Would I need any BIOS/GPU BIOS update?

Hello all,
within couple of days/weeks I am about to buy this MSI gtx770 Ligtning gpu

My question is:
Will I need any Bios/gpu bios updates to make it work properly? Also, how do I uninstall AMD drivers so they dont go over with nvidia?

No, it should be fine in your current board. Else you can still update when you have the card using the igpu.
To get rid of the AMD drivers remove them insafemode using >>Driver Fusion<< (freeversion is enough). After reboot you can install the nvidia drivers.

Long bios load time with gtx970 - maybe need gpu bios update?

I just installed my gtx 970 and it all runs fine. However I get a very long bios load time on boot up. Normally it only takes a second or two with a single beep. With the 970 though I get the single beep and the bios load screen, but it sits at that screen for a long time, then another beep, waiting, eventually another beep, and after some more waiting windows will start to load.
My problem is that now I can also no longer get in to the bios. I have tried even plugging in a ps/2 keyboard to see if maybe that could get me in. The farthest I get after hitting delete to enter is I just end up at a black screen. My mobo has no onboard gpu output, so its not like its trying to go to a monitor I cant see.
So would any gpu bios updates fix this? I am currently at the latest bios for my board which updated it to a uefi bios.
cpu: i7-2600k (yes Im aware I will only have pcie2)
mobo: gigabyte z68 d3-b3
ram: 16gb
gpu: MSI gtx 970 Gaming (previous was an evga gtx 660)

I dont remember seeing any boot mode select. As far as connections I am using all DVI for my monitors. I have also tried only having a single one connected in case there were issues with multiple monitors

After reading up it looks like it was just a revision to allow ivy bridge devices, which happened a long long time ago on a bios update:

BIOS Erased on update in Windows

Toshiba offers BIOS updates that are executable within Windows, but, after trying to and failing, I read that you should never do BIOS updates within Windows on a Toshiba product. Kind of silly that it's an option given that they consistently fail.
So now, I am faced with an erased BIOS and a need to restore it. I have the BIOS backup on disk, and I have read about others that have this problem on other models. What I am asking for is directions to restore the BIOS as the other threads that I have read are, or seem to be, specific to other models.
Model: L455-S5975
Part: PSLY0U-00V001
The laptop will power up, nothing on the display, and it seems to want to read from a CD/DVD. I tried using my BIOS.BAK file that I recovered from the HDD. I renamed the BAK file BIOS.fd, BIOS.ROM in attempts to get the machine to restore the original BIOS, no luck.
I tried using CrysDisk to make a bootable USB, no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.

Updated bios via Live Update and now my Network card isn't detected

I have an msi Z87-GD65 Gaming Motherboard and I updated some drivers and the bios via msi Live Update 6 last night and now my computer refuses to recognize my network adapter. The adapter is a TRENDnet N600, plugs into PCIe if I'm not mistaken. Wifi if my only option with this computer, I can't use ethernet, so it's really important I get the network card working again. I have had zero issues with it until this.
The reason I was updating was to try to get my third monitor to work when plugged into the mobo, while my other two were plugged into the graphics card (which I also installed yesterday, but it's working fine). Note that it still was not working, but I had enabled the IGD Multi-Monitor from bios.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I did try uninstalling the drivers but it still won't detect the network card. I also tried disconnecting and reconnecting the network card (and I cleaned the port for good measure).
I've only been using Windows computers for a year, so bear with me if there's stuff I don't know. Thanks in advance. I can try to get a full list of what was installed later tonight, but all of it that I can find has been uninstalled at this point.

X301 post BIOS / Model Number update System Time problems

Dear community,
I recently updated my BIOS using the thinkvantage flash BIOS utility for no reason other than it appeared on the update utility. I also updated the model number, once again for no real reason other than update pleasure. Now, everything works perfectly fine on the system, and I have no problems EXCEPT:
I use New York Times Adobe Air product called "Times Reader". Since the update, when I try to log into the Times Reader I get an error that states "Authentication Error. Check that your system time is set correctly." In the pre-boot set up screen the time seems to be set right, and in the windows utility the time is set correctly. So my questions is,
after a BIOS flash / Model # update, does the system time function need some re-boot / update?

Well I still dunno what the problem was. It seemed as if the system would have to be running for a day or two before it would start to speed up, as if it was actually gaining a few milliseconds cumulatively every second...
Anyway, through other testing (OC & such) I flashed to 1.5B5 and it is running pretty good, and seems to have fixed the time problem.
On a side note, 1.5B5 is the first BIOS that actually makes Cool 'N Quiet work (to underclock to 1GHz at idle & dynamically OC when needed).
If anyone has experienced this time issue, please post findings! For now, it's fixed for me, so I'm not going to worry about it

Satellite C660 Wireless stopped since BIOS 1.4 Update

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me with a new problem with my Laptop.
I have a Satellite C660, and when it was new had some issues with the Wireless, and it not working when disconnect from the Mains. This was resolved by downloading the latest drivers from the REALTEK Website, and all has been perfect since until a couple of days ago.
The TOSHIBA Bullettin Board advised of some critical updates, and I followed the steps given. This I believe has updated the BIOS to version 1.4
Since then, I cannot get WIRELESS to work at all. It says it's enabled, I've reinstalled the latest drivers, but to no avail. It simply says there's no WIRELESS CONNECTIONS AVAILILABLE. I've used another laptop and confirmed the wireless network is fine (indeed I can pickup many other in the area with my old laptop).
Having done all the tests, I cannot get this working at all.
Can anyone advise if it's a problem with the BIOS Update, or if there is any simple way of testing if it's simply a hardware fault. The Laptop is only a few months old, so any advise most welcome.

Ok, so today I got a phone call from the company who performs repairs on Toshiba's behalf. They told me that it is not a hardware problem. They removed the wireless card, put it into another machine, and it is working without any problems. They said there must be some software issue and advised me to restore the machine to its original factory state. I really hope this solves the problem, otherwise I'll be left with a brand new laptop with no wi-fi connectivity. :/
P.S. Has anyone any ideas what might be causing this problem? All the drivers, bios etc. are up to date, but some software appears to be disabling, or blocking, wi-fi access. Ethernet connection is fine. I have both avast anti-virus and zonealarm installed. Could either of these programs block wi-fi access but not a LAN access via an ethernet cable?
I would really appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

Ok, a topic I see very often on many forums, and several times here, is the following; How to flash bios, how to setup the bios settings, and how to setup the raid array, and then setup the bios to boot from the raid array. Could we perhaps pull our heads togheter and write a detailed guide on these three topics, taking into account how to do it on the most used (commonly written about) MSI boards? and perhaps put as a sticky?
It would help many novice users trying to deal with these problems. I am willing to write on the subject of flashing bios on the MSI K8N SLI Platinum and how to install a Bios Saviour.

ATI Radeon HD 6770m + Intel 3000 GPU BIOS rom required

Hello everybody, Mine is the HP Pavilion dv6 6173cl. Everytime it freezes loading Windows. I've checked all the hardware and found out there's Videocard rom unreadable. Need to flash it once again. So, please, if there's anybody having the same config. I mean 6770m + Intel 3000, do me a favor and back your GPU BIOS up (for example that's easy to do using GPU-Z utility) and share with me.Thanks in advance.

Hello there! That problem was solved another way. Unfortunately it was not a rom issue. It means the video-card got burnt. There's 1 solution to resurrect it. You can bake it for 10 minutes. After that procedure some video-cards are back to life but for short period, mine just lived for 2 more days)))Best solution is to chage the motherboard. Very easy procedure and costs about 90-100USD. Need to buy using the exact part number. For dv6 6173cl it is 659148-001. Note! DO NOT EVER BUY USED MOTHERBOARDS!!! They have no warranty period and 100% all are defective. Thus you should find some good shop (forget about ebay and aliexpress)... you can try hpparts.us

well i reinstalled my x64 win7 after the bios update (full wipe) and the problem remained the same...
also tried older nvidia drivers too( but i played the game with the newest without any errors) and tried the stable one that was with the vga. still freezing the game

If you have an HDMI connection on your computer, it is most likely an output, it won't recieve a signal unless it's on a video capture card. Recording to the PC could be a difficlut task. HDMI is encrypted to keep you from copying but there are ways to do it. It would also depend on what content you intended on recording. If it's movies you have purchased or rented, it would be illegal.
