Would setting router to ADSL or ADSL2 help instabi...

Hi, I get random resyncs with ADSL2+ no matter what noise margin is put on my line, I dont want to be put onto a banded profile again so I want to try and get the disconnections stopped, Previously when I was on LLU I didnt have problems and the line test is completely silent.
If I set my netgear router to connect on ADSL or ADSL2 only instead of ADSL2+ could it help, and which one gives the best stability, ADSL or ADSL2.
Thanks

The reason why a LLu connection was less trouble is because most if not all LLu providers don;t set the MSR
like BT do .... the maximum stable rate. Nor do they use Bras IP profiling. They use a much less profound version of dynamic line management than BT, and thus lines can rack errors up without undue loading of impulse noise protection, resulting in deep banded profiling .... until impulse is either fixed .... or goes away.
You can try negotiating a bare Adsl2 connection if your router firmware allows it ... although to be honest, the lead will be taken by your associated msan connection.
You'd have to try and see if it worked for you .... but if you're on an average line up to about 45db loop loss
any poor bitloading should be catered for with 21CN's algo ... trouble is it takes a while to get established sometimes, and the way to help it along is cure whatever you can in the home, using quality cables and filtered faceplates, with good segregation for data and power.
Get rid of phone extensions if unused, plug into a master socket etc ....
Try and see if the msan lets your router negotiate the connection ... nowt to lose.
As a rule the higher the frequencies employed ... the more difficult it is to modulate, G.dMT, Adsl2 and Adsl2+
in that order ....

  • Correct route for ADSL connection

    Hi
I found a couple of threads on this topic but none of them seemed to be plain enough for a newbie to understand. I use an ADSL connection for my home box. The connection uses pppoe for authentication. When I start the computer, I have to run the following commands on every run to get access to internet:

What should I do to get the thing done without any manual intervention?

Please refer to this wiki for the detailed and correct steps to set it up:
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PPP … _with_pppd
And remember to set eth0 up in rc.conf as follow:
    eth0="eth0 0.0.0.0 up"
I don't know why you have to set route up manually. I thought that the pppd daemon will do it for you.
And... just use /etc/rc.d/pppd not /etc/rc.d/adsl.
    Hope this helps.

Continually get a message saying "We are experiencing technical difficulties, please try later" when trying to set up allowances. Not very helpful. Any ideas. I am running the latest itunes with Windows 7 Professional.

Not a solution yet, but received the following from one of the tech people I've been e-mailing back & forth with.
"I'm sorry that you have been unable to submit your podcast. The podcast submission form is currently offline. When trying to submit the podcast you will receive this message "We are Currently Experienced Technical Difficulties". Once the issue has been resolved, I would be glad to inform you.
Apple is currently working toward a resolution for the issue you have reported. You will receive an email after the matter has been investigated and further information is available."
Who knows, maybe the problem isn't with my feed after all.

They really pushed that it would all work great! Has anyone had the same struggle? Are there any step-by-step instructions to get linked up?
Call Verizon's wireless tech support & explain your problem to them.  They will provide "step-by-step" instructions over the phone.
    Take notes too!
TIP:  If you do call & don't want to go through all those darn promps, when you initially call, just don't say anything.  The automatic voice will then say,  "will connect you to a service rep."

  • Setting PPPoE for ADSL, AccessReject?

I've been trying to set up a ADSL connection using rp-pppoe. I've done what an article tells me:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=713267
    which means:
    1. install rp-pppoe
    2. run sudo pppoe-setup
    3. finish the setup
    4. run sudo pppoe-start
but it won't connect. tried the pppd version:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PP … _with_pppd
    still does not work although
    $ sudo pon
    Plugin rp-pppoe.so loaded.
    RP-PPPoE plugin 3.8p compiled against pppd 2.4.5
I don't know what else to do, so I tried running pppoe-connect (I don't know why I run this thing, but I don't know what else to do, just trial and error). it says
    $ sudo pppoe-connect
    Using interface ppp0
    Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/1
    Remote message: AccessReject Deny Access
    PAP authentication failed
    Connection terminated.
Checked the stuff in /etc/ppp/, pppoe.conf, chap-secrets, pap-secrets seems ok, do it just as the tutorial. /etc/ppp/peers/provider also done just as the tutorial.
So where I get this wrong, or my ISP (university) rejects Linux connection?
Doing fine with Windows. No luck yet with Archlinux and Crunchbang (although in Crunchbang it uses the Gnome network manager, but the result is the same).
*And because the receptionist in the computer room is a student as well, asking them Linux just won't work. They even never seen one.

    Hello Mohamed,
there is a feature called controlled subscriber bandwidth that may fit your needs:
    see
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/bbdsl/configuration/guide/bba_con_sub_bdwth_ps6441_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html
it manipulates the ATM traffic parameters on a per user basis
these settings can be done on radius AV:
    example:
The following example shows how to configure RADIUS attributes for a user profile for DBS:
    [email protected] Password = "userpassword1", Service-Type = Outbound
         Service-Type = Outbound,
         Cisco-Avpair = "vpdn:tunnel-id=tunnel33",
         Cisco-Avpair = "vpdn:tunnel-type=l2tp",
         Cisco-Avpair = "vpdn:l2tp-tunnel-password=password2",
         Cisco-Avpair = "vpdn:ip-addresses=172.16.0.0",
         Cisco-Avpair = "atm:peak-cell-rate=155000",
         Cisco-Avpair = "atm:sustainable-cell-rate=155000"
    Hope to help

  • HT4759 Hi Unfortunately I bought a 4s Apple to return the phone to factory settings and now I have the wrong password only I would input password. Please can you help me. thanks

    Hi
Unfortunately I bought a 4s Apple to return the phone to factory settings and now I have the wrong password only I would input password.
    Please can you help me.
    Grateful

If you don't know the passcode but have synced with iTunes before while the passcode was set on it, you can back it up then restore it in iTunes on the last computer it was synced with.
If you haven't synced it while the passcode was set on it, or if you don't have access to the last computer it was synced with, you'll have to force it into recovery mode and restore it as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.  Then restore to an existing backup if you have one; if not, you'll have to restore it as a new iPhone and start over.

  • Does WRVS4400N Router require ADSL Modem to connect to Internet

    1. Does WRVS4400N Router require ADSL Modem to connect to Internet or only a cable to connect? If ADSL modem is required, what are the recommended DSL modems that work great with this router
    2. How can WRVS4400N Linksys and Trend Micro bring Advanced Internet Security Capabilities to Small Businesses
    3.  How can I benefit if it is applicable for WRVS4400N

    Hi fox_mulder ,
I would like to thank you for your answer.
Your answer for the first question was very clear that I do not need to buy ADSL modem.
For Second question, it is also clear answer. However, third answer does not answer my question which is " how can I utilize TrendMicro to prevent Spam mail through WRVS4400N Router.

  • Here's a weird and wonderful problem that would mean so much if somebody could help!

    Ipod: 5th Generation Video (Classic)
The Problem: Essentially what I am trying to do is recover photos off my Mum's old Ipod. She imported these photos onto the Ipod directly from her camera at the time (2006) so they were never saved on any computer. There are about 500 photos of a family holiday. It means so much to me to get these off now because my Dad passed away earlier this year and I want to surprise my Mum with these photos which we haven't properly been able to see for about 8 years now.
The Ipod does turn on, I am able to see the photos, but here's the issue: when I connect the Ipod to my computer, whether in normal mode or disk mode, Itunes freezes, the internet cuts out, and (if in disk mode) when the Ipod shows in 'My Computer' as a removable disk in F: drive, I cannot gain access into it - the window just freezes. Essentially, the whole computer jams up, but is instantly fine again as soon as I disconnect. I am therefore unable to remove these photos off the Ipod.
This is pretty much my last resort. I cannot even tell you how grateful me, my brother and mum would be if anyone was able to help me fix this problem.
I will try and answer any questions fully and speedily
    Many thanks in advance

    Thanks for the reply Curt,
I have tried both suggestions and it does appear to be part my computer and part the Ipod's problem. I tried switching and plugging into another computer (Macbook Pro) and although the internet did not cut out, Itunes still froze/refused to start up and although the Ipod was found in the USB tree, it wasn't showing up in Finder. This appears to be the common theme - the computers are finding the Ipod, but not being able to fully connect with it

If you can view the main home screen, try selecting "settings" on the far right, then choose recent at the bottom. If not, try just unplugging power for a few minutes, then plug in and try again. Keep in mind you'll need a wireless connection and there may be several updates. Hope this helps-

Tried to use iphone connecting to wifi but failed dispite password correct, cable connection ok, and even reset network setting in iphone. Anyone can help?

I get in now with the following procedures taken:
    1. Reset network as suggested in Apple app.
    2. In the wifi connection, instead click in the user name as shown in the screen, I click Others and re-type the user name as appeared before. In the security, instead of none, I click WEP. It will then prompt you to put in password. I then put in password as I know for that user name again.
    Then, it joined the wifi..
Hope this can help someone who get this problem.
