Would formatting the C drive trigger a "full" factory reset?

Hello!
I have a T510i with windows 7. I ran a factory reset from the F11 menu, but it didn't really reset everything and now my windows udates doesnt work anymore. All of them fail, but i keep getting new ones.
My question is, if I format the C drive, can i then run the factory reset from F11, and would the wipe force it to do a full reset?
Also, what partitions should exist? I have the C drive and the recovery drive, should there be any more?

I bought it aprox 14 months ago, so it might just have ended. I'm not sure for how long my warranty was and I can't access those documents now, as I'm right about to go on a 6 month trip to India. (DESPERATLY trying to fix my computer before I go).
I don't know if the long story will be necessary but I'll give it here FYI:
I split my main partition in two to run a dual boot with Ubuntu. From this point on I started getting INVALID_KERNEL_HANDLE BSOD's in Windows randomly. So, I deleted the Ubuntu partitions and extended the Windows partition back to it's original size (or so I think), but the same BSOD still appears.
So I enter the F11 menu and do a factory reset. Unfortunately nothing was really reset, except that Google Chrome dissappeared.
Next move was to make sure that the machine was fully updated. But then, after running updates for two days i noticed that all updates was flagged as Failed. And that's where I am stuck now. I guess the BSOD is because something is now wrong in the partition table, and the windows updates fail becuase of the "factory reset".
The alternative I'm looking for now is a total factory reset, hoping maybe this can be done by first formating C:, but I don't want to try it without first consulting you guys.

Update: The iBook can play any 480p video and higher if I encode them with DivX and in AVI format. But of course this is not compatible with my iPhone 4. At least I can shrink my library now and get away from the full MPEG-2s. I don't get why I can't use Apple's h264 though. There has to be a setting I am missing. The sample Apple h264 videos from the days of Tiger worked flawlessly on my iBook when it was new so the CPU must be capable of decoding it. I really can't understand this.
Also, since I made my videos in English for my family, I had to create soft subtitles for my wife's Chinese family, and I can't get players like QT with perian or MPlayerX to sync them properly to an AVI encoded with DivX, they only sync well with the iPhone 4 m4v/mp4 formatted files I made. This is a real pickle.
So now I may need three or four copies of each video, LOL. I need to hardcode the subtitles if I want to use AVI to playback on older machines, and keep the mp4 file for the iDevices too, while keeping higher quality h264 videos for my American relatives...
If h264 is compatible with my iBook, what is the proper encoding settings? Must I dramatically lower the settings or frame rate? I can settle on 2 copies of each video that way. One iBook/G4/eMac compatible video that syncs correctly with my srt soft subs, and another version that works well with my iPhone 4 and iPad.
All in all, I will end up with more than 3 or 4 version of each video. On my late G5 dual core I have the full 720-1080p uncompressed master files. On my i5 iMac I have the h264 compressed versions for distribution, and lower versions for my iDevices. Now I need to keep either full MPEG-2 files for the iBook to play, or convert to older formats like DivX AVI for our family's legacy machines. I am running out of hard disk space quick now, LOL.
Is there an easier way?

I am fairly new to mac computers. and was wondering if there is anyone out there who could help. I have an Imac running Snow Leopard which is becoming very slow in starting up. I want to format the hard drive but still want to retain the applications etc already on the Imac. Can I just time machine the computer then insert thte OS disk which will format the hard drive? Will this give me a better start up time?

If you format the hard drive, you'll lose all your data. You can make a Time Machine backup, format the disk and restore from the backup only what you need

                    i am having window xp pro sp3 running machine with 2GB of RAM, 150GB Hdd, C drive 30GB, D drive 60GB, E drive 60GB. After installing all the application its show the remaining space as 14GB but day after day the space reduced now the space is only 238MB. i Checked the properties of the C drive by selecting all the folder and it show 17.3GB. i dont know what happen to the another 15GB.i cant find which is eating the C drive space. i cant defragment the C drive because to defragment i need 15% of disk space. my doubt is it may be of antivirus (i am using norton internet security). i installed .net2008, sql2008, office,Hpprinter softwares.how can i resolve this without formatting the C: drive. This is a little list I have also put together for our 2003 servers, should work fine for XP.

About all you can do is wait until it finishes or you get an error message.

If the format is NTFS, which it likely is, then follow Ralph's advice, but youmay also want to partition it with GUID partition table.
In Disk Utility, select the drive, then Partiiton tab.
Choose 1-partition from the popup menu.
Click the Options button (it is only enabled if you change the partition layout, above).
Select GUID partition table.
Then, give the drive a Name and format of Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
If you wish to use the drive with Windows, use MSDOS or exFAT. MSDOS will limit files sizes to 2GB. Some think exFAT is flakey.

Yes, the CD-ROM drive must be jumpered as Master in order for it to be bootable.
Your G4 (PCI) should have two built-in IDE buses - one is usually assigned to the CD-ROM and Zip drives, and the other is used for hard drives. If you have the hard drive connected to the same bus as the one the CD-ROM is on, try switching the hard drive to the other bus.
Set the hard drive's jumpers as Master.
Exception - if the hard drive is a Western Digital, it may have a third position, Single, which must be used when the drive is the only device on the bus.
Note - Cable Select jumper settings will not work on a G4 (PCI).

Startup Manager, which is what booting with Option held down invokes, is not available on a G4 (PCI).

If your Mac is a 2011 model and originally came with Lion Pre-Installed by Apple then you can use the Internet Recovery HD system to Wipe/Erase the Complete drive and Re-Install Lion.
If it is an older model, even and early 2011 model, that did NOT come with Lion Pre-Installed by Apple you can not sell or give it away with Lion installed on it. You have to install the original version of OS X on it.

That sort of thing doesn't happen automatically,. Someone had to change it. Just rename it anything you like. Right click on it and select Get Info then in the Name and Extension are name what you like.

I own a 2011 macbook pro 17" and it my disk is almost full so the computer is frezzing all the time and stuff. So i thought of formatting the drive and reinstalling the OS but i can't find the dvd's that came with it and i'm really not sure if there were any dvd's that came with it. Why do I do?
I have a friend who has a 2011 macbook pro 13". Will his dvd's work on mine?
