Would the 928 work on a GSM carrier if unlocked?

I have read the specifications of the 928 and it says that it works on all the same  frequencies that AT&T and T-Mobile do?  Does that mean that a person could get an unlocked one and use it on a GSM network? If anybody has any knowledge of how this works let me know.
I'm new to the forum, but I have to say that I loved the Lumia 900 I had and the 822 is awesome as well.

It will work on these bands.
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
CDMA 800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100
CDMA2000 1xEV-DO
4G Network LTE
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.
Now using the Lumia 1520

  • Is my iPad 3g locked to ATT or can I swap out the micro sim with another GSM carriers micro sim?

I travel with my iPad to Europe frequently and would like to know if I can swap sims with a local carrier and use their data plane while overseas.

The iPad is not sold as carrier locked - except for the Verizon iPad which doesn't have a SIM card anyway.

  • Would the IPhone work in India ?

I am just curious to know if the Iphone would work in India right now? Can I put any simcard to make it work and would it be compatible with all simcards?

Are you also planning on paying your friend the additional $175 charged by AT&T as an early contract termination fee for this iPhone?
Once activated, all functions work but the iPhone will remain carrier locked with AT&T.
Why don't you consider an iTouch instead for now, be patient and wait for the iPhone to be released in India. I believe you will wind up being very disappointed after going to all this trouble and additional expense and not being patient but to each his/her own.

  • How would the encryptedlocalstore work

On a computer the encrypted local store is encrypted with the user's credentials. Since there can only be one user on an iphone is the encrypted local store just a normal local store.

    Hi,
You're correct, on mobile (and TV) platforms, it's just a local store.  For the complete set of profile capabilities check out the device profiles page.

  • Supported GSM Carriers for unlocked German Pre?

    Hi all.
Since the release last week of the unlocked GSM Palm Pre in Germany, many users around the Internet have reported that certain international carriers simply don't work with the device - i.e. no network support, no MMS. For instance, Swisscom in Switzerland does not work, yet Orange does.
As we know that international carrier settings are already pre-programmed into the Pre, it seems there is a bug in the webOS software that is preventing it from recognizing certain international SIM cards.
Is Palm aware of this issue? Is a fix coming?
    Cheers.
Post relates to: Centro (Unlocked GSM)

I also bought unlocked O2 Pre and I have some problems too.
I can't send or receive MMS messages and can't setup my voicemail number.
My Pre's WebOS was updated to version 1.1.3 and now I get message "Your phone is up to date." every time I check for updates.
I thought the most recent version is 1.2.1. Why isn't it available for me?
So, I paid good money for an unlocked phone to be free to use an operator of my choosing.
And yet, as it seems, the phone still came with strings attached. I feel a bit misleaded.
    Added on 10/31 :
    Some changes after last time;
    - MMS started to work nicely. Propably the network operator (Sonera, Finland) suddenly noticed Pre really is MMS phone
    - Video from YouTube gets through OK.
    - Google Maps works just fine.
    Still to complain;
    - WebOS 1.1.3 is "up to date" according to Updates utility
    - I still can't setup the voicemail number in preferences.

  • I bought an iphone sprint carrier on ebay but i want to know if the phone is going to work for an international carrier movistar which is gsm due to the phone does have a sim card slot , what do i need to do ?

help me how can i get my phone to work in movistar which is my carrier in ecuador gsm . sprint iphones does have sim card slot but i'm not sure if it will work for gsm what do i need to do , how do i unlock it

IF the phone was unlocked by Sprint for international use, it will work on any compatible (non U.S.) GSM carrier.
If it was NOT unlocked before you acquired it, you will need to move to the US and establish service with Sprint, then wait the minimum amount of time specified by their policy before they will agree to unlock it for you.
If you are not a Sprint customer, you bought the wrong phone.

  • I would like to buy an iPhone for my friend in Iceland.  Two questions: will the phone work with complete utility in Iceland, and if so, what should I do to confirgure it while in the USA so that it can have full utility in Iceland?

Bad idea. There are no supported iPhone carriers in Iceland, thus some features may or may not work. Further, there will be no warranty or support for a US purchased iPhone in Iceland...your friend will be on their own. If you still want to go down this road, make sure you purchase an officially unlocked iPhone(GSM model) directly from Apple.

  • I am planning to buy ipad 2 wifi   3g verizon carrier, will be taking it to india need to know if the same can be used with the local providers there or would the ipad be locked and restricted only to verizon

I am planning to buy ipad 2 wifi   3g verizon carrier, will be taking it to india need to know if the same can be used with the local providers there or would the ipad be locked and restricted only to verizon

I'm fairly sure the Verizon CDMA iPad 2 had no GSM sim slot. So it won't work with any other carrier except Verizon.
As far as the AT&T version goes, it should technically work but will not support 4G/LTE cellular bands.
Given iPad 2's are no longer being sold, I doubt any  that could be bought would have a warranty still. Or have at most very little of it left.
Why an iPad 2?  its now 3 generations behind the current one.
Perhaps an iPad 4 would be a better choice.

  • I am in the military and will be moving to germany in a month. would the US bought iphone 5 work in germany?

i am in the military and will be moving to germany in a month. would the iphone 5 work in germany?

An unlocked GSM phone would work anywhere with any SIM card.  But, if the German iPhone 5 is th a1429-GSM only model, it will not work with AT&T nor T-Mobile's LTE frequencies here.  Similarly, the A1428 model sold for use with AT&T here may not work overseas as the LTE frequencies may be different then the two supported ones.
In terms of technology, 2 or 3 years is a looong time.  By the time you get back, the iPhone 5 will be ancient tech.  I would suggest you just get one in Germany so you know it will be fine over there.  When you come back in 2 or 3 years, sell it, donate it or whatever, and get something new that you again know will be fine for use here in the USA.
Plus that way, you could buy a contract subsidized German phone, and save on the initial cost of the phone.  If you buy from AT&T here, even if they will unlock it because of your service, what happens with the contract?  And if you buy an unlocked one (when they become available), ignoring the LTE compatability issues, you pay a lot more out of pocket for the phone.
No matter what you buy, it is going to be very, very behind the tech curve after 2 or 3 years (not to mention, it may well be needing a new battery, which might well cost more to replace then that old phone would be worth on the used market).

  • HT3939 Will Sprint 1429 CDMA phone work in India with GSM carriers

I am planning to purchase a Sprint CDMA phone from ebay & carry to India. Will it work in India with GSM carriers SIM?

    No.
Buy in India only, from warrantee and full function point of view.
You need to buy Model A1429 (GSM model).
Verizon, which has GSM port unlocked is better choice. But LTE would not work on this model in India with Indian operator's sim.

  • I am from myanmar and I would like to order iphone 5s contract free from T-mobile . is it compatible with my local GSM carrier ?

I am from myanmar and I would like to order iphone 5s contract free from T-mobile . is it compatible with my local GSM carrier ?

You should go onto the Tmobile web site and look around. Very soon a pop up window will ask you if you want to chat. You can try asking for someone who knows Spanish (if you prefer), they might have someone available who can chat with you in Spanish.
I give this suggestion because I remember on the Tmobile website, you can order on line, but they let you choose to pay only a little money up front, then pay off the rest over 24 months, or you can choose to pay for it in full. However, their ordering process does not say whether the paid for in full phone is going to be unlocked or not.
It may not be, You may have to make a request and say that since you have paid in full please unlock. I am not so sure that a paid for in full phone is automatically sold in unlocked state.
This is why I suggest you talk to Tmobile to get a definite answer.
Unless someone else on this forum knows for sure? Hope someone else jumps in to answer. But the best way is to ask for yourself directly from Tmobile.

  • I want to buy an ipad 3 4g wifi in the  US because its cheaper than in Mexico, i wold like to ask if the 4g service will work with a Mexican carrier like Telcel or movistar even if i buy the Ipad in the US

if i purchase an ipad in the us, will the 4g network work with a mexican carrier?

There is no such thing as an unlocked CDMA iPhone. All CDMA iPhones are carrier locked and the carriers do not allow unlocking. All legitimatly unlocked iPhones are GSM only The CDMA side is completely disabled in them.
You can only use a CDMA iPhone if the carrier you want to use offers one.
