Would someone please offer advice on my Vault problem?
I am reposting this earlier plea for help:
I recently purchased a 1TB LaCie external HD to accommodate my growing Library. Aperture accepted it as a Vault and 315GB were successfully transferred to the Vault. Today I tried backup to the Vault, but Aperture keeps telling me that no vault is connected. The Finder recognizes the Vault: I checked to ensure that it is unlocked. I quit and restarted Aperture. I shut down and rebooted the Mac Pro Quad.
But Aperture refuses to recognize the Vault.
I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Susan, one thing you mentioned that makes me wonder if it's related: you said the Vault was unlocked. It should normally be locked by Aperture. Did you unlock it in the Finder?
I suppose the Update Vault Path option is greyed out in the Vault panel in Aperture (click on the gear icon to reveal). If it is not greyed out you may only need to reset the path to the Vault on the LaCie drive.
How is your LaCie drive formatted? It should be partitioned as GPT (GUID Partition Table) and formatted HFS+ (Mac OS Extended Journaled).
Two possible but improbable solutions suggested on other threads:
1) You may have a problem with the Aperture Library, not the Vault. I assume you are running Aperture version 3.0.2 when you did the original Vault creation. Quit Aperture. Restart while holding down the OPTION and COMMAND keys. You'll be presented with a panel - select Repair Database (or one of the other options perhaps may do the trick). After your database is repaired, try to update the Vault.
2) Reinstall or update the driver for the LaCie drive.
Post back your results.

The action menu can be restored by, in the Finder, selecting under View menu "Customize Toolbar ...". There you will see options to put the action menu (wheel) back on your toolbar. -

Yay! Solved my own question; just did a hard shutdown, worked like a charm! Funny, didn't before. But who am I to question salvation?

I purchased the 4S for my husband and I. After having the phone sit in the box for 2 weeks, I finally decided to have it activated. Once it was activated the person I spoke with on the phone de-activated my 3GS without even telling me to back up! So here I am with out having anything backed up to itunes or icloud and this person, has no clue about what shes telling me to do! 3 hours and 2 different people later, I find that I have to sync my 3GS to itunes to back it up there and re-store it to my 4S because no one I spoke with on the phone had no clue as to why the progress bar when backing up on iCloud through my phone didnt move after like 10 mins.
Can someone please help me understand what is being done wrong?
Let me also add in that everytime there is an update, I have to manually put all 160 apps from my itunes on my laptop back to my iphone!! This so frustrating!
Yes, I have gone to the Apple store and have had a one on one course with someone at the "genius bar" and they all say the same, "once we back it up to your icloud, you will never have to sync your phone with itunes again, you will be able to do this wirelessly"

Please help!So what I've done was delete all existing apps in my new Macbook and transferred all apps from my old PC to the new one. It was successful...until I try to sync it. This message comes up:
This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPod “Lauren”. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?
If you do not authorize this computer, 137 apps, including “...™”, and their data will be deleted from this iPod.
So I have all apps on my iPod and my Macbook. Only problem is the Macbook cannot be authorized so whenever I try to sync them, it "threatens" to delete all "unauthorized" apps from my iPod.
Oh, and if I continue, I'm guessing those apps and their would really be gone from my iPod, but will they stay on my Macbook and sync the next time I try to sync them? Though if that works I still bet I will lose all data from my apps... -

A quick google seems to indicate that the msi file exists on the filesystem after you install the runtime once.

I'm getting the run-around. Can someone please help me with a rebate problem?
I purchased a Samsung W/D from Best Buy with the free vacuum offer. It was delivered and I submitted my rebate request. The submission page said to wait 6 to 8 weeks for processing. I waited 8 weeks and then became concerned. When I called the rebate center they said they had no record of my submission. Obviously, the online process failed. I understand technology doesn't always work, but the operator and manager told me I would now not be able to get my rebate and only offered a mailing address to complain. I am EXTREMELY frustrated. First, because the only reason I purchased these units was for the rebate and now I cannot return them to Best Buy because of the time elapsed. Second, if I was aware that there was a problem with the submission I would have been able to fix the situation. The website said all was OK, and all the information said to wait 6-8 weeks. Why would I have checked in before that time? Now I'm told I'm too late to fix it??? All I want is the vacuum cleaner I was promised when I purchased the W/D. Can someone please help me?

I am almost about to give up hope with this. I have posted FOUR questions with no answers, so someone please answer this one.
My iPhone 3GS has never been jailbroken. A couple of months ago now, the bottom half of my iPhone screen became unresponsive so I thought I would try to restore it to see if it would make it alright again. Worst mistake of my life. It is now stuck in recovery mode and will not come out, for anything. I have had various different error messages, i've tried everything. All the software programs, holding home and power and whatever else. Nothing. When trying to restore it, it will come to the last part of the bar and fail. Every single time. I really could do with some help on this one. I started off trying to explain the behavior, but it got too long and wasn't sure if people would follow it. So rather then trying to explain it, I would like to ask someone to try the following to see if they can dumplicate this odd behavior I am seeing on my side.
Please follow these steps, and let me know what you get.
(1) Take any simple working package, and create an SSIS log.
(2) Use the following for the expression to set the connection string for the log file's connection manager. For simplicity, let's say the file goes in a folder called "C:\SSIS_log\". For you it could be somewhere else.
Expression:

Ipod 5G video- Fails to charge- please offer advice
Hi, I have an iPod video 5G which was working perfectly until recently, when i didn't use it for a week; when i went to charge it again it simply showed "Please wait very low battery" against a dark background- i.e. not back-lit- for four whole days. without getting enough charge to turn on.
Once plugged into a wall charger however, it turned on instantly showing full battery- and didn't charge at all. I could then unplug it (having got it to turn on using wall charger power- avoiding the 3 second image of a empty battery I normally now get when trying to turn on)) and it stayed on for the normal running time, with full brightness and no backlight timer.
i have no music on it as i have tried multiple resets- getting to disk mode by starting up on the wall charger.
I have tried everything suggested on the support page, the ipod has never left the case i got for it a year ago, i have the most up to date itunes, I am using USB 2.0- on a port I know i can charge it on, and i have the same problem with other computers. The battery can't be dead because it stays on for hours after booting whilst on a charger...
Can anyone recommend anything?
Would buying a new battery fix this??
Thanks for any helpful ideas...Whenever I had a problem, mine use to freeze up and I couldn't do anything with it, even a reset wouldn't work, I would plug it into the wall charger and left it plugged for hours (because when first plugging it nothing would happen) and finally it reset itself and went into the normal charge. I don't know about loosing the music.

I was working on what amounted to a 4 hour slideshow. Months of work. I saved the project, but first emptied the trash as I've always done. This time it froze in mid save for a solid 12 minutes. Assuming that at the very least it would've saved my most recent version (I only changed 2 pictures!) I had no recourse but to "force quit." When I attempted to open the file again & redo the changes I'd just done, the machine said that there were some "missing files that would be skipped. click OK or 'skip all' to continue." Whenever I did that, an error message would pop up saying that "iMovie quit unexpectedly. Report error to Apple..." iMovie won't open the project, or stay on. It'll open other projects, but not this one! Is there any way of retrieving the saved version prior to the changes I made today? I don't know where to look and the prospect of starting months and months of work from scratch has me sick to my stomach. So many fade ins/outs, cross dissolves, wash ins/outs... The truly sickening thing is that the 2 pictures I changed were the final changes. If it'd saved properly there would've been nothing more to do! I do hope that someone will get back to me with some encouraging news.

I whished I could be encouraging. But my main message is:
DO NEVER TUCH - Trash basket in iMovie in any version.
a. In many versions it is destruktive
b. It nevers saves up anything alike the figure written at it.
c. I've sent several feed-backs to Apple to just delete it.
• No use-full information
• No save use at all
Hopefully someone with mor knowledge can help You to restore Your project.

I would start a new project from scratch not tuching the old one before somone
comes by and have "Super knowledge"
*Next stone that You might stumble over is:* Send/Share/Export to iDVD
• This function is also lethal:
• The DVD will be severely pixelated
• The Original iMovie project will also be HARMED and in need of beeing re-done.
I do: When done in iMovie I close it.
Open iDVD
In iDVD import the iMovie movie project (icon with a Star on it)
Now iDVD will do the rendering and so much better and without harming Your original.
