I still have my first computer it's a IMAC that I bought about 7 years ago
128Mb Pwer G3
Now I upgraded him a week ago from classic OS 9 to Os X (10.04)
I would like to know what software I need to install to upgrade him further so will be able to use I tunes for my Ipod.( quicktime 7) or even up to the latest version.

In addition to Gulliver's great advice,
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
Panther, is no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Tiger 10.4.x is the most up to date OS.
A Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can be purchased rather inexpensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, AppleRescue, FastMac, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Panther is only on CDs, not DVDs.

Once Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final version.
If your Mac meets the System Requirements for Tiger, you could also consider installing that.
And then use the PPC 10.4.8 Combo Update.

I installed lion and safari will not upgrade to 5.1 so that I can use full screen mode
I do not understand why after installing lion the only program that will work in full screen is chrome?
I experienced the same issue, the best way to solve it is to:
click menu item Safari --> reset Safari
That will do the trick! -
I ahve a late 2008 Mac Book Pro and would like to upgrade the memory to 8g. I can only find 2 options Crucial and Ramjet. There is a $40 difference in the cost. Does anyone know if one is better than the other?

HubertPPC (PowerPC) is the processor architecture of all G3, G4 and G5 Power Mac computers.
PPC Macs cannot run any OS greater than Leopard, 10.5.8 because after that, Apple quit developing for PPC processors and limited support for the Intel processor line only.
As for upgrade to Leopard, Yes, if your machine meets the minimum requirements of 867 MHz or faster processor, 512 MB or greater of RAM and has a DVD reader it can have Leopard installed.
To install Leopard, one must first purchase a RETAIL (black with X on it) disc.
After install of 10.5, 10.5.1,10.5.4 or 10.5.6 retail version, free updates to 10.5.8 are available from Apple.

If your machine is slower than 867 MHz, Google "Unsupported Leopard Installation".

Since your Mac probably came with 10.4, there is no longer a way to get 10.5 Leopard install media. IF it has the requirements, you may be able to upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard by buying the boxed install media at the Apple Store for $30.

They claim that an Interl iMac with Core 2 Duo is all that is needed, as long as it has OS 10.6.8 installed. They say you don`t need the "Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor"
But I wonder about the RAM speed, the iMac 2.33Ghz uses DDR2 SDRAM, which I believe is rated at 667Mhz. Lion maybe installed but it might be problems running smoothly or not?
Did some quick checking and the iMacs apple is selling this year use 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM.
The only thing to do is to make sure you have a good back-up, Install your RAM and install Snow Leo, then wait a couple of hours and install Lion.

First you need to research all the problems people are having with the higher OSX versions, & make sure you have a bootable clone of what you have just in case.
then you must get 10.6, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.
