Would like watch folders to include sub folders

My photos are all organized into many levels of subfolders starting with one root folder. I'd like LR to recognize any new photos in the root folder AND ALL SUB FOLDERS, and import them. Presently the watch folder is restricted to only the top level contents of a folder. This would be a big time-saver for me.

It is also limited to an empty folder that puts an imported image into another designated folder. Mostly used for tethered shooting.
There is already a largish thread for more general watched folders.
Allow any folder to be a watched folder.. You might want to jump in there.

Open a Finder window and you should have a folder called iClouDrive in your home folder. Drag your documents or folders you want to share into this folder and it will be available on your other computer (look in the same folder).
As already mentioned Dropbox is a good solution; however, I like to use my free 5 GB from Apple's iCloud because I am not using very much space there. I reserve my Dropbox for other uses such as family photo and recipe sharing.

In adobe bridge cs6 i would like to pre build the thumb nails on an entire drive inc sub folders

in adobe bridge i would like to build all the thumbnails for the drive so when i go to a sub folder all the iamges are ready to go. i have tried select all and then build hq thumbnail but it only did the images in the root folder i was in. not the sub folders. what am i doing wrong?

Maybe I did not understand the OP correctly but using build and export cache usually creates less free space (certainly) and more problems (very likely…) hence I never advice this route. On a Mac this means double cacheing, first in Central Cache (same as our answer before) and also extra cache in folders.

The suggestion above is for MailBoxes on the Mac in the mail app and have nothing at all to do with the iPad. I think that you are asking about the iPad mail app.
You need to have an IMAP email account in order to create additional mailboxes on the iPad.
If you go to your email account in the Mail app and look at the window where your inbox, trash folder and sent folder are - if there is an Edit button at the top of the window - tap that and then tap Add Mailbox at the bottom.
If the Edit button is not there - you cannot create folders on the iPad. Your email account is not IMAP. Only IMAP email accounts can create folders on the iPad. Any folders that you would already have in an IMAP account would sync to the device as well.

I would like to see more Recent Folders in the "Page Bookmarked" Dialogue

When you choose to Bookmark a page, you see a small dialogue, in which, when you click on "Folder", you are presented with an option to choose a Folder OR SELECT FROM A LIST OF PREVIOUS FOLDERS in which you bookmarked pages.
Unfortunately, the list of previous folders is very short. It has only 5 entries. I would like to increase this to 10 or even 15.
Does anybody know if this is even possible?

Unless I'm missing something really simple here, there doesn't seem to be any easy way of selecting and moving multiple folders at once.
Here's a little example of a simple task I want to do. I presently have a multitude of folders each seperated by the day the photo was taken on. So in my case for a given year I might have maybe 50 folders or so. It's getting a little cluttered, so all I want to be able to do is to take all the folders for one given year and place them in a folder with that year's date. This should be a simple 30 second task, simply select the folders I want moved by either <CTRL> or <SHIFT> clicking them, and then dragging and dropping them into the new folder.
Right now, the only way I've figured how to do this this is to drag and drop each folder one by one, never mind that this is a slow process in itself, but to add to the slowness, whenever I try to drag and drop more than one folder consecutively, I get a message saying ... "Can not move a folder while another move operation is in progress...blah blah". Not that I want this to be the fix, but haven't they heard of queuing?
I've seen people on the net suggest that for this type of task, you should simply move the folders in Windows first and then locate them in Lightroom. Again, unless I'm missing something very simple here, there doesn't seem to be a way to locate multiple missing folders at once. If I have to manually locate each missing folder one by one, then I'd rather just do the drag and drop thing as this would actually be faster.
I've also tried moving the folders from within Windows first and then using the "Synchronize folder" option, yeah sure this works, but I lose any changes that I've done in Develop module. Not what I'm looking for.

Daniel is right. It´s really strange that I can´t move several folders in one move! When I need more space on my laptop I move a group of folders (one folder for every photosession) to an archive. Therefore I really would like to move them in one click, not "baby-sitting" the move of each folder.

I second the whole iTunes folder approach.
If for some reason you have split the media folder from the library files then the media folder needs to restored to the same path it used to have while the library files can be copied into the music folder of your new profile.
If in dobut, backup up the entire Documents and Settings folder before wiping the infected drive, but be selective about what you restore as many viruses drop active components capable of reinfecting the compuer in the temp folders and internet caches. It is much easier to backup more than you need than to discover after the fact that you no longer have access to some vital project you'd been storing in a folder on the desktop.

You can restore your iPad with your iPhone backup but items that are iPhone only will not transfer. It should recreate all your folders. It can't hurt anything to try.

I would like to have my "On My Mac" folders in iMail also in iCloud so I can read them in all my IOS devices.

When I look at my Mail in my iPhone or iPad, I can only see the folders in the "Mailboxes". I would like to see all of them!

Would like to keep folders on one desktop separate from other Desktops?

I saw that the new lion os had the ability to add new desktops. So I installed it and when I put a folder on one desktop it shows up on all desktops. This is not a new desktop function. Its just spaces all over agian. Am I missing something here. I would like to create multiple desktops with seperate files on each desktop so I can have one for personal use, one for work, one for projects, etc.
Please can someone tell If what I am asking for is even possible ?

Not possible. Folders on the desktop will appear on all desktops.

On rare occasions one or more of my bookmarks or folders (usually important ones) spontaneously disappear and I would like to know why.

Just today another one, my very valuable and frequently used business folder, was not there in my bookmarks when I turned on the computer. I had to reconstruct the whole folder as best as I could remember. As far as I could tell nothing else was removed. I would like to know if this has ever happened before to other Firefox users? I have a working antivirus program on my computer and have had no problems along those lines. So..........what is causing this? I use Firefox exclusively, no other browsers.

If that are bookmarks that were created the previous day then that can happen if Firefox sees a problem with the places.sqlite database file on the next start and rebuilds the database from a JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups that didn't have them yet.
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

I would like to share some folders between accounts on the same iMac ( Lion OS X).

You can set the permissions to allow anyone to modify each file.
Select the file, press cmd-i on the keyboard, scroll down to the bottom of the dialogue and click the padlock.
Enter your admin password, then change all the permissions to allow read and write.
You could also do the same thing with the Shared folder itself which should allow everyone to modify any file placed in the folder. Select the shared folder, and repeat the procedure above. Then, next to the padlock you should see a 'cog' icon with a drop down menu. Click the menu and choose 'apply to enclosed items' and 'OK' when the warning dialogue ('Are you sure? You cannot undo this action') comes up.

Can Watch Folders Watch Subfolders?

I see no setting for including sub-folders in watch folders. Is it possible?

I, too, am looking for a way to do this. I don't know anyone that just dumps all of their footage from a project into one folder (unless it's just a 1 day shoot or something). All of my footage is placed into subfolders based on Camera and Reel. Would be really great if AME could start encoding, and also keep the same folder structure in my output folder. Otherwise the watch folder, for me, is kind of useless.
Anyone have a solution?

ReaderExtensions / Watched Folders / enableComments newbie question

I am currently using the Live Cycles ES Preview, while I wait for the full version to finish going through your licensing process. Here is my over-all goal:
I would like to set up a watched folder that takes PDFs dropped into the input folder, enables comments, and saves the new files to the output folder.
Ive figured out how your folder watching works (very cool!) but not how to get a service to turn on the comments.
I see that the ReaderExtensions service has an enableComments usage right associated with it. But I cant set up a watched folder end point in it via adminui.
Do I have to workbench something? Wheres a good starting point for figuring out how to do that?

Ive got my process all set up with a Watched Folder end point and everything is working great!
I have one more requirement regarding folder structure that I have to implement and I was wondering if you had suggestions on how to go about it.
Right now, if my input folder is C:\WatchedFolder\Input, I can put a pdf file (lets call it example.pdf) in the input directory and it will spit it out to C:\WatchedFolder\Result\example.pdf.
What I need to be able to support are ¬recursive folder structures. So lets say I have a folder named Project1 with a subfolder SubProject2. Both folders have PDFs in them. What I need to be able to do is drop the Project1 folder in the watched folder, and then have the folder structure dynamically preserved in the result folder. So the input would look like C:\WatchedFolder\Input\Project1\SubProject2, the output would look like C:\WatchedFolder\Result\Project1\SubProject2, with an arbitrary amount of folder depth. So I could drop folder folderx\foldery\folderz and all of them could have PDF files in them to be processed, and the output would have to have to same structure.
Can this be administered via the watched folder endpoint config? Or should I somehow tweak the workshop process?
