall window appears. Select OK to remove iPod Updater.
    7) Repeat for any and all iPod Updaters.
    Uninstall QuickTime
    8) In Add/Remove Programs, select QuickTime. Click Change/Remove.
    9) The QuickTime Uninstall window appears. Select the Uninstall Everything.
    10) The Uninstall Successful window appears. Select OK.
    11) Close all windows, restart the computer."

    13) Delete iPod, iTunes and QuickTime folders if present.
    it wont let me delete quicktime folder, but i deleted ipod and itunes folder with ease. and with that,i deleted quicktime AND itunes in "apple computer folder" i did this entire process several times, and the same message popped up. however, i think it's those missing componets that's screwing my itunes up. it gets really fustrating after awhile.

  • Help with hugely difficult Finder difficulties?

    Okay, I need help, if anyone has it to offer. Here is my computer's history and symptoms:
    It's a MacBook, 18 months old, running 10.5.5. For a while it worked fine and there have been no recent significant installations. My wife uses it for writing and while she does connect to the internet, she does almost no downloading or even viewing of any unusual websites.
    Recently it began showing the spinning beachball far more often than usual, usually when browsing for a file from inside another application (that is, when attaching a document to an email or opening a document through Word). The beachball would interrupt for about 8-12 seconds, a very annoying difficulty. So far, though, livable.
    Last week the computer spontaneously started up to the prohibitary sign. It had not been shut down improperly nor had anyone made any changes to the system software. I tried some things that didn't work, then called tech support (for $50, of course) and they had me delete the user's caches folder in safe mode and restart. This seemed to work, only the beachball problem got worse; it started happening when regularly in the finder: opening folders, clicking on menus, etc. An 8-12 second delay.
    Today the prohibitary sign appeared again and I followed the same steps, with mixed results. It is now able to boot up, but has only minimal function. The beachball appears for 8-12 seconds at any click of the mouse, on a menu, a menu item, a folder, a file, etc. The desktop is not right; there is a desktop picture that's supposed to display but instead I see about the top 1/2 inch of that picture, then the rest of the screen is blue. This has happened the same way on multiple restarts. Furthermore, the dock will not show up and if I select "Turn hiding off" in the menu, nothing happens; that is, hiding is still turned on and moving the mouse down there does not work to unhide it. All applications I have tried are slow and prone to crashing.
    As an example of its current problems: I tried to look and see what was going on with the desktop, see if I could just tell it to put that picture up again and maybe it would work (a long shot, I know, but why not try?). I went to System Preferences (8-12 second beachball delay) and then Desktop/Screen Savers (another delay). It came up on "screen savers" so I clicked "desktop." This time, 20 second delay, then it crashed, you know, a "do you want to send an error report?" crash. This happened repeated times after repeated restarts.
    I know this is an insanely long post but I wanted to give as much info as possible. I am at a loss. Does anybody have any clear idea as to how to diagnose this problem and/or what steps might alleviate it? Much obliged. Thanks in advance!

    You seem to have multiple issues - not just with the browser. I think I would do an archive and install to "eliminate" software as an issue:

    An A&I installs a fresh OS X while preserving your files, programs, and settings. It is ALWAYS a good practice to back up before software changes. You would, of course, need to run software update after the A&I to bring things to a current level.

    There are three actionPerformed in that program.One for add Jbutton , Sort , and Exit
    the codes that i have added for add button after action performed are

    Wellcome to the forum!
    First check if you authored a HD DVD. These discs will only play in your Mac player and NOT in regular DVD players.
    Besides that, you can read this: * DVD Authoring/burning tips thread *.
    But remember, you must create a SD DVD (standard definition) not HD DVD.
