Would like to start learning ODI

I have learned Essbase, Planning and Budgeting and HFR.
Now i would like to learn ODI, Please provide some good study material links(PDF's etc.,). Any guidelines on how to get started with ODI is really appreciated.

I have an old Imac G4 from 2003. I haven't used it in years, but I would like to start. What are my options for getting it up to date? Is it even worth the trouble/cost? I was hoping to at least get it running Snow leopard, if not Lion. Options?

I really don't want to invest a ton of money - I might as well get a new one, so if there are any reasonable ways to get it to run Snow Leopard or even Lion, please help. I've also considered using a mac mini? Is that worth it either? I'm not sure which way to go here. I don't want to trash it, I feel like it can be a great computer if updated.

What format is your problem clip? Are there wave forms visible in the section without sound?
Right click on the clip in the event broswer and choose Reveal in Finder; open the clip in Quick Time to confirm that there is sound throughout at that stage of your workflow.

VCA is to make sure that you have a understanding of the general concepts before you go to do a full VCP course.
I have taken the VCA datacenter and it was very much a case of: What product does what?
You wouldnt get a job on merit of having a VCA where as you would with the VCP.

I should keep it simple - if you start getting involved with mixers and multiple microphones you will find the cost escalating alarmingly. If you can get yourself a decent microphone and spend some time doing tests to find the best way of balancing the voices you should be able to get acceptable results. You can't plug an ordinary microphone directly into a Mac - you would need a mixer or a preamplifier - so it's probably worth looking at USB mics. I don't know what cost range is available, and you would have to check that they would work with your Mac. Otherwise you will need an ordinary moving-coil mic and probably a USB audio converter which can accept a microphone - look at the Roland site.

I would like to start anew as the pc, and Adobe teaching tools, have sat idle until today.

I know absolutely nothing about how to use Adobe Software, and I really need to scratch all and start over. Is it possible for me to give a short explanation of what I am seeking to accomplish? Only Adobe services, tech, etc could evaluate what I need to reach my goals.
In mid October I had sought specific learning tools offered by Adobe, or somewhat specific. I was really blown away by the presenting of several online classes, testing, and various teaching venues in order for me to whittle down to where Adobe as well as myself, could be much more affiliated with the programs offered, as opposed to just buying products blindly, that could prove to be worth spending money on.
So what I would like to do is for Adobe to help lead me to creative tools you offer.
My goal: To be able to create a customer friendly presentation that would be interactive on some levels, such as graphics integrated with photos, DVDs with products I am looking to sell that is a few steps above the hit & miss methods on, say, Windows Live Movie Maker (which I did create a DVD with a slide show with descriptions, photos of products and with music with a legth of 47 min.). So I'm not denegrationg Movie Maker by any means. I just feel I need software that would be solid with convenient usefulness.
A little insight: I have been an avid collector of music memorabilia, rare products I sought for near 40 years. I owned two Record Stores in the 80s through to 2000 when I was forced to close my doors due to health problems that were too much for the capacity to manage, and be hands on. I have some products that I would like to offer to other collectors, rather than casually consigning an item to some auction site with limitations on the presentation and customer base. In the mail order department of my stores, I accumulated mailing lists of near 5k music collectors. I have those former customers and I have ideas of what I need in order to market my product in a way that wows (for lack of a better word) potential buyers.
I have done my own research and Adobe's reputation of excellent service and incomparable software capacity, is above all others with for the most part fair in pricing.

Slowing down iMac, would like to start clean

We have a core2 duo iMac, about 2-3 years old. Lately it has been moving slow as molasses. I think a good reformat and reinstall may do the trick. My question is: what's the best way to back everything up and move it to the new system, ie pictures, music etc. So I move it all to an external drive and what procedure works best? Also, I have a time capsule I've been using for Time Machine backups. Can I rely on this to restore my system?

I'm with Pondini, most times with OS X there is no need to start over fresh like windows. Many times the OS X just needs a little maintenance or your demand has out grown your memory. +(not your memory, the iMac's)+
I'm also glad to hear that you have a good back up, because that allows you to safely use a third party maintenance application like Onyx without worry. I don't run Onyx regularly and some folks prefer other maintenance app's, but I can honestly say that Onyx has served me well over the years in Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard. Just be sure to download the correct version for the OS version that your are running.

I would also recommend creating a Bootable Clone on a second External HD if possible, with CarbonCloner or SuperDuper before running any maintenance or _clean install_ just to be double safe.

Another thing to consider is the amount of RAM (memory) that is installed in your iMac? If your system is maxed out then you may be forced to conserve resources by running less programs, widgets, etc. all at the same time. If not then it might be a good time to give your iMac an upgrade to keep up with your usage demand. The easiest way to check RAM usage is with your Activity Monitor.

Start by:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Restart the computer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Next:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
This will create a bootable clone on the external drive. Boot from the external clone by restarting the computer. After the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears. Select the icon for the external drive then click on the large arrow button on the right. Your computer should now boot from the external drive.
Erase your hard drive
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Restore Your Clone
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
