Would Shared Mailbox be the best fit?

I want to create some mailboxes I can use where I will forward all the mail to an individual to monitor the inbox, I like the idea of shared mailbox from a security standpoint because the email address will be used to login to a website outside out domain
but I wanted the flexibility to easily manage the mail-flow.   No one will be logging into these accounts on the domain and they will not store any mail so security could be very manageable.  I won't need to give multiple users permissions on these
boxes so long as the boxes can still forward incoming email which will end up going to a real person's inbox.  I need to create  6 inboxes / accounts but I don't want them to be able to logon to the domain.  Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi,
According to the description, I found that we want to create a shared mailbox to manage emails in our org.
However I have some confusion on this sentence, "I need to create 6 inboxes / accounts but I don't want them to be able to logon to the domain."
My understand as below:
The 6 inboxes/accounts are created for managers, we don't want these 6 managers have administrative permission as domain Administrator. Or we want to deny log on locally?
Please correct me if there is any misunderstanding.
If it is the case, we just need to create the shared mailbox and grant a proper permission to the 6 managers. Then create a Transport Rule to perform the forwarding operation.
If we want to deny log on locally, please follow articles below to perform this operation:
Deny log on locally

I'm possibly wrong here but I suspect opening a brand new MBP to add parts yourself will void the warranty.  It is probably in the small print.  I certainly would not risk it for an expensive Apple product.
Some (Windows) laptops have easy access to memory and disk slots that do not necessitate taking the complete back cover off.  However, Apple does not make life easy for you.
However, if you are going for a 'used' machine it is probably worth a try.
Not possibly, definitely wrong, Ram and Hard Drive are considered user replaceable and will not void the warranty if changed.

    smgchandler,
Any camcorder that can connect via USB or that can save to an SD card can interface with an iPad if you have the iPad Camera Connection Kit so that you can watch your videos on the new iPad's beautiful retina display.  You can find this on the Apple website or in most big box retail stores.

  • We have 4000 transports...would like to know the best methods of transports

We have 4000 transports...would like to know the best methods of transports.I understand mass transports and consolidation of transports through transport organiser can be of help ..However would like to understand more on the following points
1)In both the cases, how dependencies between transports will be managed.
    2)How Sequencing will be managed?
3)Which is recommended and under what circumstances?
    4)Pros and cons of each?
    Thanks
    Shamna

Have those transports already be transported (e.g. from Dev to Test?) - if so the transports from Test to Prod must be in the exact same sequence you transported them into Test because only then the coding status will be exactly the same.
If there was no transport yet then you usually transport in the sequence of the transport numbers - however if they have not yet been transported you don't know, if there are dependencies between different transports unless you kept a kind of log.
In that case the savest way to transport everything is to combine all objects of all transports into one transport and then let that one run into Test and Prod. That way you would not have to worry about sequence problems where a newer version is overwritten by an older version.
However the big transport only works if all the objects in those 4000 transports are not locked in any open request. You can create that transport by using SE03 and choosing 'Merge Object Lists' - just paste all the transports into the selection field and execute. You don't have to do all 4000 at once but do it in packages.
    Hope that helps,
    Michael

  • I will be buying the new IMac 27 inch in December. Would like input on the best configuration for photographic and possibly video processing-dream machine!

I will be buying an IMac 27 inch in December. What is the best configuration for photo and possibly video processing.Does one need a Mac Pro? Dream machine!

Just to explain what I just wrote to Laundry Bleach:
Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac?
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3673
    UPDATE & ADDENDUM:
But even though you can still buy iLife 11 that includes iDVD 7 from Amazon, Apple now make it difficult to install:
Poster jhb21939 posted this in another thread:
“when I attempted to load iDVD into a new iMac. A notice came up on the screen stating that the 'Authorisation Licence' had expired on 25 March this year (2012).
I contacted the Apple support team and eventually, I was told that the Licence had been withdrawn and could no longer be used.”
In other words Apple are now so adamant that we don’t use iDVD that they have tried to make it impossible to install.
In response, Old Toad posted this solution:
“You can still use it one all of your Macs.  If you get an invalid certificate message just set your Mac's clock to sometime before early 2011 and run the installer.  After you're done reset the time back to the correct time.” He added this comment:
“It began after iDVD and iWeb were discontued and they were dropped from the Apple Store. All I can think of is the certificate was set to expire after a certain time period after the intitial iLife disc was released.
I've been able to use the installer even without setting back the date.  I just clicked on the Continue button and it would work as expected.  For some it would not continue unless the date was set back.”
The latest anorexic iMacs just announced do not even include a CD drive! Proof positive that Apple virtually prohibit the use of DVDs - although the newly announced Mac Minis do include a Superdrive.
Yet, they still include iMovie! Heaven alone knows or understands what you are supposed to do with your newly edited masterpiece - except make a low quality version for YouTube?

  • Sent items from a shared mailbox are not saved with the shared mailbox

I'm experiencing an issue regarding the sent items from a shared mailbox.
The users would like the items Sent on Behalf of a shared mailbox to be saved within this shared mailbox.
At this moment, the Sent Items are saved in the users own mailbox.
We have a single Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 (Version 14.3 Build 123.4) and Users connecting the Exchange Server are using Microsoft Outlook 2007 (12.0.6680.5000) SP3 MSO.
The user is granted full access permissions on the shared mailbox, and also has "Send on Behalf" permissions on the mailbox. The mailbox is setup as an "online" mailbox, so it doesn't use cached mode.
I tried the following solutions mentioned in the various KB's and technet articles:
Configuring the "DelegateSentItemsStyle" registry setting for this user (using a GPO)
Configured the "Get-MailboxSentItemsConfiguration" cmdlet for this user
Logged on to OWA and changed the "Sent Items" settings to save the sent items in both mailboxes
None of these settings worked, not combined and neither seperately.
Is there anyone who can help me resolving this issues?
    Thanks in advance,
    Roy Schottmans

I am using a shared mailbox (with a disabled account) where I get sent items and also deleted items placed in the right folders.
I think it’s just a matter of how you configure Outlook. It works well for me in both Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013, cached mode and also online mode. You can add a shared mailbox to your Outlook profile in at least two ways where one of them doesn’t work
    but the other does.
If you add the shared mailbox via the File tab/Account settings/New/ and just enter the e-mail address of the shared mailbox in the Auto Account Setup page. No name, no password, just the e-mail address and click Next and voila “Your e-mail account is successfully
configured”. After restarting Outlook you will find the shared mailbox below your own in the left pane.
If you click the inbox ones in the shared mailbox and then open a new mail you will see the shared mailbox display name in the From field. After sending the mail you will see the mail in the Sent Items folder of the shared mailbox. If you delete a mail in
the shared mailbox you will see it in Deleted items folder of the shared mailbox.
The prerequisits for this is that you have “full access” and “send as” rights of the shared mailbox.
This was accomplished without using the Set-MailboxSentItemsConfiguration command.
    We are running Exchange 2010 SP3 RU4.

  • Best practices for sharing mailboxes

    Hello,
To share mailboxes, I am not sure of the 'best practices'.
From my point of view, there are two scenarios :
classic mailbox : an user A wants to share his mailbox so it assigns rights on his mailbox for an userB via Outlook. The userB will add the userA's mailbox to his profile
shared mailbox : the rights are managed by the administrator
Is it correct to divide the management (i.e classic user manages his own mailbox and the administrator manages rights on shared mailbox) or is not ?
And the delegation functionnality in Outlook is not really what I want because the userB must have only access to the mailbox (+calendar+contacts) but he hasn't to manage the appointments, etc.
    Thanks for your help

Unless there is some other reason, users should own the right to share their mailboxes - it shouldn't be something that demands administrator management (if only so that the administrators aren't swamped by user requests for sharing their mailboxes).
For true shared mailboxes, when the mailbox is created, full access is granted by an administrator.

  • One shared mailbox with multiple distribution groups connected and the sent items folder - how to configure?

    Hi!
I have been struggling for a while now with the following issue.
    For starters:
We are using exchange 2010 in combination with outlook 2013 on client computers.
Cause of the limitations concerning the number of mailboxes in outlook im looking for a solution to receive and reply
to multiple aliasses. So i did the following:
    1. Configured one shared mailbox.
    2. Configured multiple distribution groups
    3.  made the shared mailbox a member of the distribution groups
    4. Configured full access and send as permissions for myself on the shared mailbox ( testing )
    5. Gave send as permissions to the shared mailbox in Active directory.
    6.  Logged in to OWA to setup rules for the shared mailbox.
I now receive emails from all connected distribution groups in the shared mailbox and also in the right folder.
I do however have to select the proper from address when i reply to an email.
the email sent by the main SMTP of the shared mailbox is placed into the sent folder of the shared mailbox.
I setup the senddelagate blabla in register.....
When i sent an email as one of the connected distribution groups it fails to put the sent item in the sent items folder of the shared mailbox. The email is sent using the proper address but placed in the sent folder of my main account.
I want this emails to end up in the sent items folder of the shared mailbox. Or even better, in a sent items folder for each of the addresses.
    Any suggestions ?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    As what
Rajkumar says, sending as a shared mailbox(full access permission) will put the email in the sent item of shared mailbox. But it cannot be located in the “sent item” of a distribution group. Because
it is a distribution group instead of a enabled user mailbox.
According to your further description, I understand that the reason why you configure that is some users reached the
limitation about the number of Exchange accounts you can include in the same Outlook profile. Is it rights? If I misunderstand, please point it out.
By default, user can only add 10 Exchange accounts to the same profile. You can customize the limit to the number Exchange accounts in the same profile using the following registry data:
    Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\policies\Microsoft\exchange
    DWORD: MaxNumExchange
Value: integer value starting at 1 (default = 10 if DWORD is missing)
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/outlooking/archive/2012/12/24/clarification-on-outlook-2010-and-additional-exchange-account-supportability.aspx
    Hope it helps.

  • Users cannot edit a shared calendar of a shared mailbox that was deleted from the cloud and recreated on premise

    Description:
The following example account [email protected] is an on premise AD account being used as a shared mailbox in the cloud. We have discovered that regardless of what we do, not a single user can edit the calendar entries.
The following message is shown in Outlook Click to Run 2013 when an entry. "New appointment" button is also greyed out, including "Calendar Permissions" and some others.
This problem started when the shared mailbox was created wrongly by creating it in the cloud first and we had to delete it and start over. The "in the cloud" user was deleted and the same user was created in AD on-premise with the same account name
and then Dir Synced with the cloud. A license was assigned, a user mailbox on exchange online created and the type was converted to a shared mailbox and Editor rights were defined on the calendar folder for specific users.
    Actions performed:
Action01: gave users Editor rights on calendar folder through powershell
Result01: Rights correctly added and can be seen when get-mailboxfolderpermission is ran
Action02: Opened calendar with Outlook and tried to edit entries
Result02: Error message pops up saying "You don't have permission to create an entry in this folder. Right click the folder and check..."
Action03: Opened calendar with OWA of users
Result03: Users can edit the shared calendar on OWA
Action04: Gave users Full Access permission on mailbox with automapping on
Result04: Users can edit calendar in Outlook
Action05: Gave users Full Access permission on mailbox with automapping off (mailbox no longer visible in outlook)
Result05: Users cannot edit calendar in Outlook
Action06: Removed Full Access permission on mailbox for users
Result06: User cannot edit calendar in Outlook
Action07: Removed [email protected] from on-premise AD, performed dirsync, removed account from ms online using remove-msoluser -removefromrecyclebin
Result07: No trace of the account was anywhere to be found.
Action08: Created new [email protected] account on on-premise AD, assigned o365 license to user including exchange online license
Result08: New empty Exchange online mailbox was created
Action09: gave users Editor rights on calendar folder through powershell
Result09: Rights correctly added and can be seen when get-mailboxfolderpermission is ran
(Note: whenever mailboxfolder permissions are modified for this mailbox it's as if they are ran THREE times in a row, the first time they are applied and the powershell gives immediately 3 exceptions behind this:
An existing permission entry was found for user: [email protected]

      nt.StoreTasks.AddMailboxFolderPermission
        + PSComputerName        : outlook.office365.com
Any other mailbox does not do this when setting mailboxfolder permissions)
Action10: Opened calendar with Outlook and tried to edit entries
Result10: Error message pops up saying "You don't have permission to create an entry in this folder. Right click the folder and check..."
Action11: Tried on a fresh new pc with first time logon
    Result11: did not help
    Additional information:
We have seen this problem with another user which was recreated, when he shares his calendar with others and people get the calendar invite email and click "Open Calendar" they receive a popup "The folder cannot be found".
My first impression points to a corruption/bug in the GAL on exchange online, since we're using o365 for midsize bussinesses we cannot use the AdressList role to expose the adresslist cmdlts for deeper troubleshooting.
    PS:
Issue tested on different computers and with different user accounts, not a single user can edit the calendar of [email protected] when editor rights are given.
Noticed when editing rights for the shared mailbox in powershell after the first confirmation line
Office 2013 is click to run was updated to latest version, version number: 15.0.4659.1001

    Greetings Gil,
I haven't heard of that one.
    Questions:
Does the calendar in question show up in the "Subscriptions" category of iCal?
If you remove all accounts from iCal > Preferences > Accounts and quit and re-open iCal, does the calendar in question vanish? If so, does the calendar come back when you re-input the servers you need into  iCal > Preferences > Accounts?
Can you provide a screen shot of your calendar sidebar.
While you answer those questions, some troubleshooting to try:
Try dragging one of your other calendars above this calendar that won't delete and then quit / re-open iCal and attempt to delete the calendar in question.
    Failing that:
    1. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    2. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
    4. Launch iCal and test.
If the issue persists at this point:
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
    Hope that helps!

  • Best fit/ linear equation in Numbers on the IPad?

Does anyone know how to find the best fit line equation on Numbers for the IPad? I know how to find it in IWork for the MacBook and how to find the line on the Ipad. Thanks

Can you tell me where line of best fit is in the iOS version? I havent seen it yet.
You can search on the Internet for the linear regression formul, and compute the equation yourself. Then you could plot that series of points on your chart to show the line if it is not part of iOS.

  • Unable to change members of AD security groups who have access to shared mailboxes

I have an exchange 2013 running for over a year now and never had any problems with it. Until recently.
A request came in to make a new shared mailbox. So I did just that and gave rights to a security (not mail enabled) AD group. Just like I Always do. Everything worked fine. A few hours later I did exactly the same for another request and then the people
could not access the shared mailbox. So I added my regular user to the AD group and I also couldn't (I tested it with OWA and Outlook). I tried to remove myself of one of my own shared mailboxes and the permissions wouldn't stick. When I removed the entire
group then the permissions were gone(and I could not access the shared mailbox). When I added it back I had my permissions back but still wasn't in the group. Then I tried adding a distribution group with the same result.
It seems when I add normal users directly to the permissions everything works.
When I had to restart the server a few days later. All changes were applied but I could not change it again.
i'm a bit stumped on this one. i'm out of options.

    Hi Jelle,
"I did exactly the same for another request and then the people could not access the shared mailbox.", I would like to verify if you give the same Security Group rights to multiple shared mailboxes.
If the security group members can't have access to all the shared mailboxes they have rights, you can recreate a security group and grant permissions to shared mailboxes one by one to check the result.
Hope this can be helpful to you.
