Would like to see CPU's working...

I'm using WLS 6.1 SP4 on a three CPU Solaris 5.8 sparc box with java
1.3.1_06. However, regardless of the load I have never seen a cpu load
of more than 33% - (prstat -a).
I can see that the main java process is changing the used cpu
frequently, but the tools I've used (vmstat, mpstat, prstat) did not
show me a parallel usage of cpu's.
Maybe there is a special trick?
I do really have performance problems that are caused by a lot of
garbage collections, so I would like to try -Xincgc, but with only one
cpu working this will not help.
Any help or comment is greatly appreciated.

first make sure NativeIO is enabled ( NativeIOEnabled="true" in
config.xml ).
Then you can check with "prstat -Lp <process id> -s time" which
Threads are most active on which CPU. If you see one thread getting
all/most of the CPU power, then you are likely to be compute-bound.
Lastly try to generate several Thread dumps ( kill -3 <process id> )to
see where the running threads are and which threads are blocked by
which call.
Try to change values for for example ExecuteThreadCount according to
findings.
We are running on a 4-CPU E6800 and get CPU-Usages up to 80% AFAIK
without special tricks ( Most of our CPU power is bound by HTTPS key
negotiation running in 3 parallel PosixSocketMuxers ).
We get a flat 25% CPU usage only in case of Full CG, but this happens
in our case only every 20-40 mins under high load. -XincGC did not
help in our case, since it degraded overall performance much more than
the advertised 10% ( it was more like a 70% degradation )
If GC is really your problem this would mean it is running nearly
constantly, so you do have a) severe memory leaks or b) the -Xmx
parameter is far too low.

Your basically calling/emailing yourself that's why your getting a busy signal.

IDEA!!! Great to see Apple and the Drummer for Logic! What I would like to see???

Now what I would love to see and have talked to many that feel the same way, some of my friends work with Aaron Carter, writers, to Kelly Clarkson, Foo Fighters to composers and many want a JOHN WILLIAMS ASSISTANT, maybe thats what it should be called? Assistant or Arranger? Basically, I have seen many take Band in A Box (NO LAUGHING YET), play a riff on the piano, then it puts together some great ok, fair arragements that you never would of thought to do. They then open Omnisphere, BFD (or some drum thing), Trilogy (for bass), and a SOFTWARE ORCHESTRA and they have insta song. Apple would do the best job and really wished they snagged giga studio? I have great ears, can tell CHINA vs AMERICAN 6L6 coke bottles apart, even easier vs EL34, or broken .10 cent capacitor. Which would cost you that glassy~shimmer sound, like fender has, so this should had been swooped up by Apple as it was the WARMEST SOUNDING SAMPLER EVER INVENTED - probably one of a few that have a working MAC copy - -but they were to slow - by the time they had it, everyone ahd their own, OR they had (TASCAM) problems with security so when you get Kontakt, yeah, it might have great security but your paying for via the ROUND, WARM sound only possible by GIGA and Apple!
Now, I don't want someone with ZERO TALENT to come in, push a button and poof, a song, they tried with MAGIC GARAGE BAND but never really developed it so all they songs sound the same.
I would like to see a bass, orchestral, guitar, (although nothing beats playing) and especially an arranger where you lay down some notes and boom, a song is arranged for you. Apple could do it. Most that have Pro Tools also have LOGIC and most new hardware has THUNDERBOLT, so, if they put their minds to it, they would grab the pro's, prosumers in an instant and anyone on a PC would switch to mac just for the arranging as J. Wiiliams will play a few notes sometimes, and have an arranger write it out take off for a week or so and come back with a few versions.
Apple could do that, have a button to push, save but try again>Man, just having a program that throws maybe plugins and so on into the channel and change with the push of a button would be geniuos. Not to mention, start researching John Lennon, 65, 70, 75, 80 vocal chain, press a button, you have his affects/doubling, et-cetera. Plus Paul, Kurt K., Kelly Clarkson, everything from ROCK to metal to country and teen pop would be dope.
Then have LOGIC self regulate via the spectrum analizer and change thinks around until it was full as a great song with the guitar SOLO'd, should sound like poop, but when the rest of the mix is on, magic!

There have been discussions about quality issues with iMovie 08 because it uses single field processing to create the video images. Basically, this removes half of the lines of resolution from your original footage. This has to create some loss of quality. iMovie HD6, on the other hand, does not do this, keeping both fields intact.
iMovie 08 was really created to appeal to You Tubers and other web video users, where high quality is less of an issue. iMovie HD6 and previous versions were created to appeal to the budding moviemaker who wants a pro style editing platform with great quality, but ease of use, as compared to Final Cut programmes. That's also why iMovie HD6 was designed to work solely with miniDV tape cams, in either SD or HD format. DV Stream is a lossless format that produces superior results to any of the other high compression formats, such as AVCHD.
So, you need to spend more money to get HD DVDs, but your quality will suffer using iMovie 08, which your camcorder forces you to do. Perhaps some consideration of a suitable cam to begin with will be of help.

When using the EQ on the Zen Touch (and other Creative Labs players) it is possible to raise the volume of a given frequency upto +2db, however when one does this, the additional 2db may cause the audio to clip. Normally equalizers have an AGC (automatic gain control) or master volume control that would drop the volume by the same amount that the EQ had raised it by thus preventing clipping. For example, if you raise the volume of the 00hz frequency by +2db to increase the bass, the AGC would drop the preamp volume -2db to prevent clipping in the 00hz frequency. I would like to see Creative add this feature so that a user does not have to drop the gain of their MP3 files by -2db before uploading them inorder to ensure that there will be no clipping when using the EQ.Message Edited by mfowler on 03-08-2005 07:29 AM

Now that Dataviz discontinued MacLink Deluxe, there are no good apps to convert old WriteNow (one of the early Mac word processers) into a modern format. Sure MS office "kind of" works, but I would defenitely buy an app that only converted (similar to MacLink) old WriteNow 3 and 4 documents into either rtf or doc formats that can be used today.
Sorry if this is not the place to post such a thing.
MacLink was good, but had way to many complicated, bloated options. It would be nice just to have a simple app to convert this old format. Maybe alternative apps of this kind could then be purchased to convert more of the file formats that MacLink converted. I think you would sell more of an app that just converted one older file format, however.

And if this is the only way why hasn't Apple made their DVI out socket a dual purpose output ie: Video AND audio, like the mini DVI for the G4 powerbooks? Please help. You need a DVI or VGA to svideo adapter. They aren't cheap.

Because DVI carries only video. Apple is using a new video card in the MBP with different abilities.

I would like to see timer recording added to the next firmware. I have a Radioyourway LX and if my Vision M would do what the LX does, GAME OVER. Please add timer recording to the Vision M. Also bookmarking for the vovies would be nice too. I do not understand why that was left out?

Movies do have a resume feature. It's not as good as bookmarks, but adequate for me. If I exit the movie, it remembers exactly where I left off the next time I go back to it. I doubt we'll see timed recordings, but send some emails to Creative, especially the developer relations section.

Is the form a form that was shared with you or one that you created originally? The History you see is from the point you had access to the form, so if the form was shared with you it would only show history from that point forward.
