Would like to use Quicktime to open Realplayer .rm files.

I was curious if anybody knew of a Plug-in that would allow Realplayer .rm files to be played on Quicktime. I'd rather not use Realplayer if don't have to. Another option would be if anybody knows of a converter similar to Flip-4-Mac that would allow me to play them.
Thanks!

RealPlayer for the Mac OS X is available here:

As I said - look whether your original file is damaged or not. If not, I wouldn't change it and find out what in your system makes it sound like it's clipping.
Good sound file, with volume maxed out. No need to change anything.
The same song clipped - no chance to repair.

I installed the latest version of Firefox. The home page is now a google search box. I would like to use my old sbcyahoo desktop with its icons. I am unable to make the change.

Oops. I could have been more clear, sorry.
TOOLS > OPTIONS > GENERAL tab
Under Start-up at the top of GENERAL, you have an option to type in the url or use the tabs to set your homepage to the current page.
Go to your chosen site, open OPTIONS and click 'Use current page.'
Sorry for the shorthand version previously. I blame the cat.

It would help to post this in a more proper form. This is for the iTunes family of stores.

I would like to use the windows explorer open dialog box instead of the adobe open dialog box. How can I change that?

The top screenshot is the Windows Open dialog box. All File > Open... commands in all Windows programs bring it up.   Try File > Open in Notepad for example.
It belongs to Windows not Adobe. You cannot change this because there is no such thing as an Adobe Open dialog box.
The bottom screenshot is Windows Explorer. It is Windows' OS File Browser, not an Open dialog.  It is not called up by Photoshop or any Windows program.
You have to click on "My Computer" or a Folder icon to get to it. You can double-click a psd, jpeg or other image file in the Explorer window so that it opens in Photoshop.
There is Adobe Bridge and Minibridge   Alt + Ctrl + O or File > Browse in Bridge

BNN, even though I understand what KT is saying, your thought resonates with mine. When it comes to building and maintaining my website, I see myself more as a photographer than as a web designer. Hence, even though Apple may not be actively developing (and we are guessing on this one, arent we) iWeb, the existing functionality should do plenty of good to me for next couple years at least.
That said, they released a point update a few days back and with the whole cloud thing building momentum and mobile me going for free, why would Apple want to pull the plug on such a fantastic product?

  • I would like to use DDE to send data from a Lookout Server to an Excel

    Hello National Instruments,
I would like to use DDE to send data from a Lookout Server to an Excel
    Spreadsheet.
I have Lookout 6.1 on a server connected to 4 client workstations
    The operating system on the server is Windows Server 2003 R2; Standard Edition;
    Service Pack 2
I have opened DDE Share but after filing in Share Name; Static Application
    Name; Static Topic Name
I get a message, "Can't bind to DSDM service"
I also get this message when I press add a Share
What are the steps to setting up this type of communications link?
    Thanks,
    David Lopez

    Ryan,
I have followed the steps on the Knowledge Base "How do I use DDE To Send Data Across the Network To Excel From Lookout?" but what I am seeing is that the computer with excel (Computer B)hangs up displaying an hour glass continuously leaving me no option but to go into task manager to stop excel.  It appears to me that the dde share is not working properly on my windows xp where lookout resides or I do not have a certain service turned on.  I do have the DDE services turned on both computers.  I have my computer set up as computer A with Lookout and Process1 as the process with a pot set up as pot1.  On my computer (Computer A) I also have the dde share set up per the KB example.
On computer B I have the dde services turned on and I am typing the following into an excel worksheet Cell  ='\\TAG23232\NDDE$'|'Process1$'!Pot1
TAG 23232 is Computer A's Name
    Do you have any suggestions???

I'm using 10.6.8 but would like to use iCloud so need to upgrade to 10.7.4 but need to install 10.7 before I can upgrade to 10.7.4.  Where can I find 10.7.0?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The latest OS X version is OS X 10.8.3, so first check that you can use OS X Mountain Lion. First, check that your Mac supports Mountain Lion > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs If it's compatible, open the App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. While it's being downloaded, make a backup of your files and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com
When the download finishes, the OS X installer will appear, so follow the steps. After upgrading, you will have 10.8.3.
If your Mac isn't compatible with Mountain Lion, check that you can run Lion > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4949 If you can run OS X Lion, call Apple to purchase it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 After upgrading to Lion, you will have 10.7.5.
To set up iCloud after upgrading, open System Preferences > iCloud. Read > http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup

  • I would like to use Automator

I would like to use Automator or something else to automatically copy and save photos from a website on my HD.
There's a site with a great number of photos (museum showing photos, paintings, all in JPEG) and I would like to create a program that will copy/save a photo, then go to the next one, and the next one, and so on. And if possible to the next page after that. So I don't have to spend hours and hours doing this.
After it is downloaded I will look what I want to keep and what I want to delete.
They say Apple Script is simple and Automator even simpler...well, maybe I was tired when I read about these two programs in the Mac OS X Bible (Tiger edition) but it doesn't seem that simple.
Anyone did this by any chance ?(copying photos from the Web ?)

If you're using Word 2011 and have the freeware CUPS-PDF virtual printer* installed . . .
    Workflow:
    1. Get Specified Finder Items (or equivalent action)
    2. Open Word Documents (under the Library/Documents actions that Office 2011 installs)
    3. Apply Font Format Settings to Word Documents (ditto)
    4. Print Word Documents (ditto)
In step 4, you'll want to direct the documents to "print" with the CUPS-PDF printer.
You needn't be concerned with deleting "personal information" stored in Properties. That information isn't retained in the PDF anyway.
Tested with 10.6.8 and Word 2011.
    * Get the CUPS-PDF virtual printer from https://bitbucket.org/codepoet/cups-pdf-for-mac-os-x/wiki/Home. Here's a slightly dated description of what CUPS-PDF does and ways to tweak it: http://www.macworld.com/article/1139518/cupspdf.html.

  • Would like to use song from Itunes as background music for blog, How do I?

Would like to use a song I have in my Itunes library as background music in my blog. Does anyone know how? New to computing and not great on the lingo just yet. Thanks

I'll give you my recipe to attain your goal. Then, please, tell me if it worked.
First of all, you need some MB of disc space on the web, and almost all of the e-mail providers (such hotmail.com, msn.com aol.com andso.on) can give you this chance.
Second step, you have to download, install on your computer and set with your web space information, an ftp browser such as SoftX FTP Client ( http://www.softx.org/ftp-download.html ) or Terrapin FTP Browser ( http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/downloads/index.cfm?categoryID=1470&itemID=6574 ).
Third step, you have to reduce the mp3 bitrate of your song whether it's more than 128 kbps, to make sure it won't be too heavy to load when someone visit your blog. To do this, you must open the Preference panel of iTunes (in Windows version of it usually in tools menu), click on advanced, click on import and then choose import using mp3 encoding and set the bitrate to 128 kbps (less is better) and confirm. Now select your song, right click on it and click on convert selection to mp3. When the operation will end, you'll have two files of the same song. Right click on the new one and click on "show file". An Explorer window will open with the right file already selected. Just drag and drop it on the FTP browser (is better if you correct the name of the song and put out spaces between the words before the uploading - i.e.: "Storm in a tea cup.mp3" will become storminateacup.mp3 or storm.mp3, far better) and it will be uploaded to your web space. Obviously, if your file is already at a low bitrate (lower than 128), you must jump the "Preference panel setting" step and the "convert to mp3" step.
    Final step: your blog
this is the standard html syntax, accepted by almost all of the blog providers:
    '<embed src="http://YOURWEBADDRESS/NAMEOFTHESONG.mp3" autostart=false loop=false volume='85' width=425 height=40>'
Be careful: you have to write correctly your web address and the name of the song, because the html language is case sensitive.
put autostart=true if you'd like to hear the song as you open the blog and loop=true if you like to hear your song again and again. You can also set the volume as you like (0-100 is the range) and put to 0 both width and height if you like to make the song bar invisible.
You can put the code either in a post or in the blog page, as it will be the soundtrack for the blog or just for a single post.
    Enjoy it

The iPhone is not user servicable. You can get an out of warranty replacement from Apple for $149. If you open the phone yourself, you forfeit the ability to do this.

How do you export the contains to Excel ? Do you have control on it ? If you can modify your program which made the export to local disk drive (\\TSClient\C\etc) then you can use another program like Remote Executer
to send a command to client side to open that Excel file on the local machine. Take a look at

I suspect that it is possible to get the datasocket server to update quite
a bit faster, but I'm not familiar enough to be able to help with that.
If you do not get the server to work for you, you may want to use the
VI Server. It takes a bit more work, but I know that it can have much
higher rates. This will involve turning on the VI Server allowing
the writer to connect with the reader and publishing a VI that takes
in and logs the new value. Then from the client, you need to open a
reference to the VI on the server machine. Call it as often as you
like passing in the new value.
Like I said, this is a bit more work, but there are some benefits
    to it. The m
ain benefit is that the transfers are under your
    control.
