Would InDesign CC6 support Arabic text?

I am using a trial version of InDesign C6 via Creative Cloud in view to purchasing and using it in English/Arabic environment. The Arabic fonts are there but the text is reversed! Any advice is appreciated.

For Indesign CC ME, on Creative Cloud Desktop select Preferences on the top right then select Apps>App Language choose (English Hebrew or English Arabic)

  • Does Photoshop Elements 11 Support Arabic text?

    Hello,
I am planning to buy Photoshop Elements 11. I downloaded the trail version to test if it supports Arabic because I will be using it mainly for inserting Arabic text in pictures. Unfortunately, it does not support Arabic text properly. Direction is going left to right and it should be going right to left. Also, the letters are disconnected and they should be connected.
I have been told to try the middle eastern version, however, I am living in the UK and I cannot access the middle eastern website, the website takes me back to the UK one!
Another suggestion is to buy the full version of Photoshop which is very expensive and I am not going to use it. I am a beginner I only use it to add comments to pictures and to combine pictures etc. I am not an advanced user. So the full version is a waste for me.
Could you Please help me with this?
    Best regards,
    Saleh

  • Indesign 2014 - manipulating Arabic text

    Hi All,
We are trying desperately to get Indesign CC 2014 to work with arabic copy, but have cone across some rather fruity issues.
Using the plain text ( copied from text edit ), are inserting arabic text ( arial font ) into a document.
As you will see from the screen grab, the single line world editor is selected.
But as you will also see from the screen grab - the full point on the arabic sentence in at the wrong end of the line - it should read to the left.
This has happened in several files - but we cannot find any solution.
Here is another example...the larger paragraph is set no differently, yet reads correctly. The smaller copy does not.
Strangely enough, the Adobe guide to using Arabic copy in CC, demonstrate menu options that we don't have ( indesign CC 2014 )
It also appear that any type of return ( hard or soft) will affect the orientation of the line - so we took them out and presto! the line read correctly.
But put them back in and the full point skips to the end of the line and make the sentence incorrect.
Can anyone explain what is going on ??
    Thanks in advance
    Everafter13

Sounds like the key here is that you don't have an ME enabled version installed (which has those extra settings for story direction).
If you change the language settings in the CC Desktop App using the Gear icon I believe you should be able to download the Arabic/English version to get what you need.

  • How will adobe Flex SDK 3.2 supports arabic text on Mac Systems

    Hi,
We have developed a webapplication using Adobe Flex SDK 3.2. the content in the application is in arabic language. We Arabic text on Mac Systems is unreadable, but the same arabic language/text is perfect and accurate if viewed in Windows systems.
Please help us in finding a solution.
What we need is the arabic text should be accurate and readable on Mac systems.
    Thankyou
    regards
    sandeep

The legacy TextField class in Flash Player -- which is the basis for all text display in Flex 3 components -- does not properly support right-to-left or bidirectional languages such as Arabic. However, the newer Flash Text Engine (FTE) APIs in Player 10, and the Text Layout Framework (TLF) library that is built on top of FTE, support bidirectional text.
If you use Flex 3.X you will have to write directly to the FTE or TLF APIs. If you use Flex 4.X, you can just use the Spark component set, which use FTE/TLF for text display. The MX components in Flex 4 still use TextField by default but can be configured to use FTE/TLF.

  • Does InDesign CC support Japanese text?

I am trialling Creative Cloud on a Mac, and want to find out if InDesign CC will support the formatting of Japanese text with Furigana. I have tried copying and pasting text from a Word document into InDesign, but the furigana disappears from above the kanji, and appears in brackets after each character. I also note that Japanese appears to be missing from the list of languages when I try to assign a language to the text, though Japanese fonts are supported.

I don't have much experience with furigana/ruby, and they are not a hot topic around here so I hope someone who knows better will answer -- maybe one of the contributors to this Jan. 2012 thread.   Best of all would be confirmation that the Japanese version of InDesign imports MS Word furigana correctly: it ought to, of course, but given the complaints around here about ID's importing of MS Word files I'm not holding my breath.
Both HTML5 and Epub3 include furigana, which bodes well for the future.  Meanwhile back in the present one must get work out the door.  The first thing to try is to import ("place") the text into ID rather than paste it in from the clipboard.  If importing *.docx fails, the usual advice is to try *.rtf or *.doc (obviously, the older formats might not handle furigana as well).  After that, well, I suppose I'd look into Word conversions to HTML or XML to see about massaging elements in those formats to yield something useful either during import into ID with an XSLT transformation of XML, or afterwards in ID with Javascript.  (Here I have in mind the hoops people jump through getting footnotes into InDesign from Word and XML.)
    Good luck!
    David

Kindly suggest how will I get arabic downloaded and sent as attachment
in email. Can I write a file to application server and send that
particular file as attachement? Can I use BCS class for mailing excel
file? Will it support arabic text?

with Excel it is always a good idea to encode your data in UTF-16 LE.
to do so, take your internal table in SOLI format and call
    CL_BCS_CONVERT=>TXT_TO_SOLIX
    with iv_codepage = 4103 and iv_add_bom = 'X'.
you will get a binary table SOLIX as a result and just have to attach it to your message

  • Arabic text in indesign

    Hi
I have indesign cs6 version 8.0.2. I would like to know how I can have a document that has arabic and english text. As when i copy and paste my arabic text into a text window, with the correct font selected (adobe arabic), it does not work. Do I need to download a specific plug in? do I need the Middle east version of Indesign?
Please can someone help. Its for a brochure that is in arabic and english in teh same file.
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
Please select all the Arabic text in InDesign and either go to Paragraph Palette flyout menu or Control panel fly out menu. You'll find a host of composers. Please select Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer instead of Adobe Paragraph Composer. And your Arabic texts will work.
You don't need to download a specific plug in. Ideally, You should need Middle east version of InDesign to get other design related ME features.
    Thanks,
    Irfan

  • HT4637 Hi, does it support Arabic language; text and numerals?

I have just purchased a macbook pro, first time to switch from a PC. I am really impressed wirh the overall experience of my new powerhouse with one MAJOR drawback; the Arabic Text and numeral support within the microsoft office package of applicatIons. I tried the openoffice package, and althought it partially solved the problem, yet I still suffer from compatability issues, be it with old microsoft office files that I already have or even newly created ones. So i figured maybe I should turn to Apple's native software packages, since I know that the laptop itself supports Arabic, so then maybe the problem would be inherant to the microsoft for Mac. Can anyone help me whether this assumption is true or not, and which spread sheet and text editor software should I choose to have full and compatible support for Arabic text and numerals typing. Thx

No version of MS Word for OS X has ever supported Arabic.
Unfortunately Apple's iWork apps also have bugs that make them unsuitable for Arabic for most people.
The best text editor is Mellel, but TextEdit, Nisus Writer, and OpenOffice normally work OK.
As for compatibility with Windows stuff, perfection sometimes just not possible, and if you really need that, you may need to run Windows on your Mac.

  • Problems with pasting arabic text into indesign

    HI,
I am trying to cut and paste arabic text from Word 2007 to indesign ( ENGLISH) CS4
this is the text from word
This is the text when i paste it into indesign
    They look completely different!
    No clue why
I have installed the arabic keyboard onto the computer
I have installed the arabic font from adobe
I have installed the script to switch text from left to right --right to left (I found that script here
    http://indesignsecrets.com/free-script-for-hebrew-or-arabic-text-in-regular-version-of-ind esign.php)
but I am getting the same problem
    any suggestions!!
    thanks

Pre-CS4 I would either change the glyph order and the individual glyphs by hand -- for *extremely* short string only --, or simply print the original file (which is usually Word) to a PDF and place that as an image.
Jongware's method is the best easy way to achieve this (placing the PDF file, I mean - manually hunting for medial glyphs is something I'd only suggest for those who have some demonstrated familiarity with the script in question). If your client insists that you not use a placed PDF for complex-script languages ("The Arabic is a picture, and I can't change the color of the text! Please send me something editable.") and you have no ME tools, you can open up that PDF, save out an EPS file, and in the "Settings" button in Acrobat you can find the "convert all fonts to outlines," save, open up the EPS in AI, copy the handily outlined AR text, and paste that into InDesign. It doesn't work perfectly, but it will do in a pinch.
