Would Doclet API helps while converting frame maker files to pdf files

Through Doclet API, can we convert frame maker (.fm) files to the PDF files ?
I have requirement that I need to convert bulk of frame maker files to the pdf files actually, while googling I came to know that Doclet may support.
If anyone has worked on this type of project, please help me.
Thanks a lot.

To produce PDF file using MIF doclet or from *fm files you still need Adobe FrameMaker.

    Welcome to the forum.
Wrong workflow. The RH project that created the CHM can
produce other outputs. What you do is create a printed output as
described in the Printed Documentation article on my site. Don't be
put off by the length of the article. Producing the output is
simple but the article explains pretty much everything in detail.
In theory you can output direct to PDF but most people find
there are some tweaks they want to make in Word first, better page
breaks and so on. You can also create the PDF from Word.

Try FOP and XSL style sheets. Although RPWithey is
correct that there is nothing to magically change a
viewable HTML file to PDF you can convert a single
HTML file to XML and use FOP to create a PDF. You will
need to manage the transition though.
If you want to change a random HTML file into PDF
dynamically this would take quite a bit more work. You
might be able to use JTidy to convert the HTML to XML
and then FOP to get to PDF but it will likely not be
formatted the way you wish. That's true - FOP does do that, doesn't it. It must have to make certain assumptions about the appearance of the output. If the output from the stylesheet is an HTML file, you might be able to bypass that bit altogether. I haven't really looked at FOP, although I've read the overview. Check it out at http://xml.apache.org/fop/index.html.

  • What Adobe Software should be download (free trail-WinXP) to convert word file to pdf file?

I would like to know where I can download the captioned required free trial for WinXP from your website which can help me to convert the word file to pdf file.

That would be Acrobat. anyway, if you just want to print to PDF, you can find enough free tools like GhostScript...

<b>XML to PDF</b>i want to Convert XML file into PDF file pl. any one can suggests API's

    Hi,
There are many ways to convert XML files to PDFs through java.
One of the easiest way is by using iText.jar which have classes for conversion.
The following are the required steps
    1. Create a document object for the XML file ( Using DOM or SAX parser).
    2. Parse the xml document and extract the content to write in PDF.
    3.Create a itext Document object.
4.Get a PdfWriter instance for the PDF file.
5.Write in the pdf the extracted text using the document object.
Refer <a href="http://itextdocs.lowagie.com/examples/com/lowagie/examples/general/HelloWorld.java">here</a> for a simple pdf writer example.
Refer <a href="http://java.sun.com/developer/codesamples/xml.html">here</a> for examples of XML Parsers.

How to make a scanned PDF file searchable? I bought an Adobe service which I thought allowed me to do this, but I do not see any instructions how to do it.

    Hi,
When using Adobe ExportPDF online service, it will run OCR itself when converting any PDF to other file format.
It also depends upon the quality of the scanned document, so it might be possible that it does not make the file searchable.

    Hey vcomfort6,
Please ensure that you are using Adobe Acrobat and not Reader to convert PDF file to word or excel.
Could you tell me whether it is a scanned document? Does this happen with all PDFs or any specific one?
Do you get any error message? What exactly happens when you try doing the same?
    Hope to hear from you.

I used to use the free version of Adobe Reader to convert my publisher files to pdf files. When I was making a booklet for our hockey team, it said I had to buy it. Now I bought it and it won't convert the files. I am ready to throw this computer out the window!! Can you tell me what is the problem? No it does not exceed 100 M. either.

Adobe Reader never converted Publisher files to PDF, for free, never. I suspect you use to have the (paid for) Adobe Acrobat. Sometimes people have Acrobat (more than $300 worth) and install Adobe Reader over the top, losing that valuable software.
That said, if you subscribed to PDF Pack it should do this conversion. What exactly happens now.

Please HELP! i cannot open any Adobe PDF files anymore. i DL the new version XI and since no files have opened - so i recently uninstalled it and re-installed adobe reader 9 but i am having the same problem - no pdf files open and its really causing a problem as i can not open any work documents. please help

Three things to try (Reader XI)...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Want help in converting XML Document to a postscript file

I want to convert XML Document to a postscript file in Java, not from command line. Any help is appreciated.

well, you first need an XML parser, which is easy to implement
then you need to either write the postscript out bit by bit or use a Java API that writes PostScript for you.
It's really simple, the trick is HOW you decide to write out the PS
